Now that is how you film an incident! Camera was steady, you kept focused on the incident, and you were not talking in the background. Also, thank you for taping it in landscape mode. Perfect!
@vicpetrishak7705 IF this Arby's reopens... This could be the end for this franchise after already being closed before. Premiums may become to high to be worth another try.
I don't know what some of you people are complaining about. It only took the first due fire apparatus about 3 minutes from the start of the video to arrive on scene. It only took 90 seconds more to get water on the fire, and 30 seconds more for the fire to start to darken down. Seven minutes from the start, all visible flames were knocked down. That's a pretty damned GOOD response time, especially for a rural department. NO, the driver wasn't going to stay in his burning car and try to move it. And NO, the employees weren't going to try to put the fire out themselves. In this situation, the fire is too big, and would spread too fast. They knew that. And the manager's priority, in that case, is the safety of their crew and customers. NOT putting themselves in danger to save a building that is insured and can be quickly, easily rebuilt. It's really easy to sit there and complain from the other side of a screen. It's easy to find fault, when you're not the one doing the job yourself. I swear, some people just aren't happy, unless they have something to bitch about. But I bet most of the complainers wouldn't dare run to the flames themselves, to try and stop them. Me, I thought it was a great video, and I thought the firefighters did a great job. All heroes in my book!
I agree with you that it only took a minute and a half from when the engine maxi brake was set until wet stuff was on the red stuff! They probably all have headpiece communications in the engine and they were discussing what their procedure was going to be before they disembark the engine. I think it was well choreographed and timely, and everybody expended the amount of energy they needed to get the job done without overdoing it
I live in a small city and we have seen a lot of fires one killed 5 volunteer firefighters it was a dark day in this city I appreciate the local fire company’s
Has a volunteer firefighter they did it pretty quickly. We can’t just pull the hose off the truck and charge the line. We need to straighten the line first and make sure there’s no kinks
The initial nozzleman did a fantastic job knocking down the fire…….swirling the nozzle is more effective than just using a straight of fan pattern! Good job by all!👨🏼🚒👨🏼🚒👍🙌
I was there that day and this truck lit up big and fast in the drive through. It was attended to quickly and the Arby’s is already being rebuilt on that side. We have great first responders and I’m thankful no one was hurt.
Thank you for an update! Very glad it got taken care of as soon as they could and that they'll be repairing the building. I was like wtf did it run into the building but then realized it was probably in the drive through. So scary, especially since the truck went up and then the building caught fire 😮
@yancyjenkinssr1824 if it went up as fast as the video shows, there wasn't time, and it would have put more people in danger. Hate to say it this way, but keeping it closer to the building likely kept the truck from just exploding.
Great camera work. Thanks to the cops & first responders for keeping everyone away & giving the fire guys & gals room to work. The fire was knocked down in less than a minute after the fire truck showed on scene. Looked pretty scary when the building started to burn. Once you get fire in the inside walls, almost impossible to put out.
A full assignment with some extra love because smoke. It's shocking to see so little support. They are on their own, handling a structure fire. Wowzers.
Great job by the crew! Amazing what two handlines and calmness can achieve. I was expecting 6 engines 4 or 5 trucks and a rescue company to show up. Great job!!! Good to see such professionalism!
Yeah - and all because of someone who couldn't properly maintain their $400 piece-of-crap Ford from 1978. How much does a fire extinguisher at Wal Mart Cost - $10? This dude obviously didn't even have that much to spend and keep in the vehicle.
This appears to be a Ford truck that was in the year model range for the recall of the brake fluid level sensor wiring harness. Bsically the fluid could leak into the sensor and short it out causing it to catch fire. When I worked at teh dealership we had to add in a connector to the harness with a fusiable link so that it would not set the main harness on fire. I am wondering if they did not go have the recall done on this truck. I am of course just speculating based on my experiencce as a previous Ford Technician for 14 yrs. Either that or Billy got a really hot stereo system.
Maybe think about a dry sprinker or deluge system that can be activated from inside (or automatically.) There was something really burny in that truck bed - plastic bed liner?
Good water-on-fire time by first arrival and great nozzle work - knowing he was working off the tank he made excellent use of the water until the supply was established. Really good work.... their experience shows...
St paul MN FD... ISO rating is 3... Translates to "avg" response time of 3 minutes till arrival of 1 st apparatus...any city in world would love trucks to arrive in 3-5 minutes.. 🔥 doubles every 30 seconds
All these arm-chair fire chiefs criticizing the fire department clearly have ZERO clue about firefighting. First, we have no idea how long it took before the fire was called in. Second, the engine was on scene three minutes in from the start of the video. Approximately 90 seconds later, they were putting water on the fire. They were moving quickly enough to get the job done. The only thing that running around at full speed accomplishes is confusion and injuries. As for trying to fight the fire with a hand-held extinguisher... Unless you catch the fire early, putting our a vehicle fire with an extinguisher is pretty much impossible. And forget trying to move the vehicle. That's just plain dangerous and stupid. Commercial buildings are insured. If you really think you can do it better, go apply to your local fire department. Otherwise, STFU.
Yes. Most vehicle fires start in a place that is very difficult to reach, ie, under the dash, or under the hood. Either place, it will stall and not move under its own power. Good luck with moving it, or putting it out.
🔥Never ceases to amaze how long 5 minutes is to a fire. A study in Britain showed a standard living room from the time of first flame to flashover is under 3 minutes! [Flashover occurs when the heat is great enough +2000*F to combust the vapors on the ceiling. 2:40 was the average!] Firefighting requires serious cajones. Never wanted to go in the building when everyone was running out. They earn their keep. ✝️
Looks like a 90’s F150 or F250. Several years of that series up into 96/97 had some problems with either the ignition switch or alternator starting a fire. One day on a pizza delivery my 1993 6 cylinder F150 had a Smokey smell and I saw the voltage gauge drop so I returned to the restaurant and grabbed the fire extinguisher. The alternator was smoking but didn’t catch on fire. I stayed by for a while until it cooled down.
I've been watching these types of videos for 14 years, and it's bizarre to see them local to me now. I'm used to seeing them in Russia, Germany, Texas, California, Florida, but to be 20 minutes up the road is surreal.
I hope no one was hurt, but I feel sorry for the American fellows who see their restaurant burning. They will have to do without this fantastic healthy food. It's sad!
My boyfriend’s sister works there, I used to work there myself. I was in contact with her when it happened and she said that everyone made it out safe including the truck owner
All right Arby's hot, fresh, and fast! The best drive-thru service you're going to find I mean by the time these guys get out there and put anything on that fire the side of the building is gone!!
I wonder if the truck owner is held liable and if the truck owners insurance covers this type of commercial damage. The insurance scam these days makes you ask the question because insurance does not want to pay for anything anymore but you are required to have it
Wow you did a great job and i like the video you did and I hope that the employees are working at a different Arby’s location in that town if they had one in tell they fixed the drivethu and at least everyone made it out safely both at Arby’s and the people in that ford pickup truck
I am curious as to where the sprinkler system is and why it did not function , most likely would not have put the fire out but maybe would have had a good chance of protecting the structure.
Did an Arial unit show up at all or did anyone ever get up on the roof to check for extension?? I think anywhere else, that would have gone to a full building fire response with ladder or tower support.
Why do fire trucks no longer carry a 1” booster line for rapid initial attack. The Seagrave pumper I first trained on had a pre connect line that was fed by a 800 gallon tank.
Customer: Aren’t your burgers flame broiled? Arby’s worker: No sir, that’s Burger King Customer: Never mind , I’ll take care of it (pulls acetylene torch from back seat😳)

7 minutes would be great on scene in only 3:20 arrival time is frigging amazing! Other than taking too much time to flake out the line (it will normally straighten itself out) waste on fire in 5 minutes is impressive I guess the "hot" fries were just too hot?

I have seen drive thru fires destroy the whole resteruant before.
I used to live in Portsmouth, Ohio. I remember I passed through this town. I’m glad everyone is safe. Right now I live in Colorado.
Fortunately, the fire did not appear to extend itself into the main building. Very good effort for one engine.
Sure looked like the building was on fire to me.
If you watch the video you will see the building on fire.
Nope - watch the video again. The entire building is fkd
Nope they are open for business, minus the drive thru
