Tous ces jeunes musiciens sont exceptionnels, bravo au jeune organiste. Tout est beau et cette œuvre, comme souvent quand je la réécoute, me transporte très loin....
De loin la meilleure version concert.
Et quel percussionniste !
Une interprétation absolument dans l'esprit de l'œuvre. Quel bonheur que cette partition quand le chef, l'organiste, l'orchestre forment une telle unité. On dispose désormais à Paris de quelques salles où l'on peut entendre cette œuvre, mais pendant longtemps, depuis la disparition des orgues des grandes salles parisiennes et spécialement de celui du Palais de Chaillot, cela était impossible sauf dans certaines églises...

Definitely, one of the best performances of this piece I've heard
Poulenc’s organ concerto ranks as one of the best and most popular. And when you have such a magnificent organ played by one of the best organists in the world in such a beautiful venue with such great sympathetic acoustic, then it can only be described as: Majestic! Thank you Thomas Ospital. You are an accomplished organist. I also applaud the timpanist, string section and conductor. Great performance.
Also a very beautiful Poulenc interpretation. And the VandeHeuvel organ is excellent for Poulenc's music

This performance has it all: it is elegant, precise and expressive. And the beautiful colors of the St Eustache instrument blend so well with the strings. A big thank you to all musicians and conductor.
Bravo! I've heard this work two dozen times, and never better. Ospital plays in such great ensemble with the orchestra, stepping forward gracefully when appropriate. The direction is just superb, and the orchestra is precise yet lovely.
I would have to give another very large congratulation to the sound design. The audio is splendid even though capturing an orchestra and an organ in a church must be challenging. This recording makes wonderful use of the long reverb only when it is an advantage, never becoming imprecise.
Why don't we know more about this orchestra in America?

Exécution magistrale par cette formation de jeunes musiciens, y compris par ce jeune organiste talentueux, l'un des deux successeurs du grand Jean Guillou !
pas vraiment "successeurs", car, bien que dans les faits, il soient organistes là où Guillou l'à été pendant si longtemps, ce dernier voulait désigner son successeur, ce qui peut se comprendre puisqu'il était bénévolement organiste à St Eustache pendant plus de 50 ans, mais le curé s'y est opposé et Guillou est parti de St Eustache. Bien qu'il ait affirmé qu'il n'avait "rien contre ces organistes", sa volonté de choisir son successeur sur "son orgue" était compréhensible...
I've known & cherished this work for years, heard/seen it done a fair few times and even played it in concert myself once ... but this account strikes me as pretty well ideal. The timbres and tempi are faithful to the definitive Paris LP recording (DuruflE), but here we have C21st sound quality, sensitively-shown video and young but accomplished forces who play with wonderful depth and maturity ~ for whom this must surely have been a very special, indeed career-marking project. Where else does one experience the whole gamut of human emotions, almost seamlessly, in barely an exhilarating and heart-rending quarter-hour?
I would henceforth unhesitatingly use this as a reference version when introducing the instrument &/or work to others as yet unfamiliar, as indeed I am just about to do so. Delighted to have rediscovered this total gem in the present version: Bravo, au moins les cinq Etoiles! (Alas, no accents on this system, even for a French-teacher of 40+yrs!)
Perfekte Interpretation dieses Werks. Elegantes und präzises Dirigat und Thomas Ospital großartig wie immer. Paris kann sich glücklich schätzen mit seinen Kirchenorgeln.

Excellent performance and sound production. There were a few orchestral entrance errors, but recovery was swift and accurate.

Comme tout le répertoire pour orgue et orchestre, malheureusement. Et quand on en joue, c'est toujours la même symphonie de Saint-Saens que l’on ressort. Alors qu’il y a tant d’autres choses... La dernière fois que vous avez entendu Guilmant, c’était quand déjà ?

Très très très bon. Ma seule critique : une mauvaise égalisation des timbales (son pas net et trop fort).
Art particulièrement ardu que celui du timbalier. Je trouve, au contraire, que ce jeune timbalier s'en sort plutôt particulièrement bien question justesse et intensité. Bravo à lui.

Fabuleux vraiment qu'elle e-quilibre émotionnel l'orchestre l'organiste son vraiment remarquable de la très grande musique Philippe Dubois de Caen
Far from an easy room to record in for sure. Bass travels in a direction of its own choosing which is just about anywhere in that cavernous room. All in all the sounds mixing was excellent!
Superbe interprétation. Mais ! c'est un concerto pour orgue. L'orgue est donc soliste pas accompagnateur. Encore une prise de son où l'on inverse les rôles. Les cordes sont beaucoup trop présentes ou l'orgue est trop loin et sonne derrière. On a le droit de ne pas aimer l'orgue et ne pas aimer l'enregistrer . Dans ce cas on laisse on aux ingé sons qui ont l'habitude de l'orgue. On verrait la t^te des gens si le piano ou n'importe quel instrument soliste sonnait aussi loin et aussi petit. Dommage !
