@@punctuationman334 yeah, the Commando Droid would probably perform at least as well at being a special forces soldier, but a Magnaguard would stomp one in open combat. An IG-86 would be a fun matchup for sure though
Nice little a Christmas story refrence there. It is phrik technically but I figured that's what you probably meant. That's the only "Frick" that comes to mind. Clever!
I think a good explanation for that would be that cortosis in canon can’t really be fitted in to these droids without hindering movement significantly and maybe increasing overall profile to.
Just use an outer layer of the same Phrik alloy as the electrostaves and it'll be fine. I suspect that wasn't the case only because of Palpatine/Sidious and his background machinations. He didn't want these droids, let alone Grievous himself, to be TOO difficult to destroy, just difficult enough that they would serve their purpose in his schemes.
Wait a second, Grievous personally train each and every one of them?!!?! In that case, then, losing a Magnaguard would be the equivalent of losing a clone trooper... Whenever you lost a clone trooper like Fives, Waxer, or Hevy (And Hardcase) you lost their unique personalities that came with each clone... So in a way, whenever Grievous lost one of his Magnaguard, he'd lose the training and skills possessed by that individual Magnaguard...
