The Saints have too poor a history, their success in the past decade isn't enough to overcome it. Plus, the playoffs haven't been their friend of late.
After they won the Super Bowl in 2009, the Saints have become snake-bitten all over again. In the 2010s, they have suffered some of the most agonizing playoff defeats in NFL history one after the other. I call it karma for Bounty-gate.
Yeah, they should definitely be top 3. Two teams ranked ahead of them had won a SB before this video was made. Two more have since then. It should be Vikings #1, since they're clearly the team that's been good the most times without ever winning. By far the best winning record of any team that hasn't won a SB, and tied with the Bills for 4 SB losses. Bills should probably be 2, although you could make a case for the Chargers, who have the second best win-loss record of any team to never win a SB, yet somehow don't make this list. Those should be the top 3, the only other one I could see competing with them is the Browns.
A couple of things I'm surprised weren't mentioned in the segment about the Lions: They were the NFL's first-ever wildcard playoff team (1970), and they lost 5-0 - FIVE to NOTHING - to the Cowboys. And, of course, they are the only team to have had a player die on the field during a game, Chuck Hughes.
Patrick Mahomes is the snake repellent. They’re back. 1 Super Bowl victory in 50 years since ‘69 but now 3 appearances with a 2-1 record since Patrick Mahomes was drafted.
This list needs updated now that the Eagles, Saints, and Chiefs have won. In my mind: 10. Titans 9. Chargers 8. Jets 7. Cardinals 6. Falcons 5. Vikings 4. Bengals 3. Bills 2. Lions 1. Browns
Nah, Redskins should be number one. Every quality player we get either gets hurt, underperforms, or leaves. We haven't sniffed a deep playoff run in years.

Hardcore Hazza haha i agree but also.. at least the saints, eagles, won a SB, titans and vikings had Farve but didn’t do much but make it to the final 4 in the playoffs so at least they can say that, at least the titans have been in the playoffs the last couple years going 9-7, but detroit compared to all these teams hasn’t won a playoff game since 1991... so i mean it’s debatable, lions haven’t done anything ever pretty much (not trying to offend you or anything but just making my case)
@Harry Engel The truth is everyone seems to be ouerlooking the Cleveland Browns when you talk about snakebitten franchises and another one that you might be able to add to the list would be since the late 1990s the Dallas cowboys!. Even though they made the playoffs many times they haven't won a playoff game since 1995!.
Boy you know this list is old when the eagles are this high and the chiefs are still on the list. Think falcons probably take the chiefs spot. Even back then though I can't believe how highly ranked the saints are. What bonehead decided that?
Yeah, they even "updated" it once to add the Saints winning it all, but I think with the Chiefs and Eagles is the same way they said it in the update: "Even if they won it all, it doesn't erase all the futility before." I think we can all agree that the Browns are the #1 Snakebit NFL Franchise.
I think the Saints would still deserve to stay if they updated this list, even with a Super Bowl win; look at what's happened to them in the decade since then. 2010, 2011, 2017, 2018, 2019; all really bad playoff losses. And in between, from 2012-16, the Saints defense was record-breakingly bad; you look up any defensive stat and there will more than likely be at least one mid-2010's Saints team toward the very bottom. They've been through some hell.
My dad actually went to the freezer bowl in Cincinnati back in 81. But him and his brother left at around the third quarter because they were too cold.
They're 0-6 in NFC title games since their last Super Bowl appearance in 1977 vs Oakland. The one big move that's really jinxed them is moving from an outdoor stadium with a real home field advantage to playing indoors in dome stadiums. The Vikes are 0-5 in NFC title games since leaving Metropolitan Stadium in 1981.
@@iangallagher4135 I didn't know the year it was made. But it still would be nice to see a knew countdown. I think the Browns and the Lions will be in the first and second place.
Steven Roberts That’s true, but Arizona has only won like two playoff games in about sixty years I believe and the Falcons should be considered just from Super Bowl 51.
When it comes to the Browns snakebite in 80's they always mention the Mike Davis interception in 1980,the Drive, the Fumble, but they never mention an equally devastating loss the year before "The Drive"the 1985 Divisional playoffs against Miami when they dominated and took a 21-3 lead and Miami looked dead but somehow the Fins came back and beat them 24-21
As a Bengals fan since the 80s I feel fortunate to have witnessed three Super Bowls. We have our best team right now. The Jets, Browns, Lions, Chargers... have a much worse history and worse luck than the Bengals. The Patriots and the Buccaneers were some of the worst franchises until they won it all.
After 5 decades of playoff exits and eliminations. Patrick mahomes and Tyreek Hill Made a magical playoff run and made a comeback against the San Francisco 49 ers in Super Bowl 54
Honestly, the CITY of Houston is snake bitten. And what's funny is that one guy mentioned the "Belicheck coaching tree" being awful, and one reason we're not contenders right now is because of a previous OC under Belicheck, Bill O'Brian 🙄 Everyone swore by him, but I knew he was bad news as soon as he cut Andre Johnson. Then he traded Hopkins for a bag of peanuts and a coke, and even though it didn't happen until he was fired, he was the reason Watt and Watson left. He left the Texans organization in shambles. I've sat through all our losing seasons, all of the playoff heartbreaks, like the time we were the only team in the AFC south to not reach a conference championship in a 5 year span, even though we may have had the best team. And let's not forget the embarrassing 30-0 shutout to the Chiefs. I honestly expected us to lose that game, the Chiefs were objectively a better team, but come on... And last but not least, firing Gary Kubiak, and then Kubiak making his way to Denver, and almost immediately winning a Super Bowl.
Very true. Houston kinda did this to themselves though. They welcomed a half ass team with lame, half assed facilities and weird, common uniforms. The city has never truly embraced them. They need an identity. They need new uniforms and a new swagger. And a great quarterback. Houston is a great city and they should have a great team
@@jjgreen5206 I agree. I've thought for a while that we should be rebranded as the Comets. It would align with the other major sports teams in Houston having space related names (Astros, Rockets), and it would give the team an opportunity to design a creative logo and color scheme. I think light blue and black would work great for a team like that, but that's just me.

I'm originally a "SoCal" boy. My mom is from L.A. and my dad is from San Diego. I was a Chargers fan for many years. They had success in the AFL (before the merger) in the 60s - I believe they won at least one if not multiple AFL championships. Something changed indefinitely for the worse after the 60s. My mom had the adage, which she may have invented, that "The Chargers always find a way to lose." That always seemed to be the case when they were my favorite team, and still seems to be the case. In part due to 'cheating' by Madden's Raiders, the Chargers lost AFC championships to them in the last seconds of the game in the late 70s, then the early 80s they lost the "Freezer Bowl" to the "Bungles." After the Chargers were blown out by Steve Young and Frisco in the '94 Super Bowl, I finally gave them up as my favorite team. San Diego is a nice, lax easy-going city.....but there's something dumb and phony about its sports teams -which prevent them from winning it all- this has been the case for decades. Perhaps it's because the city IS lax and easy-going; the people are also nice but they never have come across to me as TRUE 'die-hard' fans like sports fans from other cities especially in the eastern United States. Owners of the Chargers and Padres and too many managers, players, and personnel.....have never quite 'jived' with me as being truly competent and legit.... For these reasons and others, the 'stars aren't aligned' for San Diego pro teams to ever truly be great. I gave up the Padres as my favorite baseball team (in lieu of the Dodgers) after Tony Gwynn retired; the Padres also have always seemed cursed, stupid, lax -- perennial underachievers with bad personnel, management and team owners; the environment isn't right for them to ever win...they have been unbelievably mediocre if not bad for 20 years until the last two years. Even with the Chargers moving back to L.A. two years ago -where they first started- they still are clearly the inferior of the two current L.A. teams...and continue to not quite have what it takes and to lose close games (i.e. Raiders loss a few weeks ago). I've had the belief for many years that if either the Padres or the Chargers ever won a championship, the world would end. Something won't allow them to; it's that impossible for them to... I would've put San Diego in the top 10 in this list -- probably at around #5 at least...
Now I don't feel as bad. As a senior, living all my life on Long Island, I remember as a teenager growing up feeling envious of SoCal as I had an American Graffiti image of it. Surfing all day and cruising around in hotrods all evening. But maybe the lifestyle is too lax. After all, one of your iconic players was called "Bambi," albeit a great receiver. And now they left for L.A. I sympathize with you. But on balance, I'd rather have good weather than a successful N.Y. Yankees who are more about history than recent consistency. Also, as a good Catholic, I always liked the name Padres.
@@MrAquinas1 I'd rather LIVE in San Diego than say, Pittsburgh, Philly or New York. Mainly for the weather. But there's something about the atmosphere and people in Diego that just don't.....'jive'.......or 'work'........in terms of creating the right 'sports environment' from the top to the bottom, owners to coaches, for really consistently good teams, much less championship teams, to ever happen. Knowing this fact, it's hard to root for the local team, were I to be living in Diego -- KNOWING that their teams will always just....be pre-determined to simply 'exist' and give us entertainment......instead of actual championships...... Somehow there's something more 'legit,' REAL in other cities esp. eastern USA that makes it possible and even inevitable that other cities' teams win championships -that I feel are impossible in some places, perhaps only a few, such as Diego...

Scott Norwood lives on after that KC Buffalo game.
2023 was a good year for the Lions. Thanks to Dan Campbell, they went 12-5 in the regular season and made it to the NFC Championship

I mean this was made in 2009, before the Saints won the superbowl
Yeah, they even "updated" it once to add the Saints winning it all, but I think with the Chiefs and Eagles is the same way they said it in the update: "Even if they won it all, it doesn't erase all the futility before."
I think we can all agree that the Browns are the #1 Snakebit NFL Franchise.
relix7373 also the Chargers should be on here
I think the Saints would still deserve to stay if they updated this list, even with a Super Bowl win; look at what's happened to them in the decade since then.

In part due to 'cheating' by Madden's Raiders, the Chargers lost AFC championships to them in the last seconds of the game in the late 70s, then the early 80s they lost the "Freezer Bowl" to the "Bungles."
After the Chargers were blown out by Steve Young and Frisco in the '94 Super Bowl, I finally gave them up as my favorite team.

I think the Az Cardinals should be right there with you. EXCEPT we’ve never won a SB
Anyone here after Aaron Rodgers got hurt and is out for the rest of the season? If that doesn’t show the jets are cursed idk what else does.
Schottenheimer should be the AFC's Jim Mora - PLAYOFFS?! YOU TALKING ABOUT - PLAYOFFS?! PLAYOFFS?!
The Chiefs might become the premier team in the A.F.C
Nah Chiefs are the new Seahawks, wild card 4 lyfe
@@TheFuckingShitLoL After winning Super Bowl 54 cause Patrick Mahomes & Andy Reid will be the new force in the AFC
I’m a Pats fan and I hate to say this, the Chiefs are probably going to be the next New England Patriots.
@@TheFuckingShitLoL They have Mahomes now

Drew Vertical AFC team names starting with the letter B are generally screwed. The B must stand for bad luck, bad luck, or bitten.
Big Sky Blue broncos
Bills are definitely 1. I'm a Bills fan too. Losing 4 Super Bowls in a row is BRUTAL. Plus they have no Super Bowl wins as a franchise.

You left off the Cardinals. We’ve never won a SB, and considering we’re one of the oldest teams in the league, that’s saying something
@@vanessarussell7048 yeah I can understand your point, I have the chargers on the list because they have had good teams but choke in big moments, and no Super Bowl wins
The Jets are so Snake Bitten that they couldn't even get the a high ranking on a list of Snake Bitten teams.
