    I do have the full flight, beginning to end with audio from Brackett KPOC to Catalina KAVX, would anyone want me to post that? It is long about 33 minutes.

    Sure will watch all 33 min of the flight and enjoy every second.
    Thanks for another nice video.

    Nice flight. I've only flown this approach in a sim (X-Plane) but as a real world non-IFR rated pilot I appreciate how easy it is to lose situational awareness. Good job.

    Nice landing Catalina has a rough runway. I am finally taking IFR training at KMYF in San Diego and I enjoy watching your IFR videos. Cheers!

      I love San Diego IFR flying, they get a lot nice clouds that give you so many approach IMC opportunities. A lot of actual IFR, but not dangerous clouds. Thanks for the comment

    Thank you for posting, I was always wondering if I should fly IFR to KAVX, this video gave me a good inside on what to expect in IMC,

    Nice video. I've done this approach in a simulator but it was great seeing this in a real flight.

    +Erik Solberg I fly a lot of different planes, some have moving map GPS's, some have Garmin GPS's, some have none except my iPad and foreflight.
    But I only have the $75 version of foreflight, not the $140 which also has geo-referenced plates.

    Hi GVad, Some nice videos. Tell me-have you got the camera attached to your head and how are you doing this?

  • @coma13794
    @coma13794 9 лет назад +1

    Great video. One suggestion I'd like to make is that if you are being vectored to the final approach course, the intercept angle is going to be no more than 30 degrees. ATC tends to use either 20 or 30 degrees, but it won't be more than 30.
    Based on that, you can predict what the final heading is going to be well before the approach clearance is issue. Since you were coming from the east, you would expect a 190-200 hdg to join (20-30 intercept, respectively). In this case, as you can see, ATC ultimately issued the 190 heading once prompted.
    Knowing the number in advance means that if you receive a bogus heading (or your mis-hear what the controller says), you can see clarification immediately. In your case, you actually caught it relatively quickly, but even so, it's good to arrive fore-armed with that information so that you can process the heading instantly and know if it's a "good" heading.

    • @FSX404
      @FSX404  9 лет назад

      Its true 20-30 deg, but it throws you in for a loop thinking "am I where I think I am?"
      With no reference outside, it can disorient you in a second. Fly the plane and ask questions.

    • @coma13794
      @coma13794 9 лет назад +2

      Genc Vadiku The CDI being left or right of the final approach course that never swung through the center tells you you're east. No biggie, it's just a tip for staying ahead. As you know with IFR, the more you stay ahead of the airplane and the situation, the easier everything is.

    How much flying time do you get with CAP?

  • @jeanredner
    @jeanredner 10 лет назад

    Yeah but I got a while to start it tho waiting on my checkride for private, but I have heard it hard, is that true? I mean I could only imagine flying under the hood will be tough.

    • @FSX404
      @FSX404  10 лет назад +2

      jeanredner flying is only the half of it, the workload is tremendous for a single pilot. Imagine the busiest you've been so far in a plane, and then quadruple that.
      But there is also other half of IFR, which is knowing IFR procedures. These are very complicated and can be overwhelming when starting out.

    How is the video captured with both PIC and ATC radios?

    • @FSX404
      @FSX404  10 лет назад

      jyotiraj I know I answered you on instagram but this is for everyone's benefit.
      Video and engine/environment sounds are recorded on a GoPro Hero3. The ATC audio is recorded separately, then added later in when editing the video.

  • @airforcemilan

    i'm curious, how old are you?, it's impressive that you fly all over the place and in clouds, you must have your instrument rating

    • @FSX404
      @FSX404  10 лет назад +1

      Im 37, and I am instrumwnt rated. I actually have more than enough instrument time for an ATP.
      As far as being to places, its Sothern California, we have at least 30 airports within 100 miles and over 60 within 200 miles, so it does seem like Ive been to a lot of differnet airports.

    • @FSX404

    You got your cfi? I'm finishing my private, ready to start on my instruments.

    • @FSX404
      @FSX404  10 лет назад

      jeanredner no CFI yet, just too busy to do it. IFR training is long and can get a little tedious cause you need 40 hours in IMC and under the hood, but it makes you a much better pilot.

    what would u do in a situation where tower gives u a wrong heading

    • @FSX404
      @FSX404  8 лет назад +1

      ATC did give me a heading that made no sense. Always verify. If in doubt, you can tell ATC unable to do their last and ask the ATC to give you a safe vector until situation is resolved

    How much does it cost to get ur pilots licence

    • @FSX404
      @FSX404  10 лет назад

      Basic pilots license in the US can cost from $9,500 to $12,000.
      To get to commercial level (become instructor) cheapest is around $70,000 and as much as $120,000.
      It all depends how and where you do it.

    why you didn't fly PT?

    • @FSX404
      @FSX404  4 года назад

      You only fly the PT if the ATC clears you to the IAF. If they clear you on to final approach course then you dont fly it.
