Some of Regine's techniques and ways may be "unorthodox" but still is healthy and great. If not, her voice would be completely damaged now. Aside from that, she is the BEST SELLING ARTIST OF ALL TIME the Philippines has. She had have and is still supporting up and coming artists. So many well-renowned international artists recognized her and were all astounded and impressed by her( e.g. Michel Legrand, Brian McKnight, Paul Anka, Jacky Cheung, David Archuleta, Mandy Moore etc.). Maybe people can say many things against her, but all of it would be fallacious. The fact that Regine is Ryan Cayabyab's favorite, is just one of the evidences that Regine is great and she is a technical, knowledgeable and emotional singer. She is the best singer our country has ever produced. Many people bash her or insult her; saying "Oh she's unhealthy, she's like this and like that". Well, the another fact that she is not exhausting to listen to even when you listen to her belting continuously unlike other belters here in the PH is a great indicator that she's just that great, magical and technical. She knows what she's doing. It's just so easy for her to belt and sing in general, especially when she was younger. If she doesn't have the GERD or the "evolved stage" of Acid reflux, she'd be more monstrous. Well, even now that she has it, she still is monstrous and no one else comes close; no one can beat her. Even just talking about power, no singer here can match her. Maybe they can have a wider range, but in an overall aspect, she is still the best and not even an inch close to the younger generation of singers and artists. She is the queen of the PH Music Industry and I think it's just obvious why. Many vocal coaches, the legit ones, are praising her and were astounded by her. For example, the ending note of the A Piece of Sky- highest version, were praised by vocal coaches even though some says it's "pushed" or "tight" or whatsoever, even though they do not have the credibility to say so. Regine Velasquez deserved her place; where she is right now. She is the standard and will always be. It's Ok if people would like another artist, but what's wrong or bad is to insult and then compare Regine with them who is far more better in so many aspects. Thanks.
I used to dismiss Regine Velasquez about a decade ago, but in the last six years, she’s really become one of my all-time divas. Her voice is really just aspirational and amazing. Perfection. She’s a perfect performer and emotional interpreter as well.
Hi, Ally. Been a fan of you in video compilations like this. Would you mind to enlighten me the color significance in each note if I interpreted them the same way I did like blue, green, red, and orange? Thank you. I love Regine so much ❤️
Regine's only flaw is that she overuses her voice. Imagine singing every Sunday to a stage in ASAP, the Philippines' most famous noontime show, guesting on big concerts, singing on her TV sitcom shows, doing a mini concert, a product advertising concert, and commercials in a month. It seems like she has no rest day, which makes her the hardest working artist I've ever known. Despite all of the crazy events and situations in her life, I've never seen her cancel a concert, even if her voice isn't in good shape. I've never seen her act with the DIVA attitude that makes every artist and fan adore her. With that being stated, I believe her greatest asset in her voice is her style of storytelling and delivery, which most artists in the Philippines and in general lack; her whispery way of singing ballads separates her from other vocalists. IMO, she is the Aretha Franklin of the Philippines by simply paving the way and introducing this belting type of style, which is why the Philippines now has many belters whom she most influenced, many of whom I adore; I am confident, and even Regine stated that many of the younger singers beat her in by having a wider range, yet none come close to her contribution to the Philippine music industry.
@Ventus I wonder if Aretha also had a very hectic shedule/works....pls enlighten me don't have knowledge about Aretha being busy in her entire career...just let me know not a hater...
This analysis is great in terms of technical aspects you describe her effectively and detailed especially about her strength and weakness. She's definetly way better that half of the vocal community portray her to be. But one thing I disagree is that her musicality isn't bad it's versatile and good. Yeah she may be messy in terms of doing complex runs but overall she's a great performer with creativity and ear of music. She's called Asia's songbird for a reason THANKS FOR THE ANALYSIS 👍
In My Country, In The Philippines, She is Idolizes by a Lot of New Generation Divas, especially Morissette Amon,Katrina Velarde,Jonalyn Viray etc. because her Reginified Freak of Nature Vocal Stamina,Breath Control and Belts/Mix💖
The tone she produces is naturally pleasing to the ears whether she belts or just sings with her low notes thats why she is incomparable. There are new singers nowadays who can belt as high as her or intentionally hold their breath longer but still sound cheap. Even if she was just starting before she already sounded expensive that no one would think she was just a newcomer in the industry. She set the bar so high that her fellow singers during the 90s were unable to match.
@@allykelly facts, they think Regine is all about raw natural power, they don't realize the kind of power she possess doesn't come without proper development considering she is naturally quite light singer.
She has a lot of Sustained D3 Low Notes Than You Thought and in these Clips inserted on this Content, In My Opinion, She is Also Queen of Sustained D3 Low Notes, For A High Soprano it's not easy to hit and Sustain Below Eb3 or D3 Low Notes, Many Sopranos today can't Sustain and hit well Eb3 below
@@allykelly are you kidding me? Lani Misalucha??? hahaha! she can't even hit a decent G5. If you were able to watch her live performance in SOP back to back segment where she sung Whitney Houston's You're still my man, you would know that her chest voice is sooo limited. and more thing, she sounds horrible with Mariah's songs!
@@bleh027 Lani has fuller mid belt and up to Eb5 her forth octave is comparable to Vivian reed who's a belting empress. Her head voice is so operatic too
She's the most popular singer in the Philippines, set the standard of singing high notes and belting, her Asian Album was also top selling all over Asia she also became huge in movies in the country an inspiration to a lot of new singers/belters but she's alao known for her great story telling skills or interpreting songs Aside from winning in a National Competition, she also won a Music Festival held in Hongkong where she competed with other singers in different countries in 1989 (if I remember the year correctly).
Some tension is necessary for some parts of songs to convey certain sounds that will suit the message/lyric. Imagine hearing a rounded, free, light and open F5 on the "anyMOOORE". As long as the vocalist isn't tense the whole way through the song, s/he's fine.
@@allykelly It's weird because Regine was worshiped in South Korea before the Kpop phenomenon she had multiple concerts, invited by KBS to open their concert show and had Documentary about filipino singers especially her (Regine) "Filipina Singing Angel" and some older Korean generation still knows and remembers her also Korean who live in Philippines adores her and ranks her as their favourite singers of all time for example Sanada Park.
Regine, being a true true soprano sometimes have the tendency to push too much weight on her upper belts, just coz she can... That's why some identify her technique as shouty.
At 4:55-4:58 "Bakla" - Eb5, Those Foreign Viewers and Subscribers who don't know what "Bakla" means in English here, it means "Gay", She Jokingly Belted The Word "Gay" There with Sustained Eb5 haha haha so Funny🤣😂
Finally!!!! This is what I've been waiting😭, Thank You So Much for this💖, I agree with what you've said about her Technique from Low Notes to Head Voice, but Yeah She is One of the Legendary Singer from My Country, The Philippines👑, A More Than Decades Legendary Vocalist/Singer💖🎉. Ps: but for me, her Underrated Vocals Part is Vocal Agility,Runs and Riffs because of her Own Originality and Good Scales of Runs
@@KajiVocals i just refer to his comment about the drastic change of her technique just saying that she's still doing fine lately although her acid reflux destroy her consistency
If Regine technique and mastery are unacceptable to the norms of vocal greats😱😱😱 she will not be on top among the greatest vocalist ever produced in Philippine music in almost three decades still counting and people of other ethnicities globally won't even bother to caution how great has she evolve and progress to be one the legendary Queen who was trained informally by her late father fondly called Mang Gerry❤️❤️❤️🙏🔥🇵🇭
Her best abilities in singing are volume, resonance/power/belting, tone (very feminine), her creative runs, her stamina and most of all is her vocal acrobatic.
Have u heard lani misalucha, she's an amazing belter and a headvoice user . Her belting range is really solid, thick, full, and bold especially in the midbelts comparison to Vivian reed with her amazing operatic headvoice that carries much fullness and roundness. IF u know her, would u tell her consistent range ?
Queen Regine can also be a beauty queen. She is so beautiful. Aside from Catriona Gray Miss Universe 2018, she looks like Miss Universe 1998 1st Runner-up Veruska Ramirez and Miss World 1984 Astrid Carolina Herrera aka Morena Clara/Altagracia both from Venezuela 🥰
I personally believe she has mastered musicality and has exhibited them in many of her shows, concerts and performances. Unless, the definition of musicality here is something else. Regine is without a doubt an impeccable story teller and is able to keep the audience and viewers silent as she sings and stands on their feet, and you will hear cheers and applauds loudly when she ends, only that in many of the clips included here, that was not captured.
@@allykelly, true; I find it awkward at times, though if I close my eyes while listening, her voice does convey the emotion. 😂 She has performances too though where her body language in general matches the mood of the song. For example, Papa Don’t Preach, Where Do I begin, her duet with Martin Nievera, among others.
would make sense considering Regine’s a light lyric soprano, and Céline’s a full lyric soprano. Céline has forward placement, with a bright and sharp tone, but she also carries a bit of natural weight to the point where she once classified herself as a mezzo-soprano.
Celine is a light soprano too. Her tone is the brightest in the trinity. Then followed by whitney. Celine's voice is inherently small like regine but Celine has a bit more warmth than her
@@taeslilclown9801 I find it easier than Celine Dion on the notes EB5/E5/F5/F#5/G5 can also be linked to her tone which is naturally clearer than Celine
@@taeslilclown9801 They have the same voice type. Regine might have a higher tessitura but Celine tends to sing in a fuller belt, that's why her voice sounds heavier. Her voice is not naturally heavy, it is very light

In case, for Yuju, she lost consistent resonance on C#5, but still able to support up to C5/C#5 with improved low notes and head voice. Does Yuju have potential to be AA-P again?
They can say whatever they like but one thing about Regine is HER MIC WILL ALWAYS BE ON! ON! How many other singers can say that? Especially amongst her counterparts. We all know all the other divas lip, use backing track and live auto tune. REGINE WILL NEVER. A singer should sing.
Thanks for the video and the effort. However, this does not summarize her overall proficiency as a vocalist. At her best, I think her highest free belted/mixed note is a B5. For me, her consistent free range is D3-G5/G#5-B5/C6. At her best: B2/C3-B5-F6. In terms of range, she has recently sustained a mixed C6 though, it's a little pushed. I've been studying her for a few year already. Good content tho'.
Good point but i disagree with her consistent range and at best She's definitely not consistent when most of her notes below Eb3/E3 are muffled and unclear. She's definitely not consistent up to G5/G#5 when her notes above F#5 are Shirll, pushed/tight. She's definitely not consistent on B5/C6 when her notes below B5 can be shrill, whiny and tight

Btw, can you do a Charice Pempengco vocal analysis, she (he) was a famous vocalist in the Philippines, and then she got even more popular after being a Hollywood star.
@@allykelly I think Charice's biggest strength is belting. I heard she's consistent from F#5-G5, but I'm not sure. Although, as far as from what I've heard her C#5-Eb5 are great nonetheless, I'm not sure about E5 and above. I think Charice is a better belter than Morissette in my opinion.
Based from what I've watched from her yt videos: Lows: Charice has the habit of lowering her larynx to achieve a bigger sound. Her lows are airy sometimes. But I think, she's also one of those high sopranos who can go lower. Midbelts: I think she has a powerful midbelt. Though, it may be inconsistent. Not sure. Upper Belts: I'm not sure. Probably she's consistent until F5? Though, I like her G#5 in one moment in time. Yeah, I agree. She has a habit of squeezing her high notes. Headvoice: Probably, a decent one. Though, she seldom uses that aspect of her voice. Agility: Yeah, she's agile.
Is this right for Raina's vocal profile? Voice Type: Light Lyric Soprano Supported Range: G3 ~ C#5 ~ G5 Tier: High Above Average to Proficient (B) Strengths + All of her registers are fairly well-developed and balanced. + Lower register is well-developed, considering her voice type, able to bring support down to G3, at best able to support down to F3. + Able to keep solid support up to C#5 with consistent resonance up to C5/C#5 in mixed register. + Able to keep support up to G5 in head voice. + Nice control of dynamics + Amazing breath control and stability + Strong sense of pitch + Knows her comfort range + Healthy technique is used. Weaknesses - Her voice lacks agility and flexibility despite being light lyric soprano - Inconsistency happens below G3. - Above C#5, the larynx is too pulled in the mixed register. - Head voice above G5 becomes shrill - Nasality exists - Head voice lacks resonance. Overall: Raina is one of the very underrated k-pop female vocalists. Her biggest weakness is the lack of vocal agility, which blocks her to get in Proficient level. However, it cannot be denied that she is a well-rounded vocalist with amazing control of dynamics and vibrato.
Her head voice isn't consistent on G5 from what I heard. And the lack of agility isn't what keeps her from being "proficient", Wendy Eunji Lee Younghyun and such also doesn't have good agility and are more skilled (rated higher). What keeps her from being Proficient is the lack of stronger belting above C#5, also stronger head voice will help.
hello. i love your videos. may i know the vocal tier of regine velasquez? people say that she can only support upto c5/c#5 and beyond that is unsupported with high larynx. i am really confused. thank you.
I used to believe Regine strains from D5 above but after watching tons of her performances and some of her vocal compilations/showcases from credible channels I'm now convinced the saying "Regine only supports up to C#5" is just a myth. Her lows are consistently good until E3 or Eb3 sometimes D3 and she has numerous C5-F#5 even G5 belts which are free, full and healthy and occasionally good G#5-B5. Her head voice is pretty good till A5 or maybe even Bb5 and sometimes can be decent up to B5/C6. She's also more agile than I thought and has great dynamics and musicality. In conclusion, Regine Velasquez is a great vocalist who is a victim of false information from fake vocal pedagogy like some channels and users or persons here in youtube and in the community. I'm sure I'm not the only one right now who has this similar point of view about Regine.
Regines head voice sometimes arent fully heady and that causes strain but it’s actually impressive because NO ONE has a chest voice so high that this would be an issue except Regine 😅
I think it's her stylistic choice. She prefers that metallic, saxophone-sounding head voice by injecting a little bit of chest/mixed in her head notes. I also notice she yodels when transitioning to head voice... and I f*ckin' love it!
No hate, but I can’t help but laugh every time I hear 5:01 😭😭 but oh well, every good singer has their bad moments. Regardless though, she is a great singer that doesn’t get as much credit as she deserves. It’s ridiculous how everyone likes to diminish her skill.
ruclips.net/video/cfX3uS51pME/видео.html @ 43:13 I like that way she sounded her A5 sustained note in HV with no microphone, a genuine resonance and her Bb5s are still fine tho it's quite bit pushed imo
Regine is better than lara in agility, considering she can able to execute complex runs compared to Lara who rarely utilized and has able to shown decent or simple runs
Bakla dami mong insecurities kay regine ..ano ipipilit mo pa yang katangahan mo na walang resonance at strained c regine? Wag kasi pairalin ang pagiging fantanga ni ngongo so hyang mo 😂
You know how lacking and questionable this analysis is when it's only mentioning the OBVIOUS aspect of Regine's voice. It fails to mention under the vocal agility and dynamics the easy and subtle shift from one register to another (from back to forward placement; from chest to mix). And most of the clips where her belt was described as constricted/tight is pretty much misinformed. Her F#5 in Piece of Sky will not be sustained that long with vibrato if that was tight. In fact, Regine used twang for sharpness and a very open throat for extra power in that note, which some vocal coaches agree, can be done without ruining one's voice. At the end of the day, all these debates on how unhealthy her vocal technique is go down the drain when she's been singing until now without developing throat problems after 60+ concerts without ever lipsyncing.
Maybe you just don't have trained ears. What's with open throat when u can hear her squeezing on the F5 and above. Using twang is very okay but you can do it without unnecessarily constriction/tension. Regine is still a skilled better more skilled than most people in the community think she is
@@allykelly then your statements are not reliable... I am a soloist and I think I have a better ears than yours. I am not a fanatic fan of her but some of your vocal statements about her are hoax. Her performances here are incredible. She uses a lot of technique throughout her career and I think you're confuse. Also, your vocal analysis are ironic because after you have explain that she has a good technique and there are misconceptions about her techniqhe and then you will play her performances and have a bad comment about that certain performance of her like throaty, failed growl, tense, high larynx, etc... so why did you included those vidoes in the first place wherein its ironic of what you have explain?

Very well said

This analysis is great in terms of technical aspects you describe her effectively and detailed especially about her strength and weakness. She's definetly way better that half of the vocal community portray her to be. But one thing I disagree is that her musicality isn't bad it's versatile and good. Yeah she may be messy in terms of doing complex runs but overall she's a great performer with creativity and ear of music. She's called Asia's songbird for a reason

Is this right for Raina's vocal profile?
Voice Type: Light Lyric Soprano
Supported Range: G3 ~ C#5 ~ G5
Tier: High Above Average to Proficient (B)
Strengths
+ All of her registers are fairly well-developed and balanced.
+ Lower register is well-developed, considering her voice type, able to bring support down to G3, at best able to support down to F3.
+ Able to keep solid support up to C#5 with consistent resonance up to C5/C#5 in mixed register.
+ Able to keep support up to G5 in head voice.
+ Nice control of dynamics
+ Amazing breath control and stability
+ Strong sense of pitch
+ Knows her comfort range
+ Healthy technique is used.
Weaknesses
- Her voice lacks agility and flexibility despite being light lyric soprano
- Inconsistency happens below G3.
- Above C#5, the larynx is too pulled in the mixed register.
- Head voice above G5 becomes shrill
- Nasality exists
- Head voice lacks resonance.

At the end of the day, all these debates on how unhealthy her vocal technique is go down the drain when she's been singing until now without developing throat problems after 60+ concerts without ever lipsyncing.

what does it mean when the note is green, red, and orange?
I do not know exactly, but here is my opinion
Blue: Note is optimal and powerful (Resonance in terms of belting & head voice)
Green: Note is powerful, but there are some issues such as being nasal (Supported)
Yellow: Note is not powerful, but good placement (Relaxed)
Orange: Note is somewhat tensed, but not that serious (Strained)
Red: Note is extremely tensed such as being throaty (Strained)
To put it simply
Blue : strong, bold, open, optimal
Green : strong, not as open, (with minor issue)
Yellow : decent notes (nothing impressive)
Orange : average/meh note (can be considered as bad but not terrible
Red : technically atrocious/terrible
@@allykelly Does minor issue mean such as being nasal right?
@@Luke루크-u1y nasality, tightness, twang
@@allykelly is twang same as nasal?
Is this right for Yuju and Wendy's vocal profile?
Yuju
Voice Type: Full Lyric Soprano (?)
Consistent range:
2015 ~ 2018: G#3/A3 ~ C#5 ~ E5/F5
Current: G3/G#3 ~ C5/C#5 ~ F#5/G5
Best: F#3 ~ F5 ~ G#5
Strengths
+ Unarguably one of the strongest k-pop female vocalists in 3rd generation.
+ All registers are fairly well-developed and balanced.
+ Lower register improved a lot from the debut, able to support down to G3/G#3.
+ Full support up to C5/C#5 in belting.
+ Able to bring consistent resonance up to C5 (C#5 in her prime)
+ Head voice improved a lot from the debut, able to support up to F#5/G5 consistently.
+ Healthy technique
+ Strong sense of pitch
+ Voice is somewhat agile
+ Decent stamina and breath control
Weaknesses
- Little regression happened in her belting due to the overuse of her voice. (Though, her low and head voice are improved)
- Below G3/G#3, notes sound muffed.
- Inconsistency happens above C5/C#5
- Resonance on C#5 is not consistent and optimal as used to be.
- Nasality becomes more obvious than before.
- Head voice above F#5/G5 is strained
- Resonance on head voice does not exist.
Overall: Yuju is one of the strongest main vocals in 3rd gen girl groups, even she regressed a bit because of her improved lows and head voice. In addition, she can still achieve consistent resonance up to C5 with some C#5s. (www.tiktok.com/@redflops/video/7133385467776535835)
Tier: Low Above Average to Proficient (B)
Wendy
Voice Type: Light Lyric Soprano
Consistent range: F#3/G3 ~ D5 ~ A5/Bb5
At Best: F3 ~ E5 ~ C6
Strengths
+ Unarguably one of the strongest vocalists in 3rd gen girl-groups.
+ All registers are fairly well-developed.
+ Lower register can be supported down to F#3/G3 consistently, and tone can be kept down to Eb3/E3.
+ Mixed register can be supported up to D5, at best up to E5.
+ One of the strongest head voice users in 3rd gen girl groups, able to support up to A5/Bb5 consistently, at best up to C6.
+ Capable to do complex riffs and runs
+ Strong sense of pitch
Weaknesses
- Resonance is inconsistent and small in mixed voice.
- No resonance achieved in head voice.
- Getting shouty above D5 in a mixed voice.
- Nasality exists
- Runs can be sloppy
- Head voice above A5/Bb5 gets strained
Overall: Wendy is unarguably one of the strongest vocalists in 3rd gen girl groups. Though her biggest weakness is inconsistent resonance, we cannot deny she is a well-rounded vocalist.
Tier: Mid Proficient (B+)
This is a lot but I'd say Yuju Is a light soprano
@@allykelly thank you so much for reading this long comment... next time i will shorten the comment.
Strongest vocalist on 3rd gen is Ailee, Dia, Uji, then Wendy
Not to mention that Uji is still an active vocalist rn so, no Wendy is not the best 3rd gen vocalist
@@creepybabysun9666 5th probably, Shannon is also 3rd gen
Whitney or Regine?
Lower Register: Regine
Belting: Regine
Headvoice: Whitney
Agility: Whitney
Dynamics: Regine idk, both are dynamical singers but Regine showcases it more.
Belting goes to Whitney lol but regine is good
@@allykelly yes i agree, as i rethink, Whitney's breath control and stamina over her chesty belts, kills Regine.
@@Haru-ml6gi I think Regine is more agile than Whitney.
@@gomo123 As a fan of Mariah, I'd still go for Regine for vocal quality. Her voice is much more soothing, relaxing, and genuinely emotive than Whitney's manufactured soul.
Is this right for Jamie (Jimin Park)'s vocal profile?
Voice Type: Soprano
Vocal Range: Eb3 ~ A5 ~ C#6
Consistent Range: F#3/G3 ~ C#5 ~ A5
Tier: Proficient (B+)
Strengths
+ All registers are fairly well-developed and well-balanced.
+ Healthy technique is used along with forward projection (ex: She never uses half air half sound technique)
+ Consistent resonance and full support up to C#5 in the middle register.
+ Low notes can be supported down to F#3/G3 consistently, and tone can be kept down to Eb3.
+ Head voice is very well-developed, able to keep consistent resonance up to A5.
+ Good placement can often be kept even outside of her supported range.
+ Very apparent musicianship
+ Sense of pitch is improved more than before.
Weaknesses
- Occasional pitch issues still exist. ex) she can still be sharp and shouty
- Weak vocal stamina, which causes she can be shaky (unstable) at times.
- High larynx above C#5, though good placement can be kept in the middle register.
- Occasional issue with being nasal
- Lack of vocal agility
Development of registers: Head > Low = Mix (Belting)
Overall: In my opinion, Jamie is a really underrated vocalist for me who has fairly-well developed and well-balanced three registers. She is unarguably the strongest vocalist among JYP female singers. I think she can even par even with Taeyeon, Wendy, and Eunji, also some people say she is better than them. Though her biggest weakness is vocal agility, it cannot be denied that she is a skillful vocalist.
Jamie is below those u mentioned she has lots of issues in her belting
@@allykelly such as being nasal?
Isn't 8:44 mixed?
That's nasal hv
Okay I'm sure i commented this already but why is Regine's technique considered "unorthodox"?
Idk what they really mean
@@allykelly I guess it's got something to do with Regine being nasal, but isn't nasal a good and natural part of the voice?
@@jayjade6003 being nasal is fine just don't be overly nasal
Since you're Indonesian, who do you think is the best Indonesian female singers? I'm thinking Soimah and Agnes Mo 🤔
Rimar I'd say
@@allykelly really? I think she sound messy above D5
@@creepybabysun9666 yeah but she's as good as Taeyeon as a belter if not better
@@allykelly hmm I would say Soimah is the best Indonesian female singer, i think she's consistent around G3-F5, not sure about head voice but i would assume she have a supported head voice since she's taking an Indonesian singing technique called "sinden" that mostly uses head voice
@@creepybabysun9666Maria Simorangkir, Putri Ayu, Keke Adiba
She can keep her resonance up to Eb5/E5 in belting right? And is she on great level in kva?
Something like that
