Douglas actually had a lot of talent. He just wasn’t always that motivated or disciplined. He beat McCall who later knocked out Lewis. He also was winning against Tucker before Tucker wore him down. If you watch some of Douglases fight you could see he had the potential to beat someone like Tyson. The question was always his motivation and which version of Douglas would show up. He was actually underestimated and underrated. A motivated version of Douglas was actually a dangerous fighter. Was still an amazing upset when he beat Tyson, but Douglas was more of a world-class fighter then people give him credit for.

Douglas had a beautiful beautiful.follow thru with that right hand and McCall always a warrior. It's funny how two underrated and underestimated fighters could throw some Real Leather

The big problem in Douglas, which you did not notice, is that he is only an attack boxer and does not know anything but punches, and you talk about Tyson and repeat a word of loss and did not watch the fight, and that Tyson dropped Douglas easily and saved him the bell. There was one mistake that Tyson underestimated Douglas and did not train well and thought Douglas would fall easily and actually fell easily and the bell saved him and in the other rounds, he only fired punches, and in return Tyson received, if to say, a lucky punch that dropped him.
Unfortunately, there was no second match due to Tyson going to prison, and if it was definitely going to crush Douglas, because Tyson at that time, if he trained well, he would not be defeated by a boxer who does not know how to defend.
Douglas is a boxer who lacks skill and is weak in defense and in the world rankings, no one can remember him. Even in this fight, McCall was regularly shooting and his defense is strong and I think he is much better than Douglas.

@@user-nw4ds7ql1r I don't know which version of Tyson-Douglas you watched, but it does'nt sound like the one that actually happened. Watch the fight with the sound turned off and you will see that Douglas gave Tyson a systematic beating right from the start, he wore Tyson down and then floored him. Tyson was not well prepared and there are no excuses for that. If anyone landed a lucky punch it was Tyson in the 8th. Whether the bell saved Douglas from being stopped is a matter of opinion, he was motivated for the fight and had his senses when he got to his feet.

    • @user-nw4ds7ql1r

@@billcollins6705 The only thing I can answer on this topic is there is no comparison between Tyson and Douglas.
And if you want to talk about this , you must look at it from all angles, not just the boxing match that brought together Tyson and Douglas.
For example, start by comparing the strong boxers who fell easily against Tyson, such as Berbick, Holmes, Spinks, Don Halpin, Henry Tillman, Frank Bruno, and the list is long. Then, after that, enter Douglas' name in front of some of those, and you will find he lost to most of them.
Tyson would not have lost to Douglas, and the matter was almost certain was orchestrated

@@user-nw4ds7ql1r Styles make fights. Just because A beats B, and B beats C, does'nt mean that A automatically beats C. I watched Tyson v Douglas live, and in spite of the controversy afterwards I thought that Douglas had given Tyson a real beating, it was'nt a lucky or controversial win. Anyone can lose at any time. Douglas was ready, Tyson was not.

That's a boxing match and I think the older generation (Tyson, Mc Call, Holyfield, Lennox, Razor, Holmes etc;) are significantly better than the current generation. Each of them would have beaten all these current champion (Joshua, Fury, Wilder etc.). This is my point of view. Watch their battles and those of many times you will know why I am saying this.

The older generation is far more skilled then the current generation. The current generation is simply bigger. I think all the guys you mentioned would chop down the current generation. I think the main guy who would hold up would be Furry, as he has boxing skills and also mental toughness. He wouldn’t be the top guy though as he is now.

It would have been nice to see Tyson fight and beat any more than decent fighter. He tended to avoid top contenders in a career spanning three decades. No McCall fight and no Mercer, Bowe, Witherspoon, Tua, Morrison, Rahman, Klitschko, or Moorer. And yet he found time to fight Bruno twice and the likes of Bruce Seldon.
A career spent beating up cabbies and relics from the 1970s.

Can someone answer that for me. Is it just the fact they are a bit bigger today and just can't coordinate the size. Look at tyson fury gor example. He's arguably the best of the bunch.
