Definitely the Florida Panthers, especially after that Humiliating Loss against Vegas, and after finally getting a second chance 23 years later, only to CHOKE Badly.
@@mariocastrojim6299No not really. Other teams on this list try to win a championship. Leonsis and Pollin half ass their way to the playoffs to try to make a quick buck.
I feel like the Lions also have the distinction of being on the losing end of an unbelievable amount of bad calls from officials. Several of which have outright lost them the game or a chance in the playoffs altogether.
Don't worry The packers made sure to CURSE your OTHER 2 rivals That way you're never alone It is FUN being responsible for the baseball n basketball curses too as the brewers n bucks ALSO took after big brother GREEN BAY and implemented their lording over cursed teams themselves
Facts😂 it’s hard being a Lions fan at times. But, this year feels like it could genuinely be one of our better years. Like, I’m the most confident in this Lions team than any team throughout it’s history. Honestly, Goff and the defense might be the only question marks for this team. However, the defense is young and will get better, and Goff has been solid, but needs to polish his game a little more.
@@hiroshi1046 I went to my first Mariners game at Safeco way back when with my older brother. He made sure to show me the giant metal wall art we have of The Double, the look of pride he had for that single, beautiful moment immediately pushed me into becoming a lifelong fan. I think I kind of understand how he felt that day when I watched Cal end our drought last year. It's such an ugly battlefield that Mariners fans deal with that the brief respites we're given when things actually go good are that much more beautiful
At LEAST you got 4 chances at it & I loved those Vikings teams ! You had your chances VRS the Falcons & Saints , also took at the Saints in a year or 2 ? BUT , that is 1 of the weakest NFC DIV"S you play in , too ? NOW , come TRY my teams road to there ONLY [ 1 ] Super Bowl chance VRS the best 49ers team [ EVER ] & play the Chiefs 2 x EVERY year & let ME know , if your teams has NOT had better chances , then my Chargers have had or at this time ? Your DIV"S should be yours again this year , if you handle the Loins ? But , they have a better reason to be pis@ed then your fan base has OR mine ? But , they [ Loins ] do have at least a couple of NFL titles & neither of our teams have even 1 .
I hate them at the end of the season but when football comes back round I'm back in purple and yellow. The last taste of victory we got was most of the teammates from the miracle on ice were from Minnesota.
Fun fact about the Brewers, every team that had faced them in the playoffs eventually went on to go to the World Series. They are literally the doormat of playoff baseball contention😢
The Brewers have been cursed since October 19, 1982, the night they went into Game 6 of the World Series up 3-2 only to be curb-stomped 13-1 in St. Louis.
As a Leaf fan, it was painful to have all this shown to me again. You could also mention in the late 90's Gretzky was a free agent and wanted to come to Toronto. He would have taken less. The owner at the time Steve Stavro (a friend of Ballard) said since Maple Leaf Gardens was packed every game, they didn't need Gretzky to sell more tickets. With owners after Ballard making stupid calls based mainly on maintaining a bottom line, it is painful being a Leaf fan
As a Brewers fan, pain and choking is in our DNA. 1982- Lose World Series to the Cardinals 1987- Win first 13 games in a row and 20 out of their first 23, only to finish 91-71, 7 spots out of a playoff spot Jobber team in the 90s Made one playoff appearance between 1982 and 2011 (2008 NLDS, Phillies won the World Series) Lost 2011 NLCS to a Cardinals team who rallied back in the last month of the season (That team won the World Series) Missed playoffs in 2014 after leading the division all season until the final month Lost NLCS in 7 to the Dodgers after clinching the top seed in the NL Choking away NL Wild Card to the Nationals in 2019 (That team won the World Series) Doormat for the 2020 Dodgers (Who won the World Series) Lost in 4 games to the Atlanta Braves in the NLDS in 2021 (Like I need to say that phrase again) Missed out on the playoffs by a game in 2022 (Phillies made the World Series) The Brewers are a team either choke in epic fashion or fall short against teams who made the World Series or in most instances, won the World Series.
For nearly 53 seasons, the Brew Crew has constantly have had streaks of quintessential bad luck at the absolute wrong times of the season. It was awesome seeing the Packers win the Super Bowl twice and the Bucks finally winning it all several seasons ago, yet I've always wished for the Crew to reach the pinnacle. Shame I've wasted my tears on this!
Milwaukee are the American version of the Brisbane Bandits who miss the playoffs or dilberately lose in them every time. I am a Canberra Cavalry fan and we are just as terrible bar 2013.
I agree as a longtime Brewers Fan having to see the team lose time and time again with only the one world series appearance that I was not alive to see.
That's what you get for stealing the Pilots away from Seattle! Oklahoma (Thunder) is in the same boat. They stole the Sonics and are gonna be cursed for a long time.
The Angels have had the same season since like 2017: start off hot in April as one of the best teams in the AL, fall off by June, get basically eliminated in early September, then get hot too late, win like 75 games, and then have Trout or Ohtani be an MVP finalist
The Diamondbacks won the WS in 2001, defeating the Yankees. The Bombers were tying to win their 4th straight title. Other than that, you guys are correct.
@@seek790222 Yeah, but that was well over 2 decades ago and since then the Diamondbacks have not come close to making it back to the World Series. One Hit Wonder franchise. case closed.
I'm surprised you didn't mention the Mariners, who are the only MLB team to never even make it to the World Series. They had an abundance of talent in the 90s/early 2000s and fell short every time, mostly to those damn Yankees. Also as a Sharks fan who started following the team (and hockey in general) in 2019, life has been pretty rough 😔
Honestly, without the Twins two rings, you could say we have the worst luck of any damn state. In fact, if you made a video on Minnesota sports misery, it might be cathartic for all of us. You've got my sub!

@@robertd.7060 True, two of the teams are pretty weak. But all it takes is one consistently good team. Green Bay got that with back to back Hall of Fame QBs, and dominated for over 3 decades.
@@robertd.7060 the chiefs have only been consistently great since 2016. We're talking about shitty luck and mismanagement among all 4 major sports leagues for over 30 years. I feel like had it not been for us finally ending the legacy of failure in the 2023 NBA Finals, The Nuggets would've definitely been a perfect fit for this video Up until this year we had the most playoff appearances of any team in the league that didn't make the finals and we had to wait 47 years to even make it to the big dance and before that we've had plenty of heartbreak where to begin? -becoming the first team to lose a playoff series to the Clippers since they've moved to LA -losing out on drafting Lebron James -Blew a lead in Game 6 of the 1986 Conference Semifinals against Houston that could've forced a game 7 -Losing to Minnesota to miss the playoffs in game 82 of the 2017-2018 season ending their drought -blowing a lead to lose Game 7 against the Trailblazers in the 2018-2019 conference semifinals -constant injuries ruining our chances to make a deep run in 2021 and 2022 -the constant loses to the Lakers in the playoffs until this year with 3 of them coming in our 5 WCF appearances -Basically wasted the talents of Alex English, Dikembe Mutombo, Carmelo Anthony, etc Thank god for Nikola Jokic managing to finally bring a championship to this city after all these years
You could absolutely have thrown in the San Diego/Los Angeles Chargers into the NFL debate as a 4th option. How can a team compete in such big appealing markets and have so much good talent go through town and still not have much to show for it??
Especially during the late 70s early 80s where they made 2 afc championship appearances and lost. Then never making the playoffs until 1992 and getting blown out by the 49ers in the Super Bowl in 1994.

What's also not taken into account here is the added pain of watching other teams in your city winning titles. Nothing like being a Jet fan and watching the Giants win four SBs, including two with New England, then the rest of the time basically go into hibernation. Or being a Met fan and losing straight up to the Yankees. Even the Islanders (four) and Devils (three) have won multiple Cups to the Rangers' one, and as much as I hate to admit it, the Islanders' nineteen straight playoff series wins will likely never be broken. At least there is "misery loves company" in other places that perennially lose with everyone on the same page.
@@bernardoconnor1502 I'll be honest I'm happier with the 108 win 86 Mets winning a series they shouldn't have then the Mets having a few more cinderella seasons. Dominant Championships count a little more in my book. Case in point the Bears and their various musicals about 1985.
Great video. You're also right. The Suns are very much the most cursed NBA team. However, you missed a big instance of the curse. They have been cursed since there inception. They came into the league with the Bucks. There was a coin flip for the #1 pick in the draft....the Suns lost the flip, and the chance to draft Lew Alcindor errrrr Kareem. If the Suns draft him, he never leaves Phx like he did Milwawkee WI lol (who wants to live there) he even owned a house here while he played in LA. If that happenes. Another thing to note, the vikings have the highest win percentage (.548) of any non-Superbowl winning team, the next closest non-Superbowl team being the Chargers at .501, also, they have the most playoff loses of any team at 31, and just a .404 win percentage in the playoffs, also some other cursed moment not mentioned being the 0-5 to 8-8 season in 2016 and going from 6-0 to 9-7 and missing the playoffs due to losing to a bad cards team in 03, plus the goal line drop in the '87 NFC championship game vs Washington, and many more events and just the fact that this team is easily the most historically talented team to not win a Superbowl makes being a fan tough, although im somehow still a fan, hopefully it'll be worth it one day though
As a Detroiter, it has to be the lions. 1 playoff win since JFK Died, and we never get a call. Like every team seems to have a call go their way every once in a while, and the Lions never seem to get any call, especially in the biggest of moments, moments that can change one’s Trajectory
Man the crazy thing about Justin tuckers record breaking field goal to beat the Lions is thats not even the first time the lions have lost to a record breaking field goal they really are cursed
How bout the Chicago/St. Louis/Phoenix/Arizona Cardinals? They haven't won since 1947 and played their entire 25+ year history in St. Louis without ever winning a playoff game or even having a home playoff game.
I barely remember the Purple People Eaters. However, I've watched every failure in the NFC championship. The shortcomings from 1998 & 2009 really stand out.
I’m just wondering how many of those seasons you remember the Vikings were lower than the Lions. Last time Detroit was in the finals was 15 years before there was a Superbowl.
Yeah Lions are more cursed, best RB ever, Best WR ever & both retire early because they can only take so much losing, still don't know what a catch is ever since they took the TD away from Megatron, oh yeah also best kicker ever, bet you wish you had Hanson on the Vikings a couple times don't you? Oh & Stafford leads his team to win a Superbowl the 1st year he's out from the Lions curse. That proves he could have done it in Detroit.
Mariners haven’t even been to a world series with Ken Griffey Jr, Edgar Martinez, Randy Johnson, Ichiro, or King Felix. I think they definitely deserve this list more than Cleveland
Had the Nationals not won the title in 2019, you could have listed the Montreal Expos and their fair share of great players they hade with Tim Raines, Gary Carter, Andre Dawson, Pedro Martinez, Larry Walker and Vladimir Guerrero Sr.
@shauncameron8390 Well, Montreal had it even worse off. They completely lost their team, just to learn that the team that forsoke their city pulled off a miraculous World Series run.
It's a toss up. Cleveland fans have been suffering for longer. Although, they do have 2 MLB championships to their credit, whereas Seattle's never even been to a World Series.
It’s more painful to be so close and have nothing to show for it. Low expectations take less years off one’s life than false hope. What the Mariners are experiencing is close to how Cleveland felt in 1994. Albert Belle, Kenny Lofton, Omar Vizquel, Manny Ramirez, Jim Thome, the Alomar brothers, and no ring to show for it in the 1990s. After that, two blown 3-1 leads in the series thought to decide the championship. That’s more painful and just the last three decades.
I'm a Utah Jazz fan, and while probably not as cursed as other teams, cheering for them can be extremely frustrating. They are almost never horrible (they accidently still won 37 games last year when they were blatantly trying to tank), which is actually a bad thing because this means they rarely if ever get any top draft picks. On top of that, the Jazz basically can never land any top level talent in free agency because nobody wants to play in Utah. Even when they do luck out with a quality draft pick, they either become disgruntled and have to be traded away (i.e. Deron Williams, Donovan Mitchell, and Rudy Gobert) or leave in free agency after their contract expires (Gordan Hayward). This is the perfect formula for the Jazz usually being good enough to be a first or second round playoff team at best (their last Conference Finals was back in 2007 when they were embarrassed by the Spurs), and a mediocre but not horrible team at worse.
You didn't even mention the biggest what if with the blazers, what if sabonis wasn't held in the soviet union. 90's could have been blazers era had sabonis came over when the blazers drafted him. Yes, even the soviets wanted to screw over the blazers. Truly cursed. Also the suns aren't remotely close to being the most cursed franchise. Not with the clippers and blazers around. Hell I'd put half the league above them. They're in a good spot.
man I am a fan of cleveland sports teams and my whole family is also and this is what our life is like just watching them either lose or lose games they were supposed to win :(
As a part-time Browns fan (I lived in northeast PA for a while and had to choose between the Bills and Browns), there is a story, which I can't confirm and don't remember a source for, but everyone seemed to know it. In the last will and testament, and obituary, of a life-long Browns fan, the man asked that Browns players be his pall-bearers, saying that he wanted his favorite team to let him down one last time. It is one thing to be cursed, it is another when the fans accept and oddly enjoy it.
The Browns: Jim Brown was in a movie, and he could make training camp. They gave Jim Brown a choice either come to camp or quit. Jim Brown quit, and the Browns never made it to the Super Bowl.
As far as the Charlotte Hornets are concerned, as a native here, I think the lack of NBA success here is partly offset by the incredible success of all the NCAA basketball teams from Chapel Hill, Duke, and NC State (well, mostly the first two). And maybe it's karma's way of balancing out things as far as basketball is concerned.
I know a Cubs fan from playing community ball, and I clearly remembered in '16 I asked him how he feel right after Cubs finally wins it all. He said he celebrated so loud that his neighbors called police😂, and as a Rangers fan, I felt my pain and even some jealousy brewed.
I’m a Cleveland fan. If LeBron hadn’t delivered a championship four months earlier, I would’ve ended up in jail after they lost that series after leading 3-1.
I've been diehard Red Sox fan since the late 70s so I spent a solid 25 years watching defeat being snatched from the jaws of victory before the curse was finally broken. Top that off with the fact that I grew up in CT with my other sport and team being hockey and the "forever .500" Whalers and I will never not expect the worst to happen despite my Sox having brought home 4 titles in the past 19 years.
I would have been 5 during the famous RedSox come back in 04 to this day its the only time a team has ever overturned a 3-0 game deficit in the playoffs the end of game 7 I can't even imagine the pandemonium so many things about it after 84 years finally beating the Yankees when it mattered and the realisation setting in that this is finally their year 19 years later and the Red Sox still haven't lost another series to the Yankees in the playoffs
@NTD5-ru1kx nah 11 pro sport championships in 32 years ain't cursed Sox-1,cubs-1,hawks-3,bulls-6 That's an average of one championship just under every 3 years.
As a Bengals fan, it felt like I was in a different dimension when we made it to the Superbowl. When we were running out of the tunnel at the Superbowl I was fighting back tears. I had a bunch of family at my house for the game and I literally had to stay strong. I never thought I would see my Cincinnati Bengals in the big game. This team feels cursed... I am hoping we can win just 1 before I die. Just 1 man.
yeah it's really funny the bengals lost the Super Bowl and then didn't make it back the next year because Burrow 100% took the afc championship in kc for granted and the media was calling him the next Joe montana
As a Buffalo Bills fan, I've never been less angry about losing a playoff game. The Bengals are a classy franchise who did the right thing when Hamlin went down and it ended up costing them a chance at home field advantage. They deserve to win that game.
I am pretty sure they will win a Super bowl from 2023-2028.Alot of people are predicting the Bengals to win the AFC this year.A super bowl 58 showdown between the Eagles vs Bengals and Cincinnati winning it all.I wouldn't doubt it the Bengals got some very good players. They will win super bowl they are too good not too.
As a former long-time fan of the Browns, I thoroughly enjoyed your video. I can find solace with the fact that I’m not alone. Good clips of all the teams in their most cringe-worthy moments. I liked the clip of the 1965 NFL Championship game; Green Bay WR Carroll Dale (84) scoring a TD as 3 Cleveland defenders slip and fall in the muddy field.
Being a Sharks fan really hurts, but being a die hard Sharks fan since day 1 makes me damn near wanna ctb after the Knights cake walk this year after cherry picking the league their first year.
Cherry picked? Every news source predicted that we were gonna be horrible. Sure we grabbed a star or two like Fleury, but a lot of our guys were the left overs that teams didn't want anymore. The Panthers literally gave us Reilly Smith and Jonathan Marchessault because they wanted to protect another dude.
As a Kings fans, it was fun when we beat you to go on to our first Stanley Cup. But after a few years, I started to pity you. How could a team be so good in the regular season and lose so throughly in the playoffs? They should have had at least one Stanley Cup in the 2010s.
@@mrwednesdaynight man the year we lost first round with the presidents trophy to Anaheim, and went on to win their first was the apex of my misery. You may not have gotten the top superstars of each team, but still got damn near the pick of the litter, league round. A team of nothing but stars is so much better than a team of a few superstars and a spot fillers. I’m a die hard Philadelphia Flyers fan. And being a fan is so damn difficult. Year after year the team never gets better, and never finds a way to be a contender. 2019-20 season happened and I was so convinced that they could go all the way that year. Then the pandemic hit the hockey gods truly don’t want us to win. Should’ve had the first overall pick in 2007 Blackhawks take Kane and we get JVR. Flyers vs Blackhawks Stanley cup final, Patrick Kane scores the cup clinching goal. Blackhawks go on to win three more cups. While the Flyers are trying to find their first since 1975. Yeah we’re definitely cursed.
@@vinceniederman Not a Flyers fan but am an old fart so got to watch their two Stanley Cup wins. One tough thing about the Flyers was that for about 30 years after winning their cups they always had a good team. Maybe one or two years were down, but they were almost always a contender and could have won a lot of times, but never did. So what's worse--having a team that's always good but always comes up short, or having a team that's bad for 40 years, but in it's one good year wins the championship (like my White Sox)?
Never saw the cup years but we always had a great team up until about Snider died. It was so frustrating seeing team after team that was so very good year after year fail in the playoffs. At least now we know they will just be bad lol
Yeah I knew my Rangers would be on here. 2010-11 was such a heartbreak especially 2011. I don’t know how we didn’t win one with Young, Beltre, Hamilton, Napoli, Kinsler and Andrus
You ask the question of why we root for the cursed. Because when it's broken, the feeling is amazing. Sadly, at least for me, it reduced my attention to the team afterwards, which is a sad side effect.
When the Rangers won in 94 after watching three icing calls in the last five seconds in game seven and the game was over, my wife asked why aren’t you cheering? I answered I can’t believe they did it, stunned into silence. I’m still waiting for another…….
As a Red Sox and Patriots fan who grew up in the ‘80s and ’90s, I can tell you that when the teams you expect to lose every year start winning, the gratification you initially feel will quickly start to wane, especially once the “pink hats” start to take over. Nothing can ever take away the joy we felt from 2001-2007 rooting for those teams, but today I couldn’t care less what happens.
Growing up a kid as a New England sports fan really made me appreciate the journey of every team every year. Seeing 6 parades in the 00s and then 6 more in the 10s was something no other fans will ever understand. The sports gods loved Boston for 20 years.
Been a Cubs fan since I moved to Chicago in 1963, which means I was a fan for half of the "curse" before their win in the 2016 World Series. As the T-shirt says, "we ain't afraid of no goats!" Now that "curse" is on the Guardians as they have kept their streak going for 75 years and counting. Side note: the Cubs' celebration in Chicago for the World Series win assembled the fifth largest crowd in history - 5,000,000 people. Cheers....
At least everyone loved the Cubs, even as losers. Being a White Sox fan, nobody ever talked about them going 80+ years without a championship. It was all Red Sox & Cubs. Then when the White Sox won and they had a parade, nobody showed up except a few muggers and pick pockets, and they had no one to rob. Talk about no respect.
It's so lovely being a Rockies fan. A young enough franchise to never be considered cursed and never good enough to be talked about. It's like being invisible. The Rockies could literally all disappear and no one would notice
As a lifelong Cubs fan I often wondered why I had to have the stars align the way they did where I ended up cheering for the Cubs? ...then 2016 happened and everything was suddenly ok💙❤️
Don’t forget the extra credential for the Vikings that is the fact that though they’ve been to four Super Bowls, they failed to gain a lead at any point in any of those four games.
so sorry to hear that man, I'm a Cubs fan though, so I can't say that wasn't happy when they won. seriously, whoever won, the other team would still have a curse on their hands. props to you for staying a fan.
drafting Greg Oden was NOT a bad decision. you cannot insure yourself against career-changing injuries, and referring to Oden as a "draft bust" is just a bad take.
Bill Simmons in his ESPN days had a whole write-up about Oden and how he was obviously going to be injury prone his whole career.... It was obvious he shouldn't have been #1.
Being an Indians/Guardians fan is frustrating to say the least. At least you gave my Bills an honorable-ish mention. The heartbreaks have been even more painful since they became relevant again.

As to why we cheer for these teams, it's what I call "Sports Pennance"... so when the other teams we like that are really good win, we can deflect by saying we are diehard bad teams fans too...
The crazy thing about the Leafs is not only haven't they won a cup, they haven't even been to the Cup Finals, which is almost impossible in 55 years of NHL hockey. My favorite MLB team is the White Sox, but even though they went over 80 years without winning, I never felt they were cursed because to be cursed you have to come close a few times and then blow it, like the Red Sox. The White Sox were never even close until they won it. The Red Sox & Cubs were in multiple World Series in their curse years, but the White Sox were only in one (1959) and they didn't come close to winning that. Then when they got into one, they swept it, so there wasn't any real tension in that.
I would almost say the Winnipeg Jets are also quite cursed. The roster in the 80s and early 90s was loaded, with Hawerchuck, Selänne, Domi, and Tkachuck, and never made it to the finals. They got shipped off to Arizona who can’t even sell out a college arena anymore while the modern Jets with players like Scheifele, Hellebyuck, Morrissey, Laine in his prime, Byfuglien, and even Evander Kane have all wasted their careers in Winnipeg.
NY Jets, even those they won in 69,have in been in the playoffs, got to champion ship game about 4 times since then. But haven't come close for a while now.
I’d say Arizona Coyotes are the most cursed in the NHL. The furthest they ever got was one appearance in the Western Conference finals, and since they can’t even get a permanent stadium to play in. Basically playing in a gymnasium now.
The Dolphins supposedly had a curse put on them by former RB Mercury Morris who hated Shula, and he said the Dolphins would never win another SB as long as Shula was alive....well, he's gone so I wait now lol
@@nytewrtr I hated Shula too as a Jet fan, but that 2007 season just epitomized what rooting for a sad sack team is all about. If they lose Miami stays as the lone unbeaten but the Giants win another Bowl. I wish there was a third choice but there never is...

Maybe you could do a video on the biggest curse breaking wins of all time for each sport. Could be some obvious ones but some cool ones like the Kings who just made the playoffs after the longest streak in professional sports.
As a fan of the Minnesota Twins, the Las Vegas Raiders, and the Atlanta Hawks (I swear I have good reasons for all three), I don’t know if there’s a more cursed trio than that.

There is an ice hockey club in Switzerland called HC Fribourg-Gottéron. The club was founded in 1938 and has been in the finals 4 times and lost all of them. In addition, they have a 2nd place finish from a season before the playoffs were introduced. They dominated the regular season at will, with probably the best players ever to play in Switzerland over several seasons (Bykov, Khomutov, in the 90s) and always got their asses kicked in the finals.

NBA-Sacramento Kings Title Drought since 1951 and no appearances since. NFL-Arizona Cardinals being the oldest NFL franchise since 1899, only 2 Titles, their first being controversial and holding the current longest Title drought of all the Big 4 Teams, they did have SB appearance in 2008 but that is it. MLB-Seattle Mariners, the only MLB team to never appear in a WS...Cleveland a close second but they came very close to a World Series title in 1997 and 2016, however the longest World Series drought and second Title drought to the NFL Cardinals in the Big 4. @robertd.7060 I'm not sure if this reply is meant for me as it seems like an argument for the Chargers as the most cursed team with should be a general comment. If it's to say the Chargers are older than the Rangers with no titles, the AFL title you mentioned counts in this instance.
@@petercena9497 The pre-merger league championships are still acknowledged, even during the first four SBs. Super Bowl titles officially replaced them starting with SBV.
I live in an area that’s roughly equidistant from Cincinnati, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and DC. With basketball, football, hockey, and baseball, the majority of people in my area are fans of teams from those cities. I’m considered weird by many because my favorite basketball and baseball teams are New York teams. It’s so prevalent it’s almost considered a regional custom for a child to pick one of those teams and be a miserable sports fan the rest of their life. I just genuinely don’t understand it. Tons of people in my area are Browns fans and they walk around like “I love my Browns! We went 0-16 this year, but I love my Browns!”, almost like defeat and mediocrity are something to be celebrated.
Well, I'm actually from New York but don't root for any of the local teams. But the local New York teams haven't exactly been piling up championships in recent decades. Not even the Yankees. Yankees have one in 20 years, their worst run since pre-1920. The Rangers have one championship in 80+ years, the Knicks two in their entire history, and none in 50 years, the Mets are a perpetual hopeless case, the Jets have won only one championship of any kind in 60+ years, the Nets have never won in the NBA. The Islanders had their dynasty, but that's ancient history by now. If you want to include the Devils, they had a few, but even those are getting old. Only the Giants have had relatively recent success. For all the teams in the NY area, it's amazing how infrequently any win championships.
The New York Jets are cursed in such a disappointing, embarrassing, and unpopular way that they didn't even make this video. They are cursed in a way where they are good enough not to be recognized as legendary cursed franchise but bad enough to cause their fans horrendous pain.
The Sabres and Bills droughts leaves Buffalo as the most cursed city. We also missed out on a MLB team as it went to Colorado and our NBA team was sold out and became the Clippers. Ps. Pegula fired Coach Lindy Ruff when he bought the Sabres.
OK? I think we can all agree the Vikings are more cursed than the Bills. The Timberwolves and Wild are generally crappier than the Sabres. The North Stars were about as good as the Sabres, but they left and won cups in Dallas. And then we've had to watch the Lakers win buckets of rings after leaving Minneapolis. It's not even close bro.
One more NBA team I would put in there is the Sacramento Kings. Yes, the won a Championship in 1951 back in Rochester, but since then it's been decades of disappointment. They're looking better nowadays, but how long will it last.
I feel like the bills should be on here, not the Vikings. The bills lost 4 superbowls in a row. And almost every year they lose in the divisional or the conference championship.
It's funny to me how the Chicago Cubs were undoubtedly the most cursed team in baseball for so many years, with famous stories like the curse of the goat from the tavern owner, or the Bartman incident. When they went to the World Series against the Indians it was almost like they traded places with Cleveland in that moment, winning their first championship in over a century and coming back from a 3-1 deficit and thus swapping the Tribe out with themselves.
Where were my Washington Commanders? They've reached the playoffs only six times in the last 30 years , and won only two Round 1 playoff games in that time. Innumerable quarterbacks, a revolving door of head coaches, an epically bad front office and an owner whose incompetence and vileness are the stuff of legend. They break my heart every season. The worst part is that I'm an old guy who remembers when they were good.
Been a Vikes fan since the late 1970s. The first game I remember was a road playoff beatdown in Dallas on New Year's Day, 1978. There's been a lot more bad than good since then, no doubt they are the most cursed NFL team.
Well, I guess the Rangers saw this video and decided to do something about that.
What's the most cursed team in sports?

The jazz have tried tanking before and the players were a bust 😞

Video could just be every Minnesota team 😭
I just wish jumbo joe could’ve hoisted one with Nabby.
And to the guy defending the Knights, tell me, how was your drafting equal to that of ANY other expansion team? You may not have gotten the top superstars of each team, but still got damn near the pick of the litter, league round. A team of nothing but stars is so much better than a team of a few superstars and a spot fillers. Kraken sure as shit didn’t get the same treatment, and I despise Seattle for multiple reasons, and even I can admit they got totally shafted in comparison to your induction. Cake walk.
I bet you’re one who vehemently argues you got robbed the year you blew the 3 goal lead after you busted lil joes dome on the ice.
I’m a Flyers Fan As Well and Been a Fan Since 1995 I’m So Tired of Hearing 1975 I Wasn’t Around Then!
Get Freeze-d.
Sincerely,

I'm not a Rangers fan, but that Game 6 failure from 2011 still haunts me. It's up there with the 2015 failure against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Also Cruz.
@@shauncameron8390 we don’t talk about Cruz. He was amazing but very much cost us the championship against the Cardinals
One of the most annoying things I've heard, is when you tell someone your favorite team, and they respond with " I'm sorry".
You ask the question of why we root for the cursed. Because when it's broken, the feeling is amazing.
Sadly, at least for me, it reduced my attention to the team afterwards, which is a sad side effect.
No matter how bad my team does, I'll still cheer for them. Through the good times and the bad times
@@geordiejones5618yea New England was definitely spoiled in the 00s and 10s 20s probably won't be much tbh
Cheers....
Guardians never said they were cursed. Just not good enough to win.
@@albertelnen9144hopefully the owner sells and someone comes in who can spend. Wasting the talents of the front office and Francona.
I didn't love them. I'm glad they won so they stopped winning. Nothing loveable about losing.
@@RRaquello Williams and Hahn are in the unemployment line as of this, so things are already looking up for the South Side fans. Cheers....
And since there 4 super bowl losses they've lost 6 nfc championship games
Being an Indians fan, I truly do believe that if the rain delay never happened and killed the momentum, we were winning that game. :(
so sorry to hear that man, I'm a Cubs fan though, so I can't say that wasn't happy when they won. seriously, whoever won, the other team would still have a curse on their hands. props to you for staying a fan.
drafting Greg Oden was NOT a bad decision. you cannot insure yourself against career-changing injuries, and referring to Oden as a "draft bust" is just a bad take.
A healthy Oden on the Blazers could have been something.
Yep, the Bills even became a doormat to Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs
@@ChiefBlue4298chiefs had 20 bills had 21 they deserved it Allen played his heart out give bills 21 fair is fair. Fuck KC they had their time bills need this Super Bowl more than anyone fans need something to believe in. It’s times for bills and bengals to get their ring.
Didn't even mention the Bills four Superbowl losses
Edit: Nor being under the thumb of Belichick and Brady for 20 years
There is a difference of a curse or the bills just suck
I would almost say the Winnipeg Jets are also quite cursed. The roster in the 80s and early 90s was loaded, with Hawerchuck, Selänne, Domi, and Tkachuck, and never made it to the finals. They got shipped off to Arizona who can’t even sell out a college arena anymore while the modern Jets with players like Scheifele, Hellebyuck, Morrissey, Laine in his prime, Byfuglien, and even Evander Kane have all wasted their careers in Winnipeg.
Phoenix suns fan here and it always feels like we are so close
(I don’t watch a lot of the nfl but the Cardinal should be on this list)
NY Jets, even those they won in 69,have in been in the playoffs, got to champion ship game about 4 times since then. But haven't come close for a while now.
I would say Jerry sold his soul for the cowboys super bowls so we been cursed for 30 damn years
I'm a Browns fan you don't know about being cursed
Cowboys aren't cursed, they just suck.
Texas rangers are no longer cursed!!!!!!!
Well, the Rangers won the World Series, look like a update is needed.
At least they can say they had the only undefeated season
@@nytewrtr I hated Shula too as a Jet fan, but that 2007 season just epitomized what rooting for a sad sack team is all about. It's New England-Giants with New England or course going for their perfect season. If New England wins they create their own list and paper over Miami. If they lose Miami stays as the lone unbeaten but the Giants win another Bowl. I wish there was a third choice but there never is...

I am a Browns fan and loyal to a fault obviously so the pain is real, It's definitely a glutton for punishment type of fanfare.
I think the Browns curse began when Art Modell fired the team's namesake Paul Brown after he bought the team.

NHL-Maple Leafs, longest Cup drought and no appearances in the expansion era.
The Texas Rangers may not have the longest championship drought, but they are the oldest team in the four leagues that have never won a title.
Edit - but not anymore!
Vikings started the same year as the Senators/Rangers.
LA /SD / LA Chargers in 1960 till now , NO , NFL titles ? Only went to 1 Super Bowl VRS the best 49ers team [ EVER ] & we were just a Wild card team , even then ? 1963 AFL champs , lost MORE Champion Ship games then we won , even in that minor league AT that time frame ?
@robertd.7060 I'm not sure if this reply is meant for me as it seems like an argument for the Chargers as the most cursed team with should be a general comment. If it's to say the Chargers are older than the Rangers with no titles, the AFL title you mentioned counts in this instance.
The NFL list the Vikings as having won an NFL title.

The pre-merger league championships are still acknowledged, even during the first four SBs.

I’m a New York Mets fan. My now deceased dad was a New York Knicks fan.
Do you plan to suffer in life as your father did?
The New York Jets are cursed in such a disappointing, embarrassing, and unpopular way that they didn't even make this video. They are cursed in a way where they are good enough not to be recognized as legendary cursed franchise but bad enough to cause their fans horrendous pain.
The Sabres and Bills droughts leaves Buffalo as the most cursed city. We also missed out on a MLB team as it went to Colorado and our NBA team was sold out and became the Clippers. Ps. Pegula fired Coach Lindy Ruff when he bought the Sabres.
Thank you
Buffalo also had a Major League ballclub that got demoted to minor--the whole team, not just players--after the 1885 season.
Yea, I think the bills should have been in the top three but the Vikings have gone through more pain in other ways.
Plus the Music city miracle 17 year playoff drought wide right 13 seconds and on top of that New England winning 6 Super Bowls
@tristinray5449 18 year playoff drought
As UrinatingTree would say, YOU BLEW ITT!!
Being a Browns fan since 1999 sucks. I hate it.
