Agreed, I also have marked on my Skydemon the two light ships near Calais and Dover, Varne and Sandettie, they make good steps over the Channel in a single, which I do often. Also if you look on a shipping AIS site you will see groups of ships at anchor waiting for orders. They are around 5 miles north of Calais and about 15 miles north east of Ostende, they make channel crossing more appealing in a single I must say. I am not a big fan of long over water crossing in a single either, Skydemon has a range ring showing your gliding range when over water, which you set to your planes parameters, I like it to be touching something as long as possible!!
Quite some wind shear on short final, but tower wind was just 14 knots, so not really a "39 knot crosswind landing". Still very nicely done! And it's always nice to see a piston-engine aircraft being refueled with Jet-A :) Diesel is not the answer for most, but for these business travel aircraft it's probably a good idea.
It is mindboggling to me that my father who was stationed at Wick, Scotland during WW II, would have seen and perhaps used that same desk. What is unbelievable is the feelings that garners looking at it. We lost him at 86 years old over a decade ago - yet the desk still stands where it was in the '40's.
Beautiful aircraft and austrian engineering! I used to fly the DA42, very efficient airplane with a lot of innovation. Crossed the atlantic around 100 times a little higher up but this seems like so much more fun! Schöne Grüße aus Kärnten!
Another excellent episode crossing the pond. The fuel consumption on the DA62 is so frugal, you need only the main and auxiliary Jet-A1 fuel tanks. Great landings under such windy conditions...!
Seeing the WW2 bits at Wick was great! My Grandfather used to fly out of Wick as part of RAF coastal command during the war. Interesting to see how Wick looks
The pilot inspires a lot of confidence with the very professional approach and a wry sense of humour! Good flight management skills for sure. All the electronics are nice, but you need an experienced head to make best use of it all!
Micke and Martin are back! Our new RUclips documentary is starting end of December 2019. This time you’ll join us on an extraordinary training flight in a DA40 NG from our headquarters in Wiener Neustadt, Austria to Dubai Airshow. Get a glimpse: ruclips.net/video/l-IdnbT5nV0/видео.html
Capt., I was thinking the same as you were, while you were "exploring" the fort..."Where is everyone??" Sure makes counting the gate at the end of the day easy and short!! Enjoyed, as usual. Thanx.
Brilliant video series. Shout out to Drew at Wick (if you’re watching?). Thanks Drew for looking after me when I was passing through in 2017 in G-FUUN.
I used to live in a quiet village called Watten-by-Wick that is about 5mls from Wick. Wonderful place to live. I taught my then wife how to drive at Wick Airport.
This video becomes VERY EXCITING around 3:30. The pilot is unreasonably calm. He looks like he could have been one of those guys on a rocket to the moon.
At 8:42 I thought I heard "How were the women? Pretty good... pretty good shape too" and was going to recommend that you don't approach Gillette for sponsorship. After re-listening properly, happily I won't need to offer up that suggestion! ;-) Great vid and thanks from a temporarily lapsed pilot in Sydney, Aust (who has aspirations to own a DA62 after paying for our renovations and convincing my lovely wife...). Cheers, Dave
Great videos, I'm really enjoying the series and looking forward to the next one! One tiny thing that irked me, on the final approach to Reykjavik a wind check is given by the tower, the response should be a single click on the mic to confirm the information, 2 clicks is a response in the negative. This is very important distinction to make during a real radio failure.
With the radio working normally we always used two mike clicks to signify "Roger", understood when too busy to make a full transmission. One mike click might be interpreted as an accidental click. In case of an actual mike failure the tower might specify a particular number of clicks to signify yes or no.
So, the North Sea between Denmark and Scotland is warm enough to survive long enough to inflate and climb into the raft without the suits? Sounds quite uncomfortable still.
Adding pressurization increases the weight and complexity of the aircraft (in respect to certification as well as operation) and at the end also the costs and price of the aircraft. Therefore, when designing an aircraft, it is always the question where should the product be placed. With our aircraft we want to serve the market of high-end, high-quality piston aircraft without pressurization. 😊
Very interesting video, thanks for that. Yet, the sound is UNBEARABLE.. I wonder, if there is a possibility to use normal, good quality mics at least for conversation among passengers? I get that there is "authentic" vibe for communication between aircraft and ground control, but it's really painful to listen for an extended period of time. Thanks in advance and good luck. ;)
Hi 😊 Thanks for your feedback. This was our first try of filming a ferry flight, so ofc it wasn't perfect. We're working on improving the sound though. 😊
These vids would be much better if you wouldn't put music in the critical (most interesting) phases of flight. Save the music for when you're at altitude and are about to fast forward to the next approach/landing. Folks want to hear the navigation and atc call-outs, not listen to music that covers them up.
Flatcap007 The early DA42 had an STC to use diesel, but since it is not available at most airports, they mostly burn jet fuel. The DA62 is only approved for jet fuel. Jet fuel is kerosene with some additives for better gel/freeze temperatures and some chemicals to protect metal.
Love the idea of noting the ship's information in case of a ditch! Good airmanship!

This aircraft is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Definately a bucke list item now
Cool video, I’m one of the voices on the radio!
Craig Allan No way!!! How cool is that, from which frequency? 😁😁😁

Loving this series. The DA62 is a great aircraft and what a wonderful trip to be on.

All people involved in any shape or form with aviation are always so nice polite and welcoming, it is a pleasure to watch videos like this

As a former ferry pilot, this brought back many great memories! Looking forward to the rest of the trip!

The videos get better and better. Well done, even from a swede 👍🇩🇰
Hahahahaha dude, mange tak. ;)
Brilliant - Thanks for sharing.
Awesome Video, Its Like a Road Trip But in the Sky❤️. One Day I will have my license and buy this Aircraft ❤️.
Sounds awesome 😊
Great what a nice flight. This must be a fantastic experience to experience this. looking forward to the next leg.

Really enjoying this series.
Very cool, interesting trip and excellent video. Keep posting!
This video becomes VERY EXCITING around 3:30. The pilot is unreasonably calm. He looks like he could have been one of those guys on a rocket to the moon.
Right on the numbers, excellent work!
Now I got a routing to refly in MSFS. :)
Actually flying it right now but the other direction.
I'd love to be able to afford to do stuff like this. So interesting
PIC is great, very experienced
Ohhhhh I will do this one day when I collect my DA62.
At 8:42 I thought I heard "How were the women? Pretty good... pretty good shape too" and was going to recommend that you don't approach Gillette for sponsorship. incredible series very well done
Love these. Good job!
Great video thank you for sharing. What is the music at 19.22? Thanks
Love the video but I have a question. What is meant by (basic service)
great video.......what was the actual flight time Austria to Canada ? thank you !!!
26 hrs air time 😊
@@DiamondAircraftInd thank you very much for all of the replies....very much appreciated !!!
I heard 14 Knots crosswind, not 31 Knots
I scrolled through the comments looking for this one! Thank you.
great vid,,keep up the good work :)
I fly this bird in Xplane! But it must be so much better in real life!
Also better in P3D with the Vertx one
Great video, what is the music at 4min?
Were you guys ferrying two airplanes? That other plane seems to follow you
So, if I buy a new DA62 can I ride with the ferry pilot?
I wonder if the the movie “John Wick” got its name from that airport?
So, the North Sea between Denmark and Scotland is warm enough to survive long enough to inflate and climb into the raft without the suits? Sounds quite uncomfortable still.
Its filled with oil rigs and wind farms , there will by people standing on top of each other to rescue them if they call pan pan
Whats the feel for not having a pressurized cabin ? Thank you again !

What does that mean regular service I live in the United States we don’t hear that here?
Why the 10 minute interval between the two planes?
Einfach super, ich plane im Juni den selben Trip.
I want to fly myself to Iceland!
Can the Diamond go higher than 20,000 feet?
I'm loving these!
The controller at KEF sounds Dutch.
Might want to edit out the massive crosswind limit you claimed to exceed...
just like astronauts in the space shuttle
is there a higher res version coming? 360p pushes it a little.
I think video is still processing
@@m009bt you are right of course
Res also depends upon your net speed if you have it set to the default 'auto'.
Hehe the young guy looks like a young Jay Leno LOL
Suppa Fliaga........ehh kloar !!!
Any xtra fuel tanks?
Nope ;)

Cool video woowww
I thought traveling from one EU country to another didn't require customs and clearing in.
Travel by Land.

This is plane is so sexy! Great video!
Are the police waiting.........Holy snap just for diverting.
They were just there for customs ;)
$1400,000.00 US dollars & it is not pressurized???!!
Safe plane , built better then most planes call dual safety ,
That thing run on diesel

The engine runs in Diesel Cycle, but the fuel is JET A1
Hi nice TRIP , i want to reproduct the same .pln can you give me , to upload from LOAN to destination ?? that will be amazing
:))
why did you screw up the very nice videos with that annoying back ground music "it really sucks"
Disagree
Bla bla
The music is not an enhancement!
