Well the comments section made me release that this game has an insane amount of developers. That's kinda cool, so much passion put into a fan project, and it shows, just by how well made it is.
There's quite a few of us! All spread out tackling different aspects from studying Brawl's framework, to integrating characters and adding in new cosmetics from costumes to motion trails!
I mean getting a game this big with these good graphics running at 60fps with no drops on basically the sharpest 480p picture I've ever seen in my life should really need a lot of work.
I play the mod on the Wii, and i totally agree that it's not very recommended, the worst problem of all is that the selection screen runs at 20 fps for so many characters, and look that in the future there will be more characters, as it is confirmed that all characters from Ultimate will be in the mod
I'm a disc user on wii. The CSS run more along the lines of 45 fps for me atleast. It does chug a bit when highlighting multiple characters. Thats because the css portraits arent in the css itself, but loaded externally. Wii isnt recommended, but its a perfectly good option.
I play on Wii and for the most part it runs great. The css can be a bit laggy sometimes and the really detailed stages are laggy but the majority of my time with the game has been smooth
@@XcaliburW*technically* you’re right. however, they’re essentially coming out with a part 2 later this year. Source: ruclips.net/video/zXB0wiRHO1Q/видео.htmlsi=syhsxNcd4S9m5AnR
Really glad that Remix is starting to get more attention lately. There's so much care put into the pack and despite how much content there is it's all surprisingly polished and even pretty well balanced for competitive. It's such a rewarding experience to learn the ins and outs of all the new characters and figure out what's good with them all. Also disclamer the mod actually runs surprisingly well on Wii, that's my primary way of playing and framedrops during matches are rare unless you're on a super detailed stage
Hey, PM:DT/ PM:BR dev here, it's always wild to see how far people took our mod and just RAN with it. Absolutely love seeing how far this community can go with this game. It's nice to see almost all my stages made it into this build. Maybe next time they'll add my Donkey Kong Minecart Madness stage. Was stoked to see my Wario Land, Bowser's Castle, Peach's Castle, Metal Cavern, and even my Venus Lighthouse stage in this build. Wild stuff.
@@MonteRicard Oh sick, I was looking at a video someone posted showing all the stages and didn't see it in there. Glad it made the cut haha. That stage was a love letter from me to the Brawl modding community, it felt nice to finally throw everything I learned into a stage and see how far I could push that engine. Glad y'all were able to spread it and help more people experience it and have a good time
Hey remix dev here particularly one of the people who worked on motion trails and other Gfx related stuff its great to see this video coming out from aaronitmar
Quick question my guy. Will there be some more optimization work done in future updates to make it more stable on real Wii consoles? I'm a big advocate for playing Smash on consoles with my friends. We also play Smash Remix on real N64 hardware and we have a blast doing it, so to have this mazing Brawl mod working good on a real Wii would be outstanding if we want to play something other than Ultimate.
not really a REMIX dev, but some of the things that are in the build, were actually made by me the most notable ones being Silver and Zack Fair's models
@Twitxh yes and no, the things i made that were then later included were done outside of the scope of REMIX, and were then later added in, mostly because they were, and still are to this day, the only good assets for those characters
I'm so happy you showed Wizard Ganon. The entire time you were talking about character selection, I was obsessively wondering about him. I remember modding him into PM with him taking up a character slot. I hated doing that but that was such a fun character to play.
While REMIX isnt recommended for wii, it is perfectly functional, only having occasional random crashes and some laggy stages. I'm a relatively newer REMIX dev, but i only playtest and work on new stuff on wii since my computer isnt the best. Love the vid.
me and my buddies play for hours most days on Wii and our experience has been great, it only lags sometimes in css and the detailed stages but most stages run great
Well i don't care if a character is "competitively viable" i think it's cool to see never seen characters in brawl and future character's implemented in brawl
As a wii user I must add that the game runs fine, occasionally it crashes but it doesn't happen very often I've known the mod for a year now and have loved it ever since, an occasional crash is no problem.
Hey, not a REMIX dev here, I think the fact that smash has such a dedicated modding base that they made a modpack that can't be played on the console it was made for is hilarious. Almost as funny as how Nintendo treats their modders.
the world of light we deserved now that i think about it it would probably be amazing if it world of light had the kirby-style platforming stages that subspace emissary had
@@loltoheaven777sreplaystora6 Someone should make a mod where World Of Light plays more like Subspace Emmisary and less like a a far worse garbage fire version of Smash Tour.
Hey! REMIX dev here, I'm so glad you dicided to make a video about this mod, just to let you know i had a sandwich this morning , it has cheese and Ketchum
I recommend trying rivals of aether if you like this, because for 1, anyone can easily(kinda) create a character, due to having steam workshop support, and, every vanilla character has a fun and unique gimmick, even if its very small.
Seeing Rivals Workshop get love on this channel would be amazing. The high quality OC’s are some of the greatest characters on the Workshop, so seeing them get the love they deserve would be incredible
I actually helped work on an old version of the blaziken mod (I ported the model originally before it got a rework using the 3DS skeleton rather than the captain falcon skeleton the first version of blaziken was built on back when it used the gamecube model) and blaziken is absolutely one of my favorite characters to play as.
1:07 One thing that I appreciate is that the new characters don't even break the rule of being from a video game series. Yes, that includes Elizabeth because Visual Novels are considered as games, so that makes the entire Fate series be viable on being called a video game franchise.
I remember when I first downloaded this mod, Sephiroth was actually fairly new, and had his very own moveset. It's really cool to see them porting more of the characters from Ultimate over, even now. (Side note: I'm also one of the people who can proudly say that they ran it on their Wii console!)
@@victordabebe978 I can't necessarily tell you how because it was honestly entirely dependent on whether my wii actually wanted to run it or not (there was like, an 85% chance each time that it would crash at any given time it needed to load something) so it's entirely up to how lucky you get with loading the entire mod on your wii console. If you meant how as in what to run it on for the Wii, I used the Homebrewed version on a disc copy (iirc there's also a gecko version? could be wrong) and to do that I downloaded the mod onto a 32GB SD card. Hopefully this helps somewhat. I apologize in advance if it does not.
I was having trouble getting this mod working on my Wii before they put out update 0.95 which swapped to Project + as a base in that update. When I finally got the mod working with that update, that was the time my Wii stopped reading my Brawl disc.
I hope so. I just wish Nintendo wasn’t so stingy about fan projects. They could legit make money off peoples passion for their games, they just choose to ignore and sometimes go out of their way to stop us instead. To Nintendo, modding = piracy
@@peterduprey7286There are a lot of mods for Ult., but I have not seen any on this level. A lot are skin swaps or custom stages, but it is definitely a growing scene for modding since the Switch is easily emulated nowadays.
Someday, I want to try this mod. To everyone behind the REMIX mod, thank you for all of your hard work and time. You made something incredible for anyone that either can't afford a switch, refuses to deal with nintendo's horrible online play for their modern console, or just prefers their Wii over anything else while wanting a new smash experience.
"no Aaron don't play this mod on your Wii!" "Why is it going to blow up?" "No it will crash on the loading screen...! Then it will blow up!" *Game crashes on the loading screen*
I've been playing this build on my Wii for a while, and I love this version more than Ultimate. My 11-year-old even was more excited about this. They did a fantastic job. I love playing as Deathborn and Black Shadow. Those were terrific choices to put in. Same with the Phantom Ganon version. Super amazing.
Previous Dev/Contributor, cheers for checking it out When it comes to characters from other builds, you'll often find that these characters have changes or additions from their base movesets, some notable examples being Shadow and Metal Sonic Isaac especially is his own beast, with an upgraded model and almost an entire moveset overhaul Despite what it seems, Brawl modding is still pretty limited, given that we don't even have source code, for example, the transformation thing with Pyra and Mythra, transforming character code is proven possible but not popularised, stuff is mad hard That being said Remix has pioneered and popularised a lot of tech recently, with article functionality, you can create unique projectiles and character specific items, which is a huge step up from the past (Back in the day you'd have to make "fake" projectiles, which were actually just disjoints attached to a graphic) If you want to hear more details, I'm sure some of the devs would be down to talk about some of the processes, I haven't been a part of the team for a few years
Oh man, at 11:25 that is Nu 13 from the BlazBlue series! I sure wish it got more recognition in the west. But it was a very popular Japanese fighting arcade game. The creator Mori recently left Arcsys, but Blazblue Central Fiction will live on with its amazing rollback netcode update on Steam last December. I highly recommend it! Outside of the Smash series, Blazblue Central Fiction is my favorite fighting game that I've played.
The mods having characters like Mega Man X, Zero and Sub-Zero are really cool. Hopefully they'll be able to backport OG Mega Man as well. I saw they were adding Kazuya soon, which should be pretty badass!
Actually most of the ultimate movesets have been back ported at some point or another. Think MegaMan is on brawlvault somewhere. Iirc remix is maxed out on the roster. But replacing a character is pretty simple. There are lots of tutorials there.
I know the MegaMan exists because it was in the absolute cluster that was infinite As far as I recall that was just slamming every character they could together, finished or not But he was pretty worky at least
Reading the comments and seeing so much of the original team comment makes me happy, its clear coverage videos like this are important for fan projects on this scale.
This is easily the best smash bros mod period. Every character feels like they were made by people with a passion for smash bros. My hat goes out to these incredible devs that prove human beings can do amazing things
Thanks for promoting this mod. I have had a blast exploring it alone and hope to play it with people eventually. Shoutout to the development team for creating the most fun Smash Bros style game I know. I was introduced to PM in 2012 or 2013 and have kept up with it since. I also have tried Brawl Minus, Super Smash Flash 2, Legacy XP, and Legacy CE. PM EX Remix is by far my favorite. Nu-13 and Black Knight (Zelgius) are incredible. I appreciate the innovation and hard work that has gone into this ambitious project. I imagine the team is inundated with character requests, and I'm excited to see what's released in the future. I'm content with the current roster but if I had to vote for a newcomer then I support Ratchet & Clank.
@@RedSpade37 Thanks. Dolphin Netplay is the only feasible option I know unless the Wii version is Wiimmfi compatible. I don't have great internet at the moment.
Such an awesome mod to play. Although its still shame a lot of characters feel incomplete, are too stiffy to control (like Toad for example) or some either crash the game. Hopefully they flesh them out in future updates.
i can only asume that hero has no crits, because hatchet man, which is basically a guaranteed crit side smash, is not a consistent part of the moveset, rather than being apart of a rotating movepool. making the crits redundant
Truly an incredible feat for the modding community, 9.9/10 0.1 missing because it doesn't have Porky I am biased I will never leave this hill on this hill we are biased
The character who's name or lore you didn't know about is Nu-13. She's originally from the anime fighting game called BlazBlue. She's a load of fun to play as in her original game as well as the Brawl mod! Also it's probably a long shot but if the devs were to put Litchi Faye Long (also from BlazBlue) that would absolutely be best thing ever.
I actually have a dream of Sol getting into Smash and Ragna being his echo (with some unique moves obviously). If we are to represent arcsys fighting series, they seem to be a better pick imo
V-No 13. She's from BlazBlue. You might wanna look at her costumes up in Cross Tag Team. Her green one is based on Penny Polendina from RWBY. It makes sense cause both are robots and they use the same weapon. Speaking of costumes. Will you do the costume origins for all characters in this game too? Don't go all at once. Like...do parts or half of them. Like for the others from 64 to Ultimate.
I got introduced to BlazBlue through Cross Tag Battle (I really like RWBY), and now that I'm neck deep in ArcSys games and lore... it's weird seeing people look at BlazBlue and Guilty Gear characters and being like "No clue who this is or where they're from lmao"
@@Jason_Altea i mean, you really have to be deep into fighting games to know arcsys and their major characters. Strive might be popular, but most people have no idea Neco-arc is from (technically) an arcsys fighting game. So no, wouldn't be that surprised
the battle of brawl mods will be whoever gets rollback first (tall order i know) but getting a random buddy on and not having stuttering would be amazing
Damn, this is an awesome-looking mod! No non-Persona Megami Tensei representation, 5.43/10 Nah, but for real though, I would be giddy if any SMT or MegaTen spin-off character got added to this! Raidou Kuzunoha XIV is an obvious must, but Serph from Digital Devil Saga, Kazuya Minegishi or Hibiki Kuze from either Devil Survivor respectively, or of course, any mainline SMT rep like the Demi-fiend, Flynn, Nanashi, the Nahobino, Space Marine (Tadano Hitonari; Strange Journey protagonist), or even a classic protag like the SMT I Hero, Aleph, the list goes on! Literally, ANY Megami Tensei character from a series other than Persona would go _crazy_
After years of playing melee, brawl, PM and P+, i tried this mod and i swear i had fun like the first times as a kid. Nowadays when i want to play just to have fun and chill with friends, Remix is still the best, and i hope it will get even better. Great balance between quantity and quality of the rooster and new maps, music and skins make it very catchy and funny to play. There is some little bugs on Wii console, but honestly who cares! Really 10/10, good job devs!
hehe I'm happy you like his costumes! I did a few of his default recolors (Gemerl Black and the original brown) and all of the Jet Set Radio recolors, that's probably one of the costume sets I'm personally most proud of. He's actually near the top of the priority list for a moveset revamp, so hopefully he'll play even better sometime soon ;)
This toon Zelda and dry Bowser thing was something I had been thinking about a lot lately. Since next smash in theory will not be as big as ultimate, it would be cool if they reworked current characters with a new more Faithful moveset to the games and mix it with the echo fighters. For example, if they could add a Kirby echo, so we have the regular Kirby with one of the best designed fighter games moveset, and a new Kirby with more moves from the powers of his game instead of *Kick*
I hope you guys are ready to be mind blown! The fact that damn near the ENTIRE team has been quiet for quite some time means something epic is on the way. Something that is going to shake the smash community and cause some "higher ups" to look in this direction. Anything could be possible after that point and this team is fully aware of that.... everyone would do well to give love, respect and praise for the amount of effort this underground smash dev team has made from such an amazing game. What a time to be alive. Here's to the next release and eventually (and hopefully) Project M EX Remix 1.00!!!

So they do plan on giving us all the fighters from ultimate, what about the remaining fighters from smash 4?
@@supergenesisstation1991 With all the characters of Ultimate, it means that it will have all the characters of the franchise
I play on Wii and for the most part it runs great. The css can be a bit laggy sometimes and the really detailed stages are laggy but the majority of my time with the game has been smooth
@@fatalfoams Wait how do you get this to run on an actual Wii System?
And the best part about this is that they’re not done and will be adding way more characters to the mod!
Didn’t they cease development?

@@hydraails Awesome, I’ve always wanted a Wii so I can mod it…
Heyo! ANOTHER REMIX dev here! Thanks for showing the build some love! It's only getting better from here on out!
Also! Since I've seen many ask where to watch the latest trailer, here you go!
ruclips.net/video/nWksGQfeQrI/видео.html
Really glad that Remix is starting to get more attention lately. There's so much care put into the pack and despite how much content there is it's all surprisingly polished and even pretty well balanced for competitive. It's such a rewarding experience to learn the ins and outs of all the new characters and figure out what's good with them all.
Also disclamer the mod actually runs surprisingly well on Wii, that's my primary way of playing and framedrops during matches are rare unless you're on a super detailed stage
How do you install it onto a wii?
Could you explain how to install it on Wii? I got project m working but this shit just crashes unless I play it on dolphin
Wild stuff.
We did actually! That Minecart Madness stage is a blast to play on.
"Whoever that is"
That is Nu-13, one of the central players in the BlazBlue fighting game series.
...kinda? She's not Taokaka, but ever since CT, she hasn't been as relevant, being almost entirely limited to being a tool.
not really a REMIX dev, but some of the things that are in the build, were actually made by me
the most notable ones being Silver and Zack Fair's models
Do you think the next update will still work fine for wii?
@@LaPotatoElegante most likely. We try to keep wii compatibility. Probably wont lose it for a while.
me and my buddies play for hours most days on Wii and our experience has been great, it only lags sometimes in css and the detailed stages but most stages run great
Well i don't care if a character is "competitively viable" i think it's cool to see never seen characters in brawl and future character's implemented in brawl
It’s so much fun seeing and reading all the devs’ comments.
As a wii user I must add that the game runs fine, occasionally it crashes but it doesn't happen very often
I've known the mod for a year now and have loved it ever since, an occasional crash is no problem.
Hey, not a REMIX dev here, I think the fact that smash has such a dedicated modding base that they made a modpack that can't be played on the console it was made for is hilarious.
Almost as funny as how Nintendo treats their modders.
Cant wait for a costume and final smash origins for this. If he decides to of course
11:25 that character is from the fighting game series “Blazblue”. I’m pretty sure she was the boss character in the first Blazblue game.
She also has a weird thing for Ragna, despite the fact that Ragna has no feelings back for her!😅
Imagine if they made a Subspace Emissary for this, complete with cutscenes
the world of light we deserved
now that i think about it it would probably be amazing if it world of light had the kirby-style platforming stages that subspace emissary had

7:38 GET BODIED LMAOOO
It’s so cool to still see the Brawl modding community at it years later, and their tools have only gotten better as time goes on
I recommend trying rivals of aether if you like this, because for 1, anyone can easily(kinda) create a character, due to having steam workshop support, and, every vanilla character has a fun and unique gimmick, even if its very small.
Excluding sandbert clones
workshop content is bonkers, zetta's monthly highlights are great as a curated source of just high quality content all around
@@Eichro linklightoo is good for rivals content too
Seeing Rivals Workshop get love on this channel would be amazing. The high quality OC’s are some of the greatest characters on the Workshop, so seeing them get the love they deserve would be incredible
@@poobise as much as i like linklight, he focus less on quality mods and more on "clickable" mods, where he often stumbles upon actual good stuff
I actually helped work on an old version of the blaziken mod (I ported the model originally before it got a rework using the 3DS skeleton rather than the captain falcon skeleton the first version of blaziken was built on back when it used the gamecube model) and blaziken is absolutely one of my favorite characters to play as.
Blaziken is so fun to play as in this. Probably my favorite original moveset character so far along with Knuckle Joe.
@@faceurhell agreed. Shame the mod was revamped but hey, was nice to help work on it even if it was only used for a few months.
How do you run it?
If the devs of this mod are reading this, you guys have done a phenomenal job, and I look forward to seeing what you do in the future!

I was having trouble getting this mod working on my Wii before they put out update 0.95 which swapped to Project + as a base in that update. When I finally got the mod working with that update, that was the time my Wii stopped reading my Brawl disc.
This is insane! Makes me wonder if the ultimate modding scene will ever be this crazy…
Maybe when a new homebrew breakthrough happens? Since this is amusingly a console that nintendo actually updates to stop homebrew

"Why is it going to blow up?"
"No it will crash on the loading screen...! Then it will blow up!"

Ye heh heh I remember my first smash mod.

“You can’t tell me what to do so let’s put that to the test”
And on that day, Aaron was never heard from again.
Previous Dev/Contributor, cheers for checking it out
When it comes to characters from other builds, you'll often find that these characters have changes or additions from their base movesets, some notable examples being Shadow and Metal Sonic
Isaac especially is his own beast, with an upgraded model and almost an entire moveset overhaul
Despite what it seems, Brawl modding is still pretty limited, given that we don't even have source code, for example, the transformation thing with Pyra and Mythra, transforming character code is proven possible but not popularised, stuff is mad hard
That being said Remix has pioneered and popularised a lot of tech recently, with article functionality, you can create unique projectiles and character specific items, which is a huge step up from the past (Back in the day you'd have to make "fake" projectiles, which were actually just disjoints attached to a graphic)
If you want to hear more details, I'm sure some of the devs would be down to talk about some of the processes, I haven't been a part of the team for a few years
Oh man, at 11:25 that is Nu 13 from the BlazBlue series!
This mod looks amazing! That edit at the end was hilarious!😂

Meanwhile 2000’s kids approaching you at a rapid pace:
The mods having characters like Mega Man X, Zero and Sub-Zero are really cool. Hopefully they'll be able to backport OG Mega Man as well. I saw they were adding Kazuya soon, which should be pretty badass!
Actually most of the ultimate movesets have been back ported at some point or another. Think MegaMan is on brawlvault somewhere. Iirc remix is maxed out on the roster. But replacing a character is pretty simple. There are lots of tutorials there.
I know the MegaMan exists because it was in the absolute cluster that was infinite
As far as I recall that was just slamming every character they could together, finished or not
But he was pretty worky at least
Speaking of getting OG Mega Man.
I do hope they also think to add in some other Mega Man characters like Proto Man And Dr. Wily
Plus Vile And Sigma

Didn't expect a blazblue character in this mod.
I'm a big fighting game fan especially arc sys works so it was a very pleasant surprise

*Wii proceeds to explode*

Damn, this is an awesome-looking mod! No non-Persona Megami Tensei representation, 5.43/10
Nah, but for real though, I would be giddy if any SMT or MegaTen spin-off character got added to this!
This really makes me think of my favorite Brawl mod, Smash Infinite.
Question: Does the game run any better on a modded Wii U over a modded Wii, or is there no difference?
After years of playing melee, brawl, PM and P+, i tried this mod and i swear i had fun like the first times as a kid.
Nowadays when i want to play just to have fun and chill with friends, Remix is still the best, and i hope it will get even better.
Great balance between quantity and quality of the rooster and new maps, music and skins make it very catchy and funny to play.
