Thank you (again) for your unique sailing channel. It has a quality that none of the others quite match. And a special thanks to Amy for sharing her personal story of how she grew up loving sailing in that locale. Your parents gave you a gift of infinite value. I am writing this email from Ganges, Saltspring Island in the Gulf Islands of British Columbia, Canada where we are currently moored while on our summer cruise north from our home in Friday Harbor (in the San Juan Islands of Washington State, USA). Once again we are (loosely) following the track of Capt. George Vancouver north to the Inside Passage. Vancouver served with Capt. Cook of course, who also explored the North Pacific Coast. I grew up on Whidbey Island in Washington State, so your visit to Whitby near Amy's childhood home was very interesting. I'm looking forward to your adventure circumnavigating the UK and Irelandd, and your future northern adventures. Hopefully, at some point you will visit the North Pacific coast of North America. "Once you have been to Alaska, you never come all the way back."
Always different, this is a channel I truly appreciate for many reasons.....professional quality on every level. I love the way you take care of Florence and she you. I alove that you didnt just put her away for another boat! I have seen sights with you guys that I would never have opportunity to see otherwise. Tho I was a sailor of sorts, my days are limited now by age and circumstance...I want you three to know how much what you share means to me...thank you! I AM GRATEFUL.
Random thoughts while watching this episode: Florence looks like a brand new boat Wow those new windows Amy should create a course to teach other sailing channels how to capture the sea state What a cool childhood of Amy’s her parents sound amazing Whitby is firmly on my must visit list for my next trip to uk (last one was 1997) still dreaming How can it be this channel doesn’t have half a million subscribers thanks all you patrons for keeping them up and running for us
Totally agree, by far the best sailing channel on YT and I don't understand why subscriber numbers are many hundred K ,if not one million+. Someday ...
I can't explain it. Perhaps it's symbolic of a life well-lived. But in my younger years I found it deeply satisfying to plough through those wind and wave conditions in a sailboat. Thanks for filming it so well as to trigger fond memories.
I'm so glad the refit schedule pushed you to this itinerary. This scale shakedown is so good for everything and for those of us not acquainted with the area, wonderful scenery. Congratulations and thank you!!
As I watched this video, I couldn't help but think of Susan and Eric Hiscock, comparing them to you and your voyages. I began reading the Hiscock's books in the early 70s and even to this day, I still own their books and occassionaly re-read them. It's definitely a different world today given modern GPS, satellite communications, radar, space-age sails and sailing equipment, and boat design and construction. In their own way, they were true adventurers but that takes nothing away from your accomplishments for which you are to be congratulated and admired. Thank for sharing your adventures.....at 71 years old in a way I live through you, continuing to singlehanded sail my 42' Beneteau along the northern coast of the Gulf of Mexico. Again, thank you.
This was quite a nostalgic video for me, as I left the Norfolk Coast (Sheringham where I was born), as a boy in 1958, but I can still vividly remember the coastal path, which my brother and I explored, the local ruined abbey and the 12th century church at Beeston. We used to climb Incleburgh, the highest point in Norfolk and look out to sea, I imagine that the view is full of windfarms now. I now live about as far away from there as I can get, in New Zealand, but of course we have the connection to Captain Cook, who actually named the area where I live. A great video for an old bloke to get sentimental over!
Well guys, that was a blast from the past. I'm Australian, I live in West Aus but I've been to England a few times, the last time, I travelled up that way I visited Whitby and loved it, and the Dales. That was a long time ago, early seventies and I'm getting on a bit now but still hanging in there, building my fifth boat, can't seem to help myself. So thanks for that. Stay salty and keep safe.
Lovely to see coast and villages of UK. Your photo grab of the misty surf near end of video is exquisite .. really professional photography. Fair winds and following seas ..
I love your videos, so well put together, never a dull moment, and I especially love how you show your sailing techniques with explanations. You are both truly genuine and your vlogs are a breath of fresh air. Looking forward to another season ❤
Fabulous video, as always. Not sure what was more heart warming - seeing Filey Bay and all those great photos from Amy's childhood, or seeing Matt's delight at his first ice cream of the trip. Oh, OK, I am sure, there were a few tears welling up with the trip down memory lane. Florence is looking incredibly sharp too!
I had the opportunity to visit the UK from the states about 25 years ago. We were in Wales and southern England. Had a wonderful time and met many very friendly people. I would love to visit the coastal areas if I get to come back and now Whitby is at the top of the list.
Way down here in New Zealand I follow many channels from yachts to explorer m/v but from day one this has been my absolute favorite, Matt and Amy have a natural talent in narrating their vlogs and its been fantastic watching them grow over the yrs, keep up the great vlogs guys this 67yr old absolutely loves these
I have to say that your sang-froid when confronted by severe conditions at sea gives me so much confidence with my own, albeit single-handed sailing here in Asia .. the message you give out is have confidence in your skills and your boat .. there never seems to be any element of panic( well onscreen anyway) .. loving your trip round the UK, I have been an ex-pat for nearly 40 years and you are making me quite homesick …brilliant filming, narrative and music as always .. so many thanks !
After all your tropical destinations I love to see you sail the waters I know so well myself. Including the ports and wind-against-tide. Fair winds to Florence!
Matt and Amy, we are so happy for you both, a refit can be very frustrating, but now you are back on the water, as with us our happy place. To also be able to visit childhood places, wow that must have been full of beautiful memories. Bye the way Matt thanks for giving me the urge for icecream. Take care and stay safe.
Another great video! It's nice to see Florence sailing again. Also it's good for you both to be enjoying your life and not doing major repairs and maintenance. But I know it's a continuous thing on a sailboat ⛵️. Safe travels from the east coast of Canada 🇨🇦
Amy, thank you for the glimpse into your childhood. How special to see the place where dreams and passion were born. As someone who is old enough to be your parent I can say with certainty that your father (and mother) are so proud of you and the adult you have become. ❤
It's pleasant to return to your sailing adventures as they are very much down to water and low key but also rather tutorial which is good for the curiosity of a sailors mind. Never stop learning. Never stop exploring. It will be a thrill to follow you in these waters as it is a dream to sail to me. Happy sailing.
I follow 8 different sailing channels, y'alls is without a doubt a SAILING channel y'all are what sailing is about! Love it? God Bless from Texas 🇺🇸❤️👌
Amy, your childhood memories are similar to mine, yet at 74 with COPD my sailing days are limited to Georges Pond where we have a camp and I teach our grandchild to sail a Laser. I miss the Atlantic and find your episode's time and again refreshing those years spent as a US Merchant Captain. Just top notch cinematography and editing. We are anxious to see your tour around the islands.
Gawd , the North Sea even in the finest 37 footer. Head south. Thanks for showing the memorial to Captain Cook. Any sailor, regardless, would hold him in the highest esteem. You are both wearing puffer jackets. Never had much time for them as Canadians ( or Canadiens) insisted that the stitching be staged for best insulation. Thanks so much for your many beautiful videos.
Harrrr, a Yorkshire lass. That young man does no know how lucky he is. Filey too. Excellent choice for training. I've followed your channel for quite some time. Enjoy & best wishes.
I love learning about and seeing the beautiful ports of England and the UK. I am so grateful for you both and looking forward to following you on your adventures. Possibly the greatest Love Story ever Told Told. Matt and Amy never being far apart. Best Wishes from the Pacific Northwest USA.
Nice vlog.Did my Clipper RTW sailing training in North &Irish seas round Scotland where often tough headwinds with lots of sail changes but that what is all about.Enjoy😊
Your videos are second to none and it’s great to have you sailing again. Florence is looking amazing and thanks for sharing Amy’s wonderful family insight.
Absolutely fantastic! Loved every minute of this, so beautifully filmed and presented, thank you! Now on to the next one, love you guys, (and England!), cheers!
Your ability to navigate rough seas with determination and humor is truly impressive! You bring a sense of adventure and resilience to every sailing journey, turning challenges into stories of courage and perseverance. And I'm Floating Village Life.
Been following Florence from the beginning. Live the technical details of sailing and life on board a yacht. Like your combined knowledge base. Love the fact you can keep your clothes on and still get your point across. So looking forward to this passage! Video seen 6/7/24 in Australia.
Love that new dramatic camera angle available to you out the leeward deadlight now that you have new ones. I have my new ones but am anxious to do the job so they remain packaged up while I stare through crushed ice. Seeing the benefits in yours provides me some motivation to move that up the list!!
Thank you again, a wonderful showing of sailing around the UK. I've followed you around the world and you do a magnificent job of keeping interest and satisfaction.
Great video as always. Total sympathy with weather patterns just completed circumnavigation of Ireland and wind headed us all the way around! Looking forward to your Scotland vids. You will not be disappointed. Rick SY eXehibitionist. (Based Oban)
Ha Ha !! Welcome to sailing around the UK ! We'll all be looking forward to your adventures tackling the tides of the western Isles in Autumn. :>) Great to have you back !!
Lovely to see my (and Amy's apparently) home coastline shown off. Definitely made me a bit homesick and wishing I had the time to sail up to Whitby myself. Loved the shot of the waves looking up towards Sandsend (I think it was)
Super video guys and great to see the 3 of you in harmony again if not a little bumpy! Ah Yorkshire, all the best ones come from Yorkshire, says fellow Yorkshiremen (born in Ilkley). Looking forward to the next video. Safe travels and happy sailing.
There are many sailing/boat building channels on YT, I follow some, watch their videos on regular basis. You're not the biggest, most popular, but you are the best in photography. Almost all of your episodes contains one or two shots which puts every other channel at shame - this episode no exception.
No one does it better than the two of you on Florence. Absolutely breathtaking scenery, history, locals, and sailing. Thanks for sharing. 🍦
AGREED!!

Best sailing couple on RUclips!
About time you married that lovely girl Matt ❤
Parents built the boats and sails.. now I see where both come from! Great upbringing.
Lovely to get a wonderful glimpse of the British coastline and villages
An incredible channel, wonderful childhood. Seems you were destined to sail the oceans
Absolutely the best sailing channel! Sailing is a massive part of their DNA.

So good to see you sailing!🙏
It is so good to see Florence looking like a new boat. Everything looks shiny and ready for some new adventures.
Excellent photography and content. Your love of sailing shines through in your vlogs. Proper sailing channel and I respect you both for it.
Amy thanks for taking us on a brief visit to where your love of sailing first took hold. I'm really enjoying your trip around the UK.
I am currently cruising the Queensland Coastbin Australia. Watching you two sail Florence is such a joy. A sailing channel with real sailors.
It’s great to see you two back out sailing! 🥂✔️⛵️🥂 … and the brief detour to Amy’s childhood home waters.
This is beautifully made, thank you.

What a marvelous and adventurous childhood you had Amy. How very fortunate you are. ❤
I'm so glad to see you clip yourself on before doing anything on the deck!
I really love it when you guys show the actual sailing like at 5:30 mark. It's nice seeing real skill.
Matt and Amy, we are so happy for you both, a refit can be very frustrating, but now you are back on the water, as with us our happy place. To also be able to visit childhood places, wow that must have been full of beautiful memories. Bye the way Matt thanks for giving me the urge for icecream.

Not to be a fanboy 🥰 but visually the content and narration of your story are inspiring❤, ! wish you well.
Nuuttin wrong with being a fan boy.. lol. I'm a fan old lady and we recognize quality and class when we see it right? 😊
Whitby - also famous for where Dracula berthed and ultimately entered England.
Brilliant cinematography in this episode!!
A truly authentic couple and inspirational too (as compared to FAUX ATTICUS) 😂
Another great video! It's nice to see Florence sailing again. Also it's good for you both to be enjoying your life and not doing major repairs and maintenance. But I know it's a continuous thing on a sailboat ⛵️. Safe travels from the east coast of Canada 🇨🇦
So glad you're showing us this part of the world! Loving your channel more and more as time goes on!
Filey is also a place that I have very fond memories of, for different reasons! Lovely to hear about your childhood sailing experiences.
Amy, thank you for the glimpse into your childhood. How special to see the place where dreams and passion were born. As someone who is old enough to be your parent I can say with certainty that your father (and mother) are so proud of you and the adult you have become. ❤

Superb editing. So many cuts! You told a great story. Thank you.

Florence looks great under sail, even through the 'roughers'! What an awesome place to learn to sail, the North Sea and all its challenges.
Love the story and insight you give us on the UK coastal sailing.
Looks amazing. I was in Bingley in 1992 and it was wonderful. Awesome food.
Super to watch your progress. Looking forward to the next.
I think I'm going to really enjoy this trip around the UK. Nice.
If this is any indication of what is to come then much to look forward to. Particularly enjoy the historical references. Well crafted video.
Beautiful area to wait a couple of days for some favorite winds thanks for sharing I love this adventure
Nice vlog.Did my Clipper RTW sailing training in North &Irish seas round Scotland where often tough headwinds with lots of sail changes but that what is all about.Enjoy😊
Something new. Love it ❤. Dream away 🎉.
Proper seaman and woman if your not bouncing around and loving it should not get a boat. Thank you for showing a great sail.
The refurbed boat looks so good! Better than some brand new ones I've seen.
Your videos are second to none and it’s great to have you sailing again. Florence is looking amazing and thanks for sharing Amy’s wonderful family insight.
Amy returns to Yorkshire. Welcome back from a Yorkshireman, in the Philippines .
Absolutely fantastic! Loved every minute of this, so beautifully filmed and presented, thank you! Now on to the next one, love you guys, (and England!), cheers!
Thanks for another outstanding episode. Your videography is the best!
