    Nice highlight video. Douglas had all the tools of a great heavyweight, unfortunately his desire didn't match his boxing skills. But he put it all together in Tokyo against Tyson.

      He never had the desire because he never wanted to be boxer. It was his only way to get closer to his father.

    Great highlights video. We can clearly see that Buster had the size, strength, speed, and skills to be a great heavyweight. He just needed the motivation to go out and take it, to gut it out. That’s what separates the A+ players from the A players.
    Here he didn’t have that motivation.
    But in Tokyo, oh boy, did he ever!
    I’ve watched the Douglas-Tyson fight at least a hundred times. It’s one of the most motivational things ever captured on film. Especially Round 9 when Douglas turned it all around after getting knocked down at the end of Round 8.
    There have been times in my life when I was like Douglas at the end of Round 8. And then it’s “OK boy, you got knocked down. Are you going to stay down or are you going to get up and win this?”

      @GreatMewtwo 2 года назад +1

      I was recently reading about the situations Tucker went through during the late 1980s and 90s. Tony Tucker, I feel, was so slept on that even Michael Spinks and George Foreman would have rather been stripped than defend their titles against him. In fact, the fight he had here against Buster Douglas was so ordered by the IBF because Spinks wouldn't take him as a mandatory; Spinks was standing to make more money from a fight with Gerry Cooney, even as he risked getting stripped of the title.
