      @pastorshandonevangkimlaellis 3 года назад

      Ozkoparan,I agree that the ref was counting slow when Buster Douglas,was knocked down and was counting fast when Mike Tyson was knocked down.But there was a slight difference in how Buster Douglas got up and how Mike Tyson,got up.Buster Douglas still had his mouth piece in his mouth when he got up.But Mike Tyson,Could barley find his mouth piece.He tried to put his mouth piece in and it was still hanging out.Which mean he wasn't thinking right.So the ref had to stop the fight.But the ref did count slow for Buster Douglas,though.But when Buster Douglas got up,he still seem as if he was in his right frame of mind.

      yeh he outplayed mike style, but if u look closely the countdown of douglas knockdown started later u can see someone else counting from the second he fell referee was like 2 seconds behind the real countdown, and in mike case the referee started counting the second he fell down!!

    • @Ffeoli1039
      @Ffeoli1039 Год назад +6

      @@biggiewhite same exact count. The ref is not bound by the time keeper's count and is the authority in the ring. Refs usually give fighters the benefit of the doubt when they are dominating the opponent. Up until the round 8 knock down, Buster was fighting the perfect fight. There are a lot of factors that come in to play when it comes to the 10 count. Buster was alert and showed he was listening to the refs count. Even if he wasn't, he at the very least put on a good act, which goes a long way. It also happened at the end of this round. Something that can't' be ignored. As for Tyson, took bombs from Buster the entire fight. Looked hurt a couple of times. By the 10th round, it's clear Tyson is ready to go. He takes a flush 4 hit combo. He hits the canvas and instead of getting up and at least trying to pretend he wasn't hurt, he clumsily flips onto his knees to look for his mouthpiece and barely puts the damn thing in his mouth. At the count of 8, dazed and confused, he attempts to get up and falls back down and is clearly shook up. The ref is looking him straight in the eye. Tyson is absolutely gone. Tyson tries again and tries to grab and use the ref to help him get up. The red feels it. This is at 9. As the ref waves his warms and stops the fight, there is zero protest from Mike. Buster would have hurt Tyson real bad if that fight went on.
      Honestly, think about it. Imagine if the ref called this fight in round 8. Buster would have looked straight into the eyes of the ref like he was crazy. It would be another instance where refs make the wrong call, and this fight would have been remembered as one of the biggest robberies of all time. It would have been analyzed over and over again. Furthermore, it would be an asterisk in Tyson's career and in my opinion would look worse than him straight up losing against Douglas.

    • @Ffeoli1039
      @Ffeoli1039 Год назад +3

      @@biggiewhite Also, and this might seem like a silly point, but I think it's worth hearing; Buster Douglas' story here is insanely inspirational. The fact that he was an extreme underdog. The fact that his mother died shortly before this fight. The fact that he told his mother, supposedly in her deathbed, that he was going to beat Tyson for her. He didn't show up that night just to fight. He showed up to win. Not only that, but he used this as motivation to win and fought the fight of his life. The amount of people that were probably inspired by this can't be overlooked.

      Tatarawr it’s timed perfectly with the video. When the ref is on 1 the video is on 4:00-4:01, when he is on 2 the video is on 4:02, when he is on 3 the video is on 4:03, when the ref gets to 8 the video is on 4:10. At some point at the 4 count the referee slowed down the count and has lost 2 seconds from then on.
      I do understand that it’s the referee’s final count and the count has leeway and other things like distraction come into play. I’m just pointing out the obvious that when the referee stops counting at 9 that 12 actual seconds passed and Tyson should’ve won if the seconds were counted correctly.

    Buster was the first to take advantage of Tyson's limited height: he hit (hard!) from a distance, and clinched when Mike found a way in. Also, after destroying so many rivals in the first few rounds, Mike's long fight endurance was a question mark; Buster proved it wasn't that good.
    Holyfield used the same long fight approach in their two bouts. After the first, a frustrated Tyson knew he had to KO Evander right away; after three fruitless rounds, he resorted to savagery out of desperation.

And he just smiled and said I need to watch the fight. I asked him again and he said watch the fight. I said we will, but I just want to know what round Tyson won in. Even if Mike Tyseon won this one- he was gonna lose eventually. One can clearly see his mind was not into fighting anymore. He was neither quick or agile as he was back when he was on his way to the top.
    He moved heavy, also always tried to end it with one shot instead of work his opponent.
    Mike got lazier, more self centered and defocused. He got used to knocking his opponents early that he didnt even have the stamina to go after the 6-7th round.
    People praise Douglas here but this was not Mike Tyson at his best.
    It could have been anyone here. Douuglas was a man at the right place at the right time. That is all.
    This is the truth. Mike Tyson was not himself even 2-3 matches before this one. Neither was Tyseon himself ever after. Tyson's career after this fight was nothing but an attempt to put himself together but Tyson is one of those people which once broken cannot be repaired.
    His later madness was nothing but an attempt to return back to his old self by sheer force of will. But the magic was gone.
    Late nights, partying, drugs, private life took their toll and Iron Mike was gone long before this fight.

    The real story here is how good Buster could've been if he took his whole career as seriously as he did this fight bcuz he definitely didn't! His talent is on full display here....for a guy that big with an incredible jab and straight right!! He could've been an all time great but unfortunately this is really the only time he did really put in maximum effort and the last.

    Mike won this fight! If you count when he goes down, it was 13 seconds. Yeah, buster won, but that ref did not count properly.

    Tyson wasn't used to going the rounds, he was all about speed and strength to knock them out early. Buster obviously watched Tyson's fights and knew that if he could hold and and wear Tyson down he'd have a chance.

    Tyson was in magnificent shape to withstand all of those punches and keep upright. I don’t buy the narrative that he was out of shape, he just ran into a fighter with great hands and a determination to win.

      @Zatch G Tyson was 23 years old in this fight. what do you mean a prime Tyson lol at 23 years old your in your prime. It’s his fault for not preparing for this fight. It’s called not being disciplined.

    • @zatchg1212
      @zatchg1212 4 года назад +1

      maurice mack you do realize that being at a specific age doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be in your prime, right? I could point out a lot of examples of people who were in their prime that were outside of what would probably be considered “prime” age. At 23 mike was already past his best years, in my opinion. ‘86-‘88 is widely considered his best years. And I dont disagree about his lack of preparation vs Douglas. That fight is considered one of the biggest flukes in sports history

    Buster Douglas was the confident aggressor who showed no fear of Tyson. Buster may have gone down in round 8, but inspired by the recent loss of his mother, rose to the count & the occasion to destroy Tyson with a fury of 4 consecutive punches in round 10. What a spectacular performance/fight.
