The reason being, Lewis was the busier fighter and out worked/out landed Holyfield in both fights, although Holyfield had his moments here and there, it's clear Lewis one both contests tbh.
Lennox's uppercut is what separated him from so many other heavyweight giants. Most of them could throw 1-2s no problem but struggled to fight on the inside once their opponents got in close. Lewis on the other hand would absolutely punish swarmers with that powerful and accurate uppercut, keeping them honest and at bay from wanting to go in too recklessly

Ali could too he was known for his reflexes and sperm but u look at the shots he took , unbelievable Hart and chin hollyfield was just like it, top man and top fighter.

If Holyfield was five years younger he would have rocked Lewis. He still put up a hell of a fight and Lewis was in his prime. Evander was so fun to watch. He had the most beautiful punching style and his combinations were so pretty
so why was he so afraid to engage Mike with his combinations? Instead he was hugging and headbuttin. He thought he can get a clear win with headbuttin for the second time. Lol Dude was the real meal.
@@TeacherFlash stick to anatomy cuz you clearly know nothing about boxing. Holyfield whooped your boy twice, mike Tyson was as dirtiest as it gets and nobody says a thing, now sit down you bum
Dude... that's what fighters do when they are hurt, they smile... watch any fight of the week and everybody knows (even commentators mention it). I'm not saying he didn't hit back, but he was hurt...
Luis T it was bias commentary ... in reality Lewis was only ever " Hurt " by McCall with a punch he threw with his eyes shut, Lucky? i think so... and Rahman, who got lucky because Lewis didnt take him seriously and was filming " Oceans whatever " so didnt train properly... see the rematches for confirmation on these FACTS..
Lucky has nothing to do with it, if you don't prepare or allow yourself to get knocked out by somebody with his eyes closed that's on you... I've seen them, a dozen of times, you can say Lewis over trained, under trained, didn't take it serious, but he still got knocked out. Just cuz he won the rematches doesn't take away that he got knocked out... Those are FACTS...
Luis T Lewis wasn't hurt once in that fight. If you think just because he smiled it means he was hurt I don't know what to say. My point was about the biased commentary which judging by your answer you gladly sup up with a straw. I box so I don't need some aged commentator that has never thrown a punch in his life to tell me anything about the sport. If you are rocked the last thing you think of is smiling. If anything it means you landed a good shot, the smile means it wasn't good enough.
@@PalmTreeSniper only ones that were great you mentioned was Tyson and Holyfield. Tyson was out of his prime and boxing for money and Holyfield was doing the same. Lennox Lewis reached his prime at an older age than Tyson tho they were a year apart. Tyson just had got out of prison, had no good training and heart just wasnt in it anymore.
2 of my favourite boxers of all time. I'm British and was a follower of Lewis but always wanted Holyfield to win.. Wish they met when both were in their prime...
Lewis is criminally underrated. He beat every man he ever fought and his longevity was remarkable. 1. Ali 2. Lewis 3. Tyson Best 1-2 combination: 1. Ali 2. Hearns 3. Lewis
Tyson above Holyfield?? How? Holyfield had a better resume, BEAT Tyson twice, and never ducked people the way Tyson did. Tyson ducked Foreman, Lewis, and Holyfield in the early 90's. Holyfield is above Tyson and i don't even see how it's debatable.
@Let there be Peace On God's Earth Tyson doesn't "stand out" over Holyfield to me, just because Tyson knocked out a lot of mediocre and washed up boxers doesn't mean he's better than Holyfield man. Holyfield was as his nickname said, "The Real Deal", he never ducked or dodged, never backed down, and beat Tyson twice. The man's resume speaks for itself. There's no legit reason for Tyson to be ranked over him.
@@orlanzo2621 Wrong. Tyson didn't duck Holyfield. He went to prison. Tyson was past his prime by 4 years when they fought. Tyson peaked in 87-90 because he was a much more busier fighter than Holyfield. So much busier at a young age that Tyson has as many KOs as Holyfield has wins. Also, Tyson is the only Heavyweight in history to earn ALL 3 BELTS to become UNDISPUTED CHAMPION!.
Mr. B No I’m RIGHT, Tyson had an “injury” and had to pull out of the fight they were going to have in the early 90’s, and THEN he went to prison afterwards. Holyfield had to chase him down to even get that fight set up in the first place. Here’s an article talking about Tyson pulling out of the fight. www.nytimes.com/1991/10/19/sports/boxing-fight-s-off-tyson-suffers-an-injury-to-rib-cage.html And please don’t mention “peak” or anything like that because Holyfield was more shot than Tyson when they met in ‘96, which is why Tyson was actually FAVORED to win the fight. Holyfield looked questionable in his fights leading up to the Tyson fight and people were saying he was too washed to beat someone like Tyson. He had been through more quality competition than Tyson in his career (Bowe x3, Foreman, Mercer, etc) and was also 4 years older. He was definitely no longer prime Holyfield. Meanwhile Tyson was dominating everyone they put in front of him after he got out of prison and looked unstoppable.
Come on Lewis!! YEAHH. I always knew he would win. Nobody at that time could take him on. Looking back, great fight from the real deal. Lewis is my man! Love from Texas !!

Lewis was the best of his generation, the one before it and the one after it too. Generation Rank: Lewis-Bowe-Tyson-Holyfield Lewis never ducked. Holyfield will stand out as the only true warrior of this exciting era of boxing. In all of his fights he goes toe to toe with every opponent, throws combinations in the last round as if its the 1st, and keeps going in for the brawl. A testament to boxing and the most exciting fights ever.

Holyfield was on steroids.

Good God Holyfield could take a beating like nobody I have ever seen. Both great fighters here.

Lewis was probably the most complete boxer of all time. A different class. Perfect physical predispositions + skill + intelligence. Evander was probably the bravest boxer of all time. My favourite. No one would stay on their feet for all 12 rounds after so many clean shots. Only Holyfield! Real Lion.
How his nose doesn't get messed unlike many other boxers?
I respect Evender Holyfield. He's a legend.
A cheat
Everyone knows the first fight won by Lewis far in points
This one of the most epic skilled evenly matched fights I ever seen

Evander had to be Lennox's 2 toughest fights. Even though I thought Lennox won both fights, he just couldn't dominate Evander like he did others. In my belief I thought the second fight was more closer to a draw than the first one.
Vitali klichko
@@iamtheshadows4916 Ray Mercer
Lennox said that Ray Mercer was his toughest fight but Evander was the toughest fighter.
Jeez holifield was surely a beast in the ring..non stop puncher..much respect to him.we need more like that 👏
If Holyfield was five years younger he would have rocked Lewis.
@@TeacherFlash stfu tyson lost fair and square
@@TeacherFlash stick to anatomy cuz you clearly know nothing about boxing. Holyfield whooped your boy twice, mike Tyson was as dirtiest as it gets and nobody says a thing, now sit down you bum
Every time Holyfield lands a shot " Lewis is hurt!" "Lewis is wobbled!!" LOL In reality Lewis smiles and lands 3 of his own.
Dude... that's what fighters do when they are hurt, they smile... watch any fight of the week and everybody knows (even commentators mention it). I'm not saying he didn't hit back, but he was hurt...
Luis T
it was bias commentary ... in reality Lewis was only ever " Hurt " by McCall with a punch he threw with his eyes shut, Lucky? i think so... and Rahman, who got lucky because Lewis didnt take him seriously and was filming " Oceans whatever " so didnt train properly... see the rematches for confirmation on these FACTS..
Luis T
Bla Bla BS..
Man Lennox was an amazing boxer. Dude had great skill for a heavyweight. Arguably the best British fighter in my opinion.
The first fight has to be one of the biggest robberies in history, the judges had to be bought.

Lennox Lewis fought all the greats when they were old.
@@PalmTreeSniper weren't any of them you listed were great but Tyson. And Tyson was out of his prime at the time Lewis fought him.
I almost forgot how good these two fights were....thanks for putting em up
2 of my favourite boxers of all time. I'm British and was a follower of Lewis but always wanted Holyfield to win.. Wish they met when both were in their prime...
Lewis is criminally underrated. He beat every man he ever fought and his longevity was remarkable.
1. Ali
2. Lewis
3. Tyson
Best 1-2 combination:
1. Ali
2. Hearns
3. Lewis
What 'bout Foreman?
Here’s an article talking about Tyson pulling out of the fight. www.nytimes.com/1991/10/19/sports/boxing-fight-s-off-tyson-suffers-an-injury-to-rib-cage.html
And please don’t mention “peak” or anything like that because Holyfield was more shot than Tyson when they met in ‘96, which is why Tyson was actually FAVORED to win the fight. Meanwhile Tyson was dominating everyone they put in front of him after he got out of prison and looked unstoppable.

have to give it to holyfield after coming back from heart problems. he really does have a lot of heart. you got to give the man his due respect.

Lewis was the only boxer to beat every fighter in his era. Would have been great ro see the Bowe fight also, if Bowe hadn't bottled it. Lewis has a better boxing record than Tyson, Bowe, and Holyfield put together. ✌🏾
@@visothtarakouk1802 Talking nonsense. Lewis never beaten by the same man twice, Tyson & Holyfield BOTH were. Look at the records. Lewis is amongst the TOP 5 GREATEST HW's EVER: Ali, Louis, Foreman, Holmes & Lewis. At his peak, Lewis-Tyson would have been interesting but probably similar outcome to Ali-Frazier II & III. I wished Lewis fought Holyfield much earlier and he would have comfortably beaten Holyfield. Lewis became more risk averse and cautious in his twilight years. Lewis was the best of his generation, the one before it and the one after it too. Generation Rank: Lewis-Bowe-Tyson-Holyfield
Lewis never ducked. Fought every heavyweight of his generation and was more deserving than Holyfield and Tyson 2.0 as Undisputed HCW. Tyson was never the same destructive machine after D'Mato & Atlas
What a Two Fantastic Fighters! Holyfield's stamina is something unbelievable!!!

I cannot think of two other heavyweights fighting each other with equally technical proficiency.

been watching all of Mike Tyson's fights and it is so clear that he is not the greatest fighter, beat many unprofessional boxers, but nothing like Lenox and Evander. Thank you guys for showing us your amazing talent!!!!
Mate you truly wouldn't have a clue, after fighting guyd like Trevor berbick in 1986, he fought about ten guys of this standard. He started off with a lot of bums, but up until 1990 fought the best going around. He dodged no one, but lots didn't want to fight him.
I think that both Holyfield and Lewis had better mindset, that was main difference between them and Tyson. Tyson had skills but lacked there.
Evander is my favorite of all time heavyweights!!! Lennox proved ge is 1 of the best ever. I hated when he beat holy. Greatness is Greatness. 2 of the best ever n my era!!!
