I always use K&N filters, on my wife's Jeep, my HD Limited, and my 2021 Ram Laramie... I like that a 1" wrench will fit on the "nut" that K&N uses on their filters. Great video, TY!
QUICK TIP: Slightly loosen oil filter but, not so much where oil starts to leak down, Take a gallon ziplock bag, cut one of the corners off to create a funnel. Zip tie the ziplock bag around the filter as tight as possible. Take a #2 phillips screw driver and slide it into the hole in the corner of the ziplock bag you made previously. With the screw driver inserted into the ziplock bag, use a hammer to TAP THE SCREWDRIVER GENTLY, punching one or more holes into the bottom of the oil filter. DO NOT HAMMER IT LIKE A BLACKSMITH TRYING TO WORK STEEL FRESH FROM A FORGE. Allow to drain fully, then remove the filter while the ziplock bag is still zip tied to the filter. No fuss, no mess and no extra cleanup needed. You're Welcome!
This is a Great video it help me a lot because I have 2017 hemi just or similar truck now that I know how to do it I will save this video thank you so much have a great Day
Thank you very much. Just so you know, the oil filter may be in a different spot. I had a 2016 Ram and the oil filter was more on the left side. Just be on the lookout for it. The concept is the same though!
Just a few minor things that were covered under warranty. My windshield had a defect so it got replaced and my brake caliper had a noisy spring. Overall I absolutely love it.
Great video! How many miles did you have on your truck when you changed it? Mine is about to hit 4,600 and I was thinking I should change it but if the computer in it is reliable then I'll wait. It's saying I still have 50% oil life left.
For the first change it was right around 1500 miles. I'll use the computer to tell me when it's due going forward but I wanted to knock the first one out before 2,000 miles.
Well I got it Done and it sure runs a lot quieter! Thanks again for the detailed video! I made a little mess in the garage but nothing a little kitty litter couldn't fix.
I would never use any mobile 1 products. Where I used to work they bought Mobile ! and their stuff is garbage. The oil was bad and the grease used to separate in the tube. I worked for Shell oil for many years where the grease products were made and grease should never separate.
Do NOT use Mobil 1 in your Ram 1500 (3rd or 4th Gen). It does not meet the requirements of MS-6395. It's in your owner's manual. Look at the back of the oil container. It has to say Chrysler MS-6395. If you ever have engine or valvetrain failure and you use Mobil 1, Chrysler will not honor the warranty for the engine. I'm not saying anything bad about Mobil 1 but use it at your own risk.
I just bought 7 quarts of Mobil 1 0w 20 for my 22 Ram 1500 5.7 yesterday. And they DID in fact have the Chrysler MS-6395 stamp on the back of the bottle.
Mobil 1 now has the approved ms-6395 stamped on there new oil bottles and also on there website. But you are correct back then they didn’t have the approvals.
Put a sandwich bag around the filter, it gets the extra oil and does not make a mess.
What a great idea...thank you!!
I know this was a year ago… but damn. I love it

Best Video Yet on a Ram 1500 Oil Change. I have a 2022 Ram Limited 5.7 HEMI, this is exactly the same as my Dodge.
Thank you!
Thank you don't burn the House down for this video 👍
You made it look easy. I have a RAM 1500 5.7 hemi and I only put pennzoil 😊
Have u tried others?why only.pennxoil
Nice video, thanks. I might suggest loosening/removing oil cap before drain,,,,it provides a better, more thorough drain.
Another quick tip is to fill the oil filter half way before install. Helps the oil pump upon first start. Thanks
The oil on the new oil filter doesn't seal it, it helps keep the seal from sticking to the oil filter housing when you go to take it off.
Great VIDEO. THANKS!
Thank you!
Great vid nice easy explanations ...I just subscribed
Thank you very much!
Cool dashboard!!!
Thanks!
Great video thanks!
Thank you!
Wow that’s cheaper than doing it yourself amazing
Extra jacks. Smart guy.
Always! Safety first!
Oh man. The oil filter and drain plug are in way better spots on the 08 😅 I think I'll spend the extra money for now..
Great video man! You gotta wonder why they put it in such a goofy spot. Maybe because they moved the engine deeper
Thanks! And who knows. I think engineers simply hate us customers. 😂

I came here to get an idea of an easy way to get the filter off and both when the filter was being removed and installed, the camera cut lol
Thank you
You don't put the plug back until the filter is removed so the flow is 100%
Do u have a link for that oil wrench?
Great video!!
Thank you! Here's one that is comparable.

Hey how happy are you with your ram truck have you had any problems with your ram. I just bought one so I'm nervous. Let me know nice video.
Just a few minor things that were covered under warranty. My windshield had a defect so it got replaced and my brake caliper had a noisy spring. Overall I absolutely love it.

@@dontburnthehousedownvideos well shoot..guess I better pickup some oil and a filter for this weekend then. Thanks
Well I got it Done and it sure runs a lot quieter! Thanks again for the detailed video! I made a little mess in the garage but nothing a little kitty litter couldn't fix.
I’m at that point now what filter and oil u recommend
Next time use a gallon ziplock bag over the filter to prevent oil spills on the rack and pin.
What size oil filter cap wrench
What side is the oil filter on? driver or passenger side? I got under my truck and didn't see it. Maybe I am just blind.
Passenger side. You can reach over the front axle to unscrew it if you can't get it from the bottom.
Also put oil in the filter before installing it
why?
Where do you live that you can get a full synthetic on a ram for $ 80 ?
Honestly, my local shop here will do a full synthetic for $40 for 5 quarts. The Ram is $50. I stopped changing my own oil thanks to their prices. 😂
25$ for one 5 gallon 😥
I just spend 41$ on the same 5 gallon at autozone rn
My 22 oil cap reads 0w-20.
Really? And it's the 5.7 hemi?
My 22 5.7 also says 0w20...
Must have changed it from 21 to 22.
@@dontburnthehousedownvideos they did my 21 has 5w-20 on my cap
My 22 that I bought almost 2-weeks ago call’s for 0W-20.
That’s an etorque

So...... 5th gen is good?
Sorry I meant 4th or 5th Gen Ram 1500.

Do not start engine with no oil in it,,,,,and don't drive towards a tornado
Unless you're Bill Paxton or Helen Hunt. Then go nuts.
Don’t be afraid to get oil on the camera.
