The Carter Family....awesome.
Nice!
A former boss of mine, flew his G4 one day into Catalina. Now that’s exhilarating.
Back in 1981 we flew the Bird Innovator, a highly modified PBY Catalina, into Catalina! From LBH.
Three times on three different days😢.
Loved it!
(Yeah. I'm OLD.) 😊
What a great and memorable experience. That special place is one-of-a-kind!

It was amazing!
Forrest Bird was a multi talented genius!
Looks like a really fun day out for a picnic lunch. :-) Thanks for sharing.
When I lived in L.A. for 10 years, I went to beautiful Catalina Island over 11 times. It was truly heaven on earth.
Nice work! Of note: you're the only video I can find of someone doing what is highly recommended for landing at KAVX, that being: a normal pattern! I guess doing the pattern so you have a 5 mile is more photogenic, but I'll be doing it the way that you did it!
Appreciate the note. This is how an instructor showed me and reinforced was the best and safest way to entering. Won’t deviate from it! There is already enough to think about when on final
I just made this exact trip last week. Awesome time!
Loved your videos...are you based at KVNY? Did my flight training at that airport.
Hi, yes - KVNY!
$35 landing fee. Restaurant is closed. No shuttle to town. $35 fee just to land!
I’d like to suggest a different perspective. $35 goes to the Conservancy that owns the airport and keeps it open (paying for maintenance and salary of the Airport Manager), surrounding undeveloped island land where we enjoy picturesque trails and a picnic lunch - all open and available after a quick flight getaway that few can get to. Landing fees goes back years and years at Catalina - and I see it as a small price for the privilege.
Right after they took millions of tax dollars, when the feds redid the runway and taxi.....
