Thank you! It worked. I remove a small square piece of glass from the bottom of the dishwasher and I had to vacuum and remove that white part and then I ran a rinse cycle and all the water drained. I have a Bosch too and love it. I think my dishwasher stopped so the glass won't damage the suction part. I only watched the first 4 minutes and my neighbor and I got it fixed! Thanks and thank you Jesus!

Thanks for taking the trouble to share your experience. I could have done most of the easy things (sump clear and drain spigot clear) myself but it was your video that gave me the idea of connecting the vacuum cleaner hose drain hose to the drain hose under the sink. I was relieved to hear the "wuck" sound as a plug of dirt, including a fragment of broken plate, hit the inside of the vacuum cleaner tank. Then it was just a matter of flushing, cleaning and reassembling. All well now - household calm restored.

Great video. I followed similar process and cleared the E24 error by cleaning out the drainage path in the water matrix. Then got E15 leak error. Turned out I'd missed replacing the large washer on the larger of the grey inlets to the main compartment. It had dropped into the tray under the machine.
    Fixed that.
Machine worked for a couple of days then went back to E24. This time I emptied the drain hose u bend in situ, ran a cycle to the point when the E24 error kicked in, drained the bottom of the main compartment with a sponge, then repeated. Although the machine was empty of dishes the water was quite greasy first couple of times so I guess this was causing a blockage or straining the pump. Eventually it completed a cycle.
To finish I ran a few drain only cycles, pouring a litre of water with a bit of washing up liquid into the main compartment each time. (Plenty of videos on this but basiicaly start a programme then hold rh button down for a few seconds.)
Also checked and cleaned the outside drain which everything goes into in case that was backing up.
If I did it again I'd probably start by doing the above before taking it apart. Can't claim any special expertise.
It's been a week so fingers crossed!

Some folks are getting the E24 error even if the dishwasher drains properly (as verified using the auto-drain feature that you demonstrate early in the video). There is no water in the dishwasher when we get the E24 error (about two and half minutes into the wash cycle). I added water and used the auto-drain feature (after pressing Start, press Start again and hold it for several seconds) to confirm that the dishwasher drains properly. In this case, the workaround to overcome the E24 error is to open and close the dishwasher door just after one minute into the wash cycle. I suppose it might be a control panel fault that causes this variant of the E24 error, but I'm not planning on spending money to replace the control board if this workaround continues to solve the issue. My wife and I are thrilled to have a working dishwasher again!

Tnx for sharing this great video! My Siemens also gave E24, but I could hear the pump still working, so I knew something was wrong further down the drain. The draining pipe was almost fully clogged. Following your video to disassemble the machine and clean the draining pipe from two sides using hot water worked perfectly! Tnx! This is awesome! We called Bosch service to check out our machine as we had no interest in replacing it. I was working from home but had to take a call so I missed this fix on our machine. Yes $200 but far less than a new machine. And we scrape the plates more thoroughly as the machine is 12 years old

I have a similar problem but the machine displays E25 code. Also, my machine will still drain about 1 try out of every 10, so it is not completely blocked. After watching your video I now understand the problem and have tried to fix by pouring boiling water and vinegar into the bottom of the machine and then cycling it on and off until it eventually drains. After repeating this process a few times it now seems to drain every time. I wouldn't have thought to do this without the information you kindly shared, so a big thanks for sharing your experience.

Funny thing, as I was preparing my attack on my machine, all pumped up from watching your experiences, I went back to the machine and the E24 code did not return after starting it again. Also, my machine didn't have any of the standing water yours did on the bottom. I had just fixed an E15 code earlier in the morning so I don't know if I jiggled something that should not have been jiggled or something else happened. Oh well. It is what it is. Thank you for making this detailed video and explaining carefully the steps you took. It makes it somewhat easier to understand the dynamics of what the Bosch is needing to run correctly. We're hoping that this first E-24 error is just a cleaning of the first filter and removal of the cover plate to check the impeller for free turning is the issue. If not then we can follow through with the next steps you detailed.

Major job to do. In hine site I think you could have only removed the white and yellowish tubes at the bottom and do a similar cleaning procedure as you did. But anyhow a big repair job to do. I do not know how old the machine is or how frequently it was used, but keeping these lines clean seems to be very important. Perhaps running a sort of cleaning cycle from time to time using a proper degreaser could prevent clogging in the future.

    • @mr_fix
      @mr_fix  Год назад

My best advice would be to always rinse the dishes before putting it into the machine. I’ve only used dishwashing tablets from major brands, whom all advertise saying their product is fantastic, as you don’t need to rinse the dishes before washing in the machine. BS unless you enjoy buying a new dishwasher every now and then. 😂

Thank you, your guide helped me understand how to remove the filter for the drain pump. My issue was E:24 and noise from the drain pump. I tried to feel around with my fingers but i didn’t feel anything strange in there. So I took a small metal wire and poked around in there and suddenly I could feel and hear something under then impeller. It was a quite big piece of glass so I tried to remove it with out luck. So I then decided to take a screwdriver and smash it to smaller pieces. I then filled up the machine with 1,5 L water and ran a drain without the drain pump cover attached, that made the small glass pieces to fly out in the little filter basin. I could then carefully pick them up. And now it runs fine again.

I have a bosch dishwasher with error-24 and cleaned out the drain 3 times with still the error. I've been by-passing it for over 3 years now by doing this: turn on the dishwasher on/off button, start the dishwasher, then listen for the 3rd start sound(water), which happens at about the 2:18 time. When you hear it start for the 3rd time, open and close the door and press start. It then runs the whole cycle with no error and I don't have a drain problem.

  • @PaulBostwick
    @PaulBostwick 3 года назад +1

At 2:30 is the plastic thing that (I'm guessing) helps prevent big things from jamming the sump pump. I cannot be certain that my fix was there but after one cleaning where I removed a rubber band from the pump impeller and put it back to together I think I miss-installed the white plastic bit because the sump would not pump after that "repair"... The pump runs as an early stage in most cycles. So I'd cancel out when I heard the unfamiliar sound and no rushing water... When I pulled the whole unit out (intending to replace the sump pump) and began the dis assembly I found the white guard thing very hard to remove, which was odd. So I continued forward to clear the exhaust lines, air gap (US element) and the tube from there to the disposal... and food and such came out there too... thus the doubt... But I put the white thing back and tried running it as a test before installing the pump and it worked. No need for the pump I ordered (and can return since I did not open or install it!). I'll keep the pump for a few days just incase but 5 cycles or so and no E24 errors!
Hot tip: Do take a moment to bring the racks outside and hose/brush off the detergent grit in the wheel assemblies and such in back! Really satisfying to have it back in the game.
    Thanks again.

Great video, however I did notice one aspect of your installation that doesn't seem to match what the Manual said was required for mine. There was a hanger on the back of the DW where the drain hose had to be higher than. whether that is by leaving the hanger on the Dishwasher or by moving it to the underside of the cabinet. Either way that seems to be missing from your installation and may be contributing to your issue? I don't' know I am not a dishwasherologist or anything, just something I noticed.

We are professionals. Right idea but wrong method. The dishwasher needs cleaning too.
You have a plumbing issue you created, NOT a Dishwasher issue. Plus you are not pre-rinsing your dishes of large food waste. On top of the sink is silver Aerator. Aerators are designed to add air and cog on purpose to prevent expensive pump damage. Aerator are an intentional 180° restriction in the drain line. This is an operators misuse problem. This goes for ALL dishwashers
No need to go under the sink.
    1. Remove all dishes, soap, rinse aid and racks from Dishwasher.
    2. With gloves on, remove the filter and screen
    3. With a wet Vac and 1.25 dia. hose, Suck up all the standing water. Large Diameter hose will not work. Also check under the door and by the hinges for debris.
    4. Remove the silver cap of the Aerator. Use a screwdriver to pop our the inner deflector cap.
    5. Place hose over Aerator and turn on Wet vac. Make a good seal with a wet towel around the hose.
    6. Reassemble Aerator.
    7. Turn on dishwasher as is without filter, Run a clean hot water only cycle. Heated dry off.
    8. While that is running, Clean your filter.
    9. When cycle is finished install the filter.
    10. FROM NOW ON 1-3 times week Run a clean hot water only cycle. the dishwasher needs cleaning too.
Suggest you buy an extra filter. One to use and one to clean.
Daily Wipe door seals and door frame and under door. Remove all debris.
If you have a smell. It is mold. Empty Dishwasher. Clean the filter. Run one gallon of 100% Clorox bleach added to a clean hot water only cycle. Then run another clean hot water only cycle to eliminate the bleach. this should not need to be done more than twice a year
LEAVE THE DOOR OPEN a crack, when not in use, to prevent mold.
If you have hard water, even with a water softener, Once a month every month, With a clean filter and Empty Dishwasher, run one gallon of 10% white Vinegar added to a clean hot water only cycle. No need to rinse.
This is how you properly maintain a dishwasher and prevent repairs.

In a perfect world anyone can maintain a dishwasher in perfect condition, especially if you don’t have three teenagers at home that don’t give a rats ass about rinsing the dishes before putting it into the machine :-).
It’s great to know that there are professionals out there 🙏🏻

With all tools and appliances all users require instruction.
"This is the right way and this is the wrong way...."
      I feel your pain.
Be patient, Sit you teenager's down and give the proper instructions on how to operate The dishwasher then them a choice.
Pre-rinse the dishes before placing in the dishwasher or they will do the dishes themselves. If they do not do the dishes they do not eat.
I have six children, if instructed properly in any task and given [proper motivation any problem can be overcome.
Just yelling, at teenager's in particular, usually fails to get the point across.

After checking that my pump impeller wasn’t stuck or clogged, I decided to use my compressor to gently blow air through the drain hose in the direction of the sink to the washer. It blew out some smelly water, and got rid of my error code.

I'm sorry, as I see it your big problem is food collecting in the machine drainage system and drying. I see the problem being the drainage pump stopping from time to time and a collection of water causes the E-24 error. I pull the hose from the air gap, plug that holes into my wet dry vac and use a rag to create a tight connection. Turn on the vac and it drains the access water from the system. Error message is gone for the time being. When I drain this water their are no food particles in the wet-dry vac because I do a quick dish rinse. My next dishwasher will not be a Bosch !

Agreed. My dishwasher has gotten E24 for years. The first time I spent a ton of money just to have it not fixed. Then I got in there and found a metal twist tie caught in the impeller. I've picked other things out too. Why the h isn't there a screen to prevent anything too large from getting to the pump impeller. Why is the pump so underpowered that it can't overcome little things? Why do the Bosch dishwashers come so highly recommended? I will take the tips here and ONCE AGAIN dissemble the whole dang thing to see what is in there.
BTW, an easier way to tell if the drain is blocked: Pour in 1 quart of water, reset the machine and start it. Look in the disposer or wherever the water goes and see and hear the water pumping out. Usually if you get E24 you will notice that there is no water pumping out. My problem this time is that it is pumping out but still gets E24. It seems to try twice. On the second try, there is no water left, so is that why it gets E24. What a mess.
