10:56 I actually HATE how Luigi has less mobility than Mario. Luigi's WHOLE THING is that he runs faster and jumps higher than Mario, but has slippery controls. He's been like that since day 1, its his defining playstyle... And yet in Smash Bros. he has _no horizontal air speed_ and can't even wall jump. Its insulting.
For whatever reason Sakurai was really dead set on making Luigi only able to move in an L shape (which would be charming if not for how unfaithful it is to Luigi's character).

I perfer that if Luigi is running, he should be decently fast in the air. This would be a good mix up where he can get you guessing if he’ll chase you with a dash jump or a fireball/z-air. Then, you’ll need some patience to get the 0-☠️.0therwise, you’ll go too far to do it.

“Square Enix characters are the ones that Nintendo fought the hardest to get in the game”
While that may have been true in Smash 4, Ultimate has 4 Square Enix characters, Seven if you wanna be pedantic, 9 mii costumes, and way more songs than the 2 that were in 4. I’d say Square has loosened up with licensing with how popular and loud people were with Cloud in Smash 4.
It’s safe to say that the Square characters are likely to reappear in Smash 6, whether Sephiroth himself would, is less likely. But not for license reasons, he’s just easily the least “important” out of the 4, the other 3/“7” being Main characters of HUGE franchises. While Sephi is a HUGE antagonist and Smash is lacking in those, he isn’t the most important out of the rest.

Not only do I think he's fine moveset-wise, but I don't think his shortcomings are all that difficult to fix, and some of them don't really even need fixing. The only ones that I can definitely understand changing is making his One-Winged Angel form feel more consistent and less confusing, and making him a bit heavier. I like that some of his move are stabs and have more horizontal range than vertical. It just fits his playstyle more.

I think the whole Metroid character line up could use a series of reworks:
    - Samus: Pretty much the same moveset since N64. While Ultimate was the strongest that moveset has been, in the post Metroid Dread world it is time to go all out with Samus's CQC abilities and give her a new set of normal moves. And maybe add some extra flare to her specials, like letting her charge side-B to do the Storm/ Seeker Missiles.
    - Dark Samus: Being just an echo fighter for Samus was pretty underwhelming. Give her the phazon specials like the moves she uses in the Prime games. I 100% want her to have a Foresight/ Bats Within-esque move where she splits into her Echoes to dodge attacks, and a phazon barrier than is a reflector.
    - ZSS: In a really good spot. Just maybe make her Nair not insanely safe on shield for once.
    - Ridley: All the pieces are there, Nintendo just didn't go far enough with them. Make Plasma Breath jump cancellable when you're charging it, make Space Pirate Rush immune to projectiles, let Wing Blitz move in 8 directions, and let Skewer ignore shield.

      * Samus should borrow some moves from Mii Gunner. Also ice weapons.
      * Dark Samus needs a few more of her own stuff. She could at least borrow the Inklings' ink mechanic for Phazon but instead that deals DOT.
      * ZSS is just an apology for not being able to think of new Metroid characters circa Brawl, but she can stay anyway.
      * Ridley suffers from that weird crouch position on the ground. They're trying to force him to be "smaller" than Bowser and his animations are suffering for it.

As a Sephiroth main, I'd say he doesn't need a rework that much but some buffs, like increasing his weight to at least 92 and less than 100, make that the side b projectile actually has hitsun (like, come on it's literally negative on hit. A lot of characters can punish that perfectly if they're just a bit close), make his nair frame 6 just so he has an actual oos option because it's not fair that Min min has 2 that are faster than his, reduce the landing lag of his attacks for 2-3 frames (6 for up air), get rid of the sourspot so the sword only has a mid potency spot and a sweetspot, and fix some blindspots.

Honestly, I fell like Little Mac should be left as he is right now. Because other four characters you name have one problem in common: their playstyle in Smash doesnt refer to what they are like in their games. Mighty King of Evil is just stronger Falcon, Kirby (who is used to have a billion abilities in his game) sticks with the same moveset for 25 years, the fastest mf on earth slow down pace of the game to absurdly low speed and as Vars said, Luigi is more mobile in his games than mario and in smash he is not. But Little Mac is just guy boxer, and thats exactly how he plays in smash: good on the ground, bad in the air. I think it should be like that. Also he is not overpowered to the point where it's very exhausting to fight him (although I know it's not very pleasant experience, but in comparison to sonic or luigi its much better)

@YoshiAteTooManyYoshiCookies Technically Kirby has 2 projectiles, but his star spit (the one that shoots out enemies in the shape of a star) never gets used as a projectile in 1v1s (because you literally can't shoot at your opponent since they are needed to make the projectile in the first place). Sakurai bootlicking in the year of our lord 2024 is insane to me. Yeah he's probably a fine guy but he's not this infallible God who smash NEEDS to be a good game.
-Project M and countless other smash mods exist, people have and can make smash games without Sakurai's input that play fine.
-He's made numerous bad calls for the series. Like never doing cutscenes like Subspace again simply cause people posted them online?
-His bias in characters is pretty bad. Namely with how barren Kirby content is from games he didn't direct. Or that Kid Icarus Uprising, a single game, has more content than most franchises way bigger than it. (2 characters, 3 stages, a good chunk of items, etc.)
-He held back the competitive scene and Smash as a whole for "casuals", nevermind the fact that Casuals do not give a shit and buy smash regardless if they're skilled or not.

-Project M is literally a mod for a game thats already made. Saying Project M is proof people can make Smash games without Sakurais input is like me putting a decal on my car and saying I made it myself. Not to take away from the gigantic effort needed to create a mod on the scale of Project M but it's literally a mod of a game that Sakurai's team made. At least use something built from the ground up like Super Smash Flash.
-Smash has been WAY more successful putting the cutscene money into reveal trailers instead. Acting as if that pivot was a bad decision despite all the hype and attention it brought to Smash is pretty stupid. Also World of Light literally has cutscenes? Not as many as Brawl but thats literally because they used the money for reveal trailers and other parts of the game. (if that was worth it or not is up to opinion but its not like he just got mad and didnt make cutscenes in Smash 4 because theyd be uploaded thats stuff thats been disapproved ages ago.)
-Excluding Earthbound (a finished series), F-Zero (a dormant series), and Wario, all other Nintendo series have at least 3 characters. I should also remind you Kid Icarus has 3 games, and Sakurai worked on Kid Icarus so it was easy to reuse stuff from that game in Smash (especially for 3DS). The Kirby thing is true but I really dont think its a matter of him disliking those games or anything, many other franchises suffer issues of not being updated to reflect their modern titles, Kirby just stands out because hes Sakurai's creation.
-He didn't "hold back" anything he just made a game. If people want to play the games they do and if they don't they don't. Acting like him making a game for the target audience was some great betrayal is such a weird take that makes it seem like compeititve smash is all that exists.
Now i want to also say there ARE good reasons to complain about Sakurai. The biggest thing (and an exception to what i just said) is Slipping in Brawl. Literally a mechanic that not only makes compeitive play worse but is also just annoying for casuals too. Custom Moves were also butchered by a shitty implementation that made them difficult to get and how uninspired so many of them were.
I agree with you that obviously a game series can continue to be good without its creator, I mean all of my favourite Kirby games are POST Sakurai's departure, that being said a lot of what you said is just wrong.

    • @Krona-fb4dn
      @Krona-fb4dn 15 дней назад +3

@@SuperCrazyfin Gonna reiterate over some of my points specifically and address what you added.
-I'll concede that my point about Project M is wrong, but in the same sentence you mention Super Smash Flash and proving my statement as true. You don't need Sakurai to make a smash game. I think that Nintendo/Bamco or whoever makes the next smash without Sakurai would have to do a Fallout 76 style blunder to fail.
      - My point was less of the lack of cutscenes, and more so that Sakurai's reasoning for why is just stupid.
"We put a lot of effort into making them. But before the game even came out, people were posting them online. Even overseas media outlets were doing it with the pre-release copies we provided. So I decided to stop making movies that cut in during gameplay, it's a tough time to be making story-driven games..." (Verbatim quote from Sakurai)
THIS "reason" IS the problem. Not the fact that they're gone, but his reasoning. Imagine if Square Enix just did away with any of the recent Final Fantasy cutscenes just because people leaked them online. He could've just said "I just don't want to do subspace again for this specific game" and it would've held more weight.
-The problem is the imbalance of content and its present throughout Ultimate. 3DS having so much Kid Icarus stuff was more due to relevance and saving time as they had access to the assets for it. However he still added brand new items to Ultimate that were from Kid Icarus and new tracks. Not to forget how unevenly distributed the attention is for the games. As an example, Wario, Bayonetta, Sonic, and other franchises didn't get even one new remix. Whereas Megaman got like fucking 19.
-He absolutely did hold back Smash's competitive scene, what? It was called Super Smash Brothers Brawl, developed and made to be more 'casual' in response to Melee. In your exact follow up, you list Brawl tripping, a consequence of Sakurai trying to *hold smash back* for the sake of "evening the field" for casual players.
Also its not like he's ever spoken out in favor for the competitive smash scene in response to Nintendo's attempts to strangle the scene. Sure he absolutely doesn't have a responsibility to do so, but the point is that actions speak louder than words ,and he's given the ok to mechanics that held back Smash's competitive scene. In other words, he doesn't care about the competitive scene and has held it back. In stark contrast to other fighting games that have grown in tandem with their competitive scene and have only benefitted from doing so. Yeah he is a separate entity from Nintendo, but he still has a good sway of authority given that he's still the director for these games.
None of this is to say he's a bad developer or cannot make a smash game. Just that he's not infallible and he can make some fairly questionable decisions. Some people still have trouble accepting this, even after the fact that Ridley was added after Sakurai said "No" to his inclusion multiple times.

  • @lasercraft32

Its always really REALLY bothered me how Kirby is represented in Smash Bros... The vast majority of the franchise's representation (outside of a few songs and spirits) is relegated to the _old_ Kirby games. The ones _Sakurai_ made.
The bias he has towards them is palpable (I'm still mad we don't have Bandana Dee or heck even Magolor as a modern Kirby rep). Even Meta Knight and Dedede feel _off_ compared to their modern counterparts.
(Like for example... Why the heck does Dedede feel like a brick? He's not THAT fat. The guy who can _literally fly by inhaling air_ should not feel that heavy. Somehow he has the same weight as DK, and yet DK doesn't feel awful to move around as, so its entirely the gravity and air mobility stats that are the problem).
Out of all _six_ Kirby stages, not a single one comes from a game after Kirby Super Star, and we STILL don't have a Kirby villain as a playable character (because Dedede and Meta Knight are no longer villains and haven't been for a _very_ long time).
I'm glad that Kirby at least has the Ultra Sword as a final smash (the one actually _perfect_ decision), but as someone who got into the series because of Return to Dreamland, it still sucks that that's the only decent representation. Spirits just don't cut it, and there's a TON of really good music tracks that aren't in the game (they always seem to ignore the _best_ songs).

About one-wing: given that it’s supposed to imitate the feeling of a final form of a boss, I low key think it should just last all of Sephiroth’s last stock, so that it’s his final phase, and in timer mode they could give it to him once there’s only x time remaining.

I'm gonna chuck in three characters that need reworks in my opinion.
    - Link. Adult Link also needs the rework badly since he's been doodoo garbage in every Smash game with no amount of new stuff to help him. Traditionally he's a sword character with projectiles but his particular problem that the two other Links don't have, is the lack of fast attacks that hit IN FRONT of him. And that problem has persisted for years with his old and outdated moveset. Even the remote bomb can't save him. He needs a rework like Ganon since both have been trash in every installment they've been in-- new moves from the heavy amount of source material they have going for them. I guess I might as well cheat and throw in Zelda as well who is the worst character in the entire franchise overall. Rework the Triforce Trio so that they can be good again.
    - Ike. Ike needs a new identity as a swordfighter if he's to come back since he no longer has the biggest sword in the game and he's entirely outclassed by Pyra and Cloud, who function better and does what he does but better in every way. Range, speed, power, you name it. Even recovery since Quick Draw isn't the end all be all to his recovery options, just that he has to unless risk getting spiked out of his Up B or hit out of it. Hell, if you need an idea to rework Ike, make him the heavyweight projectile swordsman MockRock has dreamed of by focusing on his ability to fire shockwaves and use his ability to use Fire in his moves to do so. Since while we have Roy and Pyra who are fire swordies, they don't lean into the projectile aspect at all, and that's where Ike can get his new identity. No more being strongheld into neutral air or being outclassed. Oh, and give Ike his old voice from Brawl and Sm4sh back. Please, I beg of you Sakurai. Ike needs a new identity if he's to come back into smash and that's the best way to go about it.
Lastly we have, the Miis in general. More specifically Mii Swordfighter and Gunner (especially the former). Which are usually cheesers or cringe but never any good. Like these characters were illegal in Sm4sh and not good in Ultimate. Gunner is just a Samus who's even more annoying somehow and actively camps but is outclassed by Samus. (Sillintor made a Dr. Samus joke about Mewtwo that can be applied to Mii Gunner) Mii Swordfighter's is moreso a "zoner" with the amount of chakrams and tornadoes/shurikens they throw. Mii Swordie's normals are 40% good and 60% mid/garbage and the special moves aren't any better. I mean, take a look at Mii Swordie's sword based special moves and tell me they're good-- you can't. Mii Swordie has to pick and choose between recovering or getting a worse Spin Attack as an OOS option, and while he's supposed to be based on Link, Marth would have been a better choice to be the template for Mii Swordfighter, and thus, we really need better special moves and really just a rework to Mii Swordie as a whole. Gunner as well could use a rework to have a different identity, like be a hybrid between Snake and Samus seeing as Mii Gunner's special moves lean towards explosives while having an arm cannon. I don't how else to fix Mii Gunner. Point is, Mii Swordie needs a rework to be more like Marth/Lucina for the kind of fighter they are based upon with similar issues to Link but they're mechanically doubled down upon.

Replace Sephiroth with Little Mac. Little Mac needs it more than Sonic imo. Because at least Sonic’s kind of represents who he is. Little Mac’s doesn’t at all. He actually attacks in air (Jumping Uppercuts) in his game, and he doesn’t have KO punch nor super armor. Mac should be a character like Sheik or Joker that builds up star punches to KO, which is basically what he does in game. His final smash should also be a cinematic. The combo he does in the Punch Out Wii intro as Giga Mac and ending with a star punch would go crazy. And he doesn’t even have his own personality! Mac gets serious in fight, but he’s not 100% of the time serious. Like his win screens. He’s supposed to be excited that he won, you see that in Wii. In Ultimate he’s just… stern. They literally gave him Piston Hondo’s personality 💀

Sephiroth just needs some buffs to his weight and frame data and that's honestly it. His wing Mechanik is fine if not for the fact that a random attack midstage is enough to send him to the blast zones at 70% bevor he can even use it and with more weight this problem is basically fixed.
As for who I would change it's Samus because holy shit is it boring that there is litteraly no difference in how different players play this character. Run away and charge the beam. When someone aproches grap into fair then charge shot, then running away using bombs then start the circle over again. With something like metroid dread exsisting and all the abilities samus has there it's a crime if in a potential new smash game would simply reuse the whole thing.

Other than that, I think his "bad aerials" would be better represented by them still being somewhat weak but instead being "keepaway" moves rather than being entirely useless. Throw in Side-B being a meteor (just to get opponents down to the ground) and I think he'd be good.

@@quillion3rdoptionMy rework for Mac is that every time you punish lag (Down-B counts), you get a Star. It can either be
      A) A 1 time use for Neutral B or Up B, the more stars, the better. Each time you’re sent to tumble though, you lose all the Stars, same for stocks.
      B) A 3 time max store where you can power up Neutral B or Up B at your discretion, but each time you’re sent to tumble, you lose 1 star. You lose all the stars for stocks or
      C) 3 time max store where you can either use 1, 2, or 3 stars to power up neutral or up b. You lose 1 for each time you enter tumble and all 3 for stocks.
Powered up N-B is a quick and strong uppercut that’s like a nerfed Old B, but it’s quicker to end, but slower to start since you need to charge it. Reg B is actually the same thing but it’s an alright low percentage combo tool that only makes real damage if he hits a “crit area”, main down there, the head (tumble), or the treasure chest.
Up B is where it’s at, ‘cause when you charge it up (aerial), 1 charge is almost 3/4s uncharged ground Up b, 2 is exactly ground up b, and the 3rd charge is 1 3/4 Ground Up b, with applied power scaling to grounded up b, this can be Mac’s primary kill confirm and recovery! Though those stars are needed for it so, another reason to never camp.

      @quillion3rdoption 14 дней назад

@keypiece9764 I think that'd work better if expending stars on neutral-B makes it a strong KO move while expending stars on up-B is more keepaway/weak KO but sends him higher (so more for recovery). Risk-reward.

Personally really want ZSS changed. Design, voice, moveset. Shes still using the Other M design all the way back from 2010, Dread and Samus returns made changes to the design and it would be nice to see them implemented. Her voice is also a holdover all the way from Brawl and while its not bad or anything it just really doesnt represent the character all that well anymore.
Moveset wise oh goodness why did they remove virtually all her whip attacks and replace them with weird looking kicks?? I hate the overcentralization of boost kick and flip jump so much since Smash 4, goodness. She has a bit of Captain Falcon syndrome where her moveset is largely Smash original, as the plasma whip was added to complete her moveset and its sad to see most of it gone in favor of basic kick attacks. Her new Fsmash is also just flat out worse, having much less range and doesn't even connect consistently, not to mention just looks really strange animation wise.
If theyre really set on keeping the jet heels then at least integrate them into her moveset, give her boost attacks or something, and bring back her old fsmash which basically functioned as a sword snash attack. ZSS kinda peaked in Brawl for me, the zero mission design is way better than the other M one and while i doubt they'll ever return to it they can at least do more with her moveset and character because the idea that shes just mobility and nothing else is frankly just very boring. Its even worse in Ultimate since while most grab centric characters had their grab combos nerfed/changed but still usable hers are just completely gone and unlike Luigi her grab is still pretty bad. Its only real use is her admittedly good zair and...thats pretty much it? Im a longtime Metroid fan and what Smash has done to both ZSS and Samus over the years honestly kinda hurts. I hope they ditch the ugly Other M designs for good next game

Honestly I think One Wing is one of the best way to implement comeback mechanic, it is easier to get when losing than when winning (UNLIKE CERTAIN PRANKSTER WITH HIS MENTAL DEMON) It gives some stats, not super crazy B-Air or D-B buff to do 40%. The only problems I see, are why armor on smash attacks and ONLY in last stock situation should last until end of match. Otherwise is very balanced, if you're winning is unlikely to get the buff before dying if you're losing is fairly easy to get the buff, extra mid air jump, extra movement speed, more dmg, (as far as I know he receives the same amount of dmg no mitigation, unlike Wii Fit for some reason). Personally I think his comeback mechanic is the only one I actually like, even Cloud can one hit KO with the tornado thing at 40.

Yo Vars, u mentioned how u didnt like Luigi because he was a t.o.d. brawler character with a broken grab that leads to the fatal combo and many other things. A lot of other people don’t like Luigi not only because of that but also because his moveset isn’t super representative of his home games.
I do like Luigi, even his current moveset/playstyle for the most part, but I think both of these issues that others have could be solved in a way that preserves the fun parts of his current character in smash:
What if they add Mr. L from Super Paper Mario into smash, but not as a paper character, instead make him turn 3d in his reveal trailer or something so he can be a regular 3d fighter unlike G&W (similar to what happened with Pacman). And then, give him Luigi’s current moveset, except for a key distinction: take away the plunger, cuz he’s not regular Luigi, and that fixes the biggest problem a lot of people have with him. U could also change a few other things probably, like making his neutral-b a (possibly green) electric projectile (like Pika/Pichu’s, except it doesn’t drop, it still defies gravity) instead of the current green fireball. I just think Luigi’s current fireball is kinda weird.
And at this point u could give Luigi an entirely new moveset EXCEPT FOR the plunger grab, cuz at this point he wouldn’t be a t.o.d. character anymore (that would be Mr. L) and Luigi’s moveset would focus more on non-brawler moves like stuff from his game. A few moves I definitely wanna see include the burst air-blast from Luigi’s mansion 3 that could function as a great down-smash, kinda like K. Rool’s, Incin’s, or Sora’s, except it’d be a LOT faster on startup and to compensate also be far laggier after the hit (and probably also less safe on shield). His f-tilt could be a lightning-fast (like frame 2 or maybe even 1) high-coverage but low-damage attack that simply stuns opponents for an extremely brief period (kinda like Sephiroth side-b does on first hit). This attack wouldn’t be a combo starter unless Luigi hit the close-range sweetspot (which he could follow up with a jab or something), otherwise it would just set up for a reactionary situation where the opponent and Luigi are near each other and can both act at basically the same time after f-tilt ends

Luigi needs to use the actual vacuum for his grab, not the plunger. Also, after Brothership, I think Iceball fits more for Luigi than thunder.

@ I’m actually down for regular Luigi to use iceball, but Mr. L doesn’t use ice balls as far as I can remember. And “Green Thunder” is literally part of his slogan or whatever.
Now, about not using the plunger: I just don’t know, the suction function of the vacuum normally only sucks in heavily-weakened ghosts. U can use it to hold and carry toads around in Scarescraper, but the toads aren’t really resisting and also they don’t get sucked into the vacuum like a ghost. Also, while u are able to shoot the toads away after holding onto them, it’s a very bland shot, I don’t think it’d make for a great throw. And all of this was on a toad, which is the only character u can do this on, normally these mechanics only work on items.

    • @blockyshapes7001
      @blockyshapes7001 14 дней назад

@ they did that for the plunger already, but they’d also have to mess with the canonical load size that the vacuum can suck in if u wanted it to be able to absorb the fighters Luigi grabs (like his final smash currently does). Besides that tho, I think it would be a weird functionality-wise. Normally Luigi can perpetually suck air in with the vacuum, so if it was gonna be implemented into smash I’d want it to be able to hold it for a decent while, much longer than the active frames of Pac-Man’s grab (the current most active grab in the game). That’s why I think, instead, if they were gonna put the regular vacuum into the game, then they should make it a special move (like side-b, maybe) instead of it being his grab. It just makes more sense, we’ve already got several moves like it (such as Kirby/Dedede’s inhales and K. Rool’s vacuum gun). That way it can have more startup and be held out for much longer. Maybe Luigi could even walk around while still using it after pulling it out, kinda like how he can walk around while vacuuming in home games (except Luigi can’t jump in any of the home games, so Luigi would probably be limited to 1 jump or no jumps at all while vacuuming).

On the one hand we were clearly balanced around ledgetrapping imo. The lamest part of advantage state, and definitely never what I wanted to emphasize.
On the other hand, I think it's hard to remove him being good at it? Gordo naturally covers so many options and has so many varieties. It'd always going to be good at ledge. And I don't really want to remove it, it's tennis nature and the many angles you can use it in has always made it the most interesting projectile to me, not just for ledgetraps. Actually it only really becomes a bit lame to me at ledge lol.
I would make gordo have a separate damage threshold for projectiles to send it back (if you have a small and spammable projectile of your own gordo is near invalidated in neutral) but otherwise I wouldn't touch it.
Just make him better lol. There are a few moves which are laughably bad, no excuse for existing (jab is frame 10 for example- whyyyy)
Then he has other moves which are almost good but they clearly thought "hold on a sec, that almost looks like a good move- ON DDD??? Alright put like a whole second of endlag on inhale."
He needs better approach options, a better poke, and slightly more air speed so that he isn't incentivised to turtle. Then just fix those moves which were clearly padded to be bad intentionally/ not live up to their conceptual potential.
Oh and I'd make sour Nair bigger 😈 he wants a bigger sour Nair so badly and Krool exists with the same animation, bigger hitbox, different but still good combo utility, and it has fucking belly armour lol. Just pls let that shit cover his whole belly lol.
I still think he'd be low mid at best with some of these changes, although his matchup spread would change immensely for the better and he'd be less invalidated in his worst matchups.

Luigi, Robin, Ganondorf, Shulk, and Lucario are my top 5 picks for needing reworks badly. There's tons of side Mario games Luigi can borrow from now, Lucario should fight more like it does in the anime and using Ash's Lucario is a good start for references, Shulk's aerials need to be tweaked better and with Xenoblade 3 he can even though his Smash Attacks are really good. Robin is a strange case. The magic is fine, but in Awakening's plot, Robin's swordsmanship is said to be somewhat on Chrom's level, but I don't see it here in Smash. Fire Emblem has a Warriors game and I think the swordplay should be more important than the magic. I would also definitely change that run animation, at least take the book and sword out of their hand to make them less goofy looking. Ganondorf is obvious. Outside of a few moves (Side B, Down Air, F Air), I can't stand how Ganondorf still fights just like Falcon.

She doesn't need a complete rework, I really love the concept of the moveset. But I feel Robin needs some buffs, make her faster, replace bronze sword with iron sword (I get having a weaker sword while levin is charging but dear God they went too far bronze sword is way to week) increase the amount of uses on all specials and Levin sword, only have Levin sword lose durability if it hits anything. While a new Up B for Kirby would be nice, all of his specials are references to his games and need to be simple for new players. I say make his Hammer more like it was in Brawl so it's more useful, change his Down Tilt to a slide and change his Smash Attacks so that they're actually references instead of made up moves.

I want to see him have a projectile flick like potemkin fdb in ggxrd or smth. It essentially turns any projectile caught in it to a slow moving multihitter he can follow behind, and this is somewhat lore accurate. I think giving flame choke armor is good and giving up b a bigger hitbox would be nice, as well as making it go higher and faster. Was surprised to see Sephiroth since he does seem quite balanced compared to the other DLC being a bit OP. If he got these kinds of buffs I wouldn't complain though. He seems fine to me, but I could be biased since I got in him in Elite Smash day 1 more easily than most other characters since he just kinda fits my playstyle quite well.
However, I will say I like the precision Sephiroth has. I obviously have some bias from learning smash off of Marth with his Tippers in Melee. Now I haven't started the FF7 series because I'm afraid of the 500+hours it'll take to complete them, but isn't Sephiroth a calculating precise character that went through ridiculous training? I've only glanced at wikis, cutscenes and gameplay to be honest.
On a side note, nice gym pic. Funnily enough Sephiroth having a six pack is what got me started into going full on with my exercise routine in hopes of getting a six pack (I now know there's more to six packs than that though). I can't be a Sephiroth main if I'm not jacked like him..... Funnily enough life got so much easier since I got that motivation from Sephiroth. Yes, perhaps they should make it so he can't easily do a 0-death combo, but his personality is one that you should never know what to expect when facing him. Maybe something small, like his up-B has a chance to do 0 damage and little knock-back, but it doesn't stale when it does.

  • @raggens
    @raggens 13 дней назад

I’d probably merge Spin Dash and Spin Charge into the same down special, and the move’s different depending on whether you hold the button or mash it. They’ll be tweaked and adjusted, obviously. But I’m thinking that Sonic’s new side special can be the Rush Boost - which propels him forward and gives him super armor. He travels a set distance with a slight bounce and can only use it once in the air, but on the ground he can hold onto it until the gauge runs out, but he can refill it when he attacks. And unlike other moves with similar gauges, Sonic can use his at any time so long as his gauge is filled somewhat
Other moves I’d give him are a chooseable rapid jab, a new neutral air that’s a multi-hit and inspired by Sonic Rush, the Axe Kick as a forward air, a down air that has him curl up into a ball and go straight down (with a shockwave when he hits the ground + a bounce if he successfully lands like Greninja’s down aerial). Fix up Homing Attack so a reticle shows before he attacks, and in a few frames after using the move he can use it 2 more times on different opponents. His Final Smash also needs to be buffed as well - maybe with the hitboxes drawing opponents in for the final hit similar to Pikachu/Pichu’s Final Smash Volt Tackle.
I’d give Sonic more voice clips that better fit his taunts. Give Sonic some more life in the facial expressions he makes. Add in some more references to his classical games - like a remixed version of the Stage Clear theme in the very first game, or waving Tails goodbye after giving him a high-five as he’s dropped onto the stage in his stage entrance animation - and perhaps one of the victory screens can reference him opening an Animal Cage and passing by the Goal Sign, while another can have Tails and Knuckles posing by his side.
As for newcomers, I’m thinking Shadow is the best candidate to be Sonic’s echo fighter/semi-clone. His moveset would be similar to Sonic’s, but his moveset would have different like adjusted hitboxes, different moves, fire-based attacks from his Air Shoes, Chaos Control when he dodges, a teleportation up special, new taunts and animations, etc. Silver can most likely replace his Assist Trophy slot. I can definitely see his telekinesis powers coming into play when summoned on the battlefield. He can even have a whole new stage as well: Radical Highway, based of the Sonic x Shadow Generations version. It can replace Windy Hill Zone, and various characters can show up to cheer on the fight. There can even be new tracks added - with only 2 or 3 remixed bc who needs to improve upon perfection

I like that Sephiroth has a comeback mechanic that doesn’t entirely monopolize playing against him. One wing is busted, sure but you actually need to know what the hell you’re doing to get anything out of it. The thing most people despise about comeback mechanic characters is the reward they get for doing absolutely nothing. Seph does not have this problem. Honestly, my biggest and only problem with him is the weight. They need to stop being afraid that a strong character that doesn’t move at the speed of molasses will be absolutely broken if they don’t weigh two pounds. Mewtwo has the exact same issue and also wouldn’t be busted if he were to be a mid-weight. Yet Bowser is surprisingly quick on the ground, hits like a 16 wheeler and is the heaviest character in the game, but he’s not broken. Like even Sora, a scrawny kid half his size, weighs more than him.
