Unpopular opinion: Maxine was wrong for telling the family that Terri could front the medical bills, but wants to get mad when Terri wanted to sell the house. Nobody offered to help, they just assumed that she could pay it all. I can’t stand people who want to be in other’s wallets and schedules….
Also I’m confused about how they had their mama get elderly and didn’t get proper insurance to cover everything!!! especially knowing she was a diabetic
I believe Uncle Pete already knew that his sister Jo passed on, he just doesn't wanna believe it. He wanna think about the good and not the bad that's why he ignored the fact that Sister Jo passed on.
I had a great grandma that had Alzheimer’s before she passed on. Her big brother and her little sister (all 3 made it to old age) went before she did. One day she pointed and said “look there go my brotha. There he is in the corner. He said he waiting on me.” At that point he was already in the ground for a week.
My daddy going through the same thing with Alzheimer’s. Can’t remember well, and sometimes confuses me with my older sister who is estranged. But I don’t stop loving him. He was always there for me, so now I gotta be there for him.
That's right! Our parents take care of us our whole lives but there comes a time where they can no longer take care of themselves... Now we have to take care of them... May God bless you and your family..
Remember Daddy used to raise hogs? Gut em, cure the cut up meat in brine, and and and and put em in the smokehouse for sausages. Mmmmm Mmmmm Mmmmm....(sad music) Daddy gone now....now u gotta take care of me Joe....
How ironic; Uncle Pete, who suffered from dementia represented the least capable member of the family. Yet, he uttered wisdom in a way that communicated the big picture to Maxine. In everyone else's world, everything was falling apart, but Pete was able to communicate that nothing was really changing at all. That this turmoil had been a part of life for generations. Then Maxine could see her role in that picture as the caretaker she always was. Maybe Big Mama was gone but she was now coming into her own. Brilliant scene!
Everytime when I think of the movie Soul Food, this scene always pops into my head. This scene is very heartbreaking. It's to see you loved ones suffering from a disease like that. Family is everything. Family always comes first.
Uncle Pete Look Like Arnold Johnson, Fletcher Thomas In Family Matters, Caine's Grandpa In Menace II Society, The Old Man Who Looked To Die In Good Times, Duck & JT's Father In The Five Heartbeats... Uncle Pete's Real Name Is John M. Watson Sr. He Was An Actor & Jazz Musician.

His sister in law (based on tv show)
Whenever Maxine said "She's Gone, She's Dead". It just really hit me the way that she said it with her voice breaking down. I felt that.
At that moment Maxine knew the torch was passed on to her
Yep & she made sure she carried that torch with honor
This scene is symbolism to the next generation stepping up to continue on...
Exactly
It was fitting for Max to find Uncle Pete first like she was assuming the role of Big Mamma 😁
Yes! She knew what she had to...
I agree
Teri: Being Selfish
Bird: Trying to focus on living a life with Lem
So yeah Maxine was the perfect choice she was SO nice and caring
@@RenegadeGunn Teri was being selfish?
@@Daikamaitachi let's see tried to sell Mama Joe's house tried to put Uncle Pete in a retirement home so what does tell you

Definitely
My Grandma has dementia and I don't look forward to the day she gets to this point. It's sad that they're lost in their past life.
I think uncle Pete was slow not demented. When he said Daddy gone so you got to take care of me. Pete was a rere
He knew that she was gone, even though he couldn’t process it, That presence was felt. I went through it In real life with my granny with dementia.
He'd gut'em and cure the cut up meat in brine 🤣 damn as a kid I laughed my ass off at that part. It was the way he said it of course 😂
Same here

He was also the old black dude who helped Dr Richard Kimble in The Fugitive.
If that were me, I would say "You want some takeout". To make catfish and all the work and cleaning put into it I don't think so.
Uncle Pete (Dwight Hill) Spider-Man Marvel

How did he know to come out the room? He had Alzheimer's or just senile?
Both, pretty much...my stepfather was the same way when he got Alzheimers...
Probably Alzheimer's my grandma has this and doesnt come out her room except to eat.
I also believe Mama Joe’s spirit brought him out of his room
So why was uncle Pete left at home by himself who was living with him?
Elementary
Well, if “uncle Pete”, would have got up and worked his ass off, he could have helped saved the dam house! Mf 😞
Wow you harsh!!! What if he had a mental disability asswhip ?
We don't know that he did or didn't.
