All - I am selling off some of my collection, and this Ginault Silent Service with 60-minute bezel version is one I am set to sell (sorry, I am keeping the 12-hour bezel version). It is the exact watch shown in this video.
The watch is in immaculate condition, and has only been worn twice outside of the photos taken for this review video. The timekeeping is still spot-on.

wow thank you for sharing! This is a damn good looking watch!! they really hit it out of the park with their own design! I LoVe LOVe Love how they are able to marry the 20mm oyster bracelet with those broader lugs with such smooth transition unlike what Rolex botched on their 116610. That black matte dial is also very sporty and sexy coupled with the larger chamfer and that big crown matching the bezel cut out! You can tell Ginault really spent a lot of time designing this piece. The fact they offer 2 insert options with matching bezel functions really shows that these guys care about the finer details.
Not to be a nudge, but no mention at all of the controversy around the brand? Just feels like at least a passing mention of it should be included so any buyer could do their due diligence before purchasing. Also, there are posts out there by folks who took theirs to their local watch dealer and discovered that it wasn’t a Sellita under the hood but an ETA clone. Assuming it’s the same one that’s in the Ocean Rover. Caveat Emptor.
This! I was about to order one of these but seeing this talk about using replica movements has put that on hold until I can find more information. Im fine with a great quality watch just being that but I also really don't want to service it in the future thinking its a Sellita movement and they tell me well you know this is a clone movement right?
I just got mine few days ago. simply put, it is an AWESOME WATCH!
If this had Rolex, Omega or Tudor name on it, easily it would be $5K to $8K. Even though OR2 has been my favorite watch for very long time, now, I do not know which is my favorite. It is a coin toss. But I got to say this. Silent service's sapphire bezel and its action are out of the world. Definitely one level up from the look and action which is a lot more assuring and refined than OR2 ceramic bezel.
As for the dark black mat finish dial, I wasn't sure that I would like it when I was watching youtube reviews. It seemed too light for my taste. I always preferred Dark Piano Black (like OR2). However, when I have it now, I like that dark mat black because it turns to Mat Gray / Black only when it is under direct light. In normal situation, at home, office..etc, it is very dark black, not quite dark & shinny as OR2, but it is really deep black color which I like very much. I would have preferred OR2 dial, but it is bit different and I am getting to like it more and more.
The bracelet & Glide lock clasp seem to be exactly same as my OR2, but I just love the 1mm bigger size and 1mm plus thinner case design which fits me perfectly (7.35 inch wrist) It feels better and more comfortable than my Ginault OR2.
As for back case, it is bit of departure from OR2 back case design (which is 1 to 1 copy of Rolex), but I really like it. It is very simple yet classy and it actually make it sit on my wrist more comfortably.

Glossy black dial was the best part of the OR 2.
Silent Service dumps that for flat matte.
Agreed and that's what sets it apart. Alas, the matte dial let's it down.
I did a pre order a few day's ago because I agree with your opinion, you can't find a watch with better quality , making this a steal at phase 1 pricing.

Short lug to lug should help the watch sit nicely on the wrist. Smart.
i prefer the gloss dial and smaller lugs on the OR2. otherwise this watch looks bomb!

For me only the ocean rover 1 or 2 its Ginault! This model its something else for me....
The movement has hand-winding but the owner of the brand is advising not to use it! Apart from that the watch is an amazing time piece
It needs a gloss dial. a matte dial doesn't compliment the overall bling. it creates a contrast

They should go back to making the OR2. Don't know why you would stop, when the demand is still there.
Creating a hype and more demand and then release them again with higher price. They mimic Rolex marketing strategy.

Movement is the same regardless of bezel...
I wish they had designed a new original clasp with a logo on it. This design takes you to Rolex Submariner and it seems like they did half a job. This watch is more of an Omega Planet Ocean 39.5 considering the dial, bezel digits fonts and more

They’re actually Hindu numbers. Westerners got them from the Muslims who got them from the Hindus. Hope that helps to clarify.

Let me begin by stating that I am a huge fan of Ginault, owning an OR II. However, this watch is a bit of a disappointment. I'm not a fan of the flat black dial, nor the bold red font of "Silent Service" on the dial. To me, it cheapens the watch. Further, the crown is disproportional to the case size. Sadly, it's a pass for me. Thanks for the review.

This is an example of simply taking someone else's design and copying it, not one original design cue. I have owned a Ginault, nicely made, but basically a fake Submariner. To each his own

Hmmm. The dial and the hands are the only things that are similar, and when I say similar I mean just that. The watch looks as much like Rolex as it does an Omega and it looks as much like a Blancpain as it does a Rolex or Omega. It looks like a Ginault to me.
What is funny is that Rolex copied Blancpain and Omega copied Rolex. What is your opinion about that?

Find it really really ugly too bulky case and that crown is just out of proportion.

This was my exact thought. It looks out off proportion to me. They should have kept closer to the case and crown design from the OR.

Meh, it’s alright. I like it save the “shoulderiness” of the lugs. I feel like it could be better contoured. But overall it is really sweet looking I think. I’ve seen muuuch uglier lol. Really I like it. If I was sure of its providence id buy one
