This video only covered Up-Special (with a couple of exceptions).
To be fair, “who can destroy one layer of blocks near the ledge” is also useful too, because that may be all Steve has time to do, or Steve may want a trap.

And yeah, I agree, Ridley should be able to go in any directions with Up-B (or at least, 2 up diagonals) but I guess it has something to do with the angle it launches the opponent (like maybe it's difficult to make it a move that can spike, but also launch at several anglesso they just made specific directions (Maybe I'm fully wrong here, I'm not a game designer).

CFive somehow managed to jump cancel the bullet extension version of bayo up b which is impressive For the most efficient way to recover though as bayo you should be using the light version (don’t hold the special button while inputting up b, just tap it lightly-this will make your recovery as bayo faster, your combos more true and the inputs are easier)
Y'all should make sure that you're differentiating between when you're wall-hugging, then grabbing the ledge with magnet-hands, which instantly breaks the block with the ledge grab animation, and when you're actually breaking the block by bumping your head. Some characters are clearly riding the wall and breaking the block by teleporting to their ledge grab animation. Pit is a clear example.

If Steve's blocks are too good of an edge-guard, they could give all recovery specials a trait that they instantly destroy blocks without blocking the player. That way you can't use it directly as edge guard.

Very nice idea for a Video ! This Tier List is the most relevant thing a competetive smash player could ask for ! You guys are the REAL CHADS here 😄👌🏼 Just a small thing I noticed : maybe it would make a little difference when you build blocks from right to left .
Maybe, because the blocks near the ledge would be "fresher", but we struggled hard at first getting the timing right with the recovery and the wall-building, also failing to build a straight wall many times, or standing on a block too long so it disappeared^^ After a little practice we felt like this was the easiest and most consistent way of doing it, so we just tried to recover into the blocks as soon as possible, so they dont lose health before that :P
Mosy characters can just up air to help break the blocks and then up special. Though I do appreciate the video for understanding how recoveries work against blocks.
Yes, this video demonstrates if you have to care about doing something else, or just power through the blocks. Although some recoveries that are slow, could easily be punished. Tether recoveries are safe to just power through, as well as Isabelle and Kirby who can float around the blocks.
I feel like Ness should have their own tier because if you know how to use PK Thunder 2 twice effectively, you can recover from block placement gimps (as well as Pk Flash/Air dodge) but it also feels impossible to surpass unless you know that advanced tech. No other character able to pop through a one-block layer gimp needs such an advanced tech from their character.
The reason Ridley can’t even break through the dirt is due to how his recovery acts on a functional level. It’s programmed to be able to bounce off of any terrain the game considers to be “a wall” when at a certain proximity to said surface. There were 3 possible ways you could’ve bypassed this: 1.) recover from a slightly lower angle and use a “beefy up-b.” Ridley would no longer be in the threshold where the bounce tech is active. 2). Recover horizontally at the same angle. Like I said before, Ridley can bounce off any terrain the game considers “wall,” and the stage is one of those things. You could’ve possibly used it to stall like with Ness. 3). Use Ridley’s midair jumps to position yourself backwards (where you can use his diagonal recovery). I know you were just testing recoveries and that the use of jumps were prohibited, but I believe that it would’ve been interesting to try anyways.
I think you should try to split the characters who can go through iron ("absolute chad recovery") into sub-tiers for who barely does it even when from really close/requiring some special trick, who barely does it or requires a trick but then goes well, and who can do it pretty easily/with recovery distance to spare. Basically "barely chad, solid chad and ultra-chad". This way "loses to dirt" is our bottom tier, "loses to wood" is our low tier, "loses to stone" is our mid-low tier, "loses to iron" is our mid-tier, "barely chad" is our mid-high tier, "solid chad" is our high tier and ultra-chad is our "top tier".
I know its not the point of the video, but I'm sure that a lot more character would snap if you recover sliding up along the underside of the platform. It's just that in a few of the tests, like with Lucas, they seem to succeed no necessarily because because they can break through the blocks because you recovered with them in such a way that they could make use of ledge snapping to bypass block interaction. I know its just for fun, but I thought I'd leave my thoughts here to let people know that even some of the characters who couldn't make it through certain block tiers may still be able to recover if Steve makes a block ceiling like this if they recover close to the stage.
Honestly, knowing that Steve can counterpick any teleport character is huge. His moves themselves are situational and not necessarily good on their own, but even just being able to counter the likes of Palutena and Zelda is pretty important imo
I know it doesn't matter but this is extremely inaccurate. With some characters you are intentionally just going around the blocks while with others you are not even though they easily could. and with doc you used down special
Bowser Jr. Doesn't have as much of a problem as you think. Fun fact, swinging hammer stops him from grabbing ledge. If you just let him go, he'll snap past the blocks straight to the ledge.
Note that these recoveries have been very close the ledge in a real match this would go differently :^) Steve can layer the blocks so it's even harder to recover
While I'm sure most of these are accurate, my only issue with this test is the stage used I feel like some characters (Pit, for example) would slide up along the stage and snap to ledge, ignoring blocks If you want this to be more accurate, I'd recommend testing it on a stage with walls, like Kalos or Wily's Castle

Honestly, knowing that Steve can counterpick any teleport character is huge. His moves themselves are situational and not necessarily good on their own, but even just being able to counter the likes of Palutena and Zelda is pretty important imo

What we learn from this video? That Joker's recovery is better without Arsene, and Donkey Kong's recovery is better than Pikachu's.
I know it doesn't matter but this is extremely inaccurate. With some characters you are intentionally just going around the blocks while with others you are not even though they easily could. and with doc you used down special

Bowser Jr. Doesn't have as much of a problem as you think. Fun fact, swinging hammer stops him from grabbing ledge. If you just let him go, he'll snap past the blocks straight to the ledge.

in a real match this would go differently :^)
Steve can layer the blocks so it's even harder to recover
While I'm sure most of these are accurate, my only issue with this test is the stage used
I feel like some characters (Pit, for example) would slide up along the stage and snap to ledge, ignoring blocks
If you want this to be more accurate, I'd recommend testing it on a stage with walls, like Kalos or Wily's Castle
I think they did this stage to test it on a Battle Field / Final Destination style stage.
