Mindy and Chase are excited to show you around their cozy tiny house, named the "Little Lotus." This space is designed with a relaxed, zen vibe, perfect for their lifestyle. From their full-size couch for cozy family nights to their multifunctional furniture, every piece serves at least two purposes to maximize space.
Living Room & Workspace
Their living room doubles as an office and dining area. They have a coffee table that lifts up for ergonomic work and a bistro set where they can stand or sit for meals. They love light, breezy spaces that are easy to maintain, and their furniture, including a storage stool that doubles as a tabletop, reflects that.
Kitchen Essentials
Despite the small size, their kitchen is designed for big cooking and entertaining. It features a full-size propane range, microwave, two-sided sink, and a wallpapered refrigerator for a personalized touch. They prioritized ample storage for their serving ware and cookware, with plenty of space to keep everything organized and within reach.
Bedroom Bliss
The master bedroom in the loft is the largest they've ever had, featuring a king-size bed, extensive clothing storage, and plenty of room for yoga and meditation. Chase’s bedroom downstairs offers him privacy and space for his interests, with room for friends to stay over and plenty of storage for his books and toys.
Spacious Bathroom
Their bathroom, one of the largest they've had, is designed to be both beautiful and functional. It includes a full-size shower with seats, ample storage for linens and toiletries, and a light, airy vibe. They have a full-size toilet and use electricity and propane just like a regular house, ensuring comfort and convenience.
Efficient Hallway
The hallway is incredibly functional, with a full-size stackable washer and dryer, storage for cleaning supplies, and a library area for hats, scarves, and accessories.
Why Tiny Living?
Mindy and Chase transitioned to tiny living to reduce costs and simplify their lives. With a monthly cost of just $1,000, it's cheaper than renting in San Diego, and they enjoy the added benefits of a yard and a close-knit community. Their journey into tiny living was made easier by finding a pre-designed tiny home on a lot with all utilities set up. It was a perfect solution for their needs.

Cody, that's called a trundle bed. I grew up on one. Except it had a steel frame, and if flipped a lever, thst came up to full bed height.
They used to be very popular.

This house is so cute. A lot of tiny homes have so much character compared to a “regular” size home usually they are so bland inside with no life to them.
Didn't used to be that way. A lot of old houses are full of character.

I absolutely love the layout. It looks huge in there. I look at thousands of tiny homes. This one is incredible. I’m proud of you Mom for giving your son a home. He’s a sweetheart very secure and what he likes and what he doesn’t like. I can’t believe the lot rent is $1000 thoughthat seems so high and you know the lot rent gonna keep going up you’re gonna have to have a side hustle

Mom gets to feel like a kid again in her loft. I’d love a loft to turn into a Movie watching room. I really wish states would start allowing tiny houses neighborhoods so you can own your own land. In this housing market that would make the most sense.

I actually liked this lay out. Was the loft by ladder or staircase? I couldn't tell for sure. Also, his art is awesome! He has a lot of talent.

I can't recall the last time during my entire life time I heard a kid say, "I very much enjoy". They use other words to describe that sort of feeling.
@@TheGenericavatar I've taught kids from 5 years old up through 14 years old. A lot of kids I've taught, including the Kindergartners, have a more sophisticated way of talking than adults might expect. That often comes from the kids being around adults who talk to the kids like they're adults, not dumbing down their speech like the kids are still little babies. My Kindergartners would get in political arguments (it was an election year) that sometimes would actually sound pretty well-informed! They were obviously just parroting back what they heard their parents say, but still, they were speaking in a way that a lot of people might not expect a 5-year-old to speak.

I agree. My plan is to move downstairs into the bedroom when I’m older and my son grows up and Moves out. 👍🏼 gotta save the knees and back later in life. For now, it keeps me limber! 🙌🏼😅

Does the bird fly around or do you mean you sit the cage outside? I think it's great they get fresh air daily, but it would be nice if the cage that the bird spends most of the day in could be much larger. Nice that you rescued it

Seems like a comfortable space but the bird cage is way too small! Those look like finches and finches need a lot of space. The lack of privacy in the master loft would be so concerning if the mother ever has a partner over.

The cats and birds are lovely companions too😻😻🐦🐦. And the green space outside with bonus of a like minded community is a wonderful vibe✨💫✨. And for SoCal, I KNOW $1900 is actually a great deal currently...especially when you consider your view is nature and not littered city streets and other pack and stack high rise corporate rip off condos /apts. or tightly clustered h.o.a. annoying townhomes.
