      @ Agreed; Three incredible voices/women.
      To add to that, what all three have endured in their personal lives for me is the cherry on top. Mariah’s racial identity, being almost drugged and sold to a pimp by her sister, her jealous mother, whom both really passed. Whitney’s toxic family, dad suing her before he died, husband, and sad illness with substance, and alienation from racial criticism, and Celine’s recent struggle with seizures and her illness. These women work so hard and all artistically paved the way, despite their trials and hardships. Even the greats are humans too

      1. Mariah cowrote and coproduced most of her hits and albums.
      2. Whitney was responsible for live orchestration and arrangements in a way that David Foster, and Merv Warren have noted.
      3. Celine is also a stellar performer with a lot of genre versatility able to sing songs in multiple languages.

While all these videos are made with good intention, at the end of the day, we’re talking about 3 singers with incredible voices and they’re all incredibly skilled. The differences are in their styles, none of them sings like the others, they all sound very different from one another.
    Everybody just has their favorite because of personal preferences and then they bring down the others. Can’t we all agree that they are just amazing singers who are each so unique and bring so much individuality and personal style to singing, and there’s no reason to be comparing them at all?

      @@nunyabiz3668Absolutely not…Whitney’s tone is much more velvety and smooth than Mariah’s. Also when singing live in their prime Whitney was not only able to reach notes, she sustained them. Mariah would touch a note then flee for her life. Early on in her career, people all said Whitney had a 5 octave range and even today some certified vocal coaches say she did. To understand Whitney you have to listen to her from 1985-1987 live especially singing songs like He, I Believe and I Am Changing. There’s a reason why with far fewer albums Whitney has more awards including being inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame after only 5 years of her debut. Whitney was the only one to consistently sing live throughout her career…only using lip sync when it was not her choice. But then she refused to do so saying if they didn’t let her sing live she will not show up to any television appearances. Whitney is the only one who had full control of her voice…from the lower register to her head voice. Being able to use your vibrato throughout your range is incredible. Thats why both of the other ladies cite Whitney as a major influence on them becoming a singer.

      I myself am a huge Whitney fan (even though you’ve tried to tell me I’m not a Whitney fan due to objective remarks about her vocal condition in the 90s), so you’re definitely *not* telling me anything new. Your sustainability past E5 remark is something I have been just as, if not more vocal about than you. I cannot stand it when people say Whitney could not belt properly past Eb5; It is a huge ignorance to her live catalogue/performances. Tone is incredibly subjective. Many people prefer Mariah’s tone in that region, and that’s ok. Mariah incorporated upper-belts (in my humble opinion) more consistently *in the studio* and creatively into her work than Whitney did *in the studio*
      Now technically, yes, Whitney was far more versatile with the upper register, had more chest participation, could phrase, sustain, apply vibrato, and was more consistent on a grueling tour schedule, which is basically just regurgitating what I already said: Whitney had the better technique live there.
      Whitney live is another topic since she was consistently out performing her own studio work, but let’s not discredit others who are subjectively more impressed by one area of voice from Mariah. Whitney and Mariah are both incredible, and there’s nothing wrong with other’s having a preference.

    I agree with the upper belt ranking. I'm not hearing how Whitney's upper belt is supposedly "better" than Mariah's. Mariah's upper belt has always sounded more impressive and superior to Whitney's. The overtones and the tonal brightness that Mariah achieves as she blooms in the upper belt is something I haven't heard from any other singer. Whitney's upper belt has never really impressed me all that much; neither has Celine's for that matter. Their mid-belts, on the other hand, are an absolute marvel.

    • @nunyabiz3668
      @nunyabiz3668 Месяц назад

      I think it depends on the performance for both of them; they both have nights where they're on fire and off nights as well in the upper register. I would say Whitney had the better technique for sure, but Mariah had a more optimal tonality for her catalogue that many prefer, which I can see.

    • @Antonio-vw8pp
      @Antonio-vw8pp Месяц назад +1

      @@nunyabiz3668 Better technique how when Whitney sounds significantly less freer, much thinner and more pushed up there than Mariah? Like, how is Mariah's technique up there supposedly inferior when she flat out sounds like her voice blossoms up there as opposed to Whitney? What is this supposed superior technique that makes Whitney sound pushed up there, while Mariah floats up there?

    • @nunyabiz3668
      @nunyabiz3668 Месяц назад +5

      @ Antonio-vw8pp
      I get what you’re saying, but there are a few reasons:
      1. Because tonality doesn’t equate to technical prowess. Mariah has a more forwardly resonating placement and lightens her chest more up there, which for pop music, people prefer.
      2. Push doesn’t equate to strain. Belting in its definition is a pushed sound. It isn’t meant to be a light buoyant coordination in every situation.
      3. Mariah had glottal attack, and thus, restriction past E5. Yes, glottal attack allows for a piercing sound, but it doesn’t allow the voice to stabilize and maintain up there. Not denying that she sounds immaculate up there, but that isn’t technique.
      4. Whitney was more consistent on these notes, with more chest engagement, and a better execution of release. She could phrase, sustain, add vibrato (which indicates there isn’t a constriction in the throat), and/or add distortion up there, and she was more consistent while putting on shows with these notes.
      Mariah had the better *tone* which was more optimal and creatively placed into her musicality
      Whitney had the better *technique*
      which allowed for versatility and consistency up there

    • @romanarts6645
      @romanarts6645 Месяц назад +6

      @Antonio-vw8pp Well, the truth is Whitney was technically better in her upper belts. Mariah's tone could sound more flattering to you since her voice type tonally shines more in that area. But that doesn't change that Whitney was better from an objective point of view. Whitney had much more chest participation, could sustain, could phrase and apply vibrato to her upper belts, none of which Mariah demonstrated in her abilities. You can like her tone more up there since again, her voice type shines more there tonally, but Whitney is technically superior in the upper belts

    Whitney has the best scale out of the three, from top to bottom. Mariah and Celine go lower with their voices with more ease because they’re not projecting in full voice. In the undubbed audio of ‘You And I’, Mariah’s low notes were very breathy and almost inaudible, and not very in tune. Whitney almost always sang in full voice from top to bottom. Whitney also has the most balanced belting scale - an even resonance from top to bottom. Celine has more ease from G5 and up, but only because she thins her voice out more. Whitney went up there with a more balanced sound. Head voice goes to Whitney, although Celine is close. And both Celine and Whitney do not have a whistle register.
