You forgot to mention that while they were tearing the team apart last year, they doubled the cost of parking, almost doubled seat prices, eliminated vendors while also raising concessions, and took away a lot of the perks for season ticket holders
How many teams must we all watch leave before we start to think maybe there just isn’t enough fan support. Granted all Oakland teams were ass before leaving
Reminds me of what happened in Montreal. In 1994 the Expos had the best record in baseball and then the MLB strike hit and the season ended. Following this, the ownership in Montreal basically had a "garage sale" of all their best players and the city of Montreal would not help build a new ballpark so the team ultimately moved to Washington.
@Ryan Draper Act like you'd be comfortable spending money to hang out in a dilapidated stadium that smells like piss and shit to watch a team you know is just going to disappoint you worse than your first date because the owner is literally too rich to care about what fans want. Honestly who can blame A's/Raiders fans for staying away?
So unfortunate that such a solid development staff is completely wasted on a team that does not keep any of the players they develop, other teams would do anything to develop talent like Oakland did in the 2010s
They actually haven’t drafted well or developed anyone significant that they’ve drafted in some time. They’re recent trades haven’t been wins either. Their current GM is awful.
When WILL U OWN IT? You cant pay talent with empty seats, nor can you make long term commitments with the lowest attendance in MLB!!! You prefer the Owner to go BK for a short run of games and demolish his franchise...long-term. The A's are great at finding young talent and then developing it... To bad the Oakland drifters can't SHOW UP! the blame falls to all including MLB that makes it an unfair game if you cant put fans in the SEATS!
@@Fractalsandie I’m a white Sox fan and we traded Marcus Semien(who wasn’t any good or even highly touted at all) and Chris Bassitt(who was young but wasn’t showing a whole lot) for Jeff Samardzija, at the time seemed like a steal, but then Oakland took those two guys and turned them into great players for years. Then when it came time to pay them, they got rid of them for nothing because the owner’s cheap.
Thank you Fisher. I hope you are proud of this embarrassment. There has never been a cheaper, penny pinching owner in the history of baseball than you. Good riddance!
The sad thing is, he is probably fine with the current state of the franchise because it allows him to leave Oakland with little drawbacks as the team has angered fans so much. This was likely by design.
The ownership of the A’s has done this intentionally to get MLB to approve a move. They ran that team into the ground so the attendance would suffer thus giving them a reason to move the team. It’s a tragedy really that MLB sat back and let it happen. When the A’s move to Vegas it will be a completely different team that will be spending money and trying to compete.
Exactly. Who in their right mind would raise their ticket prices after going just 60-102 the previous season? Someone who is trying to keep the attendance low so they can move out of Oakland. It is really a sad situation. The city is going to lose the A's, Warriors and Raiders in under a decade.
@David Harrison The MLB is basically just a collection of the owners, and the commissioner works for the owners. Naturally MLB won't retaliate against the A's ownership because they don't disagree with why they are doing it. Nobody likes the current stadium situation, and since the city won't pay for a new stadium, that they'd almost certainly lose money on, the league supports the owner's decision to move. Often times the owners can't move unless they drop below a certain attendance level, so they are trying to drive down attendance. The league isn't built to stop owners from doing what they want, it's built to settle disputes between the owners and to make money.
A's used to be a team everyone looked up to as intelligent, gritty, etc. They seemed to always hover around 90+ wins somehow through shrewd management and good fundamentals. Now we have.... this. Its very sad really.
They were invincible when I became a fan of them in my childhood. I was 13 in '89 when they went against the Giants (my NL favs at the time). It was exciting and yet it felt like the worst thing because I would lose no matter who won, but there ended up being an earthquake at the start of Game 4 that forced me to reevaluate my idea of the "worst thing." The Bash Brothers, Ricky F*cking Henderson, Carney Lansford, Dave Stewart went like 21-4, Dennis Eckersley was literally invincible in the 9th inning, and this is really only the top of the iceberg. I'd have to study the team again but I know there's a lot more to talk about. And that was just one year out of a multi-year run.
13:56 Fact Check: The City of Oakland has never voted down an A’s stadium. It has never gone to a public referendum or city council vote. All ballpark pursuits have failed because of different reasons, and often outside Oakland city limits.
@@bamafan5099 There isn’t a source if something didn’t happen 🤪. You’re supposed to find a citation of the vote happening if you want to counter. Everything I said above are objective facts.
As a Oakland Native, the city wanted to build a new stadium for the A’s. They were interested in Howard’s Terminal which would’ve completely revitalized Oakland. However the A’s owner, John Fisher, refused to pay property taxes and kept delaying his decision. The Oakland mayor has come out in public showing their support of keeping the A’s in Oakland. I say this because you noted that the city of Oakland didn’t want to build them a new stadium… just a correction. Great video!
This. Oakland wants them to have a new stadium but isn't willing to let Fisher billionaire ass not pay taxes. Also he wants to collect the tax revenue from around the stadium too.
I hope they move to Vegas, maybe I'll watch them when visiting. Definitely will never visit Oakland. I mean who plans vacations to Oakland. I think these words have never been spoken "I'm going to Oakland for my vaca"
The As are to blame for the relocation. The city has offered the As more money to build the stadium, on more acres of land, on waterfront property, while also offering to pay for the stuff outside of the stadium, AND help pay for the stadium itself with more money that Nevada has offered. The As had made proposals to 3 different sites in Oakland with no effort. The As have not been negotiating in good faith. And Vegas law makers seem to already be tired of the team. Notice how NOT ONE SINGLE PROTOTYPE OF THE STADIUM HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED IN VEGAS. The city said that a deal was already 90% done, and there was a summit to be held, yet the As never showed up. They said that they were never leaving Oakland, yet MADE MULTIPLE BINDING AGREEMENTS TO BUY LAND IN VEGAS. On top of that, the As and Oakland signed an agreement to not talk about the new stadium, yet the As had the audacity to say that the city never supported the new stadium because they never said anything. Fisher is a joke. Fisher did this. #SellTheTeam #FisherOut
I truly hope the A's don't leave man. I'm a Giants fan, but still support and like the A's. The fans and the city doesn't deserve this. Fisher needs to sell the damn team.
No offense... but Oakland is a shithole. The value of the A's increases $1B just by moving OUT of Oakland. Seriously... what compelling argument is there to stay? The lackluster support by fans - (and again, no offense, nothing personal but the attendance is not very good and frankly never has been)? The scintillating relationship with that hot mess of a city government? And - for the third time, no offense - but Oakland isn't the most prestigious town to slap on your merchandise. Now all of this is not necessarily the A's OR Oakland's fault... a lot of the problem is California - where every civil engineering project costs 3 times as much and takes 3 times longer than planned, not to mention a populace who's sole purpose in life is to grind every attempt at progress or improvement to a halt. I've lived in the SF Bay Area for 60 years and have no illusions about this place. It's best years are behind it and everyone knows it. It's still a good place to call home if you're established here and lived here for multiple generations, but the only reason to come here now is the hope of some of that AI money. And the weather's pretty good.
I feel so bad for the 17 A's fans left. If you're still an A's fan at this point, I salute you for your dedication to a team who has shown no reciprocity in loyalty to you. You deserve better.
@@QuadCloudNine Boston. It's like a constant rollercoaster the past decade or so. One minute they're on top, next minute they're in last. Can't complain in comparison to the A's fans' experience, other than Chaim Bloom who seems to be doing his best to destroy the city. That is something we share in common: front office that isn't willing to spend unless we bring pitchforks to the stadium.
@@SconnerStudios Cool. Solid team. I think the Red Sox were right there with the A's in terms of moneyball tactics. Ya, ownership of the A's sucks, but otherwise being an A's fan is great. They are usually the underdog which is kinda cool, the fans are awesome, announcers are great, and they are still better than most teams. Since 2000, I think the A's have made the playoffs 11 times, which is pretty good, but I wish they went deeper.
@@Edwurrd_ no the owners are only half the problem the Oakland City council is the other problem the council thought that the Coliseum didn't need a renovation plus the A's are Philadelphia's team and they haven't played there for 70 years

Man we deserve better in Oakland. We’re such die hard fans, I’d argue some of the best fans in the league. Ownership is truly screwing us of our beloved A’s
I feel for this team. They were great in the early 1970's winning those World series in a Jammed pack Coliseum. I will never for that game against the Mets. I remember Willie Mays was called out at Home plate and raised his hands high. I met Willie Mays in 1982 and he was so nice. I digress. Yeah, The 1980's were a revival winning the WS in 1989. The 2000's wasn't always bad. They had a few good teams. Now they are bad. Praying for them to get better
The current situation reminds me of the A's in 1977-1979, when Charlie Finley couldn't compete in the early years of free agency and either let players go or traded them for minor leaguers and backups. The 1979 A's finished 54-108, which would have been the worst record of any major league team in the 1970s if that year's Blue Jays hadn't gone 53-109. Home attendance that year was 306,763; I remember listening to the KIRO radio broadcast of the April 17 game vs. the Mariners when the Seattle broadcasters kept dwelling on the low attendance, even by Oakland standards; it was finally announced at 653, but it was said that the actual attendance may have been 200. In 1978, the team didn't publish a yearbook, but at the Coliseum you could still buy old yearbooks and scorebooks going back to 1972. The 1978 scorecard consisted of a piece of paper with the numerical roster for each team, selling for 10c. At least the Coliseum wasn't falling apart then. There wasn't a radio deal at the beginning of the season, so for the first 16 games their games were carried by KALX, the Berkeley-based University of California station, with students calling the games. It was a 10-watt station that reportedly couldn't be heard inside the Coliseum or more than 10 miles away. As for the worst MLB team ever, you mentioned it when you mentioned the Spiders. Baseball being different then from now is irrelevant; they were losing to teams who were also playing 1899 baseball. The 1916 and 1915 Philadelphia Athletics posted the worst MLB records of the 20th century, and like the 1970s' Oakland team, they had an owner who was unable or unwilling to pay high enough salaries to his players to remain competitive. Like Finley, Connie Mack sold or traded some of his best players and replaced them with "prospects," and it took a decade before they became competitive again. After the next great Athletics era in the late 1920s-early '30s, Mack sold or traded some of his stars again in the middle of the Depression, and the team again dropped to or near the bottom for a long time.
I went to a game in Oakland in '79. The "crowd" was rather small but we saw history made as the A's starting pitcher Matt Keough lost his 14th game without a win to start the season. He finished with a 2-17 record. Another starter on that team, Brian Kingman, lost 20 games, which was his claim to fame for many years (as the last pitcher to lose 20 games in a season). When the Tigers had that really bad season in 2003 (43-119), Kingman lost that distinction as Mike Maroth lost over 20 games.
Not that bad compared to now there's no future in Oakland w a rundown stadium I'm surprised this stadium is allowed to be in use and not condemned by the city of Oakland
I visited the Oakland and was lucky enough to watch a rare A's home win against the Rangers in overtime. Probably what's going to end up being one of their best highlights this year. I feel bad for the Oakland fans. The diehards that still show up and the staff that work at the ballpark clearly love their team and deserve way better. As a Mets fan that lived through the embarrassment of the Wilpon family and has the 1962 Mets as one of the key historic teams in our franchise's history, I greatly sympathize with their plight.
Well put together, about 95% of it. The city of Oakland has its woes but was not entirely responsible for losing the Raiders and Warriors. That's for a deeper dive. I wish you could have mentioned the city and its work with Howard Terminal. Was the city about three years behind? Yes. But it is a valid proposal.
bryce miller was called up from AA to make his first major league start in oakland. there were more fans in the stands for his last start in arkansas than in his MLB debut
Honestly, I've been watching more A's games on the MLB network app than any other team. My team's games are blacked out, so I watch A's games just to see what goes wrong for this good group of players. BTW Ruiz is a beast! I also watch a lot of Pirates games...just because.
Absolutely tragic what has happened to the A's. I grew up during their early 70s World Series wins and still remember most of the players (Reggie Jackson, Vida Blue, Sal Bando, Catfish Hunter etc). The city of Oakland will now have lost all of its Major League sports teams (Raiders, Warriors, and now the A's). The owners of the A's are probably going to take the team to play in the Las Vegas AAA park until their new stadium is built (despite its smaller attendance capacity). I'm sure they'll draw better in the AAA park for a few seasons than they would in Oakland
I blame the city of Oakland more than anybody. They were legit and the team tried for years to get a new stadium, same with the raiders and the warriors. Nothing worse than wanting to invest and not being allowed to. I’d wait for the move to Vegas before I started dropping big money as well.
@@kilroywashere9678 buying professional sports franchises stadiums is a waste of taxpayer money. They're right not to give them anything more than a pittance.
@@kilroywashere9678 Stop it, the A's ownership has been dealing with Oakland in bad faith the entire time. It's all about the $$$ but it isn't like the city has been blocking the A's every step of the way. The opposite is far more true.
I remember back in 2018 thinking that in a few years the athletics would at least appear in a World Series in the next 5 years, I could never imagine how much things would change so drastically in those 5 years, it’s sad seeing this once historic franchise, looking like they would be a great team to watch again, become basically a triple A ball club. Hope things get better for the city of Oakland soon, my condolences from Boston.
I don't even think the A's ability wise are that bad of a team, but have just been mentally beaten down by the politics surrounding their stadium situation along with the fans not showing them full support in the rough times they're currently going thru.
Yikes! I have "visit every MLB stadium" on my bucket list and was going to try to go to the Colliseum before the A's move out... after seeing the state it's in, I think I'll pass. Thanks for the video!
Back in 1990, I was a junior in high school in a Seattle area suburb when my dad told me and my older brother we were going to drive down to Oakland to watch the season opener against our hometown Mariners. What I mostly remember was those annoying vuvuzela noisemakers made popular in the 2010 World Cup and I think the Mariners lost. I hated that A's team for the success they had and the cockiness of their players like Rickey Henderson, Jose Canseco and Dennis Eckersley. Having said that, no fan base or team deserves to be this bad.
Baseball is a game of records and statistics. In saying that the A's are the worst in MLB and using statistics , aren't the 1962 New York Mets at a record of 40 -120 , the worst ? Even at this stage of the season the A's cannot be as bad as the Mets !
The biggest “what if” story for the As is the 2020 season. What if the full 162 game season happened? What if the pandemic never happened? How many wins for the As with their competitive core? Would their deep playoff run save Oakland from ruin? The As would win 98 games and win the division (based on win pct from their 60 game season record). The As would’ve been to the ALCS but lose to the Rays with a better record.
It's probably not nearly so simple as that. If I'm headed in to work and they tell me it's gonna be a short night, I'll probably be more relaxed. But on the other hand, if my job was chasing statistical milestones as many players probably see it, it could have been a lot more stressful than normal. Math can be fun and probably would get you pretty close, but the psychology of that season had to be different than usual. It would be interesting to see a book about that.
As a 22 year old diehard A’s fan it’s so sad how they always have to get rid of their prospects once they become all stars and their contracts is up. This isn’t just a recent thing either this has being going on before they were even in Oakland.
Having been to many A's games as a child in the late 80's, early 90's, seeing the Coliseum in such disrepair and filth.....the Coliseum was not perfect, but it used to be a beautiful and clean venue. I would rather see the A's move and the Coliseum torn down, then to keep hearing about it in its rotting state.
jesus... A's are my favorite team since im from the bay area and since 2016 i been away from the sport just cos i been so busy but you just caught me up so many years! i feel like i havent been away i appreciate it! and shoutout Semien!
Sad really. In my teens in the '70s, Oakland always had a more than average classic sports vibe. Everybody thought I was crazy to be a Torontonian A's fan until they rolled on to be like;' the 1970s three-peat champions loaded with big names, from pitchers like Catfish, Rollie, Vida, and Blue Moon, to hitters including Reggie, Campy, Sal, Rudi, Tenace, and Fosse. I then soon got , 'Hey Philly, 'Cool hat..'
11:08 I'd like to correct you there. There's still another player on the roster currently that was there during the A's playoff push from 2018-2020. Paul Blackburn is still there. Not that it actually matters, though.
Now that we're three months on from when this video was posted, we can now see that the '62 Mets continue to claim the title of being the worst team ever.
😂 I would like to know who caused that toilet too clog. Lol me and my brother used to work for the clean up crew after Jays games at Rogers centre. My bro took a huge dump in one of the public bathrooms and ended up clogging the toilet.
In 1932 the Red Sox after 67 games had a record of 12-55 a win percentage of 17.9 %. The A's are currently 11-45 a winning percentage of 19.6% so they aren't off to the worst start ever since 1900. The Red Sox did end up with a record of 43-111 so they got a little better later in the season.
Two things: I like the pieces in their young rotation, a veteran presence would do wonders for their development. Also, they actually have a decent outfield with Rooker, Ruiz, Laureano, and Brown, so they could have some trade leverage to build around a great young backstop. But their bullpen is a mess and this might be the most nonexistent infield I’ve ever seen. I know they won’t win, but nobody is coming up through the minors to mend their problems. That’s organizational incompetence.
I wanna be a mlb player”--and gets sent to Oakland. Oh../. Fr tho rip Oakland you have been visually picked apart infront of everyone and nobody came to help
Moving to Vegas isn't the only way to save them. Shoot Fischer to the moon, hand the reins to an owner that actually respects the organization and who will do right by the team and its fans in Oakland. That sounds like a much better solution.
Imagine getting called up the majors. Best day of your life, you finally fulfilled you childhood dream. Only to find out that not only are you playing infront if less fans, but not only are the facilities that should be high quality on the same level as a rusty tug boat, but people are clowning on the team you play for for being terrible and in essence undermining the work you put in to make the majors all because your owner didn’t want to shell out a few extra thousand out of his billions.
I’m always amazed at what passed for a good picture before we got HDTV.. we were basically looking at like 4 pixels without realizing how bad we had it..
So sad when you consider the great age teams of the 70s, the World Series winner in 89, and other good teams they had. Especially as a Braves fan I could relate goes in the seventies we were pulling less than 10,000 people a game, had a cheap ownership, I'm playing in a dual-purpose stadium. There was even talk about the Braves moving out of Atlanta back then. Then Ted Turner bought the team and things changed. For team that had won so many World Series this is a tragedy. The fans in Oakland deserve better than this.
I expected the record to be better than last season, but I was way wrong. The team ERA is close to infinity, the team makes multiple mistakes in lots of games, and there's only a couple guys who hit well for any given period. A bunch of injuries means a young guy needs to be replaced by another young guy.
The move to Vegas is a recipe for disaster. I suggest Oklahoma City. The Dallas/Ft. Worth area can certainly seem to handle a second franchise, and it would be a good distance from the Rangers in Arlington.
I get that we live in a capitalistic society but how has fisher gone this long making a complete mockery of a professional sports organization & not been canned as an owner? I’d like to think that damages the image of the league while profiting every year off the backs of the other owners in the league (revenue sharing)
I went to an a’s vs giants game this year, on the way home on the Bart train. There was a guy talking to a kid and he said you know there was a time when it was cool to be an a’s fan. The kid was a giants fan and the guy was a a’s fan. The kid just laughed at the guy
Can you please do a video on the downfall of the Kansas City Royals? It’s crazy how they fell from World Series champions in 2015 to absolute trash. THANKS!
I have been to three stadiums when I have visited the US (I am an Aussie who loves cricket and enjoys baseball). Cubs, Giants and the A’s. Sorry to say the A’s stadium is massively tired. I enjoyed the game, which they lost. The Oakland stadium does not cut it. It needs massive upgrades and I understand NV is compelling. Sorry A’s fans that do turn up. Good luck A’s fans. Go the Cubs.
John Fisher reminds me of my favorite teams owner, Jerry Reinsdorf. Cheap, doesn't want to spend money on superstar caliber players, and we the fans want him to sell the team. Like the A's too, sox are the only other team besides the kc royals to not give out a $100 million contracts and trying to win with homegrown mediocre talent. A formula that continues to keep backfiring on the white sox.
I have an image of Alan Trammel being interviewed with the biggest "I know we suck" frown engrained in my memory. If it was actually Alan Trammel's fault, I'd say he deserved to never be in the hall. But a manager can only do so much. Took Miggy and Verlander to make the team halfway decent.
But Money Ball only focused on the offensive players. I don't understand why the A's could win with good position players when they had 3 Cy young winners, but they were not able to win games when they have good offensive players with no Cy young pitchers.
Fisher made the A’s into the P’s, from Pathetics. The legacy of Oakland exchanged for an absolute disgraceful tear down. Their season score for 2023 will be the lowest ever.
As of June 1 2023 the A’s are 13 and 46. This mean that there is a good chance they would lose 50 games by the end of the first week of June with still three weeks of game in June and three full months of playing. I am not sure what is the most lost for a MLB teams, I know that some teams had horrible records back in the 19th century but the A’s could become one of the worst modern team ever, if not the worst. It’s hard to watch
This is what makes baseball frustrating to attempt to be a fan of. No salary consistency throughout the league. There needs to be an actual salary floor and cap like in the NBA. Owners who want to be cheep need to sell their teams to people who actually care.
Being a Jays fan I was thinking man the A's just trade or get ride of all their good players, harsh cheap owner crazy how good they could be, if owner was committed to winning.
Also funny how the A’s made the list of top 5 historicaly worst run differentials and Win% TWICE 3rd as 2023 Oakland A’s and 5th as 1916 Philadelphia A’s
Jeers Reinsdorf is also stingy when it comes to his money, which is why the Chicago White Sox are also rans. Reinsdorf, too, isn't committed to winning, which is why Pedro Grifol is in the dugout as manager a guy with no managerial experience, instead of hiring someone like Bruce Bochy, who ultimately came out of retirement to manage the first place Texas Rangers, Rick Hahn is the GM, and Kenny Williams is VP. Need I say more?

Source?
Great video!
an*
This. Oakland wants them to have a new stadium but isn't willing to let Fisher billionaire ass not pay taxes. Also he wants to collect the tax revenue from around the stadium too.
Fisher is just trash, in the end, just trash
I hope they move to Vegas, maybe I'll watch them when visiting. Definitely will never visit Oakland. I mean who plans vacations to Oakland. I think these words have never been spoken "I'm going to Oakland for my vaca"
@@jamesmead8460no one wants to take a vacation to vegas unless you plan on gambling away your kids college fund

There’s no overtime in baseball
Overtime 😂😂😂
The 2023 Oakland A’s are doing the plot from the movie Major League in real life.
Congrats! That's the 10,000th time that joke was posted on RUclips today!🎉
I just finished that movie for first time a couple weeks ago. Didn't they play better in the beginning
"How the MLB let a ownership groud run a storied franchise out of Oakland" should be the title.
I blame the city of Oakland more than anybody. They were legit and the team tried for years to get a new stadium, same with the raiders and the warriors. Nothing worse than wanting to invest and not being allowed to. I’d wait for the move to Vegas before I started dropping big money as well.

So sad, the most unknown 3peat in World Series history.
Yikes! I have "visit every MLB stadium" on my bucket list and was going to try to go to the Colliseum before the A's move out... after seeing the state it's in, I think I'll pass. Thanks for the video!
I think it’s too early in the season to say for sure they are the WORST team in history. But damn, they are making a strong effort for it!
The way it's looking now, that move to Las Vegas might fall apart thanks to the incompetency of Fisher once again
Baseball is a game of records and statistics. In saying that the A's are the worst in MLB and using statistics , aren't the 1962 New York Mets at a record of 40 -120 , the worst ? Even at this stage of the season the A's cannot be as bad as the Mets !
1 key correction: Oakland hasn’t voted down any stadium proposal. Let alone several.
As a passionate A's fan, this makes me so sad. Terrible management and the city of Oakland is what really screwed the team over.
The way dude threw that punch when running up just to miss and fall on the ground in front of the entire enemy team was hilarious 😂😂😂😂
Crazy how fast everything can go downhill. Bad ownership can ruin a team quick.
The playoffs have been cursed for the A’s for quite a long time now.
That 2020 team was good enough to lose in divisional round like other recent teams.
@@mustbtrouble unless they play vs Minnesota, which we all know what’ll happen

They had Roger Maris before he was a Yankee
Having been to many A's games as a child in the late 80's, early 90's, seeing the Coliseum in such disrepair and filth.....the Coliseum was not perfect, but it used to be a beautiful and clean venue.
I would rather see the A's move and the Coliseum torn down, then to keep hearing about it in its rotting state.
The A's deserve far better than Oakland.
All this talk about the 2023 A’s being the worst team the Royals are only 1-2 games behind them.

John Fisher was not the owner during the Moneyball years.
Moneyball was too expensive for the man who makes Fred Coupon look like Dodgers ownership.
I'd like to see a breakdown on how Arte Moreno is wasting the careers of 2 generational talents. I don't want Ohtani to leave but man should he.
Not sure Moreno can be blamed. Management can. They won a lot from 200-2009 with only one generational talent.
No one talking about the KC royals
Two things: I like the pieces in their young rotation, a veteran presence would do wonders for their development. Also, they actually have a decent outfield with Rooker, Ruiz, Laureano, and Brown, so they could have some trade leverage to build around a great young backstop. But their bullpen is a mess and this might be the most nonexistent infield I’ve ever seen. I know they won’t win, but nobody is coming up through the minors to mend their problems. That’s organizational incompetence.

They really dropped the moneyball on this one!
Fisher did not own the A's during the 2002 Moneyball season, he took over after 2005.
I'll always remember 1989. Go A's
This is a great time to be a Vegas sports fan.

They still didn't loose 120 games like the mets in 62
I feel so sorry for genuine A's fans.
They have some damn good prospects. Traded 6 players over the course of a year. And they fleeced us in the Montas trade.
I’m always amazed at what passed for a good picture before we got HDTV.. we were basically looking at like 4 pixels without realizing how bad we had it..
And it was awesome
I feel so sorry for the players!! Imagine being a part of the disgrace that is the Oakland A’s but can’t get out of it because of a contract
On the other hand, there are players who are making major league salaries who otherwise would be in the minors or with no team at all.
Don’t worry they make far more money than you ever will and don’t care
So sad when you consider the great age teams of the 70s, the World Series winner in 89, and other good teams they had. Especially as a Braves fan I could relate goes in the seventies we were pulling less than 10,000 people a game, had a cheap ownership, I'm playing in a dual-purpose stadium. There was even talk about the Braves moving out of Atlanta back then. Then Ted Turner bought the team and things changed. For team that had won so many World Series this is a tragedy. The fans in Oakland deserve better than this.
awesome video man, loved all the number crunching. got a new sub from this vid!
I expected the record to be better than last season, but I was way wrong.
The team ERA is close to infinity, the team makes multiple mistakes in lots of games, and there's only a couple guys who hit well for any given period. A bunch of injuries means a young guy needs to be replaced by another young guy.
only thing that can save the team is for John Fisher to sell the team
The move to Vegas is a recipe for disaster. I suggest Oklahoma City. The Dallas/Ft. Worth area can certainly seem to handle a second franchise, and it would be a good distance from the Rangers in Arlington.
The new new for the A's in Vegas should be :The Las Vegas Aces.
I like these videos because it makes me feel better about the Jays
I get that we live in a capitalistic society but how has fisher gone this long making a complete mockery of a professional sports organization & not been canned as an owner? I’d like to think that damages the image of the league while profiting every year off the backs of the other owners in the league (revenue sharing)

Awesome video. Well done!
It sucks that they are leaving. But honestly, maybe Oakland can get a fan oriented team in it's place.
Can you please do a video on the downfall of the Kansas City Royals? It’s crazy how they fell from World Series champions in 2015 to absolute trash. THANKS!
That's because they dismantled the team, just like they did with the 2019 Washington Nationals
What went wrong with the A’s? Short answer: Capitalism destroys everything.
The Coliseum is a POS. I was never an Oakland fan of any sports there, but their fans are as loyal as the day as long. I feel for them.
I remember they were pretty bad in the late seventies when their owner was dumping good players for $$$. No fans or city deserves this.
It's hard being an A's fan...Fisher and Co. have been choking the life out of the team for years. For what? Feels Bad Man...
They should make another Money Ball movie, called “ No Money Ball: a opossum’s journey”
😂😂😂
If they end up having a worse record/win percentage than the 1962 Mets, that’ll be truly ridiculous
This team looks disturbingly like the 2003 Detroit Tigers where they replace an injured young guy with another young guy to an atrocious record.
They might even threaten the 1899 Cleveland Spiders, but probably won't surpass them.
I have a feeling the A's will be worse than the 2003 Detroit tigers
I have an image of Alan Trammel being interviewed with the biggest "I know we suck" frown engrained in my memory. If it was actually Alan Trammel's fault, I'd say he deserved to never be in the hall. But a manager can only do so much. Took Miggy and Verlander to make the team halfway decent.

Good for the As. Out of that dump

They bring back memories of the 1899 Cleveland Spiders.
This is such a far cry from the power teams of the late 1980’s with McGuire, Canseco, …I hope something is done for this organization.
So many great players either played for the As or started their careers like reggie Jackson, Josh Donaldson and Matt Olson, etc.
Being a Jays fan I was thinking man the A's just trade or get ride of all their good players, harsh cheap owner crazy how good they could be, if owner was committed to winning.
Also funny how the A’s made the list of top 5 historicaly worst run differentials and Win% TWICE

i'm a 93 baby. I've always heard about the A's glory days but never hear people mention that the A's are 9 time champs. they definitely deserve better
