I've been listening to Led Zeppelin since the late 1970s, it never gets old, and has the ability to make you feel good and punch you in the face at the same time. Todays music just doesn't even come close to the level of creativity, originality, sound and emotions these 4 men were able to grace us with, we are truly honored and blessed that they came together to form Led Zeppelin.
Listening to Zepp since late 70's and was an avid big time collector of their live music Bootlegs for years as well as posters and magazines🇨🇦...... I absolutely love your reviews, and I consider you part of my zeppelin family❤️
They have done 40 Led Zep songs...did rain song 9 months ago... you should be able to find it and give it a watch. They did thank you 10 months ago... the tears were flowing. 🥰🥰
Your finding Led Zeppelin and sharing your love of their amazing creativity allows my memories of them to fully blossom once again and you cannot know how much I appreciate that! I truly feel your honest emotions and reactions! Thank you! Love & Peace to you and your loved ones. 💓
This is a beautiful tribute to their beautiful son, it’s heartbreaking there was a need to write it. It’s the most heartbreaking thing any parent can go through, & what loving parents fear the most. There’s different reasons this sounds different, Robert’s broken heart, & this whole album was mostly written etc. by Plant & JPJ. Thank you for your reaction.
Never knew the meaning to this song😢🎵, I always loved it and loved it's beautiful sound. Peace ✌️ and Love ❤️ your 70 year old forever Young Hippie Gary 😊 Great Reaction👍
Thanks guys for doing my pick!… The lyrics and Roberts intention for this song speaks for itself… Musically not everyone loved it because it was quite different for them. Although it still was a big radio hit. Keep in mind that this is their last album and as always, they continued to evolve, you haven’t heard a lot of latter Zeppelin. They were experimenting with new sounds. Early Zeppelin will always be my favorite, but I appreciate everything that they did along the way! Thanks!
Karac Plant would be 52 now, this was an amazing tribute song & always been one of my favorites as Zepplin has been my favorite band for over 50 years ✌💖☮
I love how you guys "get" Led Zeppelin. Everything you say about them is so true. The more you listen to them, the more you want. And yes, I cried with you listening to this song.
The death of a child is devastating, I know first hand. The picture on my name is my daughter who drowned and was missing for two and half months when she was 16. That was almost five years ago, I don't know that you ever recover.
She's such a beautiful girl. I'm so sorry this occurred. I lost a neice at 4 in a car wreck and a nephew in his 40's from suicide. Your message made me tear up.
No…”recover” is not really the reality, is it. When asked how he got through it, his answer was honest….”I don’t know”. Although he did say that John Bonham and his wife, Pat, were incredibly supportive and helped them though their grief. Ans then fir Robert to lose John…..It was just too much. And what to take into the future from such a tragedy? “Just love those around you as much as you can…….move forward and live your life”. I am so terribly sorry for your incomprehensible loss.
Such great memories from when this album came out. A beautiful time of being a teenager in the 70s. Thanks Andrei and Dominika, and thanks also Led Zepplin!
Great reaction! This is Zeppelin's most beautiful song. John Paul Jones knew how to put all the emotion in the keys as a loving tribute to Plant's son. Then came Robert's vocals...you can feel the heartache...and rightfully so! I've loved this song since first listen almost 35 years ago.
John Paul Jones showing off his incredibly expensive Yamaha GX-1 polysynth. As also demonstrated by Keith Emerson in the video for "Fanfare For The Common Man".
Shared a bedroom with my brother who was 6 years older than me so been listening to Zeppelin, Floyd and other great bands from the age of 10 "no choice"😅🎵🎶🔥🙏💪🐝🍀🇬🇧
The death of his five-year-old son Karac is Robert Plant's worst trauma in life. There is hardly an interview in which he does not mention the loss of his child. He also blamed himself for not being at home but in America when it happened and wanted to withdraw from the music business completely. He did not play live with Led Zeppelin again until 1979, at the Knebworth Festival. The song is on the last Led Zeppelin album they recorded together. Jimmy Page was barely able to perform when the record was made because he was a drug-related health problems. Robert and John Paul therefore took on the majority of the production work. The whole album therefore has a lot of keyboard and not much guitar. Robert Plant wrote several more songs for Karac, which can be found on his solo albums: "I Belive" and "Blue Train". During the mourning period, Robert was only supported by John Bonham from the band, Page and Jones stayed in America. This certainly put a strain on their friendship.
These are some seriously poetic and complex lyrics. I personally don't follow all the intended meanings. I know it's about his son, but hard to comprehend the lyrics. I've always loved this song. I remember when it came out. I was 16 or 17.
Robert was mourning, Jimmy and Bonzo were both dealing with substance abuse problems, and John Paul Jones was tired of touring, being away from his family for such long stretches. He wanted to relax at his estate and record there, and with other people, occasionally. They had spent 10 years at the top of their game, and were exhausted at this point, you can hear it in Jimmy's under cover guitar work, Robert sounding like he was crying, and Johnny is getting very wild and uncontrollable by this point.
Zeppelin had several different styles. Blues, rock, hard rock, folk, and pop, or what I call popZeppelin. For more popZep, listen to Fool In The Rain, Dyer Maker, Southbound Suarez, Dancing Days, Hot Dog, and the infamous The Crunge. Fantastic folk examples are Hey Hey What Can I Do and Going To California. All My Love is a top 5 Zep for me. Gorgeous song.
Guys, just a thought. I had this album, loved the song, but was unaware of the reason behind it until now. So, I relate to your melancholy after hearing it this time. However, that makes me glad I was able to enjoy it for so long based on what it meant to me and how I identified with it. I think it changes how a first reaction might be received to know a lot about a song beforehand. Always time after for discovery and context, especially if the meaning is vague. Regardless, great reaction as always. You guys rock!
Several people have covered this song. The music was supposed to demonstrate the emotions Robert Plant experienced over time about the lose of his son which as of today he still hurts from
The story goes that this album was set to record in Sweden and Jonesy and Plant had showed up on time while Page and Bonham were struggling with alcohol and Heroin and showed up later. Plant and JPJ wrote most of the material before the others arrived and that's why it sounds the way it does. More synth from JPJ and Lyrical content all Plant. I liked it, while having the same LZ fingerprint it was a different Led Zeppelin album, like they all were. IMHO
I have always believed the meaning of the song is about more than just Karac, it is also about the relationship with Maureen after they lost the child. Could they're love overcome his loss, and how they began to grow apart slowly but surely after his death! They eventually divorced in 1983 sadly. Everyone assumes that cracks in his marriage started to appear after Karic's death (7-26-77), immortalized in the lyrics here, but I wonder if the cracks were there already, and the child's death just shattered the glass. He famously travelled with a young girl (Audrey Hamilton) while on tour in 77, and I am sure there were others. Some of the photos of them were made public in tabloids, ect.... The affair ended when Karic died, and I am sure that had to impact the marriage. If you listen closely to the lyrics, he seems to be talking to Maureen at times about drifting apart and there are descriptions of how he sees the 3 of them, with the child being the "Feather in the Wind" p.s. Roberts sigil/rune on the 4th album was the feather!
I agree. I have always thought this song is mostly about Maureen, and is being sung to her. At the risk of sounding disrespectful to Robert, I think it's possible he has changed his narrative on this over the years.
This album, In Through the Out Door, is basically Zeppelin minus Page. This is when Jimmy was heavy into heroin, not showing up at the studio for days.... weeks even. So Robert and JPJ did most of the songwriting as Bonzo was also a no-show on many occasions due to heavy drinking. This would be their last studio album. CODA, which was next, is a collection of songs that did not make an album.... mainly Zep III material. Physical Graffiti is their peak!!!!!!!! 3 songs are necessary for your Zeppelin ears! In the Light Down by the Seaside Ten Years Gone
Everyone says this is a tribute to Kerik, actually from Robert he said he fell into a deep depression and this was to his wife saying that he was going to dedicate his life to her. It does talk about their son, the reason for his depression.
Yes it's about their family and the mother of his children but Karac's death is the reason the song exists he refers to him in it, therefore it qualifies as a tribute to him IMO. People aren't wrong in saying that.
The fact that Zep sounded different is not unusual. They made a career of switching genres and sounds, always experimenting, always pushing the creative envelope. Some say that In Through the Outdoor is not one of Zep's best, I beg to differ. It is probably more different than the others because it was written by Plant and Jones because Bonham and Page were recovering from substance abuse, but there are some great songs on the album: All My Love, Carouselambra, Fool in the Rain, I'm Gonna Crawl.
Robert Plant, during his solo career, another another song for Karac called “ I Believe”, released in 1993. It’s beautiful and sad. I think it’s the stronger song, but that’s just my taste.
Lots of difficult times after Karac:s death. John Bonham was the only member to help grieve Robert. Meanwhile, The others stayed in California to work on this album. John Paul Jones & Robert wrote all the music & compositions . Jimmy & Bonzo worked off hours .Jimmy of course produced the album. This album was very different, but actually had been nominated for a Grammy but Sadly Bonham passed before the awards & never got it posthumously
Yes, this last LZ album sounds very different from other albums. There’s only a couple songs I like on this album so I never listen to it. This song was on the radio a lot though.
I don't think Jimmy Page was much involved with this song and he didn't think it was like a Zeppelin song with it's regular chorus. It was mainly John Paul Jones who helped Robert to create this song.
Also if ya dig and enjoyed this video on Led Zepp 😀 you may also enjoy the song " Most of All " By Glenn Kaiser and Where Roses Grow Live by Rez Band Awesome songs check them out. Also I remember hearing the song by Led Zepp " In My Time of Dyin " during my drug years and made me think about death and Jesus. Then a hippy friend that dug Jesus told me more of Jesus love and forgiveness and how I could also know Jesus love. So in 1981 I cried out to Jesus and wow man He came into my life and I had and have so much joy and peace and now know that through Jesus when I die I will be with Him in Heaven. Hey Jesus loves each of you also and yall can know Him if you are at all open. Just cry out to Him and a good question to ask yourself if you were to die today would you go to heaven ? And if yes why ? To find out more please read the Gospel of John in the Bible or check out the movie on RUclips. 😀
"In Through The Out Door" was my least favorite Led Zeppelin album. Ironically, however, it does feature one of my all time favorite Led Zeppelin tunes: "I'm Gonna Crawl". To me, it represents a culmination of their capacities, as musicians. And it features one of Jimmy Page's many outstanding solos. I'm hoping one day you'll get to it, as well.
It’s too terrible to even try to contemplate. I know if I lost my daughter I don’t think I would be strong enough to get through it. It would absolutely end me. Y’all’s genuine reaction to this beautiful tribute song and even though Andrei was emotional he still was trying to comfort you Dominika. It’s very apparent that he loves you with everything he is and everything he has. Please never lose that!
They were very close in the early years. In 1977 Jimmy was getting deep into his heroin addiction. Not giving him an excuse he should’ve been there! But the band and especially Jimmy and Robert were very close in early years. Spending lots of time together and traveling together.
I don't like the fans who only talk about JP and JB when it comes to LZ (both were in the foreground when most PG and P songs were one-sidedly mixed by JP). At least in the 90s, Robert and Jimmy found something together again by touring together and never or rarely played LZ songs (saw them live; it was impressive, but not comparable to LZ). Have fun with all kind of good music.
Neither did John Paul Jones or Peter Grant. Some of them believed it was a family matter, and abstained from attending to give Robert's family privacy during their grief. The members of the band didn't socialize outside of their time on the road or in the studio - they were more like business colleagues. Obviously you can pass judgement and single-out Jimmy, but it wasn't just Jimmy, and they felt it was respectful to do so.
@@tektoniks_architectsBonzo and Plant were best mates even outside the band. That is why they ended Zeppelin, he said he missed his best mate. I lost my bestie to cancer aged 33 in 1997. I am close to her daughter, but she is not Meredith, and I miss my friend every day.
Your finding Led Zeppelin and sharing your love of their amazing creativity allows my memories of them to fully blossom once again and you cannot know how much I appreciate that! I truly feel your honest emotions and reactions! Thank you! Love & Peace to you and your loved ones. 💓
One of the best from Led Zeppelin. I used to like this song since I was in high school as a teenager.
Love for your child or children is the literal definition of unconditional love!
This is a beautiful, yet, somber song, you can actually hear Robert's pain as he sings.
😢
I've been listening to Led Zeppelin since the late 1970s, it never gets old, and has the ability to make you feel good and punch you in the face at the same time. Todays music just doesn't even come close to the level of creativity, originality, sound and emotions these 4 men were able to grace us with, we are truly honored and blessed that they came together to form Led Zeppelin.
Yeah, I agree. I grew up listening to Led Zeppelin. Pink Floyd. All those cool bands.
Listening to Zepp since late 70's and was an avid big time collector of their live music Bootlegs for years as well as posters and magazines🇨🇦......
I absolutely love your reviews, and I consider you part of my zeppelin family❤️
You two are genuinely good people. World needs more. Beautiful to behold.
Thank you kindly 💚
If this song doesn't make you cry, you're not human.
Both of you have one of the greatest reactions!
Beautiful song written for his son.
Lyrically, one of the most haunting and inspired songs Zep ever did.
One of many beautiful Led Zeppelin tunes..🎤🎶🇬🇧
My favorite Zeppelin song ❤
You need to find " Rain Song" and "Thank You" by Zeppelin, they are beautiful also.
They have done 40 Led Zep songs...did rain song 9 months ago... you should be able to find it and give it a watch.
They did thank you 10 months ago... the tears were flowing. 🥰🥰

Incredible song and a nice tribute to Roberts child
A lovely honest reaction to a beautiful song. Thanks guys.❤
A beautiful narration of the tug of war between grief and acceptance. Its fuckin amazing.

This has always been my favorite Led Zeppelin song. But this time, knowing the story, has made me cry.
My favorite on that album was in the evening ❤
This song makes me cry

Zeppelin always experimented. They just kept getting better.
There are other songs in Robert's solo career which are about Karac directly or indirectly. 'I Believe' is one such song, worth checking out.
Great reaction thanks 🎉🎉🎉

Wow You two made me cry. One for Karac.
My first concert 1973 montreal 🇨🇦
TO ME ….ROBERT PLANTS VOICE IS SO RECOGNIZING, AS IS JOHN BONHAMS DRUMS. THE SOUND MIX AS WELL AS THE STYLE, IS UNMISTAKABLE. ROCK ON 👊🖖
Robert Plant, during his solo career, another another song for Karac called “ I Believe”, released in 1993. It’s beautiful and sad. I think it’s the stronger song, but that’s just my taste.
Have you stopped listening to David Gilmour?😲...It can't be!!!
No, no, on our list still. Plus we do listen to him quite often the songs we already reacted to 💚
You need to listen to ‘Fool in the Rain’ from this album…
From the same album, try “ In The Evening” . Then the live version from Knebworth in 1979. Thank you.

In through the out door album was heavy with keyboards as Jimmy Page was struggling with his heroin addiction by this time.

I remember the keyboard solo standing out from most of what I'd heard from LZ before.

Bowie stolen the Kashmir riff to his song "1917" his most Zeppelin mood jajajaja

You wanna know how close the members of Zeppelin were? Jimmy didn't even go to the funeral.
Says a lot about his character... not my favorite in the group for sure
They were very close in the early years. In 1977 Jimmy was getting deep into his heroin addiction. Not giving him an excuse he should’ve been there! But the band and especially Jimmy and Robert were very close in early years. Spending lots of time together and traveling together.
