You're one of very few people I've heard from that talk about that Zen like state while riding. When I tell non riders what I do for fun they immediately say something to the effect of me being an adrenaline junkie. I'm quick to tell them that there is that element, but that it's much more about that mental flow state, self improvement, and soul cleansing feeling I get when I'm hitting my lines ripping some single track and my balance and technique are on point on the tech terrain that day. This is my church. "So, uh... you still haven't figured out what riding waves (bikes) is all about, have you? It's a state of mind. It's that place where you lose yourself and you find yourself." -Bodhi
And yes, I might start chanting.

I’ve been in this headspace before in other sports, but just picked up dirt bike riding and hadn’t considered getting into that meditative place with it.
I think that’s my new goal. Thanks!

Totally agree with that state and riding. With riding you are locked in and hyper focused on the activity at hand. Bonus if you are in nature. Those combined add to the flow.

I couldn’t be happier with my 2022 300rr race edition. I completely agree with just how much fun the bike is while riding it, I think about getting back on right after I have to get off! The new clutch is unbelievably light, smooth and doesn’t seem to slip at all so far and the stock seat that came on mine seems to be noticeably softer than the standard 2021 models. Very very happy with the decision

Just bought the 2023 300 rr (non-race edition). I was torn between the race/non-race but advice given to me by an enduro racer I know who has both was that the sachs suspension and engine tuning on the non-race was much preferred on technical terrain than the Race edition, which makes sense..the race is really built and tuned for competition riding.
Excited to get out there on the bike. Thanks for the great content.

Yeah buddy that was a perfect explanation of being in the zone. That being said I'm a newbie and have never been there with a bike like yourself but I hope to one day. My first real bike is a 22 beta xtrainer 300 and the more I ride it the more I love it but it did have a bad wiring harness from the factory and as typical the dash doesn't work. I deleted the OI knowing it would probably fail as well. Beta could step up their game in the electronics department. Thanks for another great vid!

Well to be honest I recently bought the 300, 2022 race edition model and since I got it I just can't stop riding. I see my hour counter rising without being aware of it. I'm riding in low altitude and didn't change anything on the carb. For me it's very good for now but i ordered some needles and jet to adapt in case of necessity. The new diaphragm clutch is very good but set in normal position when the bike is new. I haven' t tried the soft position yet. All I can say is that I love this bike so much better than my 21' Sherco or previous KTM. I only ride 2 strokes in 300cc. And this bike is by far my favorite. What I would like to compare with is the latest Rieju 300 MR pro model. Just for fun. I love carbs bikes.

FYI, I set the clutch on my beta to the softest setting and it's great, very light and no slippage. Go for it. I also have the new race model.. only thing I'll change is a high comp head to try get some bottom end back..I found my older 16 model hand a little more grunt down low. Other than that it's fantastic..and the kyb forks are unreal after about the 20hr mark

I enjoy your videos and find them really insightful. I just made the decision that I’m gonna pick up either a GasGas EC300 or Beta 300 RR (non-race) in the next year to start doing more technical riding. I currently have a 2004 KTM 450 MXC that I love, and just came back from a long week of desert riding where I left feeling like I’d want something smaller. Do you have any advice on which of these bikes might be better for a beginner to the medium-hard enduro riding game? I like the TPI for its ability to adjust for altitude on the fly (I was riding from 4-9k every day) but the beta seems a lot simpler which could be an advantage for sure.

On my 3rd Beta one 4T and now on my 2nd 300 2T. The first 300 RR 2T was great, setup the carb for my PNW area and it worked great, only once I got up high enough elevation where I should have changed jetting but was too lazy. Biked work, just not as good. My 2nd Beta a 21 300 RR is great in the low RPM but have yet to sort it out from mid rpm and up. Going up from 162 main to 165 to see what that does. I have also ordered a SC2 so hopefully that will keep me riding more and wrenching a little less.
FWIW the 21 Beta felt like it had a harder clutch pull from my 2017. I put on a Clake One-Light and have been very happy ever since.
Would I buy another Beta, hell yah. Would like to try a 200RR to see if my lazy riding style would mesh with it or if it's another 300RR.

Personally having 2017 te300 2018 tx300 and 2020 tx300i about 500 hrs between them all. Ive ridden the betas and they always have a surprisingly great feeling. staying carb is king as Rich brags the most about how the beta 300 carb runs soo good consistently and I know first had what hes talking about. the new tpi bikes are junk and as far as the legendary 300 performance is concerned they are going back wards with tpi. Im selling my 2020 300 tpi simply because it has half the low end of my carb bikes and if you do hard enduro slow tech you are likely to feel the same way. kinda as rich says, diaphragm clutches are king. Brembo & magura is king. due to my carple tunnel issues i have to stay with the best balanced engine. (ktm/husky)
I HEAR KTM/HUSKY 2023 IS GOING TO THROTTLE BODY INJECTION WHICH COULD HELP ALOT BUT I STILL DOUBT IT WILL BRING THE 300 LEDGEND BACK THAT BRAND.

The state of mind you describe at 3:37 is quite common for track riders. You are just so close to the edge, there is so much happening between you, the machine and the track and you need to react so quickly, your conscious mind is insufficient to deal with it. That is when you strip all the extra stuff away and your conscious and subconscious works in unison at solving the problem, in a way, it is the ultimate freedom, I'm quite jealous that you can get there doing enduro, as getting on a track is not just an afternoon activity.

The beta 2022 model is great for enduro, some complan that the engine has lost 3 horsepower but l don’t know if thats true

We’ll find out! I’d be willing to bet most guys don’t have the ability to feel 3 hp. Might even make the engine more tractable and Hard Enduro situations.

Do you know the difference between NECJ and NECW needle? I already ordered NECJ and not sure if will be ok for Keihin 36mm, most I see they are using it on 38mm.

Hey Rich, have you had any main bearing issues with the 300rr's? I have a 2020 200 with about 80 hours with no problems and just picked up a used 2020 300rr with only 5 hours (it's essentially new). How concerned are you about the main bearing thing?

It runs great at 10k. Less power just like any bike but very similar.
      This was shot at 10k

Everything else is shot at about 5k. With a little air screw adjustment it’s dialed

Are you gonna be riding a Beta in 2023? If I recall correctly you had a high praise for the Sherco as well at 50hrs. You're a great rider, I respect your opinion. But a truly unbiased opinion is difficult to come bye. At sum point along the line you had to put sum skin in the gm. I've been enjoying your videos for a few yrs, but I haven't seen you ride the same brand for 2 consecutive yrs yet. So will we see you on a Beta in 23?

    • @IRCTireUSAMoto
      @IRCTireUSAMoto  2 года назад +1

I had high praise for the Sherco, Gas Gas, Ktm, Tm, Husky, and Beta. As I said in my comparisons each bike has its own pros and cons. Truthfully I would pick a different bike for every race. For example last weekend at the US Hard Enduro in Montana. I’d probably choose the TM. It has more top and power than any bike and would be great for hill climbs. If the race didn’t have much elevation change but was extremely technical I’d probably choose the Sherco. It lugs better than any other brand. If I was racing a race like sea a sky, I’d probably use a KTM branded machine. Due to the huge elevation change going from sea level to 10,000 feet. Also the extremely strong clutch. If I was to choose a bike for having fun and getting Instagram clips which is mostly what I do I pick the Beta.
That being said my plan is to compare the 21 to the 22 beta due to all the changes that they’ve made. Then we continue testing different brands.
