    I have a 2020 wrangler rubicon and would really love to get one of these. Jeep messed up big when they jacked the prices up so high. Greed kills.

    I had a lot of haters online call me stupid for buying a Gladiator. I bought it with 25k and it has 50k on it now. I’ve not had one issue. My buddy bought the new Colorado and it’s been sitting in his driveway while he continues to pay for it, as the dealer couldn’t fix or identify the issue. Toyotas had some issues with their turbos on the Tundra, ford has more recalls than any other company ever. The V6 in my gladiator is proven and dead reliable. Might not be the most powerful or engaging. But it’s reliable.

      Agree on the Pentastar V6. My 2023 Mojave drivetrain has been flawless. It's got plenty of power for my use but I don't drive it like a sports car. Passengers are surprised how smooth and refined the whole package is. In a perfect world I'd prefer a fixed steel roof. I've owned Tacomas and Frontiers and liked them but none had the off-road prowess of the Gladiator.

      I have a new 2021 Gladiator (Rubicon) I bought new in 2021 (April) so Gladiators hadn't been out that long at the time -- it's been great, just 2 minor issues (and fixed under warranty). As per usual though, some gave me grief as well saying "Jeep is Chrysler/Fiat crap" -- AND overpriced (but compare prices TODAY!) -- mine's been great so farin just over 3 years or ownership. However, I DID get an extended warranty for it just before the 3- year one expired (the very same week!) -- just in case (but a Mopar/Chrysler warranty, not one of those problematic/crap 3rd-party/aftermarket) so I'm good until 2029.
      Nice...
      Be it driving/seat comfort/smooth-riding (and tight steering!) on the HWY during my occasional long (3-state, TX/NM/CO) road-trips or off-road, it does everything I need ti to do. AND it tows what I need it to as well.
      If I HAD to buy a new vehicle today (and again, restricted to the mid-size segment), the only 2 choices for me would be another Gladiator (Rubi) or, a Chevy Colorado ZR2. As much improved as the current ZR2 is, I'd still go with the Gladiator, no hesitation.

      They have gone insane on pricing. I bought a 2020 JLUR, in 2020, for 48.5k (~3% interest) out the door with an MSRP of 52k. That same Jeep spec’d similarly, now costs about 63k with ~8% interest and they act like they can’t give anything off MSRP. No thank you…

      Their crazy... I looked at the rubicon x 4xe in green the other day, it was really nice, I saw that their discounting it by $12k ... it's now $61k..that's still alot of money ... when you look at what else you can buy at that price there is alot of luxury product alternatives with off-road capability out there .. granted jeep is purpose built and doesn't best but other products go nearly everywhere it can and 99% won't tread where only jeep can go except hard core offeoaders and that crew is not buying the top of the line wrangler their buying lower end and modifying it. So for schmucks like me I wanna go on the beach and light off-roading but at the $70k mark I have to get luxury to do it or I don't buy it as the value simply is not there. So I'm gonna be looking at the new Lexus gx. Also the Land Cruiser, the g wagon is cool but ridiculous in price ..

    There are a lot of BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Lexus and Tesla owners in my neighborhood, but the look on their faces when I drive by in my gloss black Gladiator is clearly one of abject envy. Sure, we all paid way too much for these vehicles, but I am pretty confident that they are not as happy with their purchases as I am with mine.

    My Wife got her JL Wrangler Sahara in 2018 and hit 100k this year. The only issue has been the stop/start battery dying once and the head unit needed to be replaced once. My 2022 Willy’s Gladiator is about 27k miles with 0 issues. I’ve accepted that it’s a Jeep and not any of the sports cars I’ve owned over the years. I don’t feel like the V6 is a slouch unless I’ve got it loaded up. Honestly if Jeep would just beef up the weak payload number and the V6 a little bit, I could take my family of 5 and our gear out on trips with a little more confidence.

    I like the red dash. Gives one a bigger feel. It's like the feature wall on a room. I have the 2020 Jeep Rubicon Gladiator 70k, with it regeared to 5:13 and 35 inch tires. Just installed a Rugged Ridge HD Stubby bumper. I got a special order Gorrilla glass windshield. The dealer did not warranty the replacement windshield in the two year warranty. At 59K I had to replace the rocker arms and lifters in the engine under warranty. I think the long 8K oil change interval and 0W20 oil instead of 5W20 or 5W30 is the cause. I like the unit.

  • @LOLewie

    I got a 23 Gladiator High Altitude. with the current rebates it was a decent deal. I didn't see the point of the Rubicon , Because like people have said, the departure angle is awful. So I don't need a rock crawling beast. Something that can handle light trails, or the occasional light flooding from a storm while everyone is stuck at home. That's all I need.
    I also don't need to tow an excavator. So the towing and payload are fine for me.
    And honestly, I dont know what it is. I know its not fast, doesn't handle the greatest. But when I drive this truck. I really enjoy it. I love how solid the doors sound when closing them. The truck feels robust. I like how the dashboard isn't deep like 99% of the vehicles today where you need a 4 foot squeege to clean the inside. Just very satisfied right now.

    • @Day7Reset
      @Day7Reset 5 месяцев назад

      That was my impression as well. Still surprises how tough and bolted together it is. Had four 3rd gen Tacoma and could never get true satisfaction from them. But the first test drive in the Gladiator and was sold. The Sport Altitude was the sweet spot to be honest. My only regret was not getting the bed Rino lined. Otherwise, its been the perfect do everything vehicle.

    • @billredding2000
      @billredding2000 4 дня назад +1

      I was just the opposite; I "didn't see the point" of a High Altitude (H-A) at all: More expensive than my Rubi (the H-A is the most expensive Gladiator trim-level) but WAY less capable. And STREET TIRES on it. Wow...
      Still, the H-A is nice but I passed on it as to me, it was mostly cosmetics -- and that does absolutely nothing for me on or off-road. Back then the Gladiator Mojave wasn't (April 2021) out yet, but it really wouldn't have been a choice, either, as the Rubi is more at home in CO that a Mojave is. So even if the Mojave HAD been out, I'd still have gone Rubicon.

      @@LOLewie I got nothing for my Rubi -- it's still stock, and even stock is Top Dog (performance/capability) as-is right from the factory. For me, no larger tires, no lift kit, re-gearing or even a Tazer (or similar). In fact, when my original tires wear out (Falken Wildpeak 33" A/T3W) I'll probably go with them again, even though there's now the A/TW4 (and Rubitrek).

Mine has 220 thousand miles on it and I expect it to be a bit stiff on the ride but I know that it's built to be its best off road not to go get the groceries. @PeakDecline 5 месяцев назад

      I don't think the 2.0L turbo found in the Wrangler would work. Too low displacement. And I don't think they've designed that block to make some larger displacement version like in a 2.4L or 2.7L. I don't think the Hurricane is coming this generation either unless its put in a product that replaces the 392 and therefore costs $80K+. If you want more power in a Gladiator... I think you're going to need to wait until 2025 when the 4XE version arrives (which I'm also betting money isn't based on the 2.0L but uses the 3.6L Pentastar instead) or buy one of the few 2023 EcoDiesels still available. The Pentastar is itself is probably going to get updated again soon. Clearly Stellantis is commited to it in many ways. They're using it as the range extender engine in the upcoming Ram 1500 REV for instance. The Pentastar is a reliable, well known, simple to work on engine.

    990 lbs payload is a joke. That’s absolutely pathetic. That barely covers 4 people and their luggage. I WANT to get a Gladiator for my new business, but I can’t justify it. Putting a camper/tent combo on the back eats up 500 lbs right off the top. That’s before adding my gear. I’m switching my original plans around and going with a ‘24 4Runner. Hoped to get more info on difference between 23 and 24. First time Jeep ever has electric seats and you completely ignore them. No mention of what is included in X package compared to regular Rubicon. You "reviews" are not reviews. Up your game.

    I'd never buy a gladiator without a V8 or a 300ci+ in-line V6. 285HP is insufficient for a truck with any longevity IMO. Jeep keeps missing the boat. When people look at this, they go "cute truck", not what you want to hear. Let me know when they put a solid inline v6 in it, then i'd take another look...

    Rubicon x should be around $50k loaded with better insulation and jeep needs to angle the damn windshield, and affix it, because nobody is folding it down, if some nut wants that then option it, make it quieter… keep improving quality and use of higher end materials too…

    • @DUNEATV
      @DUNEATV 5 месяцев назад +1

      Absolutely do not mess with the windshield on a jeep wrangler! Are you nuts? go by yourself a Toyota RAV4 and stop suggesting that Jeep ruin the only cool, truly off-road vehicle currently for sale!

    • @MarkR973
      @MarkR973 5 месяцев назад

      @@DUNEATV I've not seen one with a folded down windshield ever on road or off road by me and eventually their gonna have to affix it for sound quality purposes to compete, or make it an option. Would love to see a fixed top option too, for even better sound insulation, also they need much better sound insulation in that one touch folding roof, other convertible vehicles in the price range are whisper quiet, so it can be done . for those of us who can afford $70k or more for a vehicle we don't want a vehicle we can't even have a conversation in, leaving these sadly as still strictly second car weekend fun vehicles... except for the true hard core off-roaders. jeep is improving it, thankfully, and they should also thank Ford because competition forced them to improve helping them to slow the loss of market share. Their lucky for that too because eventually with continual rising prices and the junk they were building just a few short years ago they would be shedding even more buyers. You can only screw the consumer for so long. Btw Their selling broncos like hot cakes and I'm seeing jeeps now heavily discounted on lots so they've lost significant market share in my area. I'd rather have a jeep over a bronco but it's not there yet for me. I'm not sold on the whole jeep community thing to make me spend, having to blast my stereo to deafen the wind noise is just unacceptable to me, I want quality for $70k plus in any vehicle as everyone should expect. Allot of the people I know with same finances feel exactly the same way about vehicles. It's cool and fun but make it more drivable and livable as most are not hardcore off-roading, and regardless they can do that without affecting its capability. To each his own, it's your money, enjoy what you drive. Be well.

    People are complaining about paying this much for a vehicle in 2024, get areal job then losers, and the most unreliable vehicle on the road compared to a bmw. Mercedes, Audi, Land Rover, Range Rovers that cost more and have the worst resale value out there, every one I know that have these vehicles are constantly bitching about the constant issues they have, I’ve never had any issues with any of my jeeps, they have the least amount of technology in them for a modern day car which makes them more reliable idiots! And the solid front axel and the old school steering is much more reliable then ifs and rack and pinion steering, and most the vehicles out have a turbo on them is the worst thing possible, guaranteed issues nothing better than naturally aspirated!

Reliability they all(cars and trucks) break down now and my Jeeps have not given me any problems, so most unreliable is a stretch and not true.
