Have owned a 2016 300 RR since new. Still have the factory oil injection, still on the original top end, 160 hours now. As mentioned in a previous comment reply down below, proper jetting and float height adjustment will drastically improve the fuel economy and performance. Suzuki NECJ or NEDJ needle will make a big difference, adjust your float height lower, you can also loop the vent tubes but I haven’t done that to mine personally. I can get 60-70 miles on the stock 2.5 gal tank without issue. Most I’ve ever gone is 72 miles before I hit reserve. You don’t need a bigger tank unless you want a lot more range. We ride in similar elevation and terrain. I ride mostly in PA or NJ. I haven’t raced in a couple years, took some time off riding for a bit but when I did I was doing C Vet Class in ECEA Enduros. Beta’s are amazing bikes. You made a very good choice and the 2020’s are a big improvement over previous years. Happy to help if you have any questions. Also the stock tires flat out suck for east coast terrain, throw an M59 front and 525 cheater rear on it and never look back.
I know Im asking the wrong place but does anybody know a method to get back into an instagram account?? I was dumb lost my account password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me!
@Gunner Gideon Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site on google and Im trying it out atm. Takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Haven't hit reserve on mine yet but I heard Beta's have really high pick up tubes so they have a lot of fuel left on reserve. I went Smart Carb for fuel economy. When I shut the fuel off it runs for about 15 mins with the Smart Carb. Wouldn't run that long on the stock carb but I didn't time the stock carb vs the Smart Carb.
@@lboughto I've had the same experience with the Smart Carb on my 500. The $700 price tag scared me at first but I bit the bullet one day and WOW, am I glad that I did. It did run great with the old carb with fine tuned jetting but the SC2 makes it run even better. I have found the power to be very linear with a very strong top end pull. My fuel lasts a very long time, the throttle response is lightning fast like an EFI bike and the power increase was very noticeable. The only thing I had to touch was the idle. I tell people that it's the best thing (let alone 700 dollars spent) that I have ever done to any of my bikes. I'm eventually going to get one made for my carburetor'd 2006 YZ250F. I actually enjoy playing with jets and needles, but after my experience with the SmartCarb I don't even want a bike with a standard carb again. I was very skeptical of the SC2 until I actually tried it and it's legit.
Sharp looking Beta! Two strokes rock - 2 strokes and carbs are like PB&J. I picked up a new KTM '18 XC as it had a carb. Put a Lectron on it, and after dialing it in, the carb is perfect everywhere and at every temp.
I drove from long Island New York to Lexington South Carolina for my 2021 Beta 250RR and it was def worth the long hellish drive!! Absolutly love my Beta. Hauls the mail and i can literally go and drop off my mail on the street lol.
200 KTM's kick ass,Ive had 4 of them. Oddly I like the older ones better, due to the motor being torquier down low,the newer they are the more of a screamer they are. I liked my 01 MXC200,I liked my 04 200. The 09 I had had to be screamed to go up big hills. Not an advantage.
I ride a 2013 Beta 250rr and love it. Not knocking any other bike and ive ridden alot of different bikes. As an older slower C 40 rider, it fits my style the best. Hope you continue to enjoy the new bike. Keep up the cool vids man!
2019 Beta 200 here with over 100 hrs. Zero issue and Beta is a great company to work with. +1 on the 525 cheater and I like the Shinko fatty on the front
I own a 2018 RR, an excellent bike. Like you, I had a few minor QA issues that were easily fixed. I think the typical rider would love the Beta. If you must have the most advanced & most expensive bike on the market, go KTM. But, I'm not convinced it adds any fun factor for the typical rider.
I’ve run the 525 multiple times. I’m using the new IRC VE33S gummy right now. It’s great. No mushy feel like the 525 when turning but hooks up sweet on the rocks and forest crap. Got a Nitromousse soft mousse in it.
You might want to dial the carb in a bit. The float needs adjusted... They're always so high from the factory, Double loop both sets of lines, loop the overflow tube up and over the air intake so you're not dumping gas as much. Jetting sounds good I wouldn't change anything on it. Those little mods should help with getting more mileage out of your tank of gas.
I picked up the 2020 300RR a few weeks ago. Haven't ridden in like 15 years. Love the bike. Doing some hard Enduro stuff... Number one get rad braces. Number two, get a pipe guard. I mangled my pipe and rad on the left side. And my body lol
I GOT THE 2021 250RR WITH THE OIL INJECTION AND LOVE IT !! GAVE ME THE RACING PLACTICS AS WELL WHICH I JUST LOVE THE RWB!!! DROVE FROM NEW YORK TO SOUTH CAROLINA TO GET IT AND SUV BROKE DOWN NOT ONCE BUT 2 FREAKING TIMES ON THE WAY DOWN WAS A NIGHTMARE LOL BUT BIKE WAQS WELL WORTH IT
16 250 race edition with well over 300 abused hours, 0 issues other than anodizing on forks. 19 300 race edition with 130 slightly more respected hours and also 0 issues. Both bought new and still own them both. Can't wait to get another 250 race ed! M59 front and irc ve33s gekkota rear. Especially good on wet and slick roots and rocks.
14:20 "Geez" sounded like Mr Garrisson haha, All that aside, awesome Rig Mate, im dying to see a long term review as I have one of these on my wishlist, happy riding !
2015 Beta 250rr race edition, bought new in 15 and still has the same plug with 150hrs. 0 issues. I run a 13-49 gearing and find it gives you alot more low end. really nice bikes just the parts support here in Alberta, Canada isn't good at all. I had a crash and needed a new rad and it was 5 weeks to get the part. Also keep an eye on your kickstand, the bolt like to rattle loose, i lost my stand last year and haven't gotten around to replacing it, leaning on trees and anything you can find sucks.
2019 Beta 300rr from Brewer. The bike is amazing! You can ride up hills in the wrong gear and it just lugs right up. Have you played with the power valve adjustment?
Great bike. I had one and loved it. But I also realized I was attempting to do things I had no place attempting and realized I preferred the DS life. KTM dealers are way more prevalent so its not surprise to be more popular along with the Husky. But Beta has been gaining ground and Sherco is seeping in too. It will be interesting to see how GasGas fares with having KTM as their parent now. We definitely have a good selection of 2 strokes(and 4 strokes) for trail/woods/enduro type riding like never before.
My 2021 300RR Race Edition has the same stickers on the front fender! Waiting on springs for it, but so far I am liking the 2 stroke more than my 4 stroke BMW-Era Husky 310R. Some of those clips also remind me of NCMP.
I have owned several Betas and one thing I discovered was loose fasteners and too tight of the drive chain. After I corrected those very minor issues, they were great bikes.
Great initial thoughts! Bought a 2020 250RR a couple months ago and am feeling very at home on mine too. My fuel economy is much better though, but I’m still figuring out my jetting too so I don’t lose power. Seems to come very rich from the factory. It’s a great company to support!
Justin Redman I cant comment on betas 250. But Ktm / husky 250 had plenty of bottom end It seemed. The only reason I went with 300 is every now an again I find my self in the wrong gear going uphill. The 300 can lug down below idle speed and still pull up hills
Ben Hunt I’d disagree too! I haven’t run into a hill where the Beta 250 couldn’t lug. It’s really surprised me so far. I really think Beta has the engine spot on compared to other brands- honestly the thing I think sets them apart the most. Better power delivery and more usable power than husky/ktm in my opinion.
I’ve been on a 2015 ktm 250 xcw since new and I demoed a 22 250 rr and the motor was great! Really fast revving, smooth, and had good low end. Felt really light. I was right at home and really impressed. Made me want to get another 250 but I ended up ordering the 300 Race Edition. Both motors were such an improvement on my 15 KTM. It’s crazy what 7 years of technology can do. So pumped to get my 300 in Feb/Mar!!!
At the present, I have a 2014 Husky te300, a 2018 te300, and a 2017 Beta 300RR. If I were to buy a 2020, it would be a Beta 300RR. One thing you need to do on any new bike is to go over all the fasteners and ensure they are tight. I found loose bolts and nuts on both my 18 Husky and the 17 Beta when they were brand new. And the drive chain on the Beta was way too tight, so had to be loosened.
I am 59 and ride a KTM 250 xc-w--tpi and love it. I can race it and I made jit street legal here in AZ. Like your Videos. You should watch Megs Brapp videos.
For the rear if you want to try a gummy look at the Kenda Ibex or if you want to do the 525 make sure you go with a 120 not the 110. Bring that thing to EB so I can see it!
Dude, that looks like a nice little bike. I love the fact that it's street legal. They don't make a lot of dual sports these days, and definitely not 2 stroke. One day I want a dual sport, this might be the bike for me.
Those Michelin tires are the same Jarvis is using. Just need lower tire pressure. Carry a pump with you and use tubliss or mousse with drilled holes if you aren't using on the street.
I just changed from the IRC IX-09 to the VE33 and I love them. The IX-09 was too gummy and didn't last as few months. VE33S has done better but still grip like crazy.
wait the beta 300 is street legal already right off the dealer? great video I have the TE250i and looking to get into a 300. I am pretty heavy and on top I want to have a higher gear to hit highway speeds for trail hopping until I get a beta 490 or something.
Why not ? Especially when a good deal can be had. Ktm and sherco may not be as willing to negotiate. Then again we're in uncharted economic times , more or less. Congratulations on a new lap record in less than optimal conditions. Are you running the tires aired down? Nobody seems to like them in the wet, but nobody ever says what pressure they are at. Big difference between 15 psi front and rear and sat 8.5 in the front and 6.0 out back.525 extreme is a better wet/mud conditions operator than the 505 in my opinion. The tusk recon does alot for not alot, if the tall profile doesn't bother you.
Congrats on the purchase! Check the float height to see if you can get more fuel economy with a slightly lower setting (usually set quite high). People get good economy with a Suzuki NECJ needle as well. Oh and play with your power valve adjuster to change engine characteristics. Much more of an effect than the mapping switch. Also how does the 300rr compare to the Xtrainer you recently rode, suspension aside?
BlueThunder69NZ Alll of this! This is exactly what I was just about to reply with. Fuel Economy will drastically improve with a Suzuki NECJ needle, setting the float height lower, and looping the vent tubes. Owned a 2016 300 RR since new. I can get 60-70 miles on the stock tank, depending on speed and terrain. Most I’ve ever gone was 72 miles.
In my 17 Beta 309RR, I use a 160 main, 35 pilot, and necj needle, lowered my float level, and she runs great from 2500 feet in southwest Idaho to 10,400 feet in central Idaho. No complaints.
I tested a Beta, loved it but there are zero Dealers near where I live. So I am going KTM 300xc I like Fuel Injection. Where do you ride? Are the trails private or open to the public?
Had my 2021 Beta 390 RR Race shipped without exhaust pipe from factory. Then had light kit added without asking for it or wanting it. But signals didnt work, speedo didn't work. Needed to replace signal relay to account for LED lights but dealer didn't know that so I had to figure it out. Engine leaked but fixed under warranty. Dealer didn't know that there are two places that need to have oil so almost ruined engine if I hadn't caught it. Oh, and fuel sensor was dead after a few hours. Replaced and died again immediately. Distributor says they are all like that. I think I forgot a few things too.
I own 3 Beta 300s, and after I did the following items, they were rock solid machines. As good as or better than all the KTMs I owned since 1991. About 11 of them. 1. Go over all fasteners and check for looseness. I had to tighten fender bolts and battery terminals. 2. Check the drive chain. On all 3 of mine, the chains were too tight from the factory. 3. Get rid of the factory coolant. It has a tendency to leak through head 0 rings and thermostat cover 0 rings. Just use standard yellow/green coolant. 4. Stock rear tires leave something to be desired. I went to gummy rubber knobbies. Cheater 505s. They work great on Idaho's technical steep mountain terrain. I recently sold my 2015 and 2016 300s, still have my 2017. It's a great bike! I also own a 2018 Husky TE300. Its carbed, so a good bike. The Beta does not take a back seat to a Husky or KTM, IMO. And I love the carb. Friends with TPI 2 stroke have issues, with short warranties. Maybe the TPI will be reliable one day, but for now, no thanks!
Try the MotoZ Arena Hybrid for the rear, they make a standard compound as well as a gummy compound version. I recently purchased one (non-gummy) for my 2001 CR250R and absolutely love it, and it has been holding up very well. I am sure it is going to be my new tire of choice from here on out. I used ride with a Battlecross X30 on the front for a few years and switched to the X20 when I switched to the Arena Hybrid rear. It has turned out to be an excellent combination for me and the Sierra terrain I ride in.
Do you get your suspension revalved or keep it stock? How suspension is on a stock bike makes no difference to me because the first thing I get done is a suspension revalve- set up 🤷♂️
With a new bike I am always going to tune suspension, ergos and adapt to the rest to be happy. One aspect I don't know if I could do without is the post-'17 KTM/Husky counter-balanced motor. There is little vibration. Comments?
Great bike! Have had on for a month there are little things that are problems. Speedo line has short in it down by wheel ez warranty fix.take those tires off put a 525 on rear and 81 I front confidence builder. Cruise thumper talk a lot of help in beta forums. Good luck have fun
Definitely change the tires, stockers are DOT Euro legal. My 16' 300 RR has 105 hours and I have yet to do anything, same chain, spokes have never needed tightening just changed rear pads still stock fronts, the thing is crash and bullets proof.
Starter wire is definitely not part of the PDI. Sounds like maybe it just went down the assembly line on a Friday. Regardless, sweet machine bro. I'm sitting here eating lunch with my feet kicked up on the back tire of the same bike right now.
7:30 "Not trying to bag on KTM"... Did you know your thumbnail says, "KTM Sucks"? lol :P Thanks for the vid! I'm trying to decide between 350RRS and 390RRS.
Hey man, I know this video is a couple years old but if you could answer, I’d appreciate it. After riding for a while, do you still feel the same about the suspension? I’m torn so hard right now between the 300rr, 300 race edition, & Husky Te300. All things equal, I want the carb, but suspension is key. Neck & wrist issues, but want to do hare scrambles & hard enduro, amateur, riding my whole life, 42 now, but never raced, always had crappy bikes. But am in a spot to buy a new Beta or 1yr old Te300 for same price. Any input from 1st hand exp would be awesome. Thanks.
Just my $.02, I prefer the ZF Sachs front and rear suspension on the RR models. Every dealer I talked to recommended this suspension on my ‘23 for trail riding and harder enduro in Colorado and Utah. I’ve had really good results with my ‘23 300rr
Im picking up a used 2020 300RR with 10 hours on it tomorrow. After having 25 KTM,s I’m just not in the mood to pay over 10K for a motorcycle with Fuel Injection that runs about 80% as well as a bike with a dialed in carburetor.
With the stutter you had on the 4t demo try rotating your arm/wrist so that you are twisting the throttle more like you would twist a screw driver and make sure you are gripping the bike with your legs.
Why didn't you buy the 390 other than the obvious weight and 2 vs 4 stroke? I'm coming off the KTM 350 that I won a few VCHSS and VXCS races with, and am pissed that KTM nixed the kick starter completely. The Beta 350 is too much race for me, thoughts on the 390?
31 miles and you're on reserve 🧐. My friend has a 2019 race edition and he gets 70+ miles on a tank of fuel before using reserve. Short shift the 300 unless you need the power. The 300 will pull a higher gear no prob 👍. Just my observation
Yo, Ik this doesn’t relate to this video but how hard is the hangover hare scramble at Wicomico/budds creek bc I really want to do it and I want to practice the right stuff. (From what I’ve watched you ride at all the places I do so I’m always down to meet new riders!)
Well, it’s pretty tough. One year it was a sheet of ice, the next year it was so muddy that ruts swallowed bikes. They had to get a crew of 4x4 quads to extract some bikes sunk to the handlebars. All the other races around our area seem to be much easier.
I own a 2020 tm en300 (carburetor) and previously owned a 2017 Ktm exc 300 and i must say the Tm is one well developed bike. The ktm creeded alot of fine tuning whit that mikuni carburetor and suspension felt akward. Sure the tm might be a bit to the stiffer side and can give some harsh feedback. But it wont bottom our wash out. And power is insane
I would get a beta but there too expensive especially because I’ve never had a bike before so I’m getting a TT-R because it’s not that expensive and it’s an overall good entry level bike.
Btw beta has two very common problems with their bikes the oil injection pump and the the main bearing bot cause catastrophic engine failure so be aware of that.
had a ktm 200exc street legal, same deal fantastic in dirt, sucked on street. I have a modded wr250r now. Has good and bad points but takes me anywhere.
i thought about one of those bikes but went with the ktm because they have fuel injection i do alot of riding at sea level and the colorado rockies havind not to mess with the carb was the selling point for me

Adjust your float height. Notorious for being too high from the factory. Loop your overflow tubes over the carb. Economy will drastically improve.
Yep.
Not a good idea to loop the overflows

Such a cool bike, I always loved the Beta’s I just wish there were more dealers. Also getting parts always sketches me out...
Vince Tucker depends where you live but the parts difficulty is a myth. Never had any issues with my Beta and getting parts is not a problem

Im in az also and have a 300 xcw. Did the dmv have to inspect the bike?
@@jeffro7p202 no not at all
For the rear if you want to try a gummy look at the Kenda Ibex or if you want to do the 525 make sure you go with a 120 not the 110.
Jarvis uses the gummy version, much different
The betas are amazing fighting carb issues on mine.. 3/4 to full
Don't forget the adjustable power valve, makes a huge difference how the power comes on.
I really like the IRC VE33 gummy tires too.
Great video! My buddy just bought a Beta!
Did you really think you wouldn’t go back to a 2 smoker! LOL
I love my 300.
Thank you both! Really good info!!!
The beta comes to rich standard you can by other jets (jb jets) to give you better fuel economy
@74 CYCLES Sorry, I don’t speak english.
Great choice I will be getting the same. Ceep the video coming I would like to know if you have any problems.
For being a brand that isn't well known, I've heard that they're pretty good bikes.
Not well known??? Maybe in USA
Vasilis Dedes They are pretty well known here. Very popular in my area after Husky and KTM. 🇺🇸
The Japanese bikes are the ones that are talked about frequently here. Followed by KTM and Husqvarnas, something like that.
Spartan375x for enduro or mx?
Beta has made trials bikes for years. Very good bike!
How do you compare the beta 300rr to your buddies husqvarna?
Crazy u can get a 2 stroke street legal. That's cool ima have to check in my state and buy one just to ride around on a 2T.
What did you do w your 2017 xcw?? I thought you loved that thing
Just curious bc im in the market as well
Do you get your suspension revalved or keep it stock?
This model is oil injected correct? I am excited for you with this new Beta.
I forgot to mention, I had to lower the float level in all my Betas. It helped a bunch!
Yep. Every Beta 2 stroke comes from the factory with the float too high.
Glad to see you back on that beautiful 2 stroke brother. Welcome Home!!!
That beta looks like fun! I would love to have a street legal two stroke!
Starter wire is definitely not part of the PDI. Sounds like maybe it just went down the assembly line on a Friday. Regardless, sweet machine bro. I'm sitting here eating lunch with my feet kicked up on the back tire of the same bike right now.
Nice!! Yea I didn’t think it was apart of PDI. I’ll have to pull plastics an make sure no other issues.
hi,nice view !! what is the difference about fuel compustion tpi or carburator?? thank you!
Hi
What hand guards are those. Just got a Beta 2020 390👌🏻
"hometown advantage"...lol...I'd say you ride that track like you built it! lol! Nice looking machine!
7:30 "Not trying to bag on KTM"... Did you know your thumbnail says, "KTM Sucks"? lol :P
Thanks for the vid! I'm trying to decide between 350RRS and 390RRS.
Those would be my picks if i was buying new currently. All they need is the soft seat and your tires of preference. I like the 350 cuz its a revver
he doesnt know ktm owns 80% of beta
@@ktmcrush2290 I don't think they do. But they did buy GasGas.
Piqued my interest, that's one sexy bike.
Smaller motorcycle manufacturer's are exempt from typical rules. Once Beta gets big, they will have more restrictions on what's plate able.
Another good one! Keep em coming.
Great bike can’t wait to see how you go on it and how it lasts. Just remember to clean the air filter lol
I got my KTM from Brewer cycles, good dealer for sure!
I have Michelin AC10s on my DR200s and i love them i plan on putting some on my KDX200 and seeing if i get the same results.
IRC v33s rear starcross 5 soft front 👌🏻
Ve33s is my go to
How the suspension feel though? Torn between a 250rr racing and the normal 250rr, currently riding a wr250f
How many miles down the highway would you be comfortable riding your 300 at 60 miles an hour?
There good bike if you can get past the main baring , electrical, brakes and suspension issues, enjoy
I tried the 525 on my husky that is now my go to race rire ..I dont think you'll be disappointed with the traction especially on wet rock and roots
Robert Daniel I got 60 plus miles on my Beta 300
How did it hold up?
is it oil-injected like the KTM 300? or is it premix only?
Yo, Ik this doesn’t relate to this video but how hard is the hangover hare scramble at Wicomico/budds creek bc I really want to do it and I want to practice the right stuff. (From what I’ve watched you ride at all the places I do so I’m always down to meet new riders!)
Well, it’s pretty tough. One year it was a sheet of ice, the next year it was so muddy that ruts swallowed bikes. They had to get a crew of 4x4 quads to extract some bikes sunk to the handlebars. All the other races around our area seem to be much easier.
I hear Brushy Mountain is back open. You should take a look.
Nice bike. Love how Beta is keeping KTM on its toes. Did you look at the Sherco or TM 300s?
I own a 2020 tm en300 (carburetor) and previously owned a 2017 Ktm exc 300 and i must say the Tm is one well developed bike. The ktm creeded alot of fine tuning whit that mikuni carburetor and suspension felt akward.
Sure the tm might be a bit to the stiffer side and can give some harsh feedback. But it wont bottom our wash out. And power is insane
@@Wafflemaste Curious on how they hold up parts availability? I think there may be a dealer within 2 hrs of my area.
@@jeffloucks2120 order online is one option, delivered to you .
why did you sell the KTM? I am thinking of buying one.
just started to build my own 500 online did u build one or get the stock set up and did u pay msrp or did they give a promootion
I would get a beta but there too expensive especially because I’ve never had a bike before so I’m getting a TT-R because it’s not that expensive and it’s an overall good entry level bike.
Good stuff Jon!
Thanks man.
Is that throttle cable supposed to be routed over to the left side? Cable looks very tight.
sss right side is correct
Have your suspension guy check those fork tubes after 20 -40 hours..known issue w anodizing on some.
If you don’t mind me asking, how tall are you
Btw beta has two very common problems with their bikes the oil injection pump and the the main bearing bot cause catastrophic engine failure so be aware of that.
had a ktm 200exc street legal, same deal fantastic in dirt, sucked on street. I have a modded wr250r now. Has good and bad points but takes me anywhere.
i thought about one of those bikes but went with the ktm because they have fuel injection i do alot of riding at sea level and the colorado rockies havind not to mess with the carb was the selling point for me
Doug Kershaw yes good point! I would do the same.
I wish to know more of this beta.
I did that on my new 2020 klx 250 but in a snow rut looking back haha
Such a nice build 🍁💕
How are you finding the 300 RR now?
Love it! Had some wiring issues. Other then that, better then my Ktm 300.
Love the bike! 🔥
Where do you ride in Virginia?
Have you figured out somewhere else yet
