Rimworld: The Sapper Trapper 9000

- How it works: Sappers will always path to avoid turrets, even if it means going through walls. So basically, if you can surround your entire base with turret coverage except for ONE spot, the sappers will almost always try to go there, and then you can just build a tunnel like this full of traps and mines.
Not the most efficient but certainly the coolest killbox Ive ever seen.
only flaw i see is that its not randy proof (you can get another raid right after)
The raider in the middle must be like
"Dont you guy's smell like chemfuel?"
🎉🎉🎉🎉💀
When you REALLY hate sappers
Then you get another raid immediately after
Well, can't trust randy
@@sairam3978 Aye, this kind of thing can only be viable when playing with Cassandra or Phoebe, you'll get enough time to rebuild it before the next raid comes in.
@@wolfen210959maybe, but it happened to me , while i was fighting pirates, the deserters drop pod into the base , i just alt f4 the game.
@@sairam3978 thats sad man
@@sairam3978 heck, when you get the VE deserter mod, they literally show up randomly and tried to assassinated your royalty out of nowhere xD
I did not see that coming 😂
Neither did the raiders.

For the people saying "Inefficient", who cares bro. By the time you get to late game, you try/ want to find ways to burn resources so to me this is golden! Very creative and beautiful my friend. 10/10
It's inefficient because the only ied that actually dealt damage was the first one to be set off. Bombs can't deal damage beyond a wall/door. Meaning the walls/doors separating the hallway and the bombs absorbed all the bomb damage for the explosions dealing 0 to everyone in the hallway. The explosions did nothing but damage his own buildings so I'd say that's inefficient. Plus late game rather than resources what you want is efficiency in prep time. You will deal with so many raids late game and it will just be a pain setting this up every single time.
Watch the video again in slowmotion and u will se that every single bomb dealt dmg.@@nak8269
@@nak8269 Agreed, terrible waste of resources, it was fun to watch though. Would have done better just using a burn box, or even a conventional killbox. People hate on killboxes all the time, but they are the best way to deal with raiders. Miniguns are just terrible in any kind of killbox though, too much splash damage.
@@nak8269 come on man, the other IEDs weren't to do damage, they were to make the walls disappear so his pawns could fire on them! Although I do agree only one row of IEDs on the near side so the raiders can't escape as easily would have been more ideal
@@Mike__B If I had to guess, blowing up both sides were meant to trigger the roof collapsing to hit any potential survivors. But some doors somewhow survived keeping the roof up. lol
I was worried about the crops next to it, but 10/10 that was beautiful.
That poor puppy got caught in the blast XD
I didnt even realise 🤣🤣🤣🤣
1:29 "Oh hi doggy!"
Also, totally underrated video.
Beautiful. Love the roof collapse touch.
Chef's kiss.
A work of art, well done
after watching I feel like it should be renamed to the Sapper Clapper 9000. I feel like the sappers were much more than just trapped
Thats crazy. I would've never thought of that.
It would cost to rebuild. But the result totally worth it.
Woah that was actually badass havent seen that one before
I lost my dog the other day. I hope some nice people adopt him and treat him nicely.
Cool, but I'd add a colapsing roof on top of that
The roof is meant to collapse, but for some reason a few of the doors survive, so it stays up.
@@vaporo355doors 1:40 don't take damage from explosions if open granted they were closed
I assume something happened with that
poor puppy walked right into it
get this man a raise
I've never seen anything so beautiful.
cool rimworld videos from dudes with 20 subs, gotta be one of my favorite genders
WERE ALMOST IN LADS! VICTORY IS OU-
Can you better explain this? I tried this and the sappers did not go for it, does it need to attach to a barracks?
You need to cover your entire base with turret cover except for 1 spot which leads into your bedrooms. Then they MIGHT go for it. Lot of luck involved with where on the map they spawn. To really do this right you'd probably need to build one of these for each side of your base.
Sappers will treat any tile that can be shot at by a turret as something to avoid. They'd rather walk 10 normal tiles than 1 than can be shot at by a turret. So turrets create zones sappers will try to avoid, within limits.
Combine this with concrete paths (faster walk speed) to the entry points you want sappers to use.
You played an uno reverse card on the sappers.
Can you show us that base so we know how far away to place the turrets?
It's like watching dominos
I like that ur people look almost like mine, got a couple soldiers on duty then everyone else in that devilstrand
@dungeonmaster_7256 who doesnt want enhanced raids? I ignore all that stuff. I get what i want and deal with what comes aslong as my base looks cool and we got cool stuff u can send as big an army u want :)
@dungeonmaster_7256 Killboxes aren't cheating, corner punch and singularity is almost like cheating, but this is a single player game, no cheating of any kind is possible. Cheesing is a thing though, manipulating the AI to send raiders where you want them to go, keeping your wealth low to keep raid strength low, one powered turret can even draw drop pod raids out of your main base, these are all viable options. Some people advocate for meeting your enemies in the field, which is fine if you outrange them, but isn't a viable option at the start of the game, when you have poor weapon choices. Trap tunnels will keep you safe, for a while, until the heavily armoured units show up, then the value of a well designed killbox is brought to bear, killing the raiders and keeping your pawns safe is the main aim.
Devilstrand has it's uses, but it's a double edged sword, as you pointed out, it can vastly increase your wealth, but does give very good protection when paired with a flak vest, but it's still cheaper than marine armour, depending on the quality.
Are mini guns better than charge rifles for large raids?
oh my god, that was beautiful
Imma actually use this for my maps now
yeah, seems to be working just fine
Как же это красиво! Надеюсь когда нибудь и сам смогу построить такое
ooookie thats just ART !!!
How come they attack that specific piece of wall?
Because that part of walls don't have turret cover behind it, that why they tried to destroy that part and went inside.
how do you make sure how would they come at that direction?
Satisfying
I don't understand: why do you need a tree farm on a map full of trees?
.
Я не понимаю: зачем нужна ферма деревьев на карте, где полно деревьев?
Inefficient but coool...
Poor doggo ;(
it so beautiful, i think i gonna cry
Total chad
no auto repair broken buildings on?????????
What the dog doing?
Was it always there or did you know sappers were gonna raid?
thats have a name and its death row
How many devilstring u need bro? 💀
Probably all of it, for armchairs. :)
I was going to say "a more efficient way of dealing with sappers is to not have so much devilstrand that increases your base value so raids are larger" but that firecracker like payoff was kind of worth it. Although rebuilding won't be fun, is there an auto-rebuild mod? Or is that something in the new patch?
The auto re-build has been around for years, don't you know it? O_o
@@kl9686 no, because it's not a mod I use.
@@Mike__B it's not a mod, it's the auto-rebuild in home area setting. I forgot it existed until recently, it's great.
How do you force them to go there?
how did u know they would go in that way?
doggo D;
Suuuuper expensive solution
Not really. Wood gathers and builds quickly, and I fire more mortar shells against mech clusters than OP uses for IED's.
considering he has 50k in metallic resources, a new colony probably spends a bigger percentage of their wealth building wood traps
ok, so how did you get them to target that specific spot?
The game maps out all parts of the map where a breacher would immediately be shot by a turret if they breached through. This is intended to help the breachers not go to parts where they'd be shredded because a player put loads of turrets there, instead targetting weakly defended parts of the base.
Put turrets around your base, positioned so that all your walls are covered, except where you want them to go through. Then turn that spot into a death trap, like the one featured above.
similar to leaving an open door to a killbox that leads into my base? I have found turrets to be kind of useless so I stopped using them. Thank you for the response.@@jimothyworldbuilding3664
@@jimothyworldbuilding3664 This, you can even manipulate them to walk right into your killbox.
