This is not in regards to specifically Jojo. However; I just find it comical how so many people can refer to Soprano’s as this multifaceted category. Someone can be a light soprano, a heavier soprano timbre wise, a low soprano, a mid range soprano all that, but when someone says oh this person is a mezzo soprano it’s like that fach only falls under one description for a vocalist. If they do not have the dark color or heavy timbre then it’s like oh they can not be a mezzo but why is that the only trait utilized to describe a mezzo but we use all these other traits to define other vocal fach. People treat mezzo soprano’s like they are coloratura sopranos or something. Then there are other vocal fach categories out there like Dugazon Soprano which would be more fitting for Jojo considering her light timbre but ease in the mezzo area and voice sitting lower in the soprano range than most soprano’s.
Well only range doesn't guarantee voice type. Lisa Fischer who's a soprano can sustain and project A2 comfortably better than what Jojo can do. Jojo's voice lacks weight to be a mezzo

I mean Jojo is a lower soprano with a small vocal tract + she's basically a lowered version of typical soprano's (same with Bey in this case where I used to think she's a mezzo due to her miscarriage but in reality, she still a regular soprano who puts less effort or ease in her middle voice especially around A4-D5 which have the effort of soprano's)
And Jojo became noticeably known as sounding youthful, bright (where typical known for LIGHT sopranos) but more difficult sounding especially from A4 and above +she never showed that MUCH EFFORT and INTENSITY in her middle voice compared to the actual mezzo such as Adele,Miley or Jiyoung from big mama
