No disrespect to Lewis. He's one of the greatest Champions ever. But you are correct, Lewis didn't defeat all of his opponents. McCall had a mental breakdown. Truly sad. Lewis never defeated him. Cheers.
Old Oliver McCall was a strong, tough guy. Frankly I'm suprised Seldon lasted this long, with his glass jaw. Seldon had great athletic ability, but was just not cut out to be a top pro fighter.
I never understood Seldon. He wasn't neccesarily a slouch. He had potential, but it feels like he was missing a damn screw. He was arguably winning this fight and just gave up out of nowhere. A complete dive in the Tyson fight 😅 I don't know why he chose to shit on his own legacy. He ain't even get a full payout for that foolishness. He could have at least went out on a better note. I actually worked with him. Talk about hitting rock bottom. You would have never thought he was the guy that made it as far as he did. Had no car. Lived in the projects. Would take food home from the job. Hell, not to look down on anyone in these situations. The struggle is real, but this is a guy who fought Tyson. He was a big deal in Atlantic City area. Ring a few bells in the boxing community. That's why he got the Tyson fight to begin with. To fall so low is mind boggling. He went to prison a few times too. The last time I saw him he was training his son so, maybe he got somewhat back on track. That was years ago though. Not sure what he's up to these days. That dive cost him more than just a career. He should have just gave it his all. There would have been more to gain with a bigger name in the game. To say you went pass the 5th round with Tyson is a achievement in itself. To say you gave him a good one is something to be proud of but, he didn't see the bigger picture. He historically took the biggest dive ever seen in boxing lol. He didn't understand the worth going toe to toe with Tyson. Hell, if he tried he might have landed a good one lol. His career would have skyrocketed. Interviews to this day. Always remembered. He didn't understand he got his chance and threw it away for pocket change. Now he's just a shadow of his former self.
Seldon was the biggest joke in heavyweight boxing. Shame cause physically he was a beast. He was quick, could bang/ but had the heart of a baby maggot.
The God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob blessed Oliver with a body of Steel and a Chin of Stone but he gave his Life Early to Drugs 💉 and it took 35% of his God given tallents away. Imagine a straight Oliver without the crack and herion
@@kennykross3306 Tomato-Tomahto? They were both sen as credible opponents but with losses to fighters the caliber of Buster Douglas (McCall) and Tony Tubbs (Seldon), no one at the time was touting either guy as a legitimate contender when they found their ways to a title.
McCall took so much punishment from Tyson in his time as a sparring partner. McCall was tough physically just lacked the mental capability to be one of the greats. McCall is so much better than Lewis.
McCall could have been great if he got a better consistent jab with a timed mean left hook, he throw the seem 1-2 combo over and over, right straight and hook to the body would of also helped alot
I respected Bruce seldon until he layed down against tyson. Say what you want against peter McNealy but he fought like a man until ko'd by Tyson and didn't lay down like seldon, seldon didn't even get hit.
Oliver McCall was Ike Ibeabuchi before Ike Ibeabuchi. Had McCall stayed clean he would have knocked out Mike Tysn in a potential fight and both Klitchkos.
Yeah, McCall was a professional punching bag for Mike Tyson. Tyson would've bludgeoned him like he did in their sparring sessions. I mean Frank Bruno beat McCall every second of every round. The dude was tough and had a tremendous chin but seriously lacked in the skills department.
McCall would've beaten Tyson? No he wouldn't have. Tyson dented plenty of fighters with solid beards, guys who never hit the deck. If Tyson doesn't KO McCall he wins a wide decision. I agree with you that the Klits should beat McCall. Wlad though isn't a sure thing. Less fighters than McCall had Wlad looking for that soft spot on the canvas.
McCall was NOT Ibeabuchi, nowhere close. They both had good power, good chins and solid stamina but McCall lacked in the skills department. He was ordinary. McCall does NOT beat Tyson. Team Tyson used McCall as a sparring partner because he was a punching bag, a tough punching bag but a punching bag nonetheless. Ibeabuchi had less than 20 fights and wouldn't be used as a tough sparring partner. Give him a few more fights and he'd be ready for a prime Lennox Lewis. Ike doesn't go to prison and perhaps the Klits don't have careers.
That's the first time I've seen Seldon go down from a punch. I don't mean to say he's never gone down before, I'm talking about the dive he took against Tyson. He went down twice, both times from the breeze of a Tyson punch. It was by far the absolute worst performance by a flopper ever. I thought Liston looked fake when he did a belly flop vs clay#2,..when Seldon put on his act there were floppers across the country giving him shit. If anyone is curious, after Tyson left prison he had 4 fights building up to his big fight with Holyfield. At that time, I was far too busy and didn't pay too much attention. I'm retired now, and if I would have had the time back then I would have bet on Holyfield. I'll tell you why; all 4 of tysons' fights prior to holyfield were fixed. I give you my word as a student of the game and a pretty good former athlete. Seldon was the most obvious, but all 4 did the big power dive. The only one that was a little different was against Mcneely. I don't believe Mcneely took a dive per say, but his manager took a dive for him. Mcneely was so hyped, he ran at Tyson and he looked like a savage fighting over the last piece of meat. Tyson put him down, and Mcneely got up and ran around the ring like it was a track meet. He quickly went down again, but he didn't look hurt. Mcneely's manager stepped into the ring, automatically ending the fight. The reason his manager stopped the fight wasn't out of concern for mcneely, it is said mcneely's manager made a huge bet at long odds that his fighter wouldn't last 30 seconds. You can make any kind of wager imaginable in las vegas, and his manager betrayed him but made an absolute killing when the payoff came. The other 3, Buster Mathis jr., Seldon, and Frank Bruno( it was Bruno's 2nd fight against Tyson) all 'pretended' to be fighting. I was shocked to see it, but there it was. Watch those fights with a suspicious attitude. You'll see punches being pulled, thrown a foot over the opponents head, and a lot of other play acting. I didn't realize fights were still fixed, especially at this level. I suspect that Don King either didn't want to risk Tyson losing, which would have ended the huge payday against holyfield, or he knew that Tyson wasn't the same after being in prison more than 3 years, so they fixed 4 warm up fights to guarantee a match with holyfield. Tyson was a big favorite, but holyfield beat his ass, and beat it again later. It all makes sense now; Tyson wouldn't have been favored had everyone known he won his last 4 fights because they were fixed. It wasn't such a big upset knowing Tyson may have been much less than before. 2 huge paydays and they could give a shit about the fans; they took the money and ran. One other fight I'm sure was fixed was the only loss of Aaron Pryor's career. Some are going to doubt me, I know. Look at the fight yourself; he fought Bobbie Joe Young, a decent fighter but that didn't matter as the fight was fixed. It was Pryor's first fight back after a drug rehab, and he was higher than a kite in the ring that night. Watch his antics and see what I mean. The ref counted him out in 8 seconds, and Pryor hardly made a complaint. Imagine Aaron Pryor, feisty anyway, losing his first pro fight on a quick count and not throwing a fit............the 'knockout' punch missed Pryor's head by a foot.......
Checkers Lane I'm careful what I say; I check 3 or 4 times before I make any claim. Since you insulted me, I went back again and looked at Tyson vs mathis jr. Did you look at the fights I mentioned or do you just insult people without knowing what you're talking about? Look at the first 2 rounds of mathis vs Tyson. Tyson missed about 30 head shots in the first 2 rounds and landed exactly zero head shots. That wouldn't happen under any circumstances other than a fixed fight. I don't stop at that, I watch each punch and both guys actions and interactions. They replayed (in slow motion) between rounds some of the punches Tyson missed. it's a joke; Tyson was against the ropes and slid to his left away from mathis. Tyson threw an uppercut at mathis while he was 2 feet to the left of mathis. he had no chance to land the punch and a professional fighter doesn't throw punches like that. Tyson landed about 6 or 8 soft body punches, missing every head punch in the first 2 rounds. They were obvious misses, not what you see in a real fight. Take a look; as I said before, Mathis, Seldon and Bruno all took dives for Tyson. Mcneely's manager stepped into the ring ending his fight with Tyson. The manager bet against his own fighter then stopped the fight so he could cash in on the wager. I've done research and this is the truth. if you won't look at the fights that's okay with me, but your opinion is meaningless if you don't. If you looked but didn't see what I stated, you have no sports mentality nor coordination.
Dude you may be knowledgeable about boxing but your just throwing shit at the wall here. All those guys you named would get killed by tyson anyways. they were tomato cans, not fixes. the only one I will give you is seldon. did anyone ever find out the truth about that?? btw if you think prime holyfield beats prime tyson you're lying to yourself. plain and simple
croplaya This wasn't prime Tyson, that's the issue. More than 4 years in prison and he's 30 when he fights Holyfield. Even the great Muhammad Ali, who only missed 3 years and was able to workout while he was suspended, couldn't return at top form. He had a couple real warm up fights, then got beat by Frazier. Ali looked very good that night, but those 3 years took something from him. Tyson lost over 4 years and his warm up fights were fixed. When he fought Holyfield he wasn't near the same guy that beat up almost everyone when he was in his early twenties. You say that Tyson would kill the guys that took a dive, they were tomato cans. Tyson would have beaten them certainly before prison, but you apparently believe Tyson walked out of prison after 4 years and was the same guy. I'm not the one that fixed the fights, but apparently Don King felt it was necessary to ensure Tyson would win all 4 fights, setting up 2 mega fights with Holyfield. I think he was right, looking at it from his perspective. the way Tyson performed against Holyfield, he may have had trouble against Bruno, for example. The truth about Seldon is obvious watching his terrible acting. Tyson's actions after the fight in the ring and toward Seldon indicate he was in on the fix. When a reporter questioned Seldon regarding his performance, with suspicion in his voice, Tyson jumped in and defended seldon. That's not what Tyson normally did. If you recall, when Tyson fought Golota, Golota quit on his stool after 2 rounds. Tyson was infuriated and tried to attack Golota for being a coward. Why would Tyson make an excuse for Seldon, Tyson knows that he didn't land a punch and therefore Seldon took a dive. The reason Tyson came to Seldon's defense was to defend the fixed fight itself, which he was a part of. If you accept Seldon was a fixed fight, then ask yourself why would they fix only that fight but not the other 3? It makes no sense. They wanted Seldon to flop to guarantee that he didn't get lucky and ruin the mega fights with Holyfield. The same thing is true for the other 3 fights, any loss by Tyson kills a mega fight. King was known as a con artist that fixed fights previously. When someone like me points out an actual fixed fight, the reaction is to doubt me. We know King fixed fights, why would you doubt these were fixed when it makes perfect sense considering Tyson was not the same and could possibly lose, ruining a mega fight and a rematch and all that big money for king?..........
The only reason I don't think they were fixed is because those guys were so terrible. And by the way they might have been but I don't see the reason for it. A 40 yr old tyson would've killed those guys. Lou savarese? Christ man, cmon
At the end of the day Lennox never beat McCall😐 Oliver droped him in hiz prime👊

Allen Wilson lol 😂 wasn’t the fact that Oliver went threw a Withdraw from the drugs me seeing that fight had me speechless 😶
McCall was lucky to win first time against Lewis, & he also had a bit of help from the ref.
Oliver mixed his prime from drugs 💉 we only so Drugged Oliver. We never so sober dedicated fighter Oliver either. Sad but true
No disrespect to Lewis. He's one of the greatest Champions ever. But you are correct, Lewis didn't defeat all of his opponents. McCall had a mental breakdown. Truly sad. Lewis never defeated him. Cheers.
Bruce seldon was such a waste.
1:58 . McCall absorbed all heavy punch.Legend...
Seldon has to be one of the strangest heavyweight boxers of all time.
He was wasnt he
Yes, a TV fighter who couldn’t win when stepping up in competition. He would quit when pushed too hard.
If he actually fought Tyson he could've won
Stamina endurance jaw power will power .....from boxing to basketball 80s ,90s had the most talent
Well spoke...true too
Seldon was a shady fighter had so much talent but was never the same.after this fight mentally.
Damn Jeff - you do a great job on all of these - thanks for your hard work for all of us fight junkies.
Big disconnect between your channel and this video, lol. Guess we know what your Dad used to be up to on RUclips.
There was a lot of heat in McCall's right hand.
Then why didn't he drop or knock out SELDON much sooner in the earlier rds ??
Old Oliver McCall was a strong, tough guy. Frankly I'm suprised Seldon lasted this long, with his glass jaw. Seldon had great athletic ability, but was just not cut out to be a top pro fighter.
Mccall was a throwback fighter Liston in his prime
He was no Liston Lol...paleez !!
Good, solid fight right up till the end!!! Both seldon and McCall could fight!!!
0:23 That's probably the most hurt McCall has been in a fight and it's debatable if he was hurt or just tripped a bit there.
Mccall said that Bruno and Lewis hitted him more hard of all in The Ring " best i faced".
Good lord Seldon is the biggest jobber ever in HW boxing.

Who was waiting to see the Lennox’s jump? 😹
Seldon was the biggest joke in heavyweight boxing. Shame cause physically he was a beast. He was quick, could bang/ but had the heart of a baby maggot.
I could not agree with you more. he looks like Balrog for Christ's sake, but yes.. Goddamn cowardly lion
+croplaya
Those huge muscles can kill your stamina, especially in boxing.
Oliver was great in my opinion.
He could've and should've been..but he wasn't great.
McCall is a very tough boxer. It would be interesting to fight with Tyson
He was his sparring partner and beat him down in training one time..
Wow that was a nice scrap, respect to both warriors, they went to war 🔥🔥💪🏾💪🏾
The God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob blessed Oliver with a body of Steel and a Chin of Stone but he gave his Life Early to Drugs 💉 and it took 35% of his God given tallents away. Imagine a straight Oliver without the crack and herion
Two very solid journeymen who managed to find their ways to brief title reigns a few years later.
They were not journey man but B level boxers
@@kennykross3306 Tomato-Tomahto? They were both sen as credible opponents but with losses to fighters the caliber of Buster Douglas (McCall) and Tony Tubbs (Seldon), no one at the time was touting either guy as a legitimate contender when they found their ways to a title.

Mccall is the Wesley Snipes from undisputed 1
We only so 65% of Oliver McCall's tallent, the next 35% went to the streets and drugs.
McCall was mike tyson sparring partner.
Someone who is put in there to lose and make the other guy look as good as possible.
These two boxers will easily reign in this era.. the speed, power and the chin to withstand heavy shots is unmatched.
We couldnt find this kind of fight today...all hype and overrrated
Yes...and boxers fighting MMA fighters...what a joke and an insult to the sport..!
@ 2:15 ….. That was a nice short fast hard LEFT JAB from SELDON that rocked MCCALL ...
Always expected so much more from Seldon
McCall could have been great if he got a better consistent jab with a timed mean left hook, he throw the seem 1-2 combo over and over, right straight and hook to the body would of also helped alot
Oliver problem wasn't his boxing Oliver problem was DRUGS AND THE STREETS
My gosh for heavyweights they were smoking it.

Wow, that was a war! Two great fighters.
What a great fighter
BS looks bad. But he’s a scrub
Atomic bull..😛
Seldon had got big skills but lacked of confidence to win.
He could had make many interesting fight versus Tua, Ruddock, Morrison ans others.
The way that seldon fought here, proves that he laid down for Tyson
2:52 . Thats why Oliver McCall has granite chin...
