Worked like a charm! I loved your instructions and especially the part about cleaning the filter. I had never done this and it needed to be done. Very very helpful and saved me a phone call and money to a plumber. ❤️❤️
Now if you can do a how to video about changing the light in a KitchAid oven and microwave combo unit I might just think about marrying you! 😉. Whoever designed this unit needs to be thrashed 😂
Thanks for the video man. My MIL Bosch decided to e24 yesterday and we thought we’d need a repair guy. Instead I’m the hero who watched your video and repaired the dishwasher earning me points with her. Thank you!
Thank you for that drain trick! I almost paid an online person to walk me through but did one more search and found you! My dishwasher stopped working after a few minutes and the light started blinking. Each time I went in, rearranged the dishes to see if something was blocking someone, fixing it and starting the cycle again, more water was building up in the bottom. I used your trick for draining, cleaned the filter and garbage disposal and tried again and it's working! So far... We will see if it finishes the cycle this time but it's already longer than previous attempts.
This worked for me! I don’t have a garbage disposal so the first time it didn’t work, and after trying another tutorial I came back to this one and decided to add baking soda and vinegar along with the dawn to attempt to force a clog out, before the boiling water and it worked! It let it sit and foam for about a minute before I added the boiling water. Just a tip for those without a disposal. This is an excellent video, thank you so much!
First of all, I despise any kind of manual labor and cannot figure out any instructions in putting things together or fixing them. My dishwasher wouldn't drain. Your video was the first one I found and it worked like a charm! Thanks for making the video so easy to understand 😊
We just bought our first home and kept having drainage issues with the dishwasher and we are tight on money as a young couple. You saved us money and gave us knowledge. Thanks a lot!
I spent almost all day trying to figure out why my Bosch dishwasher wouldn't drain or complete the cycle. The trick with the soap and boiling water down the disposal seemed to turn the tide. Thank you!
Wow, this worked! Like some others here I don't have a garbage disposal, but at that step I added baking soda and vinegar, then flushed with the boiling water and voila... my Bosch drained after that. So happy, thank you!!!
My machine has tends to get locked into a certain cleaning mode from time to time. Took me several attempts before I could perform the drain function. Which is a God send sir... glad to know that is available.
Thanks very much for the helpful tips. My Bosch dishwasher was purchased in 2012 (Model SHX68R55UC) and it does not have a Start/Resume button. I had to press the On/Off button to start a full dishwashing cycle, close the door, immediately open the door again after the cycle starts, and then press and hold the Auto and Normal buttons for three seconds. Once I closed the door, the drain cycle started and ran for one minute as you show in your video.
I also tried your fix with the hot water down the sink and that fixed the backed up water in my 2 yo Bosch dishwasher. Thank you for taking the time to make this video.
Great video Followed your instructions and cleared the drain I also cleared the “overflow “ spout (I used an empty paper towel tube, attached it to the overflow spout, held it at the base to seal it and blew thru the top). Stuff came out at the garbage disposal so I believe that was also clogged Thank you so much for your help!
Worked well. I was skeptical at first, because nothing happened after I added a pot of boiling water, but after I filled the sink up with water it worked.
@user-jl2iw5hz4e you're more than welcome! Would you mind subscribing to my channel? After years of making videos I am so close to making it to my first 100K subscribers!
Excellent video. You fixed my problem. I actually had 3 problems and your video addressed all 3 of the issues. Your video is long and tedious, but boy did I benefit from it. Thank you.
Was a little worried because I had to go all the way to the boiling hot water step. What a lovely sound to hear the water drain out of the dishwasher! Thank you so much!
I tried all of your ideas twice and no luck. However, I scrolled down and about comment 50 or so someone recommended removing the drain hose from the garbage disposal and blowing air (using an air compressor) back towards the dishwasher. I took about 15 seconds (so you could tell it was clogged) and BOOM, the clog was no more. I will say I still used your recommendations to remove and clean the filter (it was nasty), and I am very sure the 2 doses of hot soapy water removed a lot of cr@p in the sink/disposal/drain. Thank you!
@DanMilligan-n6b Thanks for sharing your experience! I’m glad you found a solution with the air compressor method. It’s amazing how a little air can clear up a clog! And yes, cleaning the filter is crucial for maintenance!
Thanks for this video - it lead me to the solution. In my case I removed the drain hose from the sink tailpiece and found a piece of glass blocking the flow. So much easier than taking apart the DW!
Normally for me it's a gunky impeller that is the culprit. This time no error code meant I was bamboozled. Not sure what step worked (cleaning/descale filter) or boiling water in sink drain but it worked. Thanks a million.
This is a great video. Thank you for posting it. I did not know about pressing the start button to make the water drain out. I could see water in there when I removed the filter, and after doing this, the water was gone.
Thanks! Started with cleaning the filter ( before consulting with RUclips) then cleaned the sink drain. Tried to drain the d.w. still only groaning coming from pump so, I removed the water by cup and soaked up the last of the water w/towel to ensure it was empty of debris then poured very hot water into the bottom of d.w. still nothing came up so I ran drain cycle again and presto, voilà and a band started playing! Lol In actuality it drained, i started the washer, it groaned, I groaned and then it righted itself! Thank you so so much!
THANK YOU for sharing this! I had a little piece of paper (?) stuck in the filter drain! I actually had water leaking out from the bottom of the dishwasher before watching your video.
You failed to mention another common cause of them not draining, and that is that the flexible drain hose may be plugged (this was the case for me recently). You remove the hose from where it attaches under the sink, and then blow on it as hard as you can. If you cannot move the air, you have a plug. What I did was to use a small compressor with an air nozzle, and a bicycle bar-end plug with a hole in it, stuck that into the end of the hose and stuck the air nozzle into that and blew the debris back into the standing water in the DW. I then cleaned all that dirty water out, replaced the filter and it now works like a charm.
You definitely should be able to blow in that hose once it’s disconnected from the sink plumbing. Another item to check is the impeller. Make sure nothing is stuck in it and it is able to spin freely
This comment helped me. My dishwasher doesn't drain under the sink. It drains into a line that is connected to the larger line that leads to the septic tank. Blowing out the hose with a compressor will free it up, but it clogs again after a washing or two. I'm so sick of pulling the dishwasher out from under the counter and bringing in my compressor. I am probably going to have to snake out the line under the house. Also, my Bosch dishwasher is a different model, and I haven't been able to figure out how to do the 0:01 drain function.
Using a small hand-held air pump worked! Wow! I was gonna have my wife call me Super Mario, but now error 15 came up… so to more researching. Thanks for the help!
Thank you so much!! My husband travels for work all the time, so I'm having to learn how to do these things on my own. I've cleaned the filter before, but the area below that was disgusting!! Excellent video especially since I needed to see some piece of plastic - the gray one in the bottom got that sucker re-installed plus helping with cleaning, vinegar to clean filter
Brilliant! I cleaned the filter and the reset still wasn't draining. I thought I was in for a long weekend but instead all I had to do was wait for the pot of water to boil and problem solved. Thank you!!!
This is SO helpful! Very very clear and good paced instructions! I just cleaned my filter which was due to be replaced a couple of months ago according to Bosch, and hold 3 seconds and voila a! I heard the draining sound! I did a couple of times that and all the water is gone. I put the cleaned filter back in and keeping fingers crossed it will work as normal when I turn it on next time! I think the hot water+disposal is going to help in general too!
Thanks for the helpful video. I found my problem was a blockage where the drain hoses fits over the plumbing. I ran the rise cycle into a bucket to rule out the dishwasher. Cleaned the plumbing fixture and everything is now clear from blockage.
This worked, thanks. Cleaning the arms that spin is also a good idea while you're at it. They come off and I found there was debris in there, easiest was to run it under the sink and you'll likely see debris sticking out of some of the holes, use small tweezers if need be.
Man - thank you so much. I have a slightly different model but worked pretty much the same. Really appreciate you taking time out to do this likely saved us all a few hundred bucks. Happy to venmo you a tip :)

Your video was quite helpful in getting the water to pump out on the first try; however after running a short cycle, now it is trying to pump out every 60 seconds, Non stop. Any suggestions?
If the safety clip in the drain hole in front of the little white spinning part isn’t there would that be stopping the machine from draining Cause iv followed your instructions and I’m not having luck but I am missing a part it seems
