Parts: oil filter and oil total as of recording 64 even at advanced auto.

Thanks for the video man. Changed the oil in mine 3 times already and was looking for some ideas on how “not” to get oil from the filter all over. I think I will try your gallon bag method.. sure beats cleaning up that much oil from all the suspension parts.

Great idea with the Ziploc bag. Can’t believe I didn’t think of that only thing is I don’t know exactly where that oil filter is. I’m guessing it’s under the vehicle to the left. But I will find it.

Hey Brother, great video. I just picked up a 19 ram with the hemi. First oil change this weekend. Was thinking of going with 5w30. I know they call for 20 weight.
There is so much back and forth in the forums of 30 weight. I was thinking of doing the same but only in the summer time. 20 winter 30 summer and you should be good to go brother. Let me know how you make out or if you have questions. Make sure the plastic bag goes all the way up on the filter. lol
I'm coming up on my first change in a few months so i appreciate the tips. Anyone tried using a long funnel such as transmission filler funnel or something similar like the TEC Products FlexAll Funnel - Flexible Rubber Funnel with Handle found on AMZN?
Your welcome for the tips brother. What are you trying to accomplish with the long funnel? If it’s for the drain it’s going to overflow the funnel real fast. If your talking about the oil filter I doubt it will work. Just a plastic bag and you’ll be good to go. Make sure you pull the bag way up on the filter and it will be a clean process. The only green lights on the dash are: turn signal indicators, cruise control, start/stop mode, 4wd auto indicators. Let Mel now if that helps brother.
This is a fairly easy job to do in the driveway. Save yourself some money and do it your self. Very minimal tools are needed. If you have any questions I’m always around for advice.

Thanks for plastic bag idea. I turned till it wriggle. The I list the bag up as I turn the filter and keeping the bag up. Came loose In the bag with no oil coming out. Be patience turning the filter and lowering the bag.

The truck has been great so far. I doubt you can even tell the difference between the e-torque and non version. I’m still on the fence with keeping it long term. My only concern is the lifetime durability of the generator and battery pack located behind the back seat. If I was going to keep it long term I definitely would of got the non e-torque version. Only time will tell. I got a couple other videos on the truck posted up. Thanks for the feedback brother.

@@GG-ch5fm another thing positive with the e-torque is that when the truck auto start stops it uses the generator to start it back up. Not the starter like the non version. Be good brother.

The only time I pre fill oil filters is when the filter holds a quart of oil like in trucks. Where the norm can be a gallon in the filter. You see when it starts the oil pressure builds up in thousands of a second. Nothing like max friction that’s so lubed its counter productive. Lol

Lol funny analogy. I would hear a little valve rotation for 2 seconds in my RAV4 but still was smooth probably if it has roller rockers and i wait 30-60 minutes to drain the last bit of gunk before coming back from merging on the highway in 4 seconds no play in my 5.0

I recently did my first oil change and when I was adding back the oil, I stopped to check at 6 1/2 quart and I was pass the oil mark. This made me measure what I got out and it was about 6 quarts. Why not all the oil came out even after I let the truck seat and drip all the way in an inclined position.? What did I did wrong that I couldn't add the 7 quarts?
Did you start the motor? Once you start it and recheck it will take the 7 quarts brother.
Unless you have a 6 cylinder. Then it’s 6 quarts.
So crazy. I have a 2024 Ram 5.7L 1500 Limited. The oil requirement 0W-20. It also has the eTorque. I wonder what is the difference between the engines for the different oils?
I think it’s more of a EPA requirement. I have a 2024 now as well and it does call for 0w-20. I just put what it calls for and change the oil every 5k.
@@MrV2u I did some research. People are saying use 5W-30. Best lubricate for the Hemi. plus will stop the "Hemi Tick" Apparently that's a thing.
@unbearable5883 yeah I been going back and forth with the best plan for oil viscosity. I still recommend what the engineers recommend. As long as you change the oil on time you really don’t have anything to worry about. The hemi tick is usually cam lobes or valve issues. What is highly known for ticking is exhaust manifold studs breaking or entire manifolds cracking like it did in my case. Split right down the middle top to bottom on my 2021.
I can't get under my 2021 1500 with the step boards, so need to put it on ramps - does the angle negatively affect any aspect of this?

@@MrV2u Yes - it definitely helped. But next time I am going to spin the filter off a little more before getting the bag in place b/c the many twists got the bag tangled up and it was a little less effective than I think it could be. It is a great idea!

This was entertaining to watch. The Etorque has a generator. I started wondering if it was a hybrid
It’s just a enhanced auto start stop setup. It uses the generator to start the truck up from a stop. It does make for smoother starts. And supposedly you get better fuel mileages with it. Glad you liked the video brother.
Also an electric motor as well as a generator. Provides low end torque (100+ ft lbs) below 2000 RPM and powers 12V items, by proxy, when the engine’s stopped. Torque is added by the motor aiding the load on the engine by “helping” the crankshaft turn via the belt that connects the two. Pretty cool!
But compared to the non ETorque it really isn’t that necessary. I like to keep my trucks long term and I’m still not sure about the generator and suitcase battery pack durability. Only time will tell. Thanks for the info brother.

Hey! My wife and I are still shopping, but the RAM is high on our list. Yeah, love how the engineers built in the automatic sway bar corrosion protection during the oil change. Genius! 7 quarts! No wonder old changes are expensive.
One thing I use to do when it came to the oil filter was take an awl and hammer and actually pop a hole into the bottom of the filter to let the oil drain out into some sort of catch basin. It's not something I ever recommended to anyone, but since I was putting on a new filter anyway, at least it gave me more of a chance to catch the oil from the filter before removing it. Also, I always drove the two front tires up onto ramps which gave me more working room under the truck and also tilted the car a bit to help oil flow when draining. Anyway, thanks for showing this - very good information.
Quick question: have you had any problem with your truck unexpectedly shutting down or stalling during highway speeds or stalling from a stop? I understand some owners had experienced this rather dangerous phenomena. In general, are you happy with your purchase? Any buyer's remorse? Like I said, we are shopping around, but it's great to get honest, real owner feedback. Thanks for posting, great information. I haven’t had any issues with the truck shutting down. The only thing that really annoys me is the paint quality. The front bumper has chips all over the place from normal highway driving. If you get the Ram I highly recommend a paint protection film or a diamond coating job. Another issue which isn’t major is the cross traffic beeping when making a turn when your in a two turning lane situation. Other than that it’s the best truck I e ever driven in and owned. Get it now while you still have the option of a real 8 cylinder. Next year there is talks of a struggle 6 motor. Let me know if you have any other questions brother.
Hey I forgot to mention when I change the oil on the tractor trailers I always punch a hole in the filters, they usually hold 2-4 quarts of oil and it’s easy to punch a hole in it while draining the engine. I test drove the titan, f150, and tundra. After getting into the Ram it felt like this is the truck to get. Smooth on the road, quiet cabin, awesome camera and screens. The seats are wide and comfortable. The new Silverado zr2 got my attention with there new interior. So who knows what the future holds lol.
@@MrV2u OH NO! Say it's not true. One of my earlier truck purchases was a Dodge Dakota in the early 1990s. That's the one thing I remember most about that truck. Eventually the paint started to peel off in sheets. You know - like when we used to put white glue on our hands as a kid so we could let it dry and peel it off for fun? Chrysler still hasn't learned how to apply a good paint job? I then took the truck to Earl Scheib for a paint job. Remember them? I won't even take the time to tell you how bad it looked after that, suffice to say there were actual gravel encrusted foot prints in the bed of the truck where the guys walked on the wet paint. I'm not even lying Bro. I wish I had a picture I could send you.
Anyway, thanks again for the information, and the tip about the paint protection package. The price of my truck just went up again. Looks like I'll be losing a leg after all during purchase time. I know what you mean about time constraints for purchase. RAM is one of the few remaining quality V8 engines left. Not sure sure I'm feeling the turbo-charging route. Take care.
@@daveyJ213 lol you brought back good memories with the Elmer’s glue and also with the rubber cement. 😂 I think that when the government mandated that car companies need to use the water based paint rather than the oil based paint it was their biggest mistake. Thin paint coats and thin clear coats. I wanted to buy a diesel but with all the emission parts I’d rather not. If I did I would definitely delete it and then you risk being fined. Let’s go Brandon! To avoid oil spilling from the oil filter all over your plastic and metal, get a beer plastic can and put it over the filter as you twist it, then remove it that way.

All I would add is fill your filter, even part way, it'll help with dry start. I would also suggest nitrile gloves. Used oil is bad for you!
I added it but didn’t record the part brother. You can get quite a bit in the filter and at least it goes on straight up so no spills. I’ve been a mechanic for over 15 years I agree with the oil on skin contact. Parts cleaner is worse on the skin.
At least ram didn't change the oil pan to plastic like Ford Did
But they did use plastic in their upper control arms. Makes no sense to me. I’ll be replacing them when I install my lift kit. Coming soon brother.
Add oil to filter….if you did this as you say you did its a very important step the the process…
Being that this filter only holds 1/2-3/4 cup of oil it’s not detrimental in any way. It’s not a Detroit diesel motor with a 1 gallon capacity oil filter. But like I said in previous comments I added some.
They say using Mobil 1 oil voids your warranty because is not MS-6395 certified..
If it comes to that then, they will have to do a oil analysis to confirm it. What oil brand you use?

Have seen dealers bitch about guys using pro comp or fabtech lift kits about warranties than saw that they use exact same lift kits....and they are shit......even saw them say BDS ( best lift you can buy) wasn't an approved company
At end of the day they have to prove it and really they just want your money and to use the dealer.......service makes a shit ton of money for deslerships

I thought the filter location on the f150 was bad ,but this is horrible.
As you can see, the filters are always too tight. They get tight on thier own, don't use a wrench to put it on.
Your not lying, I think all the manufacturers are trying to outdo each other in their filter locations. The only reason I put a wrench on it is because once my hands get slippery with oil it’s hard to tighten it the correct way. I been a mechanic for over 20 years so I see the horrors of people putting on oil filters with 100’s of foot pounds of torque.

I owned 2019-2022 silverados b4 my Ram and oil filter was right next to drain plug......super clean and simple....

Lmao spot on brother. That’s call self lubricating chassis. That sway bar will outlast the damn truck for sure. Bagging the oil filter works great if you loosen it up way more than I did in the video. It catches every drop.
Dealer told me to change every 5,000miles
It won’t hurt anything changing it every 5k. I like to go between 5 and 7k.
Hey man just wondering if the E torque breaka and you need a new one how much is that gonna cost to replace the E torque? Do you need to replace the whole engine since it's attached to the pullys
I’m pretty sure it’s going to cost a fortune to replace the generator. Instead of the alternator it uses a generator. It’s separate from the motor, so you won’t need to replace the motor if the generator fails. The other problem would be the battery pack that’s located behind the passenger side rear seat. I’d think the battery will go before the generator.

@@MrV2u I wish you the best man I'm sure there are benifits to having the etorque? What do you think of the f150 v8? And what would you say is the most reliable v8 truck out there? I'm not sure what the hell I should buy. I love the GMC sierra at4x but I dont trust the AFM and DFM. I wish I could buy a TRX also but there not taking builds for it right now here in Canada amd I sure as hell ain't paying over msrp for nothing.
@@markwhite6719 every motor has its own issues. Chevy and gmc burn oil and that’s the new trucks. Rams have the Hemi tick and exhaust manifold issues. Look at my video on the tick. The Fords with their turbos not sure how they will hold up long term. All diesels with their emission setups are trash and cost a fortune when they break down. Unless you get them deleted. My choice would still be either the Ford with the coyote motor or a Ram with its issues with the 5.7 non ETorque.
