+Stormtrooper Myles Have you seen the "Swedish" T-3B 1? A buddy of Ewan Mcgregors brother who is a interceptor pilot in the RAF knew one of the designers of The Swedish Gripen fighter. Lucas loved his design so much that he asked this Swedish designer if he could go to the US and help them design more spacecraft and being á Starwars fan he left SAAB Aerospace for 4 month and assisted in designing several of the space-crafts used in Revenge of the siths.
Personally, I always thought Palpatine purposely manipulated events behind the scenes to make sure the Jedi Starfighter's were designed without a hyperdrive. Without a hyperdrive, the Jedi could not escape Order 66 easily. Companies were able to get away with it by appealing to Jedi arrogance - the Jedi were getting a "superior" and "lightweight" fighter purposely designed for those with "higher reflexes". So the Jedi didn't really question the lack of protection, or look too deep into it.
Oh come on, if the whiny teenager Kylo Ren can stop a blaster bolt mid-air using the force technique. Then Jedi Masters and Grandmaster, who are supposed to have knowledge of advanced and exotic force techniques, can stop blaster and missiles in their tracks just like Magneto stops missiles fired at the mutants on the island in X-men: First Class. Basically every Jedi Master should be a Magneto on steroids in Force Powers. This logic alone proves that clone wars Jedi Council is Noob to use only lightsaber to deflect in large scale heavy combat.

I think Hasbro is the one responsible of that design. The toy version that they sold when the movie was released, could... transform in that monstrosity, but it was supposed to be Obi's ship. I'm not sure.
It's straight up from Hasbro when they released Obi-wans Delta 7 it had a transforming feature that would turn it to that mode, a huge part of the wings would pop off then s-foils pop out. It's just ridiculous
I loved this Star Fighter, but there should have been various types of Fighters for non force users. This fighter could also being a inspiration for the TIE Fighters for its speed, but the controls of the Fighters being so sensitive to even the pilots.
I agree with Jedi like Anakin modding the hell outta ships like the ETA-2 & Delta-7/7b. But I like Delta-7B since you can have a separate astromech droid.
In Star Wars Saga RPG, I designed an A-Wing with Green Squadron livery that took the Delta-7 approach, including a full size, asymmetric astromech socket for my R4 droid companion. That particular ship helped in bringing down General Grievous. My party mutually agreed that our version of Order 66 events was vastly improved. :)
My favorite thing about this whole fighter is the look of it, the shape of it. It's built by Kuat. And would you believe it... they literally shrank a star destroyer wedge hull down to the size of a one-man fighter, because Kuat gonna Kuat I guess.
I find myself being slightly reminded of a similar kind of high-speed glass-cannon, the CFA-44 Nosferatu introduced in Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation. I wonder how Anakin would react to getting one of those…

Flying is for droids, but not for fancy droids. Obi-Wan's aristocratic personality is one of the highlights of the prequels. Also, he must have had some input on the Delta-7B because apparently the astromech droid sits directly in the middle of the pilot's field of view.
2:26 "5000G". This is why numbers in sci-fi lore can be so confusing. 5000G equals to an acceleration of 5000 * 9.81m/s^2 lets say 50km/s^2. The max speed of 1260km/h equals to a speed of ~0.35km / s. So, this thing could reach it's top speed (assuming acceleration is constant) within 0.35 / 50 = 0.007s or 7ms. Even ignoring the fact that a maximum speed in space doesn't make sense (there are different limitations but only when we start thinking about fuel, and speeds close to light speed). These numbers mean that once you press down the pedal, your brain is mush. Basically, when you try to explain your fiction with science and you're using real-life numbers and concepts, usually you're just poking holes in your lore.
