Good video. Next one with artists suggest you include if possible: David Lloyd, Kevin O'Neil, Eduardo Barreto, Geoff Darrow, Mike Kaluta, Howard Chaykin, Jose Luis Garcia Lopez, Enki Bilal, Simon Bisley, Ian Gibson, Dave Stevens, Pual Chadwick, Tony DeZuniga.
Great video. I really enjoyed it, as all the other ones. I realise this is your list, and I agree with most of your choices, but leaving Sal Buscema out is just criminal, man. He was the quintessential Marvel artist, in my humble opinion, and he produced sooo much. The problem, I think, is that people constantly compare him (unfavourably) with his brother John, who was indeed the better artist, but that’s unfair. John Buscema was a better artist than most people on planet Earth, and the fact that they were brothers is irrelevant. (A few honourable mentions: Reed Crandall, Frank Thorne, Gray Morrow and Dave Cockrum.)
No Albert Uderzo? While Jije took over Tanguy et Lavadure it was Uderzo who established it as more than a George Wunder Terry and the Pirates clone. THEN there is Asterix.
I spent many years working on my own list. I'd say we're about 65% the same, which is fair enough. The omission of Jaime Hernandez is inexcusable though. And Mike McMahon
Wait... WHERE THE FUCK IS GARY FRANK????? Edit: 17:16 Nevermind, I was starting to get mad because he's almost never mentioned in this tops, and I can't believe some people even prefer Frank Quitely over him, like, really?, All of Quitely's faces look the same, his characters look uncanny to the point they seem like inbreed siblings!. Gary Frank on the other hand, should be assigned as the official Superman artist for the remainer of his lifetime, he's just awesome!
@@comicbelief He's my absolute favorite!, even more than Alex Ross (Alex's Superman doesn't look enough like Christopher Reeve, so it's kinda personal...). My only issue with Gary would be that his women and girl characters all look too similar, like they are always related to Megan Fox (particularly his Lane Looks like an untanned Megan Fox, xD).
I think it's a personal taste. I would have include Guido Crepax, Joe Benitez, Jaime Hernandez, Frank Cho, Dave Stevens, Bill Watterson ( well he is more of a comic strip guy, but as great as any). Great list altought.
An initial version of the list included Waterson, Cho and other artists from strips. In the end, I decided against it, because I would be comparing very different styles. Not that the list doesn’t do that anyway.
I’ve started writing down names… I ended up with a list of 250 names for a top 100… it was one of my toughest videos so far, but I just couldn’t include everyone I wanted
I’ve also wanted to present the full range of time, which is why I’ve included relatively new artists, while excluding more classic choices. This was my hardest list to date.
@@centricthemedic1517 there’s probably a “100 more artists” video coming up. I did have a similar process, although a writers list was more straightforward. It’s simpler for me to judge good writing than artwork. I can only appreciate the art as expectador and there are any number of technical details that I don’t pay proper attention to.
My top 10 favorite comic book artists 1. George Perez 2. Greg Capullo 3. Jerry Ordway 4. Frank Miller 5. Todd MacFarlane 6. Jim Lee 7. Ivan Reis 8. Ethan Van Sciver 9. Jack Kirby 10. Ryan Stegman
If skill was the only criteria, then yes, possibly. I’ve tried to consider legacy, influence, body of work… I’ve also wanted to present the full range of time, which is why I’ve included relatively new artists, while excluding more classic choices. This was my hardest list to date.
No Frank Bellamy? Maybe next time? And no inclusion of Kevin O'Neil? I was in an exhibition and my work was just round the corner from Bellamy. Yikes! The Bellamy estate specified that his work should be behind glass and bolted to the wall! Bolland and O'Neil were there too, not bolted to the wall. This was back in 1982. What happened to me? I ended up being a sole bloody carer. So much for my career! Pissed off? You bet!

This list is ridiculous. Most of the cartoonists here are great artists, but some comic geniuses are missing, especially French, South American and Italian. Alberto Breccia and Sergio Toppi are not here! In general there are too many American cartoonists, many of whom are considered great only because their characters are famous. I'm sorry to say it, but this list was made by very ignorant people.
This list is a disgrace! It completely ignores world class cartoonist in favour of some random schmuck! Where is Franquinn? Eisner? Deleuran? Caza? Don Rosa? Or even.. Disney!?
That’s why you should never comment on a video without watching it first. Since Eisner (0:30) and Don Rosa (13:17) are in there. I just assume that the mention of Disney was a joke, since this is a list of artists, not businessmen.
This a great reference for picking artists for my breakdown vids. Thanks for making it!

Wally Wood not in the top ten is akin to blasphemy.

Steve Rude was there
Im betting Jorge Jimenez will be on here if you do another list in a few years
He came very close to getting on this one.

I am amazed that Cho and Stevens aren't here. Crepax is incredible.

Kirby being number 1# is a joke, and the fact that Katsuhiro Otomo, Moebius, and Akira Toriyama aren't in the Top 10 is f*cking criminal.

What does the word KING mean, NUFF SAID!
There’s a lot of artists from back then that worked on the tales from the crypt and eerie, creepy all that that were better than Kirby in my opinion
Jim Lee

Gil was there. 👍
Faz um video sobre roteiristas e um sobre mangá
haven't you put too many manga artist on this list
There are about 5 manga artists and about 70 American superhero artists, but it's the manga artists that are the problem? Sorry, what?
@ 5 manga artist that doesn’t belong in the comics genre ,you could have find 5 others comics artist
@@blazerMaN57 Manga are literally comics. It's just the Japanese word for comics
