Ahoy everyone!
My name is Nike and I have been living and sailing on my sailboat Karl since 2013. After a massive refit marathon, I finally cast off the lines and learnt to solo sail my 37-foot Reinke Super 10 that I called "Karl". I am publishing videos (at the moment every two weeks) about the ups and downs of living, repairing and sailing my boat.
Since January 2022, I have a new permanent crew member: my furry friend Boga. When I started out, I did not know much about boat repair or solo sailing. Since I am still out there, I hope that my story inspires others, to chase their dreams, even if they might think they are not cut out for it. There is always a way, so I'll see you out there!

Hope to sail Mexico in a year or so. Just getting a divorce and my son is almost an adult. Seems like it's time for me to live a bit.

Change is guaranteed. All things change all the time. It's the inability to gracefully accept these things that brings pain to people.

Reading this just gave me goosebumps. I was a bit worried on how people would take the slightly adjusted course (even though I said I did not want to worry anymore but hey, work in progress rigth? ;)) and it makes my heart glow to see so many here that have been on this jounrey with me for such a long time and that many seem to value what I share. I am in my sixties but still finding that remaining true to myself means setting aside expectations and going with the flow. That often takes you in a slightly different direction than you'd anticipated, but as long as you listen to your heart, and lead with love you'll be just fine. I really appreciate your honesty and will continue to follow you where ever you go.❤
Its a simple concept. Many factors especially weather can effect a cool chillout day. Always good to have that happy food near when spirits are tested.

You brought back memories for me. I spent 2yrs. In Germany 1960 - 1962 while in the Army. A small town named Ettlingen. Beautiful place. Now I get to travel the Caribbean with you again.

Social media is a relatively new phenomenon for human beings, and we're just now beginning to realize how serious the downside is, e.g., ever-increasing rates of depression, widespread misinformation, etc. I have decided to avoid social media, YT, etc., generally-speaking. Being "offline" regularly has wonderful mental health benefits.
I didn’t realize you were from Germany, I was stationed there when I was in the military and loved it there, I was in Baumholder, I have given it many thoughts about moving over there but not sure I want to give up on my sailing adventure. Keep up the good work and I truly look forward to seeing more videos! Good to have you back!

I began watching at a time in my journey where I was stuck with one foot nailed to the ground and was able to find solace in your struggle to build the life your soul desired. Welcome back, I'm a solo sailor in St. Croix dodging Beryl. Had to change my current sailing plans from the Windward Islands to Columbia due to the hurricane season prediction. Will head there in next week but waiting for a weather window.

A few days back I was wondering about your progress on your reflection. I'm also in a period of reflection. I need to find a home base that is more friendly to my queer disabled bones. Home base because I spend much of my time traveling and living in my EV car. I have a bit more space than Nikki Delventhal had in her former Prius.
Oh, longing for community is normal. We ac communal creatures that evolved in small bands of people.

Your mental/physical wellbeing is far more important that a youtube channel. But I will say that many of us love seeing your content.

Its funny, have followed your journey since you found Karl, while there have been many changes (wind shifts?!?), your goals seem to still be there. I'm from W. Michigan, right on the "pond", lol. Even tho I had been a lifelong sailor, I can no longer... So, we live a bit vicariously from your posts & adventures.

It's good to see you back, i'm guessing the snow in Germany means there is some time lag, which is cool. Time lag means you won't get stressed getting regular videos out and less stress is always good.
As for what you were taking about the direction of the videos going in, the reason i tune in is i like to see people having an adventure whether it's an adventure on a sailing boat or an adventure of another sort.
So i'm looking forward to watching some more adventures from you.

Nice to see SV Basik in the same Marina. As "one-week-per-year" sailor only I'm following different sailing channels, interesting is the different take of each crew on arranging with an "onboard lifestyle". Ive thought about doing that here where we dont have a canal system but 2,200 miles of river, that has some history to it.
