Undo one screw and the blinker switch comes off the bottom of the switch block. Take the tank off WITH the map switch attached. It's just one plug. Put 2 zip ties in the grooves of your exhaust rubber. It will seal up nicely. Love your reviews mate. Legend ✊
I absolutely love my 2020 300rr. The biggest thing is that I was able to get one fully street legal from the dealer in NY state. A street legal 2 stroke is unheard of in NY
saddrums , I live near the MN / WI border and if you live in MN, the dealer can title and plate almost any bike for you. Here in WI it's nearly impossible, and you're on your own in getting the title and plate.
This should be the industry standard review process. Real time on the bike (not just a weekend), real world scenario’s that call out real world concerns and quirks. And most important, transparent and honest. Great review.
My 2020 Beta 300RR does have an hour meter; you have to click the button on RH side a few times to see it. It actually has three hour meters: 1 non-resettable and 2 resettable. The non-resettable holds its value even after removing the coin cell battery. Regarding fuel consumption it does go on reserve earlier than most bikes I've had but that's because it has an unusually large reserve tank that I measured to be 1 full gallon. I generally get about 75 miles on a full 2.55 gallon tank, or 30 miles per gallon.
Jimmy G , O know someone who knows what hes talking about , thanks for sharing . These people the review people casting shadows on bikes . Its a cult haha , nice bike you own .
I swear I learn more each time I watch any of his videos even if I’m never going to even think about or actually get the bike he’s reviewing your channel has grown so much keep up the great work love watching your vids
I feel that some of criticisms are a bit unreasonable. The Betas come ready to make street legal. It’s a bonus feature that many of us like and makes them unique. If you don’t want the turn signal controls on the “race bike” just remove them. Beta even provides a number plate with the bike if you want to remove the headlight. The kill switch location is a personal preference you have, not a flaw with the bike. And to be critical of the map switch location near the fuel tank after noting the controls crowd the bar space is also unreasonable. I personally think it’s a great place to put it. How often are you removing your fuel tank anyway to be inconvenienced by taking 5 extra seconds to avoid yanking the map switch wire out? Lastly, regarding suspension, does anyone have anything positive to say about stock suspension these days on any bike? Any serious rider is going to revalve whatever he’s riding. Adjusting the front forks with those bars is however is annoying... I don’t mean to be a Beta fanboy, but it’s clear you prefer orange bikes for your personal preference which is absolutely ok. I hope I don’t come off as a jerk, just wanted to pass along my comments. Thanks for the content and review 👍🏻
Good points I recently purchased a 20 390 re and the KYB'S on my bike are amazing. Also Kyle should have noted that depending on where you run your bar camps like the the position I run mine in I can get to the clickers very easily. Also love the fact I can slap a plate on my re and go dual sporting or just take it all off and go full moto.
Chris you have spoken pretty much exactly the thoughts running through my head. To be honest when you take into account the ridiculous complaints he has about the bike, it sure sounds like it's a do it all perfect machine. So far I love my 300RR2T (Non race edition).
@@lukasraus3391 since nobody has responded to you yet the ktm and its clones that are street legal tend to be very finicky and hard to ride at lower rpm's they also have a high tendency to flame out where as the betas regardless of if you get the rr or the street legal rr-s will basically tractor up a hill at idle with the clutch fully out and it doesn't have the same issues pulling from the low rpm as other fuel injected bikes on the market I hope this helps to explain the hype behind the betas
I have an ‘18, Kyle. You nailed it on the review and Beta seems to have improved at a snails pace and even fallen off in some areas. Competition is fierce among the manufacturers but weekend warriors like most of us need simplicity in all cases. Great vid my man.
When you have Steve Holcombe as a test rider... that's the softer version he rides at supersonic speeds! :)) For us, mortals the forks are super stiff. Next plastics, Polisport. Are unbreakable.
My Speedo kept re-setting straight up in the first hour, turns out the plug in the back of the dash wasn't seated completely, pushed it in and heard it click and hasn't failed since. I've put 15 hours on the bike since then with no dramas. I quite like the forks, I certainly adjusted the clickers to softest compression and took a few out of the rebound, but I'm happy with how they are, yes they're a bit stiffer than most enduro bikes straight out the box but it let's me ride more aggressively and the cornering ability is amazing. No more front end wallowing from the softer setups
Have a 2018 BYOB 300 Race edition. 0 issues love the bike. The only nit picks i have is the instrumentation is cluttered, kickstand is not best design, it does vibrate a lot but that doesn't impact my hands or feet but I do have to check for loose bolts a little more often. That's about it. No issues with plastics, computer, brakes, speedometer etc.
I was thinking the same thing watching him struggle with the seat. I for one love the quick release and hate the idea of going back to bolts fastening it on.
And it helps to clean the opening where the push button slides into. The seat of my 2020 RR300 also became jharder to remove. Just cleaned out the sand and grit and it is brilliantly simple to remove. Come on, maintain your bike :-)
Honest review. I am surprised about the hard seat removal, I have 3 Beta's, 2013 350 race edition, 2017 Xtrainer and a 2019 390 race edition and all of the seats remove extremely easy, forget about the bolt on crap IMO. I think Beta rushed into the KYB forks myself, the 19 race edition Sachs closed cartridge are awesome
Oh my gosh the anticipation of the drawing is setting in! I've never won any drawing in my life this would be amazing!!! Love your vids and they've helped me maintain old Craigslist beaters for me and my girlfriend to ride for sure so thank you for your content
KYLE! In right hand drive markets it's mandatory to have a killswitch on the right side. Betas are very common in Australia, hence the switch on yours is on the right. Same reason for all of the light switches and crap, in Aus we have to have road registration to ride trails.
Best looking dirt bike on the market next to tm racing. Now you've done a bunch of Betas, any chance of testing another true Italian stallion, tm racing? Love your honesty, keep it up!
I just put a deposit on a new TM EN300...beautiful bike and POWERFUL engine! But please don't ask him or anyone else to review the bike...I HATE hearing people/magazines put this special engine/bike down...just forget they exist and let the small community of 1500 owners in America a year enjoy them! :) They truly are an amazing engineering marvel...
If you have a shot at getting one though, I highly recommend...my wife has a 2020 Husqvarna TE, and I love how comfortable that bike feels (one of my favs), however, the local shops all sold out of the Husqvarna 2Ts, so I went to search for something different...TM immediately caught my eye when I went to look for Shercos (which were sold out as well) by the time I made it to the shop, and I am SO lucky fate had the TM and I meet...was going for a 250 but none were in stock so the 300 was left for me. I NEVER have felt SO comfortable on a bike before. (Please know that I am an athletic 265 lbs so the kyb may be too stiff for some, but for me it feels the same as my KYBs I've had on my Yami-mommies! What I love the most is that if you are a racer or an aggresive rider these things are really "ready to race" out of the box/factory...everything looks and feels like top-scale functioning race art...the triple clamps, the brake pedal and arm, the engine and chassis - sand cast look, HGS exhaust sustem, and even the hardware...mine came with the upgraded Reikon handlebars that has a crossbar (gonna add a blue GPR steering stabilizer with it). Everything feels so connected, stable, and planted. I bunny-hopped it around the shop like it was back in my BMX days. Haha That is the last point - they are VERY light...almost on par with it's white sister in my garage, or with it's orange riding buddies down the road. Lol Seriously though, they are pretty much the same price as KTM/Husqvarna except a few 4T racing models that can cost ya the same or 1k more as the "special edition" Ktm's...but just remember what you're getting...it is a "Factory" or "Works" RACING dirt bike. That is their mission and goal - produce top-tier racing bikes and go karts! It was told to me that it is a pure-bred race bike and intended for that small community...much like how Honda tries to inform people that the CRF450RX is not a bike to just go putt-putt around in the forest on...these bikes want to send it! Do you? Sounds like you might, so if you do jump on it fast cause these bikes are harder to come by than other brands...annnndddd, don't believe all the non-sense about LONG part delivery, or price gauging on their parts...not true at all (especially with the right dealer). It's about the same price as other Euro companies. Just my two 💰...cause that's what it will take to purchase it - especially adding the reikon bars, bigger tank, addition of dunlop tires added instead of Mitas, and ohlin's shock as options at your purchase. ;) -I did without the Dunlop tires & ohlins TTX shock since the Mitas tires and TM shock are really good as is. You'll love having the brembo/nissin combinations for brakes/master cylinder too. 👌👍💪🤘 Hope that informs you some. The TMs and Shercos have a really special place in my heart...these two small "underdog" companies have pulled off world championship after championship. Just amazing, reliable, ergonomical, wonderful handling, and beautifully crafted machines. But honestly you can't go wrong with any of the bikes - even the GPX Moto TSE 250R is a sick machine for 5k!!!! There's one down @ the shop where I got me TM, and boy was I surprised with that machine - especially since the 2020/2021 had so many changes! They have oil injection, LED lights, and husqvarna/ktm based chassis, & Updated electric start Yamaha WR 220 based engine that make this bike rip and dip! It can turn heads with the styling too! Totally the BEST first time bike out there...even the hardware etc. is all billet stuff. Just gotta do a few minimal upgrades when you purchase one and you got a very nice bike - again, especially cause it is only 5k!!! Might get one as a backup later... Go TM!!!!!!
For those wondering, you can fix the exhaust leak with a cable tie and don't have to cut it when removing or reinstalling the pipe. Also I love the front brake on the beta, wish more were like it. Can't stand the softer feeling of the Yamaha's and brembos
Great informative video Kyle! I’m new to your channel and have to say that the length of your videos isn’t bothersome at all. You give great tips, tricks, commentary, and reviews that are captivating. Keep up the great content!!!
Very informative. Still want to know how it handles in different scenarios. Corners, rocks, high speed flat, jumps etc. And how the cock pit feels.. narrow, comfy etc. awesome 🤘🏻
I absolutely love this bike!!! I have to agree with Kyle that it’s the best looking dirt bike I’ve ever seen!! I was on the Beta website yesterday and if I read it correctly, these bikes are in such high demand they have put a pause on the BYOB program... Hopefully that won’t last too long!
Iv ridden them all and sherco 300 has to be the best 300 available right now, heaps.of bottom end, great mid top, heaps of aftermarket gear stock and balanced well
Quite plenty of criticism for a 2020 bike They can't sell a bike just because of a great engine I was thinking about '20 model but will wait for the '21 now Thanks Kyle
I don't hit any more on my 17 Beta than I do on my 14 and 18 Huskys. I like the more precise handling a little better on the Huskys and KTMs but the Beta is a rock solid and worthy competitor in my experience.
When I win, this is my bike of choice. Followed by the Yamaha, and then the KTM. And I own, ride and love my KTM 790 Adventure, especially once it's warmed up. But it's so damn lean. Long live the carburetor!
I test rode 1 and found it to be a great bike..but my husky 2019 TE300 I bought 1st and actually love my husky..seems more narly when you tromp on it and would not change..
How does the 300 race have a tighter turning radius than the 200rr? Ismt the 200 built on a smaller chassis? As an owner of a '21 200rr I am a little disappointed in the turning circle. I will have to manipulate/dent the radiator header tanks to get more steering angle. Cheers for your great videos mate.
I'm a long time viewer of your videos and have seen many of the big 300 two strokes, I'm curious to see your thoughts on the Beta XTrainer 300 as it's something out of the league from the other bikes you've tested. I just purchased one for my wife and we both absolutely love it for the tight technical riding. It'd be nice to see a comparison of the XT vs the 200RR/300RR. I honestly think many of your viewers may be better off on the Xtrainer instead of one of the balls out race bikes.
two cable ties on the pipe coupler does the trick. The 300 has always had this issue. The pop tart should be bigger so I can at least put my phone in it.
I think it’s good that the front fork is stiff, it’s a race edition, they are suited for faster riders, I personally thought the fork is amazing for a stock fork
I noticed your fuel mileage comment Kyle. Which of those three carburetors that you tested gave you the best fuel efficiency? Also, if you want to seal up your exhaust, use a KTM TPI exhaust coupler. It fits tight and no RTV required.
Thx great video! I want to choose a new bike: xtrainier 300 VS. RR250 I have 6.3 ft tall (190 cm), and i am a 2t beginner, riding style is single trail, lower speed Technical trail. i like xtrainer Flexible, and xtrainer is correct riding style for me, but i worried about 6.3 ft for xtrainer... >Is too tall for xtrainer? >or is RR250 ok for single trail, lower speed Technical trail?
Good luck everyone, hopefully I got enough entries. Mark my words if I win, I will give the bike to my dad so he can ride with me and my brother. Thanks for the opportunity and the great products
Winning one of these bikes in your raffle would be nice, however, having your job would be better. That way I can buy brand new bikes all the time lol. Be good Kyle and thanks for the videos
I love 2 strokes but I also don't understand the kick start not being apart of the bike what happens when the batter dies bump starting with mud sucks.... Also I do understand the suspension thanks kyle I would be mote then happy to win any of your bikes but as well i do understand all your points with the sharp fenders and the hour meter as well
Great review. Just as a final overview I know you said you like it not love it, but can you give more of a summary about your overall impression? Compared to ktm? Handling?
big YES for the KICKSTARTERS. im coming from an old 2004 - 250 YZ and just buyed 2022 300 Beta RR. i mean why it disapeared ???? i miss my kick starter :(
The race edition KYBs are probably the worst forks ever fitted to a bike. Gives you some insight to how important the engineers are in setting up the forks. Yamaha KYBs.... The best. Beta KYBs... The worst.
Hey Kyle, great review. For your next bike review could you either review a 2018-19 Gas Gas ec 250/300 or a 2019-20 Sherco se 250/300. I’d like to hear your opinion of them.
only thing those upward canted pegs are good for is wearing out your boots, and the highest parts of the peg is taking all the weight(right in the center of the boot sole). I grind my pegs to where flattish, much more comfortable and your boot soles will thankyou. But yeah, upward Kant ,they tilt your knees it , and to me make the pegs uncomfortable
Thats a western powersports lithium ion battery, it probably had a 7 or 9lb lead acid battery but the equivielent lithium ranges between 1.9 and 2.1lbs! Just wait for the graphene batteries on the coming electric dirtbikes! If you think the alta electric bike is competitive now wait until it has 30% more power and about 25-30% lighter due to graphene weighing a fraction of lithium ions with 10x the capacity of an equally sized lithium ion!!!
One question how did you setup your powervalve? I got a brand new rr 300 2022 and mine was stock 3/4 of a turn from flush. I feel that the bike is not so agressive from middle to high Rpm's, I mean it still very strong but it's not just how I thought it will be. Can someone give me an advice? Thank you
Bump starting isn't always possible. The single track I ride doesn't have alot of spots where bump starting is possible. All enduro trail/enduro bikes should have a kick start backup.
Totally agree with Matt. I live in Florida and ride eastern enduro tight trails in deep sugar sand... Absolutely no way to bump start unless you feel like pushing to the nearest hard clay road... I’m 60 and just can’t do that. I won’t buy a bike without a kick start anymore.
KTM 300 EXC had everything and i am so sad that it is imposible to buy it now, the "better" newer models with TPI doesnt seem to me as good as 2017 model
Good review, Best way I've found to fix the coupler issue it to use high pressure silicone hose as a coupler. Put it on mine over 3 years ago and never leaked since
How many hours up Kyle? 75h 1200k up on my 2020 RE. You have not answered the one question we want answered. How does it go head to head with a TPI? What jetting with the Keihin carb was optimum.? Explain fully why you ditched the Keihin? Thanks
Ditched the stock carb so that it will run great at any elevation when I give it away. I’d rather own the TPI. This bike wears me out faster time and time again. Honest review and honest answers :)
Not new to riding by any means just looking at my first enduro 2 stroke 300 and trying to choose betweenBeta, gas gas , ktm and I think I’m going with ktm
the disc issue you have on the front i would not be surprised is to do with the discs, the beta has a fixed/ solid disc where as from what i can tell the yz has floating discs.
Undo one screw and the blinker switch comes off the bottom of the switch block.
Take the tank off WITH the map switch attached. It's just one plug.

Great review. Refreshing to watch someone give it the honest shake...
Iv ridden them all and sherco 300 has to be the best 300 available right now, heaps.of bottom end, great mid top, heaps of aftermarket gear stock and balanced well
Love the channel Kyle. Was wondering your thoughts on the Beta 300rr ( any better than the 2020?)
Quite plenty of criticism for a 2020 bike
They can't sell a bike just because of a great engine
I was thinking about '20 model but will wait for the '21 now
Thanks Kyle
I don't hit any more on my 17 Beta than I do on my 14 and 18 Huskys.
I like the more precise handling a little better on the Huskys and KTMs but the Beta is a rock solid and worthy competitor in my experience.
Zip ties on the rubber exhaust coupler, two, in the grooves there for them. My KTM used to spooge out there also.
Another great video and helping these bikes become better. Great format and keep at it! Amazing job!
True about the Betas running out of gas before anyone else's bikes...
Jetting is everything! My 2018 Beta can do the 80km without problems.
My 86’ IT 200 Yamaha would go 100 mi before reserve. Irrelevant I guess but it was a great bike.
David Storm Best Buy a GasGas then..
gotta adjust the float, they don't come set right. My 250RR sips fuel compared to my last ktm.
Amazing review, have you tried the 2019 rr 300 race edition? What do you think about the suspensions of the 2019 version?
I think it’s good that the front fork is stiff, it’s a race edition, they are suited for faster riders, I personally thought the fork is amazing for a stock fork
Love your attitude Kyle. Super down to earth kinda fella!
Appreciate you buddy, thanks for your time
I noticed your fuel mileage comment Kyle.
RR250
I have 6.3 ft tall (190 cm), and i am a 2t beginner, riding style is single trail, lower speed Technical trail.
i like xtrainer Flexible, and xtrainer is correct riding style for me, but i worried about 6.3 ft for xtrainer...
>Is too tall for xtrainer?
>or is RR250 ok for single trail, lower speed Technical trail?
Awesome thanks for sharing this bike full review plus the other bikes.
Good luck everyone, hopefully I got enough entries. Mark my words if I win, I will give the bike to my dad so he can ride with me and my brother. Thanks for the opportunity and the great products
I love good, honest reviews!
Winning one of these bikes in your raffle would be nice, however, having your job would be better. That way I can buy brand new bikes all the time lol. Be good Kyle and thanks for the videos
Good review almost everything you didn’t like about the bike came stock on the 17 300rr.
Handling?
Love my 21 300rr, just piling the hours on it, when you gonna go racing Kyle?
Spot on with the seat😂 I can never get mine off of my 2020 250RR.
Wow, radiators are diamond shaped! Keep it up off the rocks boss.
After all the suspension mods, do you like it better than the 200? Thanks for the 300RR review!
I’d still take the 200RR over this one.
@@DirtBikeChannel - that is what I thought. Cheers and thanks!
Great honest review. I love that bike. 👍👍👍
Best looking 300, Sherco right up there though
I enjoy your videos, thanks. Quick question, is that swingarm made of steel?
big YES for the KICKSTARTERS. im coming from an old 2004 - 250 YZ and just buyed 2022 300 Beta RR. i mean why it disapeared ???? i miss my kick starter :(
This would be such a beast in hard enduro :)
I need this bike in my life...Have the 390 now, but need a 2 smoker..
Husaberg?
Uhh, the seat isn't that hard to get off, gotta preload it with your palm lol. How many hours you actually put on it?
The race edition KYBs are probably the worst forks ever fitted to a bike. Gives you some insight to how important the engineers are in setting up the forks. Yamaha KYBs.... The best. Beta KYBs... The worst.
Solid review Kyle Thankyou.
Hey Kyle, great review. For your next bike review could you either review a 2018-19 Gas Gas ec 250/300 or a 2019-20 Sherco se 250/300. I’d like to hear your opinion of them.
I have just gone from a Yamaha to a beta and noticed the same with the brakes I think its the braided brake line on the beta that makes the difference
Are There any modifications to make it more better to handle?
Great videos, excited for the drawing coming up! 🤞
only thing those upward canted pegs are good for is wearing out your boots, and the highest parts of the peg is taking all the weight(right in the center of the boot sole). I grind my pegs to where flattish, much more comfortable and your boot soles will thankyou.
But yeah, upward Kant ,they tilt your knees it , and to me make the pegs uncomfortable
I like your bike. And I think I love it to own it
That's, ok all those issues can be handled when I pick it up.
Thanks kyle
motorcycle dave North carolina
this is an excellent review.
I would love to see you test a sherco with KYB's!!!
Good honest review mate.
Its not the clutch plates that make the lever harder to pull.....its most likely the clutch springs.
Yeah with beta you really gotta go with polisport plastics bc theyre more flexible and less brittle.
Kyle, have you thought about changing the front brake MC over from the Yamaha? Just for a test to see if that is why the Beta brakes are grabby?
My birthday is June 20th. one of those bikes would be an epic birthday gift!
Thank you
Best looking stock bike!!!
Hey Kyle even the 2023 200 rr spits spooge out the exhaust coupler...
You should review the 300 rx!
What's your hard on obsession for a kick starter? The electric start is totally reliable and if for some reason it fails, just bump start it...
Hey just wanted to ask, if you ever do any racing, and if so what bike do you race?
KTM 300 EXC had everything and i am so sad that it is imposible to buy it now, the "better" newer models with TPI doesnt seem to me as good as 2017 model
Great review! 🤘🏻
This is such an awesome bike my cousin and brother ride Honda’s and I love the color and how much are the handle gards that you use.
Good review,
Best way I've found to fix the coupler issue it to use high pressure silicone hose as a coupler. Put it on mine over 3 years ago and never leaked since
Good review the bike looks amazing.
Yet again I would love for my channel "Dirt Dust & Petrol" to be doing things like this and giving away bikes in the future when we get bigger
So many things you dislike about this bike could’ve been fixed by not getting the race edition.
2024 Beta 300RR vs TE300 TBI? Im on a CRF250F right now and want to get the best bike for Enduro and GNCC.
Great review! Not too long, 5 min reviews suck....
Cheers 👍👍
