  • The New York Jets have a long history of quarterbacks that simply didn’t work out. Last week, Tim Boyle was announced as the 16th QB to start a game for this franchise since 2009. In this video, I break down the Jets tenure of all 16 guys and what they’re doing today…

What I find incredible is even the anemic play of Jets quarterbacks, Fitzpatrick threw 31 td passes for them in 2015. No Bears quarterback has ever thrown 30 touchdowns passes or eclipsed 4k passing yards in a single season. The Bears are the gold standard for bad quarterback play.
Solid seasons from Namath, Testevarde, Pennington and Fitzpatrick is more than anything the Bears have put under center

When it turns it will turn quickly if the Bucs are any indication. Prior to 2019, the Bucs were almost in the same situation as the Bears, they have never had a QB throw for 4,091 Yards or had a QB throw for 29 TDs in a Seasons.
Since 2019 here is what Buc QBs have done
      2019 - 5,109 Yards 33 TDs
      2020 - 4,633 Yards 40 TDs
      2021 - 5,316 Yards 43 TDs
      2022 - 4,694 Yards 25 TDs
These are the 4 highest passing totals in a season for the Bucs, the previous record was 4,090. They also rank #1, #2, #3, and #7 for TD totals in a season.

@@WillMuny Winston had 3 seasons of 4k passing yards and Josh Freeman eclipsed that number in 2010. The “QB graveyard” Browns had an all pro passer Bryan Sipe in 1980. Since 1919 we’ve had 12 Quarterbacks hit 3k passing yards and 12 with 20+ td passes. It’s comical.
It could turnaround. My cousin won the $15 million Il power ball. Anything’s possible.

    • @WillMuny
      @WillMuny 7 месяцев назад

@@chicagodude8888 That is True but it is barely a difference from the Bears.
Going into 2019 here was the all time leading passers for the Bucs and Bears in a single season.
      Yards
      Bucs 4,090
      Bears 3,838
      TDs
      Bucs 28
      Bears 29
Granted the Bears have been around since 1919, but the first 4,000 yard season In The NFL, was in 1979. Joe Namath threw for 4,000 in the AFL in 1967. So 4,000 yard seasons only happened after 1976 when the Bucs joined.
The Bucs 4 greatest passing seasons have come in the last 4 years. I see the Bears doing the same, once it gets going.

Yeah, no one in the sixth round that a division rival might pick up, haha. Joking aside, Pennington was actually really good. The future looked bright in 2002. But unlike the other guy in the 2000 draft, Chad had the exact opposite injury luck. To win CPOY twice, you need to be 1) good and 2) injury-prone. As they say, the best ability is availability.

How long were the Giants out of the playoffs before beating the defending NFC Champions in a wild card game and then losing to the eventual Super Bowl champions, who btw became the next great dynasty ? You didn't go back far enough. The Jets have been killing quaterbacks carriers since 1968. What happened to Sanchez? he got Penningtoned by the Jets offensive line. Chad Pennington was rushed back and managed to receive two season ending injuries in the same year, and the second one ended his carrier. All because the Just End The Seasons refuse to draft offensive linemen.

I like to think outside of the fabled Butt Fumble, the 1987 Draft is the perfect example of this franchise.

I personally think Mark "Dirty" Sanchez is overhated. He did suck, yes, and i did not realize that in high school 😂 but I really think you can do worse at QB. He was weirdly clutch at making big plays. Kind of the slacker who crams all their important studying until the last minute lol.
Would we have won it all with a better qb? Probably, and despite his stats (9td/3int) it would be misleading to say he played "well" in the playoffs. But well for his standards and it was fun times for a rookie QB contract. A game manager qb is better than nothing!

@@NYG5 sanchize actually played his best ball year 3. I think he more just got exposed as never having much to do with their success in the first place. The roster fell apart, Ryan and Schottenheimer's schemes didn't work anymore.
He had a nice run with Philly in 2014 and that was it for hin 😂

@@rickc661 as I said in my comment I was blinded by hype at the time. I stand by what I said that sanchize had clutch moments, but it is also remarkable how successful they were while being handicapped by him.

I'm 💯% confident the closest the Jets will get to the playoffs, ever, is by proxy through the team(s) that wax their ass in the regular season and make it to the post season. Rich Eisen nailed it: Instead of tanking wisely, they won two meaningless games in weeks 15 & 16 of 2020 handing the Jags Trevor Lawrence. Totally f'n stupid. "And with the 8th pick (as of now) of the 2024 NFL Draft, the New York Jets select BYU's Mascot, Cosmo the Cougar." The J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS will N-E-V-E-R ever see another playoff game. PERIOD.
