The entire reason I think Ganon shouldn't be on the top 5 "to be fixed" list is because he's a fun underdog character to root for: yes, he isn't the most faithful to his home series and yes, he could be a lot better if they incorporated that, but Smash. Ganon is so iconic I would rather that the canonical version be an entirely separate character added instead. (Also how did Seph, Kirby, and Luigi make it on this list and Min Min/Olimar didn't)
People have said it for years man, you could put Ganon's moveset on someone like Black Shadow and he would make an infinitely more sensible choice for a Falcon clone while giving Ganon room to get an actual, proper moveset. It's just so funny that characters like Ganon and Sonic, characters who are absolutely confirmed to be last-minute additions in Melee/Brawl respectively, have had barely any meaningful touch-ups. It's like turning in an assignment messily at the last minute, but the teacher is cool and gives you another week to finish it proper, only for you to STILL wait until the last minute again.

If you were to get rid of the down B spin charge for it, it would make a lot more sense in that slot, but I also feel the down B charge is a much more "iconic" use of the Spin Dash so it needs to stay. Point being a mostly stationary tornado move would not be a fitting spot for a side special.
I don't know why he thinks Sephiroth is badly designed. A character with massive strengths SHOULD have massive flaws. Did the rest of the DLC characters being poorly designed cause him to think an actually balanced DLC character is badly designed?
Sephiroth is easily one of the strongest characters in the whole DLC roster from a pure design standpoint. His kit has clear strengths and weaknesses that lead to very unique play (The closest comparison is probably Ridley, but the two feel very different)... and most importantly, he's fun to use! I don't have a strong connection to FF7 and didn't care much about him going in, but he just feels cool. He's not particularly fast, but those huge hitboxes can strike fear into the hearts of opponents! There are lots of ways he could be fine-tuned if a theoretical balance patch occurred, but the kit itself feels solid to me. Meanwhile, I appreciate that they swung for the fences on some of the other DLC characters, but most of them land in such polarized gimmick territory (Min-Min, Steve, Kazuya, Hero, Plant my beloved) that they would need to be reworked from the ground up to stick around in the next entry, and are probably better off not coming back at all.
Ganondorf's HDR moveset is actually kinda good in a not broken way. Similar to HDR but with a decent combo up tilt (he shoves the hilt of his sword upwards), no cape, and f-tilt can be angled
i dont mean to be harsh but the reviewed video is honestly kinda garbage, all of the aforementioned characters COULD use reworks, sure, but it feels like he chose specific characters he just dislikes and what he dislikes about them and what might make it more enjoyable for him rather than what would help these characters fit into the game more cohesively with the rest of the cast
I think what a lot of people miss is that these characters are, first and foremost, archetypes in a fighting game. They exist to fit a playstyle that has a target audience + obvious strengths and weaknesses. When you start going all fanfic with these reworked movesets you either need to adhere to their current archetype or change their archetype entirely. It's why ROB is such a poorly designed character - he's archetypeless, he has the tools to win at every range playing at every speed. HDR dk is like this. They took dk's existing archetype, one that excels when they make it in with fast + strong attacks and great shield pressure but struggles to make it in due to a lack of antizoning and having a massive body, and gave him an annoying ass barrel projectile that he can chuck around and hit like wii fit's football. Now dk is a square hole character like ROB.

I've always been down for kirby side B to also be inhale. And either inhale can copy. When you copy you take the neutral and side B. (Both copy moves are a tiny bit weaker that the original) Anyone else? Everything else just works, he's not busted, fun to play as and fun to play against currently. But that little tweak would be even more fun
What i learned making moveset and balancing mods is that not all, but a large amount of 'fixes' are leftover spite from top tiers, and when you give yourself a few days after having ideas for changes they seem absolutely broken. When you introduce extra broken gimmicks for your fav characters you always test playing vs them as an opponent. You will know what feels like bullcrap.
I think it would be sick if Kirby copied ALL specials of the opponent he inhaled - could you imagine Kirby forward throw into shoryuken or Kirby using flip kick for recovery it’d be awesome
I'd honestly like to see them remove a lot of the comeback mechanics like Wing, GO, Limit, etc. Either that or give all characters some sort of meter/comeback mechanic
Some characters are casual characters and don't really need to be better, it is more important how enjoyable to play with or against and how thematic they are

me and my sibling have put over 20k matches in on doubles, and my conclusion is that over half of these characters are literally unplayable, in-that they just lose one-dimensionally to a bunch of other characters. doc gets stuffed by heros, ganondorfs, incineroars, byleths, not worth touching the character. mewtwos body is too long and all of the generous hurtboxes make him die to most heavies. the only solution is to play to overtuned DLC and mii characters, or abuse the heck out of wifi characters like krool or ike. I have good stats with my main kirby but games take way too long trying to pin down your opponents because EVERYONE has gotten good at wiggling out of punishes. you gotta punish things noone punishes to win, and some characters just dont have the kit in 2024 to be able to do it.
I hate when people talk about changing Sephiroth because they forget that wing last as long as he has his stock. Sephiroth with the weight of Cloud becomes a top 5 character but he starts three jumping like Sheik and refuses to play neutral until you have some orbs lol
Sephiroth is high tier without wing and then top 10 with it. Him being that light is needed because he just doesn't get hit since his range makes his moves so safe
Vars was clearly picking characters from some predefined catagories: some personal shit (sehiroth), a ToD character (luigi), a community fan hated character (sonic), the lowest tier list (gannon), and a under utalised character (kirby). All in an effort to appeal to some but not all.
Ganondorf and Sonic ansolutely need total reworks, but for diffeent reasons. Ganondorf is the main villain from one of Nintendo's core franchises, its frankly embarassing that hes remained a worse Captain Falcon for this long. He has a lot to pull from the games, making him more weapon based or magic based or even a combo of the two. Sonic is one of the most toxic characters and even competitive aside, dude deserves better considering his moveset was rushed to make it on time for Brawl. That excuse doesnt fly anymore, he doesnt need so many moves that turn him into a ball. Im not a Sonic fan but considering his history they can pull from fo much, and it would help the competitive health of the game too because everyone hates Sonic camping and timing people out. Seriously, I dont even watch videos with Sonic anymore. Kirby is a weird one tho? Im not a Kirby fan but i think hes mostly fine? Like yeah maybe get rid of side b for something from his newer games but everything anout him feels pretty well done for the most part. Sephiroth is mostly fine, just fix his wing and his weight. And yeah I agree on Samus, always gated how Smash makes her super slow since its not reoresentative of the games at all, snd shes had the same Super Metrood moveset since 64 despite changing designs. I really hope they update her design from the awful Other M suit to Dread and give her a new moveset that doesnt make her feel super slow

Nah I think Meta Knight is simply about the numbers. He was very interesting in Brawl, but broken unfortunately, and then they nerfed him too hard after that. He could be a really cool aerial fighter if given the right momentum

Min min can be changed so her arms either have a hurtboxes or you can disable temporarily them by damaging them enough like in the game.
Sephiroth should never ever lose wing off-stage or in the air. He would need to touch the ground first, no matter what.

I hate when people talk about changing Sephiroth because they forget that wing last as long as he has his stock. Sephiroth with the weight of Cloud becomes a top 5 character but he starts three jumping like Sheik and refuses to play neutral until you have some orbs lol
Sephiroth is high tier without wing and then top 10 with it.
Him being that light is needed because he just doesn't get hit since his range makes his moves so safe

Vars was clearly picking characters from some predefined catagories:
some personal shit (sehiroth), a ToD character (luigi), a community fan hated character (sonic), the lowest tier list (gannon), and a under utalised character (kirby).
All in an effort to appeal to some but not all.
Ganondorf and Sonic ansolutely need total reworks, but for diffeent reasons. Ganondorf is the main villain from one of Nintendo's core franchises, its frankly embarassing that hes remained a worse Captain Falcon for this long. He has a lot to pull from the games, making him more weapon based or magic based or even a combo of the two.
Sonic is one of the most toxic characters and even competitive aside, dude deserves better considering his moveset was rushed to make it on time for Brawl. That excuse doesnt fly anymore, he doesnt need so many moves that turn him into a ball. Im not a Sonic fan but considering his history they can pull from fo much, and it would help the competitive health of the game too because everyone hates Sonic camping and timing people out. Seriously, I dont even watch videos with Sonic anymore.
Kirby is a weird one tho? Im not a Kirby fan but i think hes mostly fine? Like yeah maybe get rid of side b for something from his newer games but everything anout him feels pretty well done for the most part.
Sephiroth is mostly fine, just fix his wing and his weight. I honestly do agree hes overly balanced, i get that they had to make his sword moves slow considering how huge they are but they kinda overdid it making his hitboxes have a bunch of weird sourspots. And considering he's one of the tallest characters it also really hurts him to be that light and frankly doesnt make any sense. He should at least be like Cloud. The only other thing is his wing, honestly as soon as he gets it he should just keep it, or at least only lose it after he's KO'd like Terry's go. The fact its percentage based is honestly really stupid and makes it poorly implemented.
And yeah I agree on Samus, always gated how Smash makes her super slow since its not reoresentative of the games at all, snd shes had the same Super Metrood moveset since 64 despite changing designs. I really hope they update her design from the awful Other M suit to Dread and give her a new moveset that doesnt make her feel super slow
we arent getting ultimate HD, but i tihnk the next smash will be similar to ult bc i think theyll wanna use ultimate as a base for the next game, because that way makes it alot easier to not have to remove a bunch of characters

i think for kirby they should just change his smash attacks, rn theyre boring ass kicks, pretty satisfying to hit, but still theyd be cooler if they referenced copy abilities from kirby games
also please just buff his air and ground speed slightly, not alot so hes not busted but just enough so hes not so awful to play against any character with range

@@blocks4857 Easiest fix I've always thought was no staling from hitting blocks, and every tier of weapons should have the damage and knockback of the previous one(iron being cobble damage, cobble being wood, and wood being almost equal to fist).
Meta Knight needs a rework 100%, most boring gameplan aka fishing for dash or grag and try to ladder the whole game. People just forget him cause hes neither trash nor good
Nah I think Meta Knight is simply about the numbers. He was very interesting in Brawl, but broken unfortunately, and then they nerfed him too hard after that. He could be a really cool aerial fighter if given the right momentum
He was more boring in Smash 4. He has more interesting stuff in Ult. He isnt just ladders he still has insane edgegurding and he wins a lot of meta relevant MUs like Min Min and Palu

Luigi's has basically no difference, Kazuyas needs perfect execution and tracking opponent di and sdi, and a very good understanding of the weight of the opponent so that nair doesn't send into tumble.
@@yukimori7762Kazuyas 0-d are really easy to perform. There is literally a blue line that shows where the opponent is DI ing. Also SDI doesn’t work against kazuyas but affects Luigi 0-d so much more.

Yeeeaah. I checked out on this one when he said he doesn't know Ganon from the games and that he wants air ride for Kirby.....I am not even certain Ganondorf has punched anything in a Zelda game. He has either had a sword, or blasted something with magic.
Kirby should have elemental buffs to moves depending on who he eats so if he ate mario he would get fire ball flame sword up b magic hammer side b and water stone down b
