My personality ENFJ literally describes me. Of course some facts have to be a bit off so I don’t take it really seriously, but I do like the idea of the types. It was easier for me to understand myself.

As an INFJ, I’ve definitely made mental notes on people who have invalidated my emotions and have never disclosed anything personal about myself again. Seems like INFJs are very cautious about who they choose to vent to or seek advice from.

As an INFJ, I can be empathetic. But when it's my turn to express how I feel or vent, some people would be physically there but not really willing to lend an ear. It hurts sometimes that we don't get the same amount of sympathy at least. And when I don't open up, I am told that I am too distant or indifferent. I feel like I don't belong in this "dimension" or something. And yeah, telling INFJs that they're too sensitive is that red button that must not be pushed.

If I say I have a headache, he has to say he's had a migraine for 2 days, that my headache is nothing (just an example, not a real situation). “You should be ashamed” that one really pisses me off. No one is more critical of me than myself, so when more people attempt to keep adding on top of it, I just disconnect from the conversation and stop listening to the conversation. Also, “you’re too sensitive” does it for me too.I’ve always thought there was something wrong with me, but am I’m learning a lot about myself now than anything my parents ever taught me. This is all so true, as an INFJ the “you should be more practical” is so true for me. I’ll admit I daydream and dream a lot, I have HUGE imaginations, some people think I’m weird for that, and also the “I’m too sensitive” is also very true. I had therapy for 6 months before, to atleast defend myself now. And I’ve had people tell me they had it “way more worse then me” mostly when I was in middle school, this is also another reason why I WAS introverted and I lacked the confidence and courage to speak up for 3 whole years. Now I’m just getting my life on track, being an INFJ certainly doesn’t make me feel special at all, honestly I wished to change myself before, but a few people have taught me to accept the way I am.
So please to whoever is an INFJ, If this is happening to you in your life, make sure to always be positive and don’t let other people’s opinion matter to you if they do say something bad to you. ^^ ♥️

Very true friend. Im an ENFP and my best friend and hopefully future girlfriend (an infj as well) and I always try to understand each other. Dont be afraid to walk away if someone is unwilling to communicate. Altho dont be complacent and disloyal either (not at all implying you were, simply stating a principle). Ive found this saying to be true, "understand, then be understood". Sometimes that means walking away because people have work to do on themselves. Find someone who doesnt attack you for being you. I think about a scripture actually, "showing them honor as to weaker vessels" (refering to women in general). It was refering to alabaster jars, perfume jars from egypt, because they were precious and extraordinarily valuable, but also delicate, and to be treated with care :) Hope you find the man who can understand that :)

Because old souls are encompassing of both INFJ's and ENFJ's. They also delve in great depth, all social, natural/physical, and mental constructs. Thats because they have tapped into the history that preceded them. I am far happier and subdued in knowing that I am an old soul.

This is why I have issues with accountability and apologizing; I know when I'm wrong, and if I'm not, I won't say sorry for something I'm not guilty of. That doesn't stop people from trying to guilt-trip me, but hopefully one day they'll catch on to the fact that I'm not playing their games.

If someone tries to tell me that they've had it worse than me, my first response would likely be to call their bluff. No one who's ever truly suffered would use that experience to one-up others and shame them for feeling bad about a situation that they likely have every right to be upset about. Instead, they would be empathetic and humble because they understand what it's like to be invalidated and wouldn't wish that upon others. People who lack empathy have never had to lift a finger to get respect, so they don't get to go on a soapbox rant about how much wrong the world has done to them when that's never been the case.

you know... some people just want to put you down. I mentioned my brother up there and I'm sorry but I have to use him as an example again. When telling to him I had been molested by a family friend when I was a child... his response? "He didn't do it just to you, he did it to another girl I know as well". So there you have it, it's not necessarily their suffering that comes into play, they just have to make you feel like your problems are smaller than anybody else's.

    • @kovenmaitreya7184
      @kovenmaitreya7184 2 года назад

Actually... lots of people use their own suffering as a justification to inflict suffering on others or to put them down / elevate themselves. They may use it to try to garner sympathy or use it to invalidate. It's a common tactic of narcissts. I've done a lot of studying on people opposite from us empathic folks.... A precursor of clinical narcissism is actually intense suffering that's unable to be overcome.

As an INFJ, it can be hard when you challenge yourself to open to someone you really love and then they brutally invalidate your emotions.
It's not like you cannot speak to that person again, you still love them and need them in your life, but you start to doubt your love, and that's really scary. And you become even more closed in general.
The best thing to do is to continue to make an effort and try a different approach to share your feelings. But the pain is still very present, and can last for quite some time.
But we just need to learn to forgive them and yourself

I've been invalidated by these kind of statements by family, "friends", bullies, coworker... several people. Really grinds my gears. That frustration and anger often stems from fear that the person is right and I'm disappointing others. Turns into a lot of sadness and feelings of shame. But I'm working on it.

Due to this I developed BPD and now struggling with my emotions and life feeling very lonely. Even the therapists I visited used few of these phrases which did hurt me a lot. I am slowly learning that I can't control what people say or do and if they choose cruelty over empathy it clearly defines who they are and not who I am. Though it hurts when it comes from people you are close with. Also trying to control people never helps. INFJs are magnets for ASPDs so watch out. Take care of your mental health.

As an Infj this video really hits home because I don’t want to hear ‘Here’s some advice’ ever. Just the other day for example I was telling my friend that I m how I m so sick and can’t breathe and couldn’t sleep whole night because of it made this bag by myself and I m thinking of doing this and she’d go like “no you should get up and take walk.” You don’t understand that I can’t I k sick for god’s sake. I can’t move my body. Maybe your body works different when its sick. But mine doesn’t even let me eat something. I totally understand how she just wanted the best for me. But All I wanted was for her to hear that I m not okay like make me scream and complain for once in a while. I didn’t want to hear what I should do I can’t do that’s the reason I m telling you this. And also the “I’ve had it worse than you” feels so condescending like okay maybe but can I have this moment to myself. I feel tired for always having it in and never letting it out. Can I have this moment to feel how utterly broken I am not how you are more broken than me. It always feels like I m giving my ear to everybody when they want it but never getting that in return. And honestly it’s exhausting.

Can you do a video with the different types of INFJs ?
There are many INFJs that are mistyped with other mbtis like INFP, INTP, ISTJ
For being a "rare mbti" many people who are really INFJs end up not believing and taking other MBTIs.

Idk, but I took the test twice, once I got ISFP and the other time I got INFJ, I don't what am I. But what they mentioned here applies to me to a hell of a level. Except that I myself say "let's wing it" when it isn't something that would end up in serious consequences

@@valis3363 I had the same thing, for a long time I thought I was an INFP until I found out that I was actually a 4w5 INFJ and that's why I got confused for so long, for you to be absolutely sure of your MBTI, it's better take the ennagram test too.

Saying "it's okay, don't be sad, my experience is worse than yours" is like saying "don't be happy, 'cause happier than you"

I do not agree with the 'Here's some advice.' part of this video.
Each person has their own way of comforting a person. Just because a person gives you their advice/solution, it doesn't mean they don't care about you. They CARE about you and wanted to help no matter what. Showing empathetic signs aren't their language in comforting someone.
Remember, if someone gives you advice, do not feel sad about it. They care for you very deeply in their hearts and are trying their best to make you feel better.

i agree. like i know that it's hard on anyone having to deal with an INFJ. i can't fault them if they don't know the magic way to "fix" me, since it's not their fault i'm upset, usually. it does get sad though, since we are so sensitive, people around us start to care less and do less and less to cheer us up because they start to see there's no changing us and we're gonna be sad again tomorrow anyway. lol

It feels really comforting seeing these videos and feeling understood as an INFJ. It’s really Eye-opening and relatable. I can really relate to the perfectionism stuff, especially since it’s really intensive at times, to the point where a small part of me is stressing over making this comment good.

Hey if you have a crush and they like you back, but then you loose all feelings for them, what could be the reason for that?

Could be that he/she did something incompatible with you, small talks a lot, likes things you dont, her/his mind isnt capable of understanding you, there could be a lot of options (assuming you are INFJ).
The intentions could also be incorrect...

@Oliver Erz I'm INFJ myself, and those i mentioned are usually the issues we face for having a rather complex mind. It's hard to find someone that can fully understand us because our inner world is uh... Strange... to say the least. So, if we see signs of small talk or simple minded people, we tend to get bored and/or lose all interest.
In my case, only one person manages to understand my inner world, and she is INFP :)

I feel like sometimes i'm INFJ-T and INTJ. I just like alone, but i love socialize in small circle group that have good impact to each other. If that person too negative, INFJ will cut you forever. We don't like toxic people!
