Hi Kayla. Love that cactus. That's one for my wish list! That hoya macrophylla/latifolia looks like a hoya Sarawak. It can be confusing with some hoyas resembling one another until you see the flowers. My whalefin surprised me. It started out two leaves the size of your smaller leaf, now I have 7 leaves between 3 feet and 4 1/2 feet tall! Easy to care for but now needs a repot. Thanks for sharing! Dee, NY
Cercestis Mirabilus ( African Embittered Plant) needs a self watering pot. Never let dry out. Runners grow wild and I do not know what to do with them besides cut them off. It grow big beautiful leaves. No full sun. Weird and Beautiful. I have mind in 50% humidity. Half soil and half Aroid mix. 🪴Happy Planting🌿
Fertilize the latifolia “red” a bit more regularly and throw some keiki paste on the nodes. Once it starts to grow the new leaves should sunstress. I do notice that latifolia sunstress very unreliably. I have one that turns purple but will just go back to green. I gave up on trying to stress it and I just let it grow. Hope this helps!
Hoyas need a lot of light to turn colors. If you have a spot outside that you can safely put in indirect sun? And they like to be slightly pot bound. They love Orchid fertilizer spray.
Might need a stronger grow light for that Hoya Macrophylla to get the red sun stress 😮 ! Seen a post on Reddit recently that the ‘red’ just means sun stressed not sure exactly. 😂
I love weird plants - things that look like they grow on another planet. The fuzzy petioles, or like the ferox. But grow lights are not the same as sun. Put it in sun.
Hi there Kay, You might have to stake up that Macryphylla? to a stronger more steady stake. That might be the reason why it's not growing. It does not feel stable enough to grow more. That plant really looks like a Sarawak/Latifolia. I don't know. I know of a Macryphylla but it's a hoya and is shaped differently. Take care.
Hi Kayla, I came to see how your Tortum was doing in Leca. My plant is very small and is in Leca and has alot of healthy roots. However the tips of the leaves turn brown and crispy not sure if it's too much light? Any tips you could share? much appreciated. :)
If I see my tips turning brown and crispy I make sure I’m watering them enough and that they have enough humidity. My tortum in Leca is doing amazing and I have no issues from it ever (knock on wood). High recommend it in Leca
I have a cutting of Hoya Macrophylla Red and it is just popping out a new pair of leaves which are still very tiny, but completely red. I figure they will turn green in a more adult adult state, just like I have experienced with some of my other hoya.
Ahhh maybeeee that’s what it is then. Maybe I have it all backwards!! It could be that they come out red and harden to green! I’ve been waiting on a new leaf to emerge and haven’t seen one yet. Ugh what a relief if that’s the case! Thanks for watching
It’s incredible how we have the exact same taste when it comes to weird plants! My whalefin is currently in the mail and I’m super excited for it! 🎉 Any secret Alocasia tips? I’m still struggling, but finding it impossible to give up on them 😅
For your African milk tree make sure u wear good gloves with it bc the “milk” that they drip when u break a spike off for example can irritate your skin
Their nickname “cathedral cactus” actually stems from the fact that they look like cacti but they’re actually succulents. Not exactly sure what “old world” is but I’m fairly inexperienced to the world of cacti so there’s plenty in sure I don’t know. Thanks for watching!

Pereskia are such a fun plant!! I bought that one because of the cool science behind it! It’s a primitive cactus , before they developed spines!
Whoa! I did not know that! That’s insane and so interesting. Knowing that I have an ancient plant is so rewarding. Thanks for sharing

All my Hoyas are sun stressed except this one. Ahhhhh! It’s so annoying. But yea once it warms up several plants go outside. Happy planting!!
Beautiful plants
Thank you!

My grow lights are INTENSE haha but yes sun is a must once it’s warm enough to place them outside. Wish the windows didn’t get so cold in my house!
Just came across your Channel!! Glad to be a new subscriber!!
Hi and welcome! So glad you decided to sub!

Those live sales are insanely addictive! I ordered 12 plants just this weekend lol
Aren’t they?! I have to stop myself from even tuning In just to “see what they have” 😂

Well to repot a cactus, you need a trowel, some tweezers, a spoon...and patience 😊
I have all of those EXCEPT the last one 😂 I’m gonna give it a go though!

The secret to alocasia? I have NO IDEA. 😂 literally wingin it over here! When you find out let me know please lol
@@GardenOfKayland Hahaha! I definitely will!!! The next thing I’m trying now is bottom watering. I’ll keep you posted 🤞🤞🤞
Have you tried sun stressing the Hoya in sun, not with a grow light?
Not yet! Definitely worth a shot though!

One time I pricked my finger on a cactus at the nursery and it seriously hurt in that spot for a week. Lesson learned 😂
💚💚
Euphorbias aren't cactus...they're old world. Cactus are new world. Cute vid tho.
