nothing like doing an oil change in the dark!
you should try using Supertech advanced syncthetic oil & Fram ultra synthetic filter. it's better than castrol edge & valvoline advanced. it's the same guys that make other oils. just price is cheap because no marketing costs like others.
I've had great performance with Valvoline Syn with my pther cars so I'll stick with it but I'll upgrade to the fram ultra syn filter next time 👍
@@sstressfl I said that cause I do it myself just like you and back here in south my 2018 chevy consumes less oil on average compared to others between oil changes i've bought over the years.
Are you going to put more miles on this than the ATS? Hopefully it all went well 👍
So far so good! I plan to put miles on this thing :) I already went to Florida and back with it! Something I never would attempt with my ATS.
Bro watched way to many episodes of are you afraid of the dark as a kid!
🤣
Do we need a new washer for the drain plug? Does it even have a washer? Thanks
No problems for me. And I’ve done many oil changes so far 👍
@sstressfl So I guess that means a washer for the drain plug isn't used or needed to be replaced?? Right? I noticed that on my 2022 Ram 1500, the drain plug has a brownish colored rubber or plastic thing that seats the bolt flush to the oil case. My 2019 Ram 1500 used a metal squash washer that we're supposed to replace with every oil change. Thanks
500 miles? i have a new 23 with same engine and dealership put a sticker in my windshield for first change at 5000. im at 4000 now. gonna change it at 4500 and continue from there
Dealerships do that. And yes, engines are a lot hardier than they used to be. Engine blocks have more nickel in them, machining is more precise, tolerances are more consistent. But I like to get rid of the initial break in machining flakes, shavings, dust, any material that might have gotten trapped in the engine during assembly, etc when I get a new engine. Then I change the oil between 4000-5000 miles, using good synthetic, to avoid tarnish build up.
@@sstressfl hope I didn't make a bad decision by not changing sooner! I love this truck, my first one
@@swifterskillz Im sure you'll be fine. Lots of people wait and they have many trouble free miles on their engine. My first truck too! I like it SO much! :) Welcome to the Ram family!
I know they dropped the Dodge name for the trucks, but it will always be a Dodge.
It’s been a dodge all my life, it’s hard to see it any differently. But since I work in marketing, I understand it. The truck line is so strong I think it’s cool it has its own name. It again, hard to change :)
Mike why oil change at 500 miles?
Growing up whenever we built new engines, break-in was done at 500 miles and then we changed oil and filter to remove the break-in metal shavings from piston rings seating, etc. The manual says this hemi's break in is complete after 500 miles but does not specify an oil change. I'm sure the engineers at Chrysler know what they're doing, but I couldn't let it go. In my history, an engine needs fresh oil and filter after break-in so that's what I did.
@@sstressfl sounds like a good idea 👍 Does the drain plug have a magnet on the oil pan side to collect metal shavings like a transmission?
@@MrSizewise No magnet for the engine oil just a filter :) Can you imagine if a person ignored their oil change and a clump of metal flakes that built up on the magnet eventually broke loose due to oil flow? I think that's why OEM doesnt do it.
Newer engines really don't need to have the oil and filter changed with such low mileage. I did that for years with older vehicles but it's unnecessary today and wasteful , but to each his own. Best of luck with your new Dodge!
Ceramic coat your new truck! You'll thank me later.... Lol. Have a safe trip
I’ve been using ceramic detailer. Nothing shines like ceramic! I know it’s not the same but it sure is nice 👍
@@sstressfl well your half way there! Lol. Stuff is amazing, especially on a black ride. Mine has held up for 3 years now and still going strong. I have owned a black car of sorts for way too long, I'm (57). I used Renny Doyle's. I hope you had a great time in Florida. 🔥💯🇺🇲
@@paulcondie2520 Black is my fav on a car but it is def high maintenance to keep it looking good 😎Perhaps next summer I'll attack the truck with a real ceramic coat!
@@sstressfl there ya go. I know I'll never look back
@@paulcondie2520 except when you're heading into the store and you look back at that parked beauty 😎
