2 Year/20k Mile Review - 2021 Ram 1500 Bighorn E-Torque 4x4

- I wanted to give my honest opinion of the 5th generation Ram 1500 to help those who are currently looking at purchasing one. These are big investments and depending on how you wish to use the truck, they may or many not fit your needs. If you have any questions or concerns after watching the video please don’t hesitate to leave a comment.
The truck I’m speaking towards is a 2022 Ram 1500 bighorn 4x4 with the following options:
5.7 Hemi with E-torque mild hybrid
Bighorn Level 1
Off-road Group
Alpine Entertainment System
Fox 2.0 coilovers and shocks
Zone upper control arms
Ram Rebel wheels and tires
Ram floor mats
Katzkin leather interior
I get 20 mpg in my 2023 model with the 3.23 gears. Also people towing cracks me up. Mines tows my 4800 pound camper like a dream
You change a ton of the suspension components, and then whine that the truck doesn’t tow things correctly. Ever think maybe you’re the cause of that problem? I do. I have a 2021 Ram 1500 and it tows my 6000lb camper no problem. My truck is stock. I have the 5.7 without the hybrid system, and the 392 gears. I get 20 miles per gallon on the highway at 70mph (not towing of course). Great truck.
Shocks and struts are not a ton of suspension components. Plus, I’ve towed before and after the level kit and it still sucked.
Lol I sense some fanboy syndrome here. People can't hear you dare say anything negative about their choice of truck. Defend the brand at all costs. It's always YOUR fault. 😂
I lifted my truck 3 inches +33 inch tires and lost 1 mpg on average. Him leveling the truck didn't effect his mileage. The fuel mileage is just that bad.
Leveling does affect mpg and the gas mileage will improve over time as the engine breaks in.
I have no skin in the game and thank you for your review. I did want to let you know that leveling does affect the wind resistance and can increase the air turbulence in the bed, thus lowering your fuel economy. Good luck with your next chooce.
I have a similar Lonestar bighorn, 3.21 gearing. I bought an off market trailerbrake controller, rough country leveling shocks in front and rc struts in rear. I don't have the downhill desent control or the axel lock. Heck, I don't tow heavier than 7,000 lbs and that's a long trailer full of fire wood. Also, you need a tonneau cover. It will allow for a more efficient stream to pass over the truck. It will add 2 to 3 mpg to trips. Without it, the air hitting the tailgate acts like an air sail brake, thus, decreasing gas mileage.
Finally, you needed the 2500. You should have had the 3.92 ratio on your 1500, with the 26 or 33 gallon tank.
Thank you for your real experiences with the fuel economy and towing
No problem. It’s a big purchase and I figured people could really benefit from my experience.
We’ve talked about it. My 2019 get about 12 mpg completely stock. I’ve fell the same way about towing, the ability to push in body parts with little effort, and the gas guzzling. It is a great around the tow truck, rides so nice, huge cab area to fit 4-6 people, and tech is decent. I personally use the 4 wheel auto. I have the towing gears so that with 4 wheel auto make the truck have some tack off torque.
Definitely a great family truck. It also handled the trails with ease. The wife and I decided she would have the family car and I would just get a work horse instead. Hard to beat a 5.9 Cummins in my opinion. Especially if I luck out and find an 06 or 07 mega cab.
I haven't towed anything with mine yet, but I am averaging significantly over 20 mpg.
Thanks for sharing. I was looking at these for my next truck, but now I don’t think so.
I had a 2017 Ram Big Horn that would get 21 to 22 mpg on the two lane at 68 mph. On the Interstate at 80 to 83 mph, it would drop down to around 18. Of course wind here in the Dakotas is a big issue and makes or breaks your mileage.
My 2022 Ram 1500 doesn’t get as good of mileage as the Big Horn did, but I don’t have the same tires on it. The big lug tires are a mileage killer, I run either the Toyo Open Country H/T III’s or the Yokohama Geolander HT G056 tires. Both were better than the factory tires for mpg.
I get 21 on the highway Love my ram.
Good point on the leaky rear window, cargo light and radio fin, notorious in the 2019 models!
Thanks for the Candid info...fuel economy is definitely a big consideration when purchasing a ETorque engine. Not a good look on Fiat/Chrysler.
I have a 2014 RAM Sport 4x4 Hemi. Drive back and forth from AZ to WI every year. Currently has 82k miles on it. Mileage is always 21.4. Only issue I have is I wish the speed limit on US 54 was 100mph or better.
I was driving from East TN to Tucson AZ for a couple years with my 2019 Ram 1500 crewcab 5.7 Etorg 4 X 4 with 2.31 positrack. It averaged 22.00 mpg westbound door to door 1950 miles and 21.20 mpg eastbound 1950 miles.
The truck always had two adults a 100. pd dog and a fully loaded bed both ways.
My average speed was 77 mph. I did a lot of 80 to 90 mph driving. As far as mileage, this truck out the dozens I have owned over the last 60 years of truck ownership is the best hands down. The only truck close to it was a 1995 Nissan, V-6 3.0 ltr, extended cab, 2 wheel drive automatic. It got 22 mpg no matter how you drove it, but it was about half the truck of the 2019 Ram.
The difference in towing is rear coil spring suspension set up..I've had 2500 cummis same way..just hard to describe. Power is not a problem. Had to put air bags and bar to help stabilize rear. Still love my 1500 etorque... I've had 4 cummins trucks..stock. EPA ruined diesels! Not worth it anymore..maint costs along with fuel...money ahead maintaining and feeding a gas one. Wish I kept my 06 5.9😂
I'd take this review with a grain of salt. My dad had put 150k on 15' (my brother has it now) and now has a 21 without e torque. He got great mileage with both and routinely gets over 20 highway average on road trips in Montana at higher elevation going the 80 mph speed limit. No issues with towing his boat and he's towing now a cargo trailer across country comfortably. Even my 08 Ram 1500 with 3.92 towed that amount comfortably in the mountains in Montana with air bags. The rear differential didn't' hold up... but it was comfortable. As far as the mileage go you'd be amazed at how much those wheels, tires & level will affect your mpg. You kind of sacrifice your critique if you've made these modifications.
To be clear I'm not a huge Ram fan coming to defend this truck but this was someone who didn't option their truck correctly. You needed 3.92 gear ratios for that level/tires/towing, you could have easily put air bags on, got a better hitch, got a trailer with brakes or bought a lighter aluminum car trailer. All of these things would have been cheaper than daily driving a 3/4. It wasn't that you "needed" a 3/4 ton to tow 5 times a year.
The “modifications” to this truck were mainly factory options (ram rebel) with a very similar MPG rating. Yes, this truck has 3.21 gears. I didn’t get to pick every option as this is what the dealership had. This was my review of the 1500 coming from a previous 2500 owner. You can obviously disagree but, don’t try to discredit my review based on your own opinion. “Comfort” is completely relative. For the money these new trucks cost, I wasn’t worth it in my opinion. I’m more than happy going back to an older 2500.
He actually has the worse config for towing which is low gear ratio + crew cab + 4x4
You bought the wrong truck for your needs and as stated could have optioned it better. 3.21 vs 3.92 gears make a world of difference towing.
Ram currently makes the best all around truck in the half ton segment.
I don't know what you're talking about with "white-knuckling" when towing 5,500 lbs. I towed a 70 Charger on a U-Haul trailer (roughly 6,000 lbs) all the way from Idaho to Pennsylvania and back and I certainly wasn't white-knuckling or felt like I was being pushed all over the road. 2020 Ram 1500 Limited, 5.7 non-eTorque, 4x4, 3.21 gears, factory air ride.
Maybe your air ride helped. It wasn’t bad on the straightaways but, the twisties were terrible. Went back to a gen 3 2500 and I couldn’t be happier
@@sorta_stock Pre-emissions Cummins. Smart man.
Your gauge screen has nothing to do with being a "Bighorn", just check the right boxes when ordering. My Bighorn is about as loaded as you can get and it has the large programable screen in the dash. Also, did the trailer you towed have any kind of load hitch, I run mine with an Andersen hitch towing my toy hauler, truck is a beast and super smooth. I also have the trailer brake controller and the trailer steering knob...both work excellent
My Ram Limited 5.7 Etorque 4x4 with the 392 gear pulls like a champ. I pull my Rockwook 2506 all the time. Never pushes the truck around. IDK what you are doing wrong. I also pull the camper with my 2022 Grand Cherokee L 5.7L 4x4......no sway with the Hensley hitch. You might want to get the correct hitch for your truck
I would imagine a great improvement with a Hensley anti-sway hitch. My experience towing with the ‘21 Ram 1500 was with the factory package and a U-haul car trailer. Similar to what many others might encounter.
Good review. I think the tires and raised shocks are impacting your mileage. My 3.92 E-Torque will go 650 miles on the highway all day. While I've never pulled anything, the torque is also amazing and stronger than my 2014 5.7 Hemi which pulled 5k easily.
He doesnt have a damn tow package.
I have a 2014 Ram 1500 5.7l Crewcab and pull a 26ft travel trailer that is over 6,000lbs with the smaller back end and I forget its back there sometimes with a "TOW PACKAGE"!
Did you adjust the Speedo when you added the oversized tires? If not that’ll hurt the mpg calculation. You’re getting better than it states. Also the level kills the aerodynamics. My 2020 bighorn hemi 4x4 no etorque has a 2” lift front and back so I retained the factory rake and running 295/70/18s - 34.5s Falkens. Mostly city driven and avg 15.5 mpg but 21
highway with a calibrated speedometer.
How to do you calibrate a speedometer??
@@garcial30tuner
I’ve got a 2021 Ram 1500 Bighorn with 5.7 321 gear also I’ve got tow package I get 20.2 mpg hwy at 65 mph. I’ve towed 7000 to 7500 with no issues.
Before I leveled the truck I was averaging around 16/17 driving 70-75. Any slower and I’d have to park it at 55 in the slow lane. California’s don’t tolerate campers in the fast lane.
i have a 2021 laramie 4x4 etorque also 2 inch level kit and best i can do in town is 11
Absolutely My 2019 Ram Truck w a Hemi around town all day gets 11MPG , If I pull am pulling a 8k trailer and I have the tow package plus trailer brakes I get abput 9mpg. Its Amazing that Car companies get to just OUTRIGHT LIE about real world MPG.. But Ram really takes the cake and is the biggest offender . And I do not have a heavy foot I just drive it. My cars I drive all get near the MPG,albeit of course 3 or 4 mpg less
2014 ram 5.7, 3:92 rear. Not towing, hand calculated, 17-18 hwy. 390-400 miles to tank
I’m driving a rental (2023 ram 1500 big horn). Very comfortable ride but the etorque makes the acceleration/deceleration feel jerky. Like a dead spot in the brake and gas pedal. I don’t like it
Interesting, seem like lots of people complain about real VS advertised mileage. I am looking at a 2023 Classic 4WD crew cab with the Pentastar, it had the chrome package, limited slip, rugs and towing though it will NEVER see any towing from me. I have a 2023 Tuscon SEL AWD but i have a house in WV that having a pick-up will be beneficial for, i think they are rated about 16 city and 21 hwy. You know i had a 96 Grand Cherokee with the 5.2 for 12 years as a winter vehicle and it got 12 mph city and the 5.2 was about 210-220 hp not 400 like the HEMI. The truck i am looking at lists for 48 grand and i can buy for 40, if i buy i am getting the BED RUG and a nice tonneau
I have a 2020 classic 5.7 crew cab 4x4 no etorq. Consistency get over 20 mpg on the highway. It does drop considerably in town due to the amount of energy it take to get that weight rolling. I tow a Massey Ferguson 2605 with a 84” finish mower that together with the trailer is about 7500 pounds. No uneasy feeling he described but my truck is 100% as delivered from the factory. No mods just straight as delivered. 60k miles no problems yet. Pretty happy so far.
Still getting broken exhaust manifold bolts
Great Vid... Thanks!
Wow, I have had the complete opposite results regarding fuel mileage with my 2019 Ram / 392 gear and my 2022 Ram / 321 gear? Must depend on how you drive it, I do a lot of highway miles with the cruise control on and typically beat the epa estimated mpg. Best I have gotten with the 2022 is 24.5 and usually does 23 on a ling trip, the 392 gear would get 1-2 less.
I’m drive 70-75 with 60% freeway, 40% city. On long freeway trips through the flat Central Valley of CA, I can squeeze out 15/16mpgs.
Yea me too same my 392 gear in my truck and I can drive all the way to Ohio 8 Hour Dr. on one tank of gas
Are average about 23 miles per gallon
Yea, at 50 mph maybe
You'll notice in the video he says 'Here's the start/stop feature that I always turn off' that makes a huge difference
I thought the only 1500 with the 11k Towing was the 4x2 with the long bed? Good information! 👍👍👍
The hemi has a recall for the engine shutting off while driving. I have the v6 e torque 2021 54k miles no issues.
Thats why I am keeping my 2016 4x4 4thgen, why to pay for a dif costume for extra 20 to 30 k, if I can add them to my truck and make it a monster, and still pay gas money hehe
Man, I dont have hardly any of these issues, hmm
The forums are riddled with unhappy folks. If you’ve got a pickup that hasn’t had these problems then hold onto it and enjoy. They really are great pickups. Just not worth their asking price imo. Maybe after 3-4 years of use
Every driver will get different mpg, raising the front 2” is really upsetting the aerodynamics
local dealer has a 2020 ram bighorn/ lonestar with the normal hemi has 90k miles but they have it at 23k and its a 1 owner im about to jump on it
Have you ever had any issues out of the transfer case? Seen alot of bad things about the clutch driven transfer case on forums but your truck seem to perform flawless.
I actually really liked the clutch driven TC. I uploaded an off-road review on the truck last July where I pushed it pretty hard. The pickup handled it beautifully.
I have a 2022 warlock 5.7 hemi no e-torque. I'm getting 17-18 around town and over 20 on the hiway. Problem with e-torque, that nobody's talking about is how much horse power it takes to run the e-torque. It takes about 12 horse power to run the old type fans so I can imagine it takes quite a bit to run e-torque. They also don't tell you about how much it costs to replace the 48v battery. ($8,000). It's the same as the start-stop feature, it's a joke. I've two vehicles with start-stop and I've tested it several time with it on and off and I always get better MPG with it off. Just another sales pitch .
i have an 2021 etorque now but before a had regular hemi 2013 and 2018 same mpg for all of them in my case around 12 in town, still love the truck so im good
You should get a Tow Package if you want to "tow".
I have a 2014 Ram 1500 Crew Cab 5.7l short bed that tows a travel trailer that is 29ft tongue to back. 5400lbs empty.
Add full water, clothes and storage across the whole front of the trailer and you are looking at over 6,000lbs. I sometimes forget its back there......
WITH A FREAKING "TOW PACKAGE"!!!
Come on man. Know how to use your truck.
You need a .... "Tow Package".
Wow!!!!
Tell me you don’t know what comes in the “tow package” without telling me lol. Gotta look at the actual specs. Utilizing a Uhaul trailer negates the biggest addition to the truck via a “tow package” option - the brake controller. The mirrors are the only other addition via that package. All lvl 2 equipped ram 1500s come with class 4 receivers, HD oil coolers, big alt., etc. Do some research before commenting dude.
I have same year same engine, 4x4 off road and tow package groups. No mods yet. As for 1/2 tons go I have never been impressed with any manufacturers tow #'s because in my experience it was always a "white knuckle" experience with any decent weight behind me. Acceleration, STOPPING, and as you said "getting pushed around". Now I'm talking hd trailers, loaded grain wagons, anhydrous nitrogen tanks. Absolutely go with a 3/4 or 1 ton diesel for those/your common applications. But also, even though it shouldn't, IMO, Anytime you level a 1/2 ton and then you put that tongue weight on it completely disrupts the handling of the 1/2 ton alot more than the larger trucks unless you compensate for it with rear airbags or such. My truck doesn't come close to Rams stated MPG either but in fairness i don't go on long drives as of yet either to get data. I am gonna put in a S&B CAI along with a tuner very soon in order to turn off the MDS, hopefully get better performance and mpg, or at least stay about the same mpg, out of her. I think that even if you did these mods your not gonna get what you hope for out of a 1/2 ton. Now for you guys with the 5th wheel or gooseneck trailers don't even bash this post because that is a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT handling experience (fo the better) with ANY truck, i am talking added tongue/hitch weight. I wish level kits didn't affect pulling (heavy) hitch trailers with 4x4 1/2 ton trucks but in my experience they do and ALOT more than a 3/4 or 1 ton. All manufacturers lie on their #'s but i think Ram really streches theirs at least on mpg. Get your 3/4 or 1 ton, sacrifice the ride quality but have what you need
Lol I think you got a lemon, I’ve never had leaking in any of my rams from the tail lights. Still get 18-20mpg, get about 500 miles to a tank
Maybe. I know of a few others with similar disappointing results. It appeared as though this ram would only enter “eco” mode under 60mph. The brake light is a widespread issue.
The instantly leaking third brake light and the manifoild bolts breaking off around 40,000 miles are the two most common failures on the entire platform.
@@robertannable9584 I have never had one leak from the third brake light and I’ve been driving Ram trucks for a long time.
I have a 2021 3.6 big horn bro with 35 lol with 2 in leveling kit I get 13.1 Nile per gallon lol
I get 17-21 on mine. I have mods, but I didn't lift the front end. I put all terrain tires on mine and lost one mile per gallon. Towing I only get 13.
Leveling the front was definitely the main cause for the drop in mpg. Prior to leveling the truck, I was averaging high teens.
I get average 19mpg in my 2020 v6 ram. Ppl need to just understand the reality of the world if your towing once in a while a pop up, a trailer of toys, lawnmower or a boat. Most things are under 4000lbs a v6 will do it. Ppl get these v8s like they are pulling a bulldozer everyday, 85% of ppl don't need a v8 unless you use it for work. If your pulling 5000+ and you need a v8 you need a 2500 or bigger and lets face it if your camping twice a year you dont need a huge camper or truck that big. You see all these v8s on the road and 95% of these ppl have never pulled anything that they need a v8 for they just like burning money driving it everyday.
Exactly. If you go on any online group, youtube comment, etc. it's full of ego boys acting like a truck needs a v8 for validation 😂. Besides ego, what are you buying a v8 for? So you can cut off your muffler and make it loud? Cause we know you ain't towing shit, and you only hook something up so you can take a picture for ya fb group lol.
I've had 3 Silverados, and I live in Chicago doing contract work for multiple properties. I tell my boys I was getting 8mpg with the 08 5.3 in the city, but getting 15.8 with my 4.3 now. Have only towed once with any of my trucks. In 10 years, why the f do I need a v8
actually a v6 is better for contractors if you don't tow because the lighter the engine means the more weight you can put in the bed of your truck. That's why work trucks have a v6 in them standard and the v8 is optional.
Wrong.....
I have a 2014 Ram 1500 Crewcab and it pulls a 26ft travel trailer that weighs around 6,000lbs everywhere including up pretty steep grades. Its because I have the tow package and know how to use it with gear up and gear down.
Sometimes I forget the trailer is back there. So you cant tell everyone they need a 3/4 ton truck that rides rough just to to over 5,000lbs. Thats just horse shit. Plenty of power and smooth with the 5.7l Hemi.
I beg to differ.
Not being fair to the truck. You have to have trailer brakes when towing heavier trailers.
The tow wasn’t that heavy. That’s the thing. It was a lightweight race car. About 5k lbs for the car and trailer combined. I liked the truck. It just wasn’t worth the money given it’s performance.
Is the $1600.00 for front and rear seats? Just wondering as i just bought a 2023 Warlock
Yes, that was front and rear seats with installation
@@sorta_stock Thanks, i might check it out, truck will be paid for in a few months. You should be able to get a good price for your truck as i was looking at used 1st and when i considered the cost of used with high mileage and unknown maintenance records which i am fussy about i just bought a new one. I got mine for
$42,800 with plenty of useful options like tow pack which includes 355 gears
[for the V-6], power and heated rear window, power driver's seat and full-length console, fog lights, tow hooks, full sized spare and other things, list was $52,000. It just hit 500 miles and on the 2nd fill up i got 16.8 MPG mixed so not complaining though the HEMI is supposed to get the same mileage or close but it was on the lot and buyers take whats available. My truck will have an easy life without towing, yes i like power from time to time so maybe in the future i will get a Big Horn HEMI and the 392 gears? Higher tier trucks now are far from cheap, easy to spend 65-70 grand on a loaded RAM, a Tacoma costs as much as i paid for mine and it has the 6 ft 4 bed because mine is the quad cab so i am more than happy with mine.
3.21 that's where you messed up. I tow all the time, travel trailer all loaded up. No problem at all even in Vale Colorado. 9 mpg towing in that environment but 18-22 any other time on the highway and 17 mixed.
The 3.21s weren’t really that noticeable when towing to be honest. The truck has more than enough power for the job. I figured the gears would improve mpg unloaded but, I just didn’t see it.
Where did you get those blue knobs ?
Picked them up from Amazon for around $15 bucks
5:08 it actually most likely the cab “exhausters.” Cheap little plastic parts between cab and bed that let air out of the cab. They are the biggest offender for leaks, and people often mistake the leak to be coming from the center tail light or window
Honestly, I think what affected you was the lift. Even a 2in can have a big effect on naturally aspirated cars. You CAN get away with it in a turbo’d vehicle.
Be careful with the Diesel rams.
They are no longer like the pre 2007 diesels. All kinds of emission controls on them and they do not get the same fuel milage and are very unreliable because if any of the emission control equipment fails that causes issues with engine. Very expensive to fix and the dealerships are full of them being repaired so it takes forever.
You should choose the classic if you don’t like the auto start/stop and save some money. I feel the most thing that e-torque help is for start the engine.
Unnoticeable shifting also
When you drive with your right foot planted to the firewall you are going to get 12mpg.
Drove my 99 Ram 1500 the exact same way. It too got around 12mpg. Go look at the 5th gen Ram forums and see how common 12mpg is with these trucks.
Haha I get that on a good, flat highway, my man! Really getting on the pedal in one of these trucks will get you about 9 mpg. Same with towing. Still the best half-ton money can buy. The Hemi V8 and ZF-8 speed are an absolute rear-wheel-drive-dream together.
I get consistent 18mpg with mine and I tend to have a heavy foot
My 21 5.7 torque gets 21.2 without towing. Just got it and this is after a 1000 mile average
Crazy. My 20 5.7 etorque gets 18.5 average . 23highway 15. City
I have a 2021 Etorque Limited(5.7 V8) I average about 21 mpg and driven 510 miles to a full tank. I have a 27 gallons tank..If you changing a lot of components then you may have cause the issue yourself.
Only the 2” level was added. Before the level, I was averaging about 16mpg. Are you in a very flat area?
5 bucks a gallon!!! 🤣🤣🤣 Man, that California sunshine sure is expensive.
You can’t say the “hybrid” if you literally say you turn it off. You’re burning so much gas sitting at lights. I turned mine off to until I realized its benefits. It also adds over 100lbs of torque
I didn’t do a lot of city driving when I had it so, the start/stop feature wasn’t a factor in the poor fuel economy. Plus, the system would never truly be off. It still applies torque during transmission shifts and acceleration from a stop. I’ll take a standard “non-hybrid” version any day of the week.
Did you level yours?
Yup. Used Fox coilovers to level it
@@sorta_stock Okay are you happy with the 33" tires after leveling? Trying to decide what I'm going to do!
Two things you didn't mention - the gear ratio (you did say it was like Rebel, so I am assuming you have 3.92) and Fuel tank size. I am in process of buying one with 3.21 and I am going to go for 33 Gallons tank. 26 gallon is also an option, but what is surprising is that most 2023 Ram with 5.7 were ordered with 23 gallon tanks by dealer, at least in my area.
I mentioned that it has the 3.21s early on in the video. I didn’t mind the ratio from a drivability standpoint. Did good offroad as well. I’d be afraid to see what my mpgs would’ve been with 3.92s. This Ram had the 23 gal fuel tank. I’m not sure why such a small tank is even offered tbh.
@@sorta_stock Thanks and sorry I missed that detail. Wow, that is disappointing MPG with 3.21. Agree 23 gallon on V8 should not even be offered as an option.
If you can drive the truck with 33 gallons without stopping you are a champ. That's about 9 hours without a stop.
Should never even come close to towing max on 1500....especially a Ram....had 21 Laramie and wasnt that impressed, dumped it after 6 months thank god market was bananas so didnt lose a dime....got a 2500 and never going back to 1500....just on bed space alone.....5ft box is a joke
My 5.7 got 12mpg avg, beautiful motor but not for MPG.....they are notrious for sucking gas
22 mpg @ 60mph
These etorque systems are back by 80k mile warrenty I believe
They’ve got decent coverage but, the dealership won’t give you a lender vehicle and they’ll usually hold your truck for a few weeks through completion
$1600 for seats, please don’t when complaining about $5 a gallon
Do you understand that $5-6/gal equates to an extra $3,000 in fuel within a single year? (calculating a 12k mile average)
I don’t follow. You tow? But purchase something with no trailer brake controller? No brakes on trailer. Plus change suspension? So I am not quite sure what you’re reviewing.
Really? Hard to understand that many people opt for a level truck while still expecting it to complete basic functions? My gen 3 is lifted 6”… tows like a dream. Even with a simple uhaul trailer
There must be something wrong with your RAM I travel a lot and I averaged 22
Maybe. I do know of many other 5th gens that get horrible mileage but, maybe it’s a freeway speed thing. Here in CA we average 75mph on the freeway
A 5000 lb trailer with no brakes ! no wonder it pushed the truck , how else was it supposed to stop ? Here in Europe any trailer over 1650 lbs must be fitted with brakes !
Those rental trailers have a braking system but, it’s an automatic system that requires the towing vehicle to brake first. Means you can’t set a drag to straighten it out while coasting down hill.
@@sorta_stock Ahh , over run brakes . we have the same system here in Europe
Bro, what the are you doing with those blue dials, and aftermarket leather seats. Lmao, no bedliner either you never needed a truck.
So what’s next?
Nvm
bench seat is better.
2019 ram limited POS!!! never again. Worst mistake of my life! Currently waiting on my court date as I am suing the manufacturer. 😢
I’m definitely not a fan of the heavy technology integration. I went back to a gen 3 mega cab and couldn’t be happier.
No need to talk down on rebel, rebel wheels 🤣
Really, you’re not cool, officer 🤣
You lost me. Rebels are cool pickups. Not a lot different than this particular Bighorn. The wheel & tire combo they have were good enough for me to seek them out.
that mpg is sus
?
It’s just an overpriced FIAT 😂😂😂
The EPA rating is kinda full of shit still. They don't factor in tires. Those tires hurt you more than you think. Not only is the tread more drag, but there is more mass as well. Is your speedo still accurate after that? Most trip computers MPG are not that accurate. Then the suspension stuff you did, doesn't help either. Those 5.9 cummins only get 15mpg empty.
Step dad's '22 Silverado 1500 5.3 2wd crew short got 15mpg going 80mph on a road trip. Gas tank was 24-26gallons.
As someone who tows with a car (Coil suspension) I got a lot less shudder from the trailer when I added airbags. I think all rams and the Raptor have coils in the rear and it makes them horrible for towing. Around '18 my bosses got the new ram 1500. 4x4, 5.7. One was complaining how it didn't tow good compared to his old f150. ('13?)
Have swapped between the same tires with my gmc with 3.0 duramax. Went from 22mpg to 19-20, pretty significant impact, I think 10-15% is pretty normal going to an aggressive tread
Raising the truck increases wind drag and reduces MPG you should know that.
