Dang. I’ve been wanting to get gud with a character, and Steve seems really fun and interesting, if complicated. I guess I should probably learn a more traditional fighter first, but Steve would be super cool to master. He’s definitely the most hype character on the fighter’s pass for me

I am only beginning with Steve, this is very helpful. Already got the XXX Formation down, but the staircase is giving me trouble right now.
I will focus on blocks and Elytra first, and if I have that down I will look into combos, which I know many of from watching Gameplay but they seem very tight in execution on some of them

are your triggers set to jump or special? i cant do the stairs lol
I have my Z button (gamecube controller) set to jump and use it to do the short hops
I do have a modded tactile Z button though which makes it a little bit easier, but you can do it with the stock one as well no problem

Am I doing it wrong or was Steve nerfed? I can't complete an up smash on dirt, it disappears almost immediately when I barely stand on it
I use single joycon and never learned how to use the Wireless pro controller, can I still do these tricks on a single joycon?

Absolutely, that’s the main thing that makes Steve so difficult for people to fight, he’s a lot like sonic in this regard, being ignorant of the MU will screw you over much harder than a lotta other MUs an it’s not like ppl don’t know that it’s just (again like sonic) many ppl don’t wanna work on it cuz it’s not really fun. But hey it is what it is, practice or take more Ls
Ive never really had an issue with steve. I play as bowser. Now samus and villager.... that's a hard matchup

That shit was funny. Day one I was telling people how ridiculous his air stall was, and telling them Elytra just behaves differently.
Jump, minecart, double jump, block (reset), jump, minecart, anvil-jump, double jump, tnt, minecart, Elytra.
TLDR; Just stay in the air. Why get in range if Steve already has a home near the blast zone?

Just got into smash a couple months ago about to go into the lab trying out these steve techniques I would like a tutorial about how to jab fair combo if someone could help me out
Usually, you need to get the fair spike first, down throw is a good way to set them up for the fair spike, this, unfortunately, doesn't work on all characters, but the ones immune get jab into jabbed many times before escape. Just as Steve is putting his pickaxe away, so right after they got spiked, fast fall, do another fair spike and repeat
