      Zeppelin is my favorite band. They detest being called a hard rock band. Too much diversity.
      Hardest rock band? Black Sabbath. Judas Priest. AC/DC. Not Zeppelin. They have some hard rock SONGS. But they are not defined by that

    Thanks for doing my pick! Another acoustic gem!… It’s been many many years since I’ve read about it, but the original lyric was the boy next door. I believe that Robert‘s parents didn’t want him playing with the boy because he was Indian… My memory may be failing on that, but regardless another facet of Led Zeppelin! Love that you love it!❤

      Plant’s wife is from India, maybe his parents weren’t to crazy about him marrying her, I don’t know just a thought.

    • @davidcarter4247
      @davidcarter4247 3 месяца назад +2

      Robert fell in love with a woman with Indian heritage, Maureen Wilson, which may be what you are thinking about. He married her when he was quite young, that is before Led Zeppelin. The marriage fell apart soon after the band dissolved. Whether there was any family issues I do not know but Robert does not appear to have been estranged from his parents. He has talked about taking his father to an LZ concert. Both Robert and Maureen came from middle class backgrounds. Robert's father was a civil engineer and Maureen's father owned a steel factory.

    • @sicotshit7068

      @@davidcarter4247 yes they were together about 2 years before they married, they married on November 9,1968, he had turned 20 on August 20th. I’m not saying that was the case, but could have been some inspiration. Things were like that back then, & yes for awhile he was estranged from his family. They both came from decent wealth family’s, it doesn’t mean they approved of who he fell in love with. Who knows, just a thought.

    • @davidcarter4247
      @davidcarter4247 3 месяца назад +1

      @@sicotshit7068 There are suggestions online that Robert was more enamoured with Shirley, who was Maureen's little sister. Shirley was with him when he appeared in court on drug charges in 1967 or 68. She would have been maybe 14 or 15. It has been claimed that Shirley is the "I've got a little schoolgirl and she's all mine" in How Many More Times and the forbidden love in What Is and What Shall Never Be. Plant and Shirley had a child together after his divorce from Maureen.

      No, I think you’ve got it. THANK YOU, Ed for that request! I knew they would love it. The acoustic guitar melodic line is just so damn beautiful and flowing
      And then he marries a woman of Indian descent. Or was she Romany? I cannot recall.

    It’s hard for everyone to describe how their music makes us feel, all we know is we love it, & want more. Songs for every mood you feel, that’s because they put so much passion into everything do do, not all musicians (bands) do that.

    Wonderful ballad. You likely know this but Page wrote all their music, Plant all their lyrics.
    For the studio version, Page played a couple of acoustic guitars, pedal steel guitar, dulcimer and bass guitar. Jones played mandolin.
    I love live but listeners can miss out on so much if they don't also listen to studio versions. There is no way the guys could play during live performances all the instruments that they played during recordings.
    Nice reaction, thanks! :)
    Edit: As an aside, although Page can play a bass guitar quite well, he usually didn't since Jones was such a great bass player. The reason Page ended up playing bass on the studio version is that by the time he was ready to record the bass, Jones had gone home so Page had to play it himself.

    I usually recommend live versions, but for this song, the studio version is the one! I have read that Robert Plant thought this song was the one he would like the band to be most remembered for. It is truly Epic!

      Maybe that’s the point too, you shouldn’t be limited to who your friends or who you love are. As a female, some of my greatest friendships have been with males, different ages races & sexual orientation & platonic. Even as an adult married almost 40 years, my husband knows I have close friendships with men, some since childhood. Yes it’s also about the environment, when people were getting more interested in protecting it. All in all a great song about issues at the time.
