- GP Dr Michael Mosley was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes four years ago and rather than start on medication - he invented the 5:2 diet - resulting in him losing weight and reversing his diabetes diagnosis. Dr Mosley will be telling us how you can do the same on a similar diet.

I was diagnosed with prediabetes - 114 mg/dl. I stopped eating dinner after 6 pm, nothing at all. Also, I started a 30-minute walk every night. It helped me to get my blood glucose levels to 93 mg/dl. Working to get it to 85.
someone with prediabetes what did you eat like Carbs etc
I told my mom a few years ago about this doctor's success story. My mom was diagnosed with prediabetes -> type 2 diabetes. One day she was not feeling well, presented to A&E and her blood sugar was 12! After that incident, she was adamant to try intermittent fasting. To everyone's surprise, not only she managed to bring her blood glucose back to Normal, her HbA1C now is also at Normal range, plus she is slimmer & much more fit that before. She is 66 y.old this year (around the same age as Dr. Mosely) but she has 10 children and 10 grandchildren! I have not get a chance to say thank you to Dr. Mosely for sharing such method which could improve peoples' health & wellbeing. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Mosely's wife. Please know that his good work doesn't go unnoticed!
He was so passionate about health and helping others be aware of their own health and change their habits to improve it and he died in the heat on a walk even younger than the age his father passed away … so so sad and such a great loss
It's not weight loss (though it helps), it's carbohydrate restriction. I reversed my type 2 diabetes well before I lost the weight.
How tell me plz
@@patrickgalaxy9913Hi I am also on diet and I am severely constipated. Are you also constipated?
Impossible. You'd lose weight before you fixed type 2.
@@andyegloso774 yes, you would lose weight. However, weight isn't the issue and my point is that I was still significantly overweight when I reversed my type 2 diabetes. So I absolutely did fix my diabetes before I lost any significant amount of weight.
Exactly
Yep I lost 20 kls and diabetes. Weight is the problem. True video 😊
That's false. Its part of it but just bc your slim doesn't mean your healthy. Ppl who smoke cigarettes and do drugs are slim yet they have bad livers etc... and aren't healthy in the inside. Js 🤷🏾♂️
@@taesavage1191 Thats true im slim and i dont even smoke drink or do any drugs but im prediabetic :E i dont even think i have bad liver either
I've read a lot of the research on this subject and he is indeed correct. There have been a few studies but the largest one was based in the UK and it found that when pre-diabetic people lost 10-13% of their body weight something like 80% who maintained the weight loss and lifestyle changes never developed diabetes. They went on to hypothesize that every person has a certain threshold of body fat, particularly around the pancreas and when their body fat rises above that level the pancreas stops working properly and diabetes is the result so by losing enough weight to lower that internal fat below the threshold will cause the pancreas to start working properly again.
A few other studies have shown that exercise after a meal can significantly lower the blood glucose level. In particular, it seem to have a better effect when you waited 20-30 minutes before exercising. Further, it does not have to be a lot of exercise and it was suggested that exercising 3 times a day after each meal for just 10 minutes could have a significant impact. There are several reasons for this but one reason is that muscles can use glucose directly without the need for insulin so if you're exercising and using muscles they will essentially feed on the glucose.
If you combine these to lower your weight and get enough exercise, you should be able to reverse your diabetes.
Living with diabetes has been a lifelong journey for me. I tried numerous methods and therapies, and there were moments when I almost gave up hope. However, after discovering the herbal medicine from Dr.ubarlo, my life took an unexpected turn. In just 4 months,
Always weight what about huge number of diabetics that are not overweight??????
@@johnheredia5660 sounds like you are more interested in clinging to views that reinforce your biases. You speak of "huge numbers" of diabetics that are not overweight but that is not supported by the data. According to the CDC "89.8% were overweight or had obesity". The evidence is very clear that those who exercise regularly and are not overweight rarely develop diabetes.
The studies done by the pharmaceutical company's showed they were not earning massive amounts of money so they moved all the limits.used to be 4.3 to 7.8
@@franktheman963 there is no evidence to support that claim. The mere fact that it was lowered does not in any way support your claim. Studies showed that even at lower levels like 6.5 a person was at a much higher risk and experience the same symptoms as those at 7.8 so they lowered the threshold. It's always been a sliding scale.
Diet and sedentary lifestyle play a role, but there is also a genetic component to type 2 diabetes; and even the guy in the video says his father was also a diabetic. I "reversed" the type 2 diabetes; went from A1C 10 to 5.1; cut out all the processed sugar, deep fried food, junk food, etc. I eat less, eat right, and walk two-five miles everyday. Everyone is different though; you have to find the diet that's right for you and the form of exercise that you enjoy. As they say, weight loss helps a lot., as well as finding ways to manage stress; and I went from 225 to 148 pounds. The big thing is the blood sugar/glucose monitor; do it twice a day at least (even if you think you don't have to) so you can see what works and what doesn't; in your own particular case. If you can do keto, or the Mediterranean, or that all-meat diet and live with it for the rest of your life and it's working for you then have at it and good luck eating the same things over and over again; but for me it's simple: chicken, fish and turkey, low on the carbs (and natural carbs such as half an ear of corn on the cob or a small potato), lots of greens, fruits in moderation, no processed sugar, nothing deep fried, very little if any red meat, and no junk food. But monitor the glucose level because everyone's body is different.
Some people cannot exercise or diet-out their diabetes, which I am sure you know. I am a regular runner, walker, and weight trainer doing martial arts 3x per week and have done this since I was 20 years old, now with LADA diabetes and as soon as I reduce my medication, my diabetes markers start to rise. Going low carb does help as it does not exacerbate the blood sugars and hemoglobin markers, but there is a scrifice on energy levels with this kind of diet, especially for an athlete like myself.
@@martynblackburn9632 Everyone's body is different. And since T2D is a progressive disease there may be some time when I will have to go back on meds no matter how well I take care of myself. Whether you're able to keep the T2D is complete remission or just "controlled" through medication; the exercise and eating right can't hurt and will probably make a big difference in how long it may be until the really serious symptoms and T2D complications take hold; and that difference can be several years or even decades. It could mean the difference between living until 69 or 89 without complications. Stay strong my friend and stay the course.
I feel you…I don’t know what to eat…so I did the 15 been soup with greens… A1C was 13.5 and went down to 8.9…. Thanks for your story.
Bag beans 15 bean soup
It’s not just about weight either. There is also a type 1.5 called lada-it’s autoimmune.
Fasting?
The heavy weight doesn't happen because of diabetes.....the diabetes is caused by the diet that caused the heavy weight.
Exactly. People mistake weight as the cause of diabetes. It isn't. Cut carbs and you lower blood sugar
@@NexusNinewhat kind of stuff do you eat
This video really gets the point across. Though no hope for my 44 year old autistic son recently diagnosed Type 2 who is petrified of needles so can't check his sugar, plus demands and consumes lunch meats and cookies and the like. Can't understand at all the need to exercise and eat better so it is sad for me to watch him. I help as I can but can't do nearly enough to make changes. Tomorrow I will start him on metformin.
Hope you got time released my metformin made me have diarhea every day
My son couldn't take time released M as you can't crush it, so he has been on 500mg daily of regular M. He did have bad diarrhea for some weeks but it has now totally passed. Now AM I give him a Dr. Shultze "tonic" mixed with a "GlucoDefense" by SugarMD and a scant teaspoon of one of 5 fibers that I bought. Before dinner he gets the GD with another fiber and one of 4 items (ACV and blackstrap molasses, or a teaspoon of a green powder, or chlorophyll or 1/8 c aloe vera juice) along with 500 mg of crushed metformin with water. Then he gets a crush of around 12 different supplements with some ice cream or applesauce. Cut out much of the cakes and cookies and I can't do blood sugars but he really seems to gleam with health.
Well I know someone that is petrified of needles and he also austic and non verbal as well. Maybe there is patch machine that could help with medicine he need fir that ask Dr.. love your comment for this video
Get him a continuous glucose monitor. No (or few) fingersticks. These are godsends! It's a game changer.

I have been underweight for the last 20+ years, currently pre-diabetic and nearing the “diabetic” status.
I have a normal bmi , but I got diagnosed with prediabetes of 114 mg/dl. I stopped eating dinner after 6 pm, and it got down to 93 mg/dl in 1 week. I also did a 30-minute walk every night. I hope it works for you.
Research low carb diet
Some deadlifts will help build muscle to support blood sugar management. All best
I’ve always been thin. I still have diabetes 2
My dad was 130lbs and die of diabetes.
im so sorry that happened to you..

Type 1 can be thin. Weight loss is actually a symptom
@@tpp5151 he was type 2, i don't know if it's going to have the same effect, im type 2 and I've been losing weight
I love these exceptions to the rule, because one size never fits all.
Cut out sugar&carbohydrates, stick to a ketogenic/carnivorous way of eating. My missus isn't t2 diabetic anymore, the arthritic pain in my knees has gone . It literally works, keep your natural salt intake up aswell.
I reversed mine by weight loss alone.
It is a problem with skinny ppl they don't want to lose weight.
type 2 , i struggle to keep between 5 and 8 , 15 and 21 recent and feel sick as a parrot , water drinking and looking at foods to reduce it and knock on wood get the levels down to below 10 as i certainly notice the effects and would rather trade it for tooth ache
sugar levels can go high in matter of minutes , its exhausting to maintain it least for myself
Ive lost all the weight and 67 kgs but cant get rid of diabetes
Autoimmune paleo diet+ prolonged fasting.
Try 18-6 intermittent fasting so eat from 12-6 and don’t eat until 12 next day.
Every second Sunday eat dinner 6pm and don’t eat until Tuesday at 12

Can one Pre d type 2 go on Vegan Vegetarian plus on OMAD to reverse Pre d type 2?
If yes, take how long the time periods ?
The equation result shall be:
OMAD + VEGAN VEGETARIAN
+ how many days or months or years ?
= HBA1c < 5.4
Purpose: to reverse early Pre d type 2
Important point: early Pre d type 2, do not take any kind of medicines or japs at all, so low blood sugar will not happen in this case ?
my sugar has been 500 every day iam 140 lbs, when i fast sometimes it still goes up iam 62 and have hemochomatosis i had complete liver failure 15 years ago but recovered while waiting on liver transfer .does anyone think it will get worse..,, And prays from a cloth helped

HOW DO YOU CURE TYPE 2 DIABETES? AND THE REASON WHY I AM ASKING YOU ALL THIS QUESTION IS BECAUSE DIABETES RUNS IN MY FAMILY. MY GRANDMOTHER AND MY MOTHER WERE BOTH DIABETICS BUT BOTH MY MOTHER AND GRANDMOTHER HAS PASSED AWAY FROM CARDIAC ARREST. MY GRANDMOTHER PASSED AWAY IN APRIL 25, 1990. AND MY MOTHER PASSED AWAY ON JUNE 5TH, 2012. MY GRANDMOTHER WAS 73 YEARS OLD WHEN SHE PASSED AND MY MOTHER WAS 67 YEARS OLD WHEN SHE PASSED AWAY. NOW I HAVE 2 AUNT'S WHO HAS DIABETES. AND IF I KEEP ON GOING THE ROUTE THAT I AM GOING ON BY ME EATING JUNK FOOD, EVENTUALLY I WILL DEVELOP DIABETES AND I DO NOT WANT TO BECOME A DIABETIC. SO WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO KEEP THAT FROM HAPPENING?
Eat well and exercise. Also speak to someone who can help relieve some of your stresses like a therapist.
Stop eating junk, and take healthy tonics and supplements that are on the market. Gotta do your research, even if it's only a few minutes a day. The healthier you try, the more your cravings for junk WILL decrease, and your motivation will go through the roof. Try it.
Cut out carbs and sugar!!! Go for walks! Eat lots of fiber!!!! God bless
Low carb high fat is the answer! Proven beyond doubt.
No it isn't and you need to think about how many people would die from your ignorance if they took your advice.
@@eddielasowsky7777wrong, low carb is excellent for diabetes management, our bodies can run on ketone bodies and make its own glucose, high carb is not essential and it is only going to make diabetes worse, why do you think so many people have reverse their diabetes type 2 by going low carb?
Why can’t type 1 diabetes every be talked about as people think type 1 and type 2 are the same and there not
My doctor says to me my type 2 diabetes not curable...
Yes there is
It is not but controllable. That means you can stop eat meds using healthy lifestyle and exercise regularly.
Its a lie. They can cure cancer and aids and diseases but not diabetes. Make that make sense 🤷🏾♂️
I swear to you it is curable , I was 426 I just ate avocado 🥑 cilantro 🌿 and cabbage 🥬 and squeeze lemon juice on this salad and olive oil in just a day and half went down to 137 , but you must be careful if your taking medicine, you have to slowly eat good diet then see how it lowers and lower your dose but you must commit and stay stress free .

You may need to build muscle and up vo2 max

when is good time this meds mornings or evening or night
Type two has two types. Lack of production of insulin and insulin resistance in the cells. My mom reversed her diabetes at 75 but her kdineys were damaged and they didnt tell her she had kidney disease so it progressed to stage 5 shes stage 4 now and keeping herself at that stage with diet ... had she known sooner she might have been helped. My mom had rapid weight loss due to her diabetes.
Watch Mr. Crafty Man "HOW I Beat Stage 4 Chronic Kidney Disease CKD, Type 2 Diabetes, and High Blood Pressure In 90 Days" Maybe it could help your mom.

I thought there is no cure for diabetes.
There’s no immediate cure however you can reverse and prevent it from progressing further and cut back on the medication that’s for type 2 for type 1 is another story
No long term problem is cured. Gotta control it lifelong.
Well, there’s new hope for everyone, just a couple of months ago looks that china finally found the cure for type 2 diabetes, but this time can be for real, since they used steam cells from the own patient there’s no way that the body can react bad, unlike the steam cell theraphy for Type 1 diabetes which most of the them are on pausé because their use donant steam cells, of course with this i don’t mean to tell you to eat what you want, even if you get finally cured by reversing the diabetes or with the steam cells (i hope china make more clinical trials for that) you will need to get active lifestyle and stay like that, not because you are not cured, it’s because i think the main reason why the diabetes type 2 exists on humans will be the actual lifestyle what we have, our ancestors in their TimeLine use to hunt and stay active “very rare to see a human being inactive” humans are animals at the end, and we can have a confortable life but we need to stay active until the end
