    So beautiful, the music, the cathedral, everything. One thing though about the Orthodox liturgy, watching it makes me kinda anxious because it looks so chaotic..haha

    • @Metascetic
      @Metascetic Год назад +9

      It's not chaotic! There's a lot going on, but once you know where every piece of it is from and inspired by (scripture) you learn it very quickly and becomes extremely rich and meaningful

      This is a hierarchical service and a little more is happening because the Metropolitan is there.

    Just a note: at the liturgy, any person who is not baptized in Orthodox Church (most are, but sometimes catechumens are present or a member of another denomination watching the liturgy out of curiosity), must leave the church before Cherubic Hymn starts. This should not be shown as a public video.

      Yes, it is. At least with slavic orthodox churches.
      I don't know if others (I doubt though) have removed that exclamation (recited loudly by the priest) before the Cherubic Hymn has begun.

      @@HickoryDickory86 haha. I don’t see why there is so much hate from this original commenter 😂. He’s commented on at least three of the liturgy videos. From a composing standpoint it is wonderful. All of the pieces follow his musical motif of the pentatonic scale. There’s incredible chord building as well as a very good usage of the oktavist in the written score (I have one haha). I think the main complaint might be that this is a liturgy and therefore must be a complete photocopy of Russian liturgies rather than an expression of the composer. If we look at Chesnokovs and Rachmaninov’s settings of the Liturgy of St John Chrysostom they are both very different from each other and are quite different sounding than even a normal Russian orthodox liturgy.
