These cars are oem from another brand called SCY (suchiyu). The drivetrain is identical to another older popular rc car xinlehong q901. However they changed the steel material and 14t pinion/50t spur to 18t pinion/46t spur (brushed version still 14/50). Q901 was as durable as hbx 16889 series except the weak metal spur that will strip on 3s bash. However i find q901 handling is slightly better than hbx. You are definitely the most underrated rc RUclipsr I've seen. Awesome video and great content!

I couldn’t agree more about your feelings of each of these cars. The Su Chi Yu cars are way underrated. They just need to come with slightly better wheels n tyres as well as oil filled shocks. That Frankenstein-beast you made is super sick as well. Love that wider stance and those HyperGo wheels and red letter tires! Very nice!

Cool video. The q130 definitely looks the best, but I gotta admit I did a body swap (and a few other mods)on mine to help it perform better at the track I play at. I used q903 metal shocks, changed out the tires, changed out the esc and receiver (stock had a bad throttle delay) and put on the lighter truggy body. I was surprised to see your q130 had plastic knuckles and hub carriers, the one I bought came with the metal parts. Thanks again for another awesome video.

What tires did you go with? I accidentally ordered the wrong ones, so mines running some 96mm ones that look huge on it. Stock is only 82mm. You wouldn’t happen to know the pinion pitch though?

I have the blue bodied car myself. I put a set of wltoys 14th scale oil shocks on and it drives like a totally different car with those on it. Got the full set of 4 for $5 on an AliExpress sale back during the summer. The little bit of jumping I did it wasn't bouncy on landing at all, just soaked it up and asked for more.
I did have an issue with either the motor or ESC beginning to crap out on me. I'm planning to replace both before spring comes and it's warm enough to get out and run. Thinking about using the updated hyper go ESC and motor that are set up for the ridiculous speed hack and 3s compatible.

I’ve got the orange one and I love it, when it works😂 I submerged it on accident and the esc went out. Bought a replacement and it lasted maybe 10 minutes and was done.
Mines got some massive 96mm wheels on it and hex extension to keep it from flipping as easy with the taller tires. And oil shocks.
Ouch! Lol
Get it a higher amp esc to handle those bigger tires! 😃 these are actually slightly smaller than stock so I haven’t had that issue.

I want to build a frankenstien sometime too. I miss my 901a, I do. It jumped pretty high over the smallest jumps for me so im hoping that the orange will possibly have some similarity in that aspect but overall. Yeah, i absolutely love this video. Ty for recommending it. Appreciate it. If you have any other recommendations on mods for the orange or even for a wltoys 124017 please let me know. Im newer to the rc world.

Thanks man! Ya that’s cool! The previous owner left them when we moved into the house a bit over a year ago, so we’re somewhat new to it. Actually his junky coop allowed a raccoon in, so all but one survivor, we bought and raised. Fully rebuilt the coop and Godzilla couldn’t get in it now 🤣
That orange one has looked really good to me. I first saw it on your video where you ran it stock out the box. Been in my queue ever since. I was Worried I wouldn’t be able to find parts but honestly I’m not sure I care about part availability anymore. I just saw you make this car drift into a wheelie. It seems to have that “ IT” factor. I already want new model and now I have no idea which one to pick. I can get HBX 2105A for $60 which is an awesome deal, but now you've got me wanting a Q117 (currently at ~$80 on aliexpress). Also would be nice to get something bigger for a change. XLF X03 or HBX 2996a both look like a lot of fun, definitely more expensive though... Man, I want them all!

Great Vid! I have the same JJRC Q130 (orange brushless SCT) I also replaced the friction shocks with oil shocks and it transformed the truck! So much damn fun and super durable! Mine has survived some decent sends at the skate park muliple times!
Agree about the wheels/tyres, they perform OK but I cracked and damaged three wheels from power sliding into kerbs at full speed no less. Had a screw or two back out from the steering links but a dab of Loctite and longer screws solved that issue. Curiously mine came with the metal knuckles not plastic like yours. About to order some new wheels so thanks for the link.
The only two thing I don't like about this truck is the position of the on/off button adjacent to the ESC heatsink (I'm always burning my fingers turning the truck off after a run) The other thing is the connectors for the body lights. They are so tiny and hard to connect!
I also own a HyperGo 14210 but I always seem to grab the JJRC Q130 for a bash. It's easier to control, fast, durable, great value for money and most importantantly more fun !

Does yours have an esc where the heatsink on it gets so much hotter than the motor? Idk if mine is the only one...

@@DerbyCityRC on 3s, 2s, on stock battery or other li-ion batteries. Wanted to put a fan on it but no brackets to install on the esc heatsink..
@DerbyCityRC it does get hot on 2s and 3s. I mostly run on a decent 2s with high C as that's plenty for most driving situations. When I do run 3s, I take the 2 spare wheels off the back of the truck to help keep the front down. I'm in Oz and it's currently summer so the electrics do run hot!

I have the sweep pink version with better shocks and a 45 amp esc. It's faster than most of it's competition thanks to that 2847 4000kv that's technically a bit overvolted on 3s, show the quality of the parts like you mentioned.
Which shocks did you upgrade to?

Which battery are you using? Does it fit in the stock location?
@@magnusstone I use sigp 1100mah 35c and cnhl 850 mah 70c, you need to swap the plug for those. I used a 1/10 body post to extend the one thats already on there (it goes over it attached with another clip so is removable) and they fit like stock with the tab. The esc is from a wltoys 124008 and I use a dumbo gyro receiver.
I'd really like to see more on the 3100A! some jumps or track action.

@DerbyCityRC Can't wait to see it man! Your channel really got me into these HBX's and smaller scale RC's. It's going to be fun at our indoor track through the winter here in MN where we can't bash outside as often due to the subzero temps. I got the 16890SA a few weeks ago and my 3100A was supposed to arrive today but got delayed until tomorrow. Hopefully it arrives in the AM so I can rip at the track for a bit before they close.

Well I got the shocks directly off another car so they already had oil on them. If you buy the shocks on their own, I’m not sure if they would have oil or not, but I would think so.
I have look at few RC channels. U right up there. You have good knowledge of the RC. I just been in the game about year and half. Lot to learn. I have the orange one. Got off TEMU. It is pretty fast Just few brush motors and a few brushless. I need to built a ramp. Very. Hot in Vegas. Just find RC park. Thx for info on cars. I try to catch one on sale. With coupon. Channels. I installed upgraded shocks which had zero oil in them...but even after adding oil they still are nothing compared to my mjx hypergo shocks...i spend a couple of hours this morning trying to figure out what the deal was with this beautiful looking upgrade shocks..they just are not designed very well...my wltoys and hyper go shocks are 10 x better...i really think your blue truck bounces because those shocks are not working as well as the other trucks..best way is to take shocks off and remove springs..its crazy how the right springs and shocks make insane difference.

I Bought the orange one after watching your videos, but mine broke almost immediately 😢 I believe the rear differential locked up and not sure what to do but also want to upgrade the shocks and tires.. but I can seem to get the links to work for me. I’m not in my shop right now and the listing does not show the tire size, however they are the smaller of the two sets of tires that come with the HyperGo 14209
. The shocks are around 66 mm long.

What strongest. Battery could be use on the orange. 2x or 3 x
It’s only rated for 2s, but you could install a higher amp esc with a new receiver and transmitter to make it 3s capable. My opinion is you don’t really need 3s. It’s difficult to control with that!

For the bluecar I bought a couple of 2S 2000mah 25C from Hosim, they fit great and work very well. I dont get it to wheelie a lot but it might be the concrete

The DEERC H16E Brushless 1:16 3s capable 4X4 comes with oil filled aluminum shocks and is actually $10 less (@ Amazon) than the blue car you showed. 10kph slower but still fast. No chasis brace bar but those always bend anyway. Have you tried the H16E yet?
I have tried that one. o have a video on it from maybe 4-5 months ago. It’s good but I like these much more. That is just the mjx HyperGo 16208 with Deerc body on it. I’ve got that plus like 3 other variations of it lol
I got my Deerc H16e for $111, and the blue (& pink) truggy for $78, both from Amazon.

Can you change the receiver on the blue one so it would work with a programmable controller that can be used for multiple cars?
You can, but you would have to change the esc too and get a receiver that works with your controller. The current esc has the receiver built in.
That's my fifth time watching this video! I'm about to purchase my first rc and I found great deals on both orange and blue ones but I really can't decide which one to get. Which one would you reccomend? I think I like the blue one more but man the orange one is also super cool! Is there a big difference between the two, except for the cover? Like handling, maneuverability, running better on a different terrain?
There really is no difference besides bodies and tires. Maybe some small stuff but nothing major at all. After these upgrades, I like the orange one more. Can’t go wrong with either. If you want to do big jumps I’d still say blue, but for a nice mix of ground handling and decent jumping, the orange! (Oh and using the links in my video description helps us which we appreciate ever so much!)

Hey so I got the blue one and I'm pretty sure somethings wrong with something cause when I go forward it slips but when going backwards it doesn't and I thing it's the two back wheels that are the problem?is it the differential or ?how do I know ?
It’s really tough to know. You need to watch all the components spin and see what’s not spinning, then find out where it seems to lose drive.
Use the gripy MJX 10410 tires on these. They work so much better than in the MJX, maybe because these cars are a lot lighter?
That’s the part number of the ones I used on the Frankenstein car right? It probably is because they’re lighter so they don’t grab the ground as hard.

I love my scy 16 scale truggy...one issue is the servo will not center..my little race car servo centers much better..i experemented with tightening and loosening servo saver..but it definitely a weak or not so good internal servo issue..do they have a stronger metal servo that drops in? Car needs nothing else..but i hate it when cars dont track straight when you let go of the steering wheel..any suggestions are appreciated..Happy bashing😊
Ya it’s definitely annoying when that happens! I haven’t looked for a servo for this. Just gotta take measurements and try one. I’m sure I will eventually lol.
Took my wltoys servo from when i converted it to brushless 5 years ago..same exact dementions..with a good strong metal servo this truggy is perfect now..i may get another one..thanks 😊

I got the pro sweep version on temu for 66$ an is the best money I spent on a rc car an I drive it daily its my favorite on of the two I got I have the wltoys 124016 an it's trash unless I just got a defective v2 one

SG 116 Max destroys HyperGo 14210 in my opinion, I have 16208 and 14210 Now this monster is more stable at high speeds. A45 ESC On the way, I will update The controller also includes Dumbo RC

I love the scy truggy,but it has no brakes..only forward and reverse..anyway to program these esc/rx s...my exact same setup in my sg pro 918 has great brakes...just wondering if you a solution... its a great truck,even has metal knuckles ..i am pretty sure thats an upgrade..thanks 😊
Interesting. Unfortunately I’m not sure if you can program these, but it does sound like that’s what it is because you usually can turn breaks off. Yup I think they added the metal knuckles to them, which is awesome 😄
Its all good...once outside going faster then brakong its awesome..i even tried 3s 1000 lipo...it was windy as hell so i wasn't able to go full trigger...its ballistic power...insane little truggy at a great price...thanks 😊

Yes,scy nailed it on the truggy..power train is amazing.super durability. I was going to swap motor on my scy sg 918 pro...but even using a soldering iron i was unable to break Phillips loose after several attempts i put it back together..the sg 918 hits 25 mph using stock 2s lion batts...i have several of these..i was going to upgrade its 2440 4500kv to 2445 5400kv...but ordered a 2845 6500kv,new motor mount,and an 18t and 20t pinion...i did some math and if esc on 2s can handle the bigger higher kv motor it should be approx 38 mph using 20t.. around 58 mph on 3s...i will let you know how it goes in about a week...😊

HyperGo hasn’t really made a short course truck yet. Atleast I don’t consider the 14209 one. In this price range, the good options are the hbx 3100a, and this q130. Normally hbx takes the cake for me and it does look better, but the q130 is better on my opinion. Just needs those minor upgrades.

If you ever get a chance, can you add the traxxas 1/16 summit tires to one of the 16th scale rc you have hypergo or hbx to see how it performs? Also, if you try it, leave the shocks from the hbx on the back, which are longer, and put the red shorter shocks from the mjx on the front and play with the shock adjustments to make it even ride height at the front and the rear. That's my current setup, but I just NEVER have the environment to test it hard-core like you do. If you use those tires on the mjx, you might have to use spacers at the front bc when you turn, the tires rub against the corners of the chassis and body.

I got a question what would you recommend out of the arrma big rock 3s or the vorteks 3s or if you recommend another one that would be great as well I’m trying to figure out what to buy as my first high end rc car to ride around with my son thanks
What type of driving do you want to do?
Jumps and flips or mostly staying on the ground? What type of terrain?
To be honest I’m just getting into the hobby I got my son a decent rc truck and I fell in love and want one of my own. I just want a good all around rc truck a fast and reliable one since I’m just getting into the hobby and don’t know much about them I might do jumps etc but I would probably just do more just driving around and letting it do whatever comes to mind lmao but I did just buy a hyper go H14BM but it has not got here yet and I said I’m buy one more and I just want to get a great all round RC car but I do like fast since everyone likes fast lol jumps I probably would do sometimes but I was like let me ask around before I just pick the 2nd truck I want because I probably want buy anymore for awhile so I want to make sure that I can get one of the best that’s not gone break the bank and I watch a lot of your videos and I was like I’m ask you to see if you could recommend one of the best for me where I could not go wrong
@BlackBresha392 gotcha. Well I don’t have a big rock, but I have the granite which is similar but has a shorter wheelbase. I love the granite but it’s also kinda made to be jumped and flipped in my opinion. It does it so well. I don’t like it for ground as much cuz it flips over kind of easily. I don’t have a vorteks either, though I think I’m getting one soon.
If you want to stay in the 3s line, which is definitely awesome, there’s the Senton which I like alot. It jumps very nicely just not for flips. It’s right here: bit.ly/senton
If you can swing it, so far the 4s line is far superior. I just reviewed the 4s outcast recently and I’m working on the video for the 4s Mojave now.

Yea i just want one that can really just ride around and it goes fast etc I don’t have to hit the flips all the time just want to ride around and jump here and there I just want to get a good one since it will be last one for awhile till I learn the hobby I did buy the hyper go h14bm love it but it keep pulling to the right on me and I could not fix it so I sent it back to get another one I just want to have another one Togo with the hyper go

Are these the hyper go rc cars?
No they’re not. These are a brand called Su Chi Yu. SCY for short. They’re sold under many different brands though, like the ones I linked in the description.

It’s called something different on each website so that depends. I have a link or two to it in the video description.

I just think the way out of proportion wheels make the short course truck look toy ish.
It’s not perfectly scale, like the Mojave, Senton, or the new HBX 3100A, but it helps with this having good performance I guess lol

Not really. The body itself might be a little longer, but they’re the same chassis. Same size car.

Since I didn’t do any changes to the electronics, there was no need. Speed tests are in the original review video of each car.
