Apple Car Play On My Toyota Tacoma | Stinger Radio Head Unit Upgrade! • Apple Car Play On My T...
By far the cleanest looking and simplest install I have seen for a replacement radio for the JK! Been looking for something like this for a long time.
FYI do not put the mic near the window for road noise.. Put it near the rearview mirror or middle of the dash
Would love to hear how it goes removing the head unit once your GPS unit comes in - I neglected to add in the HDMI cable as well as test the steering controls... nervous to attempt the dismounting.
Love our Height10! Great video!
Bam!!! Some luis muiguel !!
Eso es!
3rd time watching…looked for a camera install, the rest was so simple/
Wish they made something for my GX460😢
Very nicely done. Thanks!
Great video very helpful thanks.
George, this is not radio related. That being said, been watching your videos and I do like what I've seen!! Question is regarding your JK, what headliner are you running?
1000x better !!!
What about the compass on the left side of the dash. After the install it was showing north all the time and now it's just two dashes - - Anyone encounter the same issue?
Is it waterproof? Seems hard to find one that is...
Did ur factory sub work? I didn't see it get connected
Does this retain the sound from the factory sub? I had an issue with a previous aftermarket radio where it made the sub sound horrid and no bass whatsoever
Questions. Just installed the fully intro grated option. My crossover and time correction pages are the only thing non functional ATM. Any suggestions what I did wrong?
If you have enabled “factory amp” in your advanced settings, then the cross over and time correction will be disabled. Disable factory amp option in the menu and it will make those clickable. HTH and good luck!
Will this fit perfectly in my 08 jeep wrangler
hey buddy george, check this out i have a tacoma and watched that video envious and wallet couldnt let me get a stinger for tacoma. anyway was just informed a few hours ago from my parents that his ram, same as your wifes jeep. radio is failing them. so besides wiring, which i dislike with a passion. anything i need to watch out for?
I just had a Stinger High10 installed in my 2015 JKU Saraha. Factory 730N RHR, Alpine system and Bluetooth UConnect. Now that the Stinger High10 is installed, the digital compass in the dash cluster no longer works and displays "- -" (not stuck on "N" like some I've heard of). I called AAmp (Stinger), they don't know why this happened and don't have any recommendations on how to fix. They said it may have something to do with losing UConnect, but aren't sure. Any ideas? Did you lose your dash cluster digital compass when you installed it?
any answer to this? does it affect the compass?
Mine still works. as far as I know of. Never paid attention to it.
Really nice but $1.5k for a radio is insane.
Lol There are some out there that cost even more.
@@jamesorsby7553 And there are some there much better for way less, Amazon is your friend.
Will this fit In a 2011 Jeep Wrangler?
The Stinger site says it's 2011-2018 JK.
No audio output or input?
For when you turn 100 and need the giant screen lol
That thing sticks out like a sore thumb. And $1500? Theres so many other options for a fraction of that price that look like factory standard.
I sent mine back the screen was to washed out and dim
Great video! I did the install this past weekend. Everything works except the rear speakers, what am I missing? My jeep has the subwoofer so I used the amplified connection. Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
@Because of two Jeeps Sounds like you missed plugging something in. Maybe? As I to have the factory Alpine sub, I plugged it into the "amplified" wire. Later to find out that I may have done it wrong. One Install video I watched said "If you have the factory amp mounted under the driver side dash (which is what I have) said to plug it into the NON-AMPLIFIED wire. With no explanation as to why. I did not feel like removing the whole thing to switch it. But all my speakers work and I have no glitches in anything. I can say that I am pleased that this is louder than the factory head unit. I have yet to upgrade the speakers.
How long would you say the USB replacement wiring is? I have heated seats wired to the cigarette lighter and can’t use this location to mount the USB so I’ll need to relocate it.
They are like 3-4 feet long. You have options. lol
Nice!
18:11 What is this stock yellow connector? I noticed it was unused at 11:50, as was mine when I did my recent install. What is antenna (best I can tell). But the yellow eludes me.
That’s the crossroad I’m at. I’m pretty sure that’s for XM radio which is what I’m trying to figure out right now but don’t know where to connect it
Are there different display options for the radio that can be downloaded?
You can add only three more display options.
The real question is how do you hook up the XM antenna to the radio 🥲 I got XM on android auto. But not on the radio interface itself
I would think you could upload the Sirius app and play it thru that
So what’s up with the steering wheel controls? Can you still answer the phone and what happens if you push the “VR” button on the steering wheel?
Yes everything works man
The green steering wheel button on mine does not work anymore I have to use the middle button and Google Assistant makes my calls plus the USB port in the dash does not charge anymore hardly it takes forever I'm talking like 5% an hour
Oh yeah and I got Android auto to work for about 3 minutes until it never worked again and this is all my 2018 JL Wrangler
Is there a separate volume control/settings for CarPlay music, navigation and Siri support voice? My wife wants this unit but I'm not getting it unless it has similar features to a Pioneer/Kenwood unit. Also does it support SiriusXM? The Navigation is a $150 option but do you have to pay for updates? Any firmware concerns or updates? Thank you for your time!
waze is free and better
@Chris Laidlaw yes there are separate volume controls. As far as I know you do not have to pay for updates. Check their website out for updates.
Does it work with the steering wheel radio control buttons?
Yes
Does this connect to the combus so that the steering wheel controls, and as well as stock Nav still work?
Steering wheel controls will. Navigation is part of your head unit so if you ever replace that your navigation will just be part of the new one. You can purchase the navigation software and chip for the stinger if you would like. Same thing goes for XM radio. The radio can run it but you have to purchase another XM receiver to hook up to this radio.
yes but you cant even use your iphone or android for roku netflix or any other streaming platform hell the apps on the screen is what it is your carplay apps on your phone are blocked nothing opens when the phone is connected
@@the-bu3lb I use my living room for that
@@the-bu3lb Are you plugged into the correct usb plug? Only one opens/operates from your phone. If one doesn't work, plug into the other one. Hope this helps you out bud.
Is this unit waterproof? I want to replace the stock radio/GPS that came in my 2015 Hard Rock Rubicon. However, I'm skeptical about the unit breaking down if exposed to rain for 30 minutes. My top is off all summer, and once or twice per year, I get caught in a storm. I have seen many videos of people stalling the Heigh10, but no one talks about if it will withstand exposure to the hot sun and possible rain for those that keep the top off. Thoughts?
Seriously doubt since the rest of the Jeep dash isn't waterproof. That's why people use bikini tops to block direct rain.
No it is NOT water proof or water resistant.
I’m just full of bad luck! My install hasn’t been “plug-and-play”
Where are you stuck at?
So on the trail with this we can connect to our Gaia gps app ?
If you install it, yes.
Looks like it's pretty laggy. They should really put a better CPU in that thing for the price they are asking....
Only thing laggy is the start up screen. And yes, IT IS ANNOYING. lol
So this thing does half the stuff a radio that cost half as less can do?
Like what exactly? Yes this radio is pricey. I am disappointed this doesn't have all the vehicle integration on the JK model as it does for the JL. Nowhere does STINGER tell you that either.
@@andypastore3299 also claims to put out 5v, when it actually only puts out 1.7v
Noticed a cut at 14:30, how difficult is the screen install? I've seen some reviews saying its hard to do.
Ama tell you my display install has been difficult those mounting brackets for those 4 screws don’t reach and if I push hard enough only one side “almost” grabs it’s terrible right now.
@@hersonvalle Agreed. Finally got mine secured with a lot of pressure. Stinger told me they are working on a new bracket for JKs.
@@charlietighe I ended up using some nuts as spacers i would have cracked the screen if I put the pressure I was putting on it
Thank you for this comment. It's 12:14 AM and I'm excited that I have everything hooked up but it is so far from being close to being able to mount to that bracket it's not even funny. I suppose I will remove the entire radio and put spacers in between the four 7 mm screws that held it on just to get it out far enough. How on Earth can they screw this up that bad?
I spoke to one of them and they said you have to put a lot of pressure on the screen
Not a very helpful video. But I prefer my kenwood over this one. Very helpful on the jl model but not the jk.
IS Lovely, but that Head Unit Prone to Stealing. MAN.
:o
The cost 😐
Way too much. The head unit is around $1500, Install kit around $220, and the offline navi sd card (optional) is $179. I got mine with the install kit (so it looks factory) and the Offline navi sd card for $1100 with free shipping. Had it in three days.
$$$$.$$
Gross
Does it fit a 2015 wrangler ?
The Stinger site says 2011-2018 JK
