The performance was in Washington, DC, 1997, at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. Pictures of Saint-Sulpice are included in the video to show where the work was premiered. If you are watching RUclipss on a phone it is a bit more difficult to see details in the description. When did you sing this at Saint-Sulpice?
@@marvinmills9351 it was in 1987, for the 50th anniversary of the death of Charles-Marie Widor, organist of Saint-Sulpice during a 60 years period. A unique but fabulous concert, with the Church overcrowded by 5000 persons ! 2 choirs : Choir of the French Army, and a Gospel Choir of Paris, named Voices, conducted by Bonnie Wooley. I was a member of Voices, as bass singer.
@@christophehumann767 Oh, missed it by two years! LOL. That must have been an extraodinary experience. How wonderful for you! I was at Saint-Sulpice the week Daniel Roth became titulair, and had the opportunity to play the Grand Orgue. A special moment for me.
A beautiful combination of choir and organ!
Thank You!
BRAVO, this is a beautiful interpretation and the sound of the organs are so great. I have some CDs of this great organ and I like it very much.
6:50 what is that? Suddenly everthing is pitched a semitone up.
Bizarre.
LMFAO!!
If this is recorded at the Immaculate Cathedral in Washington DC, why is the photo of St. Sulpice, in Paris, France? No matter!
What is the date of the concert at Saint-Sulpice ? I was probably there, part of one of the two choirs !
